I think they did it because they were too many beers in without resetting their taste. For me after the 3rd beer I start getting used to the bitter taste and don't feel it as much anymore so even if I keep having the same beer as before it would taste much lighter than it actually is. I am almost certain that when Connor and Garnt say they've had Budweiser before, they're actually thinking of Bud Light. If you're at a convention afterparty or something and they've just got a few cheap generic beers on tap, they're probably not even gunna have Budweiser, just Bud Light - and Bud Light is pisswater. Budweiser ain't great, but it's definitely got flavor. Their Bud Light-based expectations led them to expect something flavorless and awful, so they were blindsided
Agreed. Budweiser isn’t great, but Bud Light is straight piss. I was thinking the whole time they were talking about Bud they must have been drinking Bud Light.

being a beer brewer myself, i felt i needed to say that Ale and Lager are both classified as beers; with the main difference being is if the yeast ferments at the top or bottom.
No man, you are wrong! Lagger means it has bad internet conection. Nah jk, remember how in internet: Random Strangers (me) are more experterous than the actual proffesionals (you).
@@xiuxiu1108 Same difference. The top fermenting yeast strains work at a warmer temperature. The bottom fermenting yeast strains ferment at a lower temperature.
Well as somebody how literally grew up above a brewery in Bavaria, let me give you some insights; 1.Yes Beers of the same brand can taste quit different depending on where it was brewed! (Honestly i don’t really understand why people are so surprised about that, after all nobody is surprised that a Chardonnay tasts diffrent depending on if its from French, Californian or Australian) Beer is a natural product that’s crafted, not just mixed together like a soda, and nomather how much big breweries try to ensure global standardization, depending on the mineralisation of the water, the kind and malt contain of the grain, and especial the yeast, the end result can vary quite a bit. 2.Yes the “container” in wich a Beer is stored (barrel/bottle/can) also has an inpect on how well the beer is preserved and how it will taste. (fun fact cans [compared to bottles] are actually better in preserving the original taste the brewer intended) 3.Also the glass! (Bottle or can) you drink from (as you may have noticed) has a quit significant impact on how it taste. So please get yourself some proper beer glasses (or I have to send you some) and don’t drink it from paper cups (you’re not in UNI anymore). 4. Weißbier contains yeast in the bottle (normally accumulated on the bottom), so one bottle should always be seen as “one serving” kind of like a piece of sushi, because otherwise if you split one Bottle (of Erdinger) into more than one glass their will be a huge taste difference between the glasses. And finally to redeem you guys a bit, Budweiser made outside of its home contrey, or made for export (kindof the opposite to Gunnies) often taste much better thene the US-version because, especial in Europe, local regulations often force them to obtain higher standards (for example using only grain not rice) if they want to sell their product as “beer”. Oh and a fun fact; the check Budvar (or Budweis) is actual the ancestor of (your beloved 😉) american Budweiser.
I call cap on the budweiser thing. American food and beverage companies have immense focus on consistency of their products and rice has been used to make budweiser since it was originally made in the 1800s. It is still mostly using grains though. Even in America
@@breembo Yeah like i really love how they bounce off with each other! And since this is after dark, they can tackle more adult stuff and not get as wary as on main
When they showed the Yebisu picture again at 1:55:48, I thought the staff were trying a 3-head trick play...but then I thought about it. Giving them Yebisu again would have been too obvious. They should have given them BUDWEISSER again, just to mess with them. LOL!
Garnt at the end of the stream: “I think we were all like, ‘This tastes good, this taste good’ and I thought maybe they know what they’re talking about.” Also Garnt before anyone else gives an opinion: “I really like this, I really like this, I really like this, I really like this. This is better than the Spanish one.” Rates it 8/10. Coping hard.
They should have a "Chats per second" feature where it shows how many people messaged in the chat, but not what they said. Especially when Garnt started trashing the Thai beer, it would be funny to see.
I’m not patriotic or even drink beer…but the feeling of absolute joy seeing them all unanimously give Budweiser above a 7 after complaining the whole stream was great.
Same, equally as an American who doesn't drink. I got a savage pleasure out of that. About to head to bed now and have sweet dreams about that moment, lol.
I had the largest grin as they all realized what beer they drank when it came to the Budweiser. Thought it was hilarious that after all the trash talk they thought it tasted good. Not even of legal drinking age and that segment had me ear to ear smiling
I think what threw them on the budweiser is that bud is used for Budweiser and Bud light, and that when you go to a bar in the US and ask for a Bud you will get Bud light most of the time. And with craft/local beers being everywhere in the US, people from the US saying its bad has more to do with the quantity of choices than the tastes of beer. Budweiser is kinda like just a baseline
In regards to American beer, in the past 15 years, the big 3 brands like Miller, Budweiser and Coors have been kinda dethroned by so many genuinely fantastic more and local regional beer options. Just about any medium sized town now is going to have at least one creative local brewery that is pretty good. Coors/Bud/Miller are still pretty ubiquitous but very few people under the age of like 45 have those traditional big 3 as their genuine beer of choice. Even more recently nationwide brands like Sam Adams or Yeungling are so much better. I'd say, as an American, the biggest contemporary problem with American beer is the glut of indistinguishable IPA style beers flooding the market.
Same sort of thing has happened in Australia. Sure, some people drink and enjoy the standard fare (VB, XXXX and Tooheys etc) but there's a ton of varied local beers. Fosters is a meme tho, no one here drinks that, I don't even see it in the liquor store.
@@leomartinez603 All my family has these days are IPAs and Lite beers (Miller, Coors, AND Bud, yuck), so it’s no wonder that I skipped beer and went straight to wine and liquor, because holy hell, I can’t stand IPAs and Lite beers anymore. Saying this as a Californian.

Personalmente no me gusta corona, pero igual se sintió cool que Joey la incluyera en su top, también se me hizo raro que a Connor no le gustara, idk why.
The important thing when drinking beer in other countries is where it's bottled. The local water is an incredibly important factor to its taste, even if it's the same recipe.
Totaly agree. Corona was bottled only in Mexico until recent years, but even if they're are bottled in the same country, the taste is different among the states.

As a Brit it pains me to say this, but budweiser is a decent beer, I'd never turn it down when offered. I think a lot of the stigma surrounding it for Brits is the fact its an American beer. Its by far better than a lot of the top brand British beers
Beer preference is 90% marketing and 10% taste. There are so many blind studies of avid beer drinkers not able to tell their preference apart. We even saw this here when Garnt gave Guinness a 10 just because he knew 100% it was a Guinness. I'm sure if Gant didn't was sure the score would have been different. Really beer is just like food, everyone has their own preference and one beer is not really better than others.
@@Murf181 Oof yikes, giant disagreement with you there on your bull shit. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it but Bud Light (depicted in the thumbnail) is NOT the same as Budweiser (featured and drank in the video). Although a lot of people simply call both beers Bud so the mistake is understandable. I do know they are the same company but it is a big difference, no one asks for Coke and is fine with it when they get diet.
It's just a thumbnail difference I'm pretty sure, to not give away what happened, yet getting the same point around. Either way it's decent clickbait, and they actually did have Budweiser
They are not the same company. Complete opposite, Budweiser (state owned brewery in Czech Republic, in Česke Budějovice = Budweis in german) is suing Budlight and they won cases in some countries for the name, becuase realistically they are the original, they are brewed in Budweis. Its just some people coming to America and trying to recreate it, but it turns to what it is, shit.
@@skipnobodycares2018 You're right about the lawsuit, but Czech Budweiser, American Budweiser, and Bud Light are three different beers, with the latter two being made by the same company. BEER TERMINOLOGY 101 Beer -> Lagers and Ales -> Lager is cold fermented and comprises most 'big brand' beer (almost everything on your table is lager). Ale is warm fermented (and pretty much 99% of all the beer styles from White to Amber to Imperial Stout are Ale).
Also: not every lager is a light beer. Cheap American beers are generally lagers, and hot-weather beer like Tsing Tao are Pilserners, but you can get some deep flavorful beers like Bocks and Dunkels.
Yeah, there are a few beers they had that weren't lagers (the Guinness, the Sri Lankan Lion stout and Erdinger). But generally, you're completely correct.
Every blind taste test is really a testament to marketing. Joey liked Corona while just drinking it. But was so ashamed when he knew what it was. They all had glowing reviews for Bud, until they knew what it was. People are sheep. And marketers and advertisets run our opinions.
It's strange. As a German I never put much thought into beer. You just buy the style of beer you like and don't worry much about anything like brand. It is very common to just rotate the brand and always buy the one that's on sale. That's probably why we don't have much craft beer.
This is interesting, i never knew that the foam on the beer is called head in english because in german we call it foam crown or just crown, that makes it perfectly ambiguous 😄
1:57:55 This was probably my favorite moment other than the Budweiser bruh moment Garnt: "I don't know what he means (with 'head')" Sydney: "What do you mean you don't know what he means, Garnt?!"
Just as a quick info, Dreher is a beer-company, that was founded by an Austrian, but moved to Italy in 1974. Today it's being brewed in Milan. So technically both calling it an Austrian and an Italian beer would be correct.....it's not good though, as an Austrian living close to the Italian border, I can assure you, there's way better Austrian and Italian beers, you just picked a shit one. Edit: Also, since I don't know nearly as many Italian beers as Austrian ones, I don't really feel informed enough to give a recommendation on that front, if you wanna try decent Austrian beer though, go for Murauer, Hirter, Puntigamer or Stiegel, those are the best big ones....Gösser and Zipfer are doable too, though they're below the aforementioned, in my opinion.....and of course, there's all kinds of amazing smaller experimental or crafts-breweries, that I'd also recommend checking out, should you ever find your way to Austria ;)
I looked that up too because i'm austrian an have never even heard of Dreher lol Apparently it's part of Asahi Beer Company which is why the boyz got their hands on it in Japan i guess. As for beer from Austria, i would add Wieselburger to the list. Also as a viennese i feel utterly ashamed of Ottakringer haha
Anton Dreher opened, bought breweries all over the Monarchy. And interestingly now we have two Dreher. One in Italy, one in Hungary. Both retain the rights to the name but different entities. Though the Italian one is restricted to the italian and some surrounding markets and ofc can't export to hungary.
@@IchabodCrane789 Hmmm, Interesting bit of information, thanks for sharing! Only had the Italian version so far then, and I can tell you, you haven't missed anything by not trying that one.....
@@philipkarall2303 Yeah, again I only know it, cause I'm currently living in Graz and partly grew up in Carinthia near the Italian border (father was from there), so yeah, I'm not surprised, it didn't even make it to Graz, so I also can't see it making it to Vienna. ;) And well, didn't really try that much Wieselburger yet, might've to give it a try, so thanks for the suggestion! As for Otterkringer, well, glad to hear that you're one of the smart Viennese then, got an acquaintance in Vienna who, for some reason, believes Otterkringer to be the best bear to ever exist on earth and just won't accept, how wrong he is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. On the other hand, I've also met plenty of Viennese who don't like it, but for some reason, it still has a following, even though it's just plain bad in my opinion. Glad to hear you're not part of that then, you've truly proven yourself a proper trash taste fan ;P
Blue Moon is very much a summer beer meant to be taken cold. For an American beer that is good at room temp and best with cool season foods, you need to try Honey Brown. Honey Brown is a very nutty but smooth beer that tastes like Autumn.
The difference between ale and lager is the strains of yeast, where in the column of fluid fermentation occurs, and the fermentation temperatures. Technically (traditionally), they also tend to use different grains but that's not a universal truth and there's enough crossover now that the only remaining consistent differences are the fermentation (and so the yeast).
As a Belgian, I am really happy our beer made the cut. If I do say so myself our beer is great! The most famous ones are Jupiler, and Stella Artios. Great beers try them sometime! (I’m seeing some mixed feeling about stella wich is understandable, try drinking it cold by putting it in the fridge or something. It will be way better trust me.)

Cheers from the land of Estrella Galicia, boys! :) Happy to see that our brew gets to Nippon. There are a other beers named Estrella something (Estrella Damn and Estrella Levante) in Spain, maybe that's where your confusion comes form. Btw, Dreher, which belongs to Asahi, is actually Hungarian, neither Italian nor Austrian.
This entire video I was rooting for Connor and his ability to tell the different beers apart. Knowing full well I'd be as lost as Joey if dropped into a similar situation. Hell, I have the same issues with local beers already!
Budweiser is basically America's equivalent to Guinness Draught not in flavor, but in the fact that despite not being particularly remarkable it's become a cultural staple for its consistency and mass appeal. It's the McDonald's of beer if you will. There's plenty of fantastic American beer; it's just at craft breweries you'll never hear about overseas.
Regarding the instant noodle talk, funnily enough, just in the past year or two I've been seeing Walmart carry the Curry Cup Noodle, which actually tastes the same as the Japanese one, so that made me pretty happy. Also, Sydney is nuts. American ramen tastes like styrofoam. The stuff in Japan is on a whole nother level.
American ramen is so bad I wouldnt even eat it in prison. However instant thai noodles were pretty damn good. When you gotta make do mixing shit ingredients, thai noodles make it palletable.
The Korean ones are a good alternative like Neoguri and Jin Ramyun. They're a bit thicker and it's a lot smoother than the hard stuff that gets sold in America.
The Budweiser segment was amazing. It was even better watching this and knowing what was about to happen after all the Budweiser slander. They gave one of the most American beers such a high score. NEVER FORGET AMERICANS! We got em!!!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Concerning beer and medieval period : 1st : the beer was far far far less strong, so you couldnt really getting drunk on it (it was like, less than 5% alcohol) 2nd : people didnt only drank beer, but beer was a staple, and in some region mandatory.
Most major brands of beer are around 5% so saying that it was less than 5% isn't that big of a difference from what it is now. But it is true that they would dilute most alcoholic drinks to the point that you wouldn't get drunk without drinking an excessive amount.
@@barethor5869 ah yeah, you're right on that. that being said, it's not that it was diluted, it just that it wasnt as matured as today, so they stopped beer (and some other alcohol) before it start building up so much alcohol, or produced beer that didnt have enough sugar to produce high amount of alcohol in the first place.
@@Campanellaa No, they would literally add water to the finished beer and other alcoholic drinks to dilute it. They may not have brewed it to the same level of strength in first place, but if that is the case I know they still added water. They other thing about about stopping the beer is that to do that they would need to kill the yeast, the easiest ways to do that being exposing them to high heat or cold temperatures, and to my knowledge they would prefer to maintain the yeast to use in later brewing or baking.
Guinness is best enjoyed as a full pint in the pub, because the gas in it forms a creamier head. As far as I know the Guinness company is now English owned but still is brewed in Dublin. I am almost certain that when Connor and Garnt say they've had Budweiser before, they're actually thinking of Bud Light. If you're at a convention afterparty or something and they've just got a few cheap generic beers on tap, they're probably not even gunna have Budweiser, just Bud Light - and Bud Light is pisswater. Well as somebody how literally grew up above a brewery in Bavaria, let me give you some insights;
1.Yes Beers of the same brand can taste quit different depending on where it was brewed!
(Honestly i don’t really understand why people are so surprised about that, after all nobody is surprised that a Chardonnay tasts diffrent depending on if its from French, Californian or Australian)
Beer is a natural product that’s crafted, not just mixed together like a soda, and nomather how much big breweries try to ensure global standardization, depending on the mineralisation of the water, the kind and malt contain of the grain, and especial the yeast, the end result can vary quite a bit.
2.Yes the “container” in wich a Beer is stored (barrel/bottle/can) also has an inpect on how well the beer is preserved and how it will taste. (fun fact cans [compared to bottles] are actually better in preserving the original taste the brewer intended)
3.Also the glass!

1:58:47 I love how drunk Garnt tries to take a sip of beer with his eyes and mouth closed shut LMAO.
The boys: *gave one of the best ratings to Budweiser.*
Americans: "You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me."
I understood that reference.
Never had a Yeungling until a few months ago and, hot damn, that’s a good beer.

They are not the same company. BEER TERMINOLOGY 101
Beer -> Lagers and Ales -> Lager is cold fermented and comprises most 'big brand' beer (almost everything on your table is lager). Ale is warm fermented (and pretty much 99% of all the beer styles from White to Amber to Imperial Stout are Ale).
I never knew the difference but I prefer Ales over lagers. The only beer I can stand is strawberry beer. But I would moreso call it a lager.

Nicely said. For Italian beers, I would definitely suggest Poretti, Baladin, Ichnusa, Messina

Apparently it's part of Asahi Beer Company which is why the boyz got their hands on it in Japan i guess.

As a German Connor‘s skills to tell the beers apart is quite attractive 😂
And he seems to like the strong tasting beers. 👌🏻✨

@@BulagBanditMedia My personal favorite s while I was in Japan were the Maruchan red label Kitsune Udon and Ippeichan Yakisoba.
The Budweiser segment was amazing. It was even better watching this and knowing what was about to happen after all the Budweiser slander. They gave one of the most American beers such a high score. NEVER FORGET AMERICANS! We got em!!!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
We got them ladies and gentlemen!!
It received the second highest average score, along with Estrella and Yebisu.
Most people still consider Budweiser trash, don't worry
Concerning beer and medieval period :
1st : the beer was far far far less strong, so you couldnt really getting drunk on it (it was like, less than 5% alcohol)
2nd : people didnt only drank beer, but beer was a staple, and in some region mandatory.
They other thing about about stopping the beer is that to do that they would need to kill the yeast, the easiest ways to do that being exposing them to high heat or cold temperatures, and to my knowledge they would prefer to maintain the yeast to use in later brewing or baking.
yes, thank the lord Connor gave Budweiser at least a 7. The America slander is closeted admiration.
You could see the terror in Connor's eyes as Joey and Garnt talked about having more food streams
Guinness is best enjoyed as a full pint in the pub, because the gas in it forms a creamier head.
As far as I know the Guinness company is now English owned but still is brewed in Dublin. At least it tastes brilliant(can is alright, 5 or 6/10 makes sense)
and don't worry, bud is easy to drink. good cheap beer
Chang also pretty good. I relate to Joey on that one of a kind taste
As an American, I KNOW Budweiser is booboo. But when the bois got got I had to jump up yelling “USA! USA! USA!”.
Trash Taste indeed 😂
It had me singing the song from the South Park movie, lol. Americaaaa, fuck yeah!
@@TotemoGaijin "America, fuck yeah!" is not from South Park, it's from Team America World Police, which was made by the same people that made South Park.
@@barethor5869 Ahh, you're right. My bad.
"Things always taste better outside of the country"
Many countries export a higher quality product than what is sold inside the country. For example Baltika is a Russian beer that is considered to be the Bud Light of Russian beer, but the exported product is divine
True bro, only insane people buy Baltika in our country
Unless it is Guinness apparently
as an American, this is the most patriotic I've felt in years.
xD
You made the Brits admit an american beer is good, that is a victory and no two ways about it

Stella Artois is Belgian beer XD though the UK DOES have their own local manufacturing plant for it. Hoegaarden is also a belgian beer. It's pronounced closer tho "Who-Garden"
They truly live up to the podcasts name. This truly is the trashiest taste.
I’m from Belgium and it hurts my hart that they’re drinking primus. There are so many better beers. For people who want to know:
Omer
Westmalle triple
Orval
Witkap (my personal favorite)
Cornet
(Jupiler)
Leffe blond
Westvleteren
Chimay triple
Duvel
Haha, love that Westvleteren is here, but good luck finding any (for less than €15 a bottle)
I stan duvel hard.
Duvel is definitely my beer of choice when I can actually find it in the UK.
As a German, I can concur. I wouldn't have made Weissbier our representative choice
Finally some Belgian beer drinkers. Belgian beer is the best a good Stella on a summer day is like an angel pissing in your mouth.
We will never forget when the boys said "Bud is 7.5/10"
As an actual brewer by profession the beginning triggers me, but is enjoyable as hell, ale and lagers are just two different category of beer from which the different styles branch from .
Don't let anybody tell you that your favourite beer is a bad beer, don't give the satisfaction to beer w*nkers!
I feel ya. It was actually hard to watch/listen to. But yes, still very entertaining at least. xD
