There's been a lot of talk lately about something called the Cupcake Cinematic Universe. Is it a cult? Are there vegan options? Does it cost money? How does it work? Nobody seems to know. We asked Jeb and he said "Well man, it's like stuff, working with other stuff to do... er.... things together, for the universe and love like...." Pretty piss poor explanation I think you'll agree, and one that probably wasn't given sober, but for now it's the best we've got. What? And now they're whispering about "Phase 5" what the hell does this mean? What the hell does any of this mean? I want answers damn it!
Generally speaking motherships or support vessels have been more of an afterthought for me. This is certainly the first time I've spent a couple of days designing one. The result is the sci-fi esque Corvette Heavy Cruiser, designed to roam deep space with its compliment of dropships. Onboard niceties onboard include space for three Kerbals & their luggage, a fully stocked mini bar and popcorn maker. The aim for this design was to create an integrated system where all the different elements and vessels work seamlessly together. Medium and light versions have also been developed but I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the next video (or join Patreon) to get your greasy, disgusting paws on them.
I've also done a wee upgrade on the Puff Puff micro crafts. While these pint size dropships could operate on higher gravity bodies such as the Mun, the extra thrust required would quickly exhaust the on board fuel supply. This upgrade seeks to fix that by using a... er... special high pressure tanks(s) that boosts the total monopropellant onboard from 7.5 to 30 units. This should go some way to easing any range anxieties your Kerbals have. Other tweaks include wider spaced landing gear and a higher seating position. I've included the original models in the craft file (left) as for many missions the single tank version will be fine and has the benefit of superior handling compared to the newer versions.
As I mentioned I'm trying to focus a bit more on how my designs work together as part of a larger mission. To this end the Vincent Recovery Droid will play a vital part in keeping micro RCS craft operational. It can serve as a mobile fuel bowser and an adaptor for micro craft that need to refuel using a larger vessel or refinery. The challenge with this design has been squeezing in all the bits that are needed as well as making it easy on the eye both in its deployed and un-deployed state. To my eye at least I think it looks good in both.
Alongside the Vincent we also have the one we don't talk about, or as it's otherwise known; the Maximilian Recovery Droid. Built to salvage vessels and parts from the surface, it had this unfortunate habit of using it's mechanical claw to crush and maim unsuspecting Kerbals. Whether it was trying to be friendly or not is something that's up for debate. With insurance premiums skyrocketing the Maximilian was reassigned to orbital work where it was hoped it would send less crew members to the fracture clinic. However with the Beta 4.6 firmware update promising to reduce serious injuries by a least 11.4% the droid has received clearance to operate on the surface once again. It's heavier then the Marvin and puts out less thrust, however it makes up for this in terms of versatility, being a very capable orbital mini tug.
Last but not least we have the very latest versions of the Hex and Squark dropships. While I can't comment on the material bays or any of the class action lawsuits regarding their structural failures, I would like to re-assure our investors that we will get the orders shipped by next quarter. And while retrofitting the cockpits with drone cores has caused us no end of grief with the pilots union, they have allowed a lot more fuel to be carried. Oh and the engines can now rotate 180° instead of 90°, so you can even throw it in reverse, how cool is that?
For our soundtrack we have an eight course musical feast courtesy of Idris Muhammad. Being a late 70s song there's no digital trickery here, just some great musicians at the top of games, and man do they lay down some sweeeeeeeeeeeet grooves! I don't own the rights to this recording, this is fan love pure and simple.

Love Cupcake... - Ігри
Still waiting for the Grand Tour Redux Part 2... 😂 I kid, I kid. These are always a treat. The music, the camera, the ship design has really been turned up a notch!
Thankyou!
The little lag spike when the kerbal hits the ground in his speeder. Love it
I've been subscribed to this channel for, what, over 9 years? Some of your videos have always really stuck with me, you have a very unique KSP aesthetic and I love the way it's developed over time. So glad you're still on UA-cam.
Thanks for sticking with me all these years. Really glad you enjoyed the videos and I hope you'll enjoy the future ones too.
Music selection is as impeccable as always, bravo!
Love your ship designs and flying style.
Cheers!
"Vincent" and "Maximilian?" I see what you've done there!
Going through and rewatching a bunch of your content, as always the stuff you make is incredible!
Glad that Kerbal was safely recovered from her crash, hoping for a speedy recovery!
Wow.
New acrobatic flights, sweet funk music, adorable new tiny VTOL pods, and that moment with the plane passing at 07:48 HOLY SH*T !
As always, Cupcake prevails !
Thankyou for your kind words as always. I always look forward to seeing your comments. 😁
Beautifully done
Dodging the additional scatterer from parallax 2.0 is amazing
My designs are making a lot more sense since 2.0 dropped.
As usual, Cupcake creating spectacular cinematic pieces with amazing original spacecraft! Keep up the amazing work Cupcake!
Will do sir!
God damn, no one does it like you. Incredible as always! Loved seeing your use of the rotors/hinges, amazing designs! Everytime you upload I end up adding a new tune to my Spotify, what a taste in music!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Music choice is always top notch!
@7:48 That fly-by!
I have to give the build quality a 9/10. If I was to give it a 10, then I would have to give the cinematics an 11 and that's just not right.
A video showing how you go about making these cinematics would be great.
I am planning some KSP tutorial vids, but I think the cinematography aspect might be a a bit niche. Anyway, thankyou for the lovely feedback. 🙂
50 Seconds in and I'm already getting a *THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO* Feeling from this! 🤣
Now I've got the theme tune stuck in my head!
This was, as ever, pretty cool!
Cheers!
wake up babe, new cupcake landers just dropped
I love the style of your ships; as soon as I see one of those, I know I'm in for a good time.
I swear me watching your videos is just the stick man spit-taking his oatmeal over and over again. Amazing as always!
those little claw cargo drones are great, im 100% using those :D
They definitely come in handy!
what a way to brighten up my sunday!
The commercials for the Cupcake Spaceship Emporium are getting better and better.
The kind of video which makes you desire colonizing a solar system with all these ships and cute contraptions.
Not just the solar system we're gonna bring cute to the whole galaxy! ✨
@@CupcakesLanders Join the Cupcake Galactic Empire. We have cupcakes and good music.

Beyond amazing! So much happy! Thank you!
update: apparently it’s really hard to get a pilot’s license with ADHD, and seeing as it was already really hard I think I’ll go back to architect.
Thankfully I have been provided with another banger song and video to cope to
Sorry to hear it. While the flying can be challenging it was the theory that I found the most difficult. I wouldn't give up completely though, you could always do a trial flight to get a better idea of what's involved.
@@CupcakesLanders it’s more of a getting accepted thing than an ability thing. I’m sure I’d do fine :/

This videos always brings me smile 😃 ☺ 😊. Thank you for your work.
The return of the king! Yet another beautiful video!
10/10 -- will smoke up to this again
So awesome! 😆
Thank you sir! I have to say you're doing a great job keeping me abreast of all the latest spaceflight developments. 😎
@@CupcakesLanders Thanks mate. I still like to watch some sweet KSP content from y'all though. Have always loved your work here.
I Love the cheeky little lift of the lander leg to release the other vehicle 😆 . And you always have some great music, usually artists and selections I've not heard before! Everything from some Spacehog on "little ship big adventure" 7 years ago (back just before Kerbal v 1.0); to a little ElectroSwing by Rockethead, and everything in between. It all comes together and is a real treat every time! Thank You for this early Holiday gift!
Mr pleasure! 😁
This channel is the underlying reason for my taste in music
There's so much great music out there, the challenge is finding it. 🎶
Even better after all these years! This has to be the best one yet!
Also glad to see you're still using that flag I made you years ago!
You can't improve on perfection. 😃
I love your unique designs, and your piloting skills are just as impressive!
Thanks for that big smile on my face, mate. Jamiroquai in combination with the most amazing vessel design just do that for me...
These vids are like audio and visual masterpieces. #chefskiss
Thanks!
god i love your designs so much.. its been almost a year since i thought about you and they are still so amazing!
You’ll be pleased to hear another video is in production. Prepare to have your socks well and truly blown off!
oh man i cannoy wait...@@CupcakesLanders
If I could choose between Linux or cupcake landers to teach me how to play this, I would choose cupcake landers.
Hot damn. The whole thing's slick as hell, well worth the wait 😎
Thankyou sir, much appreciated! Hope the projects going well. 😊
What a great solution to the ice cube shortage. Now, patrons in bars and restaurants all over Kerbin can finally get cold drinks again!
🤔
@@CupcakesLanders made a typo haha so maybe it didn't make sense
I watch cupcake landers for good disco/funk music on perfect kerbal adventure
Absolutely brilliant! this must’ve taken ages! Not sure what the robot with the red eye did to the Kerbal, but it looks like, lunch? missed the blooper reel, but had a great time watching anyway. can’t wait for your next masterpiece! 😎👍
Thankyou kind sir! I'm still astonished by your mastery of flags, the possibilities are almost endless. 🏁

This channel is the true spirit of KSP!
I can't believe I never thought to wonder what Cupcake would do with Parallax 2. It was extra-good, a real treat to watch! But I especially like the opening sequence where it looks for a moment like there's a portal to another universe inside a cargo bay. :) What parts mod is that? It looks really versatile.
Wow... thought u couldn't top your other videos. You really created a world and aesthetic that's so immersive!
Thank you! 😊
this shit is why i stayed subscribed, fucking super impressive.
Thankyou!
You would be great at hooning in Elite Dangerous. ;)
OMG best ksp-channel

Your piloting skills are epic 🔥😎👍
Thanks ✌
Damn is this parallax 2.0 by gayslinx?
Great video, and music selection, as always 👍! But, side note: what must have been happened to the lady astronaut in the blue space suit at 4:55 - bleeding from the head, and with a pretty rumpled looking helmet... I've seen Kerbals falling off the top of the VAB on Kerbin, impacting on the ground, and just standing up and walking away, without a scratch to them (or their helmet), so - somehow, she must have had a *really* bad landing...
I'd substitute the word landing for crash, but yeah, you get the idea.
@@CupcakesLanders Seriously, if they look like that after a _crash_ , how much does it take to _really_ hurt a Kerbal? I can almost see it: Kerbal falling into a black hole ⚫️, and coming out the 'other side' with the immortal words: "...I think I pulled a muscle..." Maybe they should start making their spaceships out of the same kind of indestructible dark matter or whatever they're made of themselves - less **BOOM** 😄...
looks beutiful
Is your job outside of youtube cinamotography? these camera angles and movements are so slick
I used to work in the film industry a long time ago but that was post production. Other then that I'm just a film/tv nerd.
All the time i was thinking the outtakes are gonna be hilarious. But then there were none 😓
I'll squeeze some in next time.

Lovely video, as alaways!

What happened to one of the kerbals? I noticed a busted up helmet and blood on the face.
ua-cam.com/video/qAyvc70beZ8/v-deo.html
What visual pack do you use? I recognise parallax but what other visual mods do you use?
Spectra and Scatterer are the main ones.
How long does the fuel last in those little awesome EVA vehicles?
Longer then it used to. It now has x4 tanks instead of x1.
@@CupcakesLanders ah, clipped inside each other? Makes sense
@@casualbird7671 Yeah, but done in way that you don't see any z-fighting.
@@CupcakesLanders I always loved the idea of little EVA vehicles like this, but never wanted to make it work with fuel tank clipping. If only we could use the super dense RCS fuel packed inside their jetpacks!
@@casualbird7671 I have included a single tank version for the clipping averse. It works great on lower gravity worlds like Minmus or Pol.
I should've figured you'd jump on the Parallax bandwagon! Such an amazing mod, with so many chances to do shenanigans.
Your PC must be a beast, though, because I jumped several tiers over my old prebuilt on this new PC with the CPU and GPU (Ryzen 5 1600 to Ryzen 7 5800x, and Radeon RX 580 4gb to RX 6700xt 12gb) and I'm still just squeaking out 68-70 fps with all the important visual mods +parallax. Granted, having collisions turned on isn't helping any!
My PC is struggling a bit, as you can see even 30fps was a bit of a stretch in places. I am planning on upgrading my rig next year so hopefully things will look a bit smoother in future.
@@CupcakesLanders Honestly man, it already looks very smooth, though I'm watching at 360p 30 fps because I have very bad internet, so maybe there's things I'm not noticing. An upgraded PC will definitely help, though.
How do you pilot 2 craft at the same time?
There's a mod called Burn Together.
@@CupcakesLanders Thanks mate. Are there any other mods that you find useful for making cinematics?
