Jeb's plan was simple: Use thermonuclear bombs to obliterate Duna's ice caps, sending water cascading into the valleys before finally filling the lakes, oceans and seas of the red planet. Only then would he be able to realise his dream of opening a bait shop with paddle boat hire and concession stand. The official response to this scheme has generally featured the words; "insane", "ridiculous" and "get out of my office". However Jeb has managed to secure preliminary funds which in no way have been pilfered from the catering budget (boiled turnip again!?). Before he gets to the fun part of setting off nuclear warheads however there's the boring science part to get through. How deep will the lakes be? How high or low will the tides be? Where exactly should the concession stand be located? Are there even any fish on Duna? Apparently the answers to at least some of these questions can be gained by measuring the distance from Ike to Duna. Jeb's initial idea was to use a big ball of string but we've been told this isn't practical, so instead he's got the most powerful Jewish space laser he can lay his hands on. By firing a beam at a reflector and timing how long it takes to come back it's possible to work out how far away something is. Who knew?
Hi folks, I hope you're all keeping well. I'm pleased to announce five new micro craft for your Kerballing pleasure. First up is the Orb; a minute micro scout that's available in both atmospheric and vacuum varieties. Apparently the team were working on something even smaller but they've been banned out of fear this will trigger a singularity, and tear the fabric of space-time itself. Next up we have the Sinclair C6, a micro utility craft that like the Orb is available in two models. Unlike the Orb however this craft can be used to transport cucumber sandwiches, Monster Munch and Pimm's using one of two chilled cargo containers. Finally we have the Tortoise; a utility rover that's painfully slow but looks cool, and is vaguely useful for carting beers and digestive biscuits around the landing site.
For our soundtrack this week it's my great pleasure to present the deliciously funky Str4ta. Produced by recording industry veterans Gilles Peterson and Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick, Str4ta features top tier session musicians laying down some irresistible grooves. Hey man, I've got a serious question about your videos. How do you make those shots like in 2:40 to 2:52 ? Ever since I first started watching your content I've always wondered how, and my attempts trying to replicate in my own videos fell really short. Please share your secrets, I'd love to know!!
By the way, amazing video as always! Your content is great and you never fail to impress me!!
Using camera tools set the camera to initial velocity (orbital), then use the spacecraft engines to add a tiny bit of forward momentum. It'll look like a normal tracking shot until the craft hits the atmosphere and slows down. Hope this helps!
