With an owl infestation putting the main launch pad out of action all rocketeering would now have to be conducted thousands of miles away at Woomerang. A lack of assembly buildings, canteens, spare parts or portaloos meant the poor ground crews would have to schlep everything all the way from the KSC. Not only that, they'd somehow have to stack the rocket stages on the pad too. Apparently they're using a newly developed cargo drone to do it. It certainly sounds safer then the rope, pulleys and pack horses they used last time. However they do it I hope for Bob's sake it comes together quickly. He's still waiting to be rescued from the oceans of Laythe after he put the decimal point in the wrong place when inputting his landing coordinates. While Bob's plight is of course upmost in our minds we also have to salvage the very expensive SSTO he was using before the rust sets in. If we lose another one of those spacecraft then I am not going to be the one to break the news to the accountants.
When I was developing a larger cargo drone to supplement the Can I wasn't expecting any massive leaps in performance. If I'd doubled the payload capacity to 5t or 6t I would have been happy. What I was not expecting however was a lifting capacity of 12t which is just ridiculous considering the things only weigh 0.8t! As you've probably noticed the main difference between the two models is the colour (duh) & the fact the Martha model comes with a claw, allowing it to latch on to debris or crafts without any docking ports, all of which makes it a very useful salvage craft. Using the Ferry mode makes the crafts easier to control when docking and gives you a wider throttle response vs the high lift mode. Both designs can fit inside Mk2 cargo bays or you use MK3's if you need to land a robotic invasion force.
Also fresh out the oven is my first shuttle design in well... I can't remember if I've even made one before? While I was never a fan of the RL space shuttle concept I'm quite pleased with how this one's come together. It's practical, versatile, has good handling for its size and can land vertically on most of the planets/moons in the Kerbal system including Kerbin.
Last but certainly not least we have the Queen Mary; a massive heavy transporter built to drive very big things around. The transporter has been tested at gradients of 45°. I'm not sure why you'd want to traverse terrain like that but it's good to know it can. The Rev limit has been capped at 100. You can set it faster but again I'm not sure you'd want to really! Other features include independent rear steering and an extendable chassis. This design offers much finer control over the speed vs my ATV designs. Basically you press 9 to change the revs and 9 again once you reach the required RPM or it maxes out. You can set the revs to speed up or slow down by hitting 8 and 0 respectively. I hope this makes sense! The transporter seems to occasionally explode when launching for reasons I can't fathom. However if it loads successfully it seems to be pretty stable. I've added rudimentary electrical power however I'd recommend changing this to suit whatever mission you use the transporter for.
For our soundtrack this week we feature an effortless slice of cool from the legendary Roxy Music trailblazer; Brian Ferry. I came across this track while watching the fantastic German series Babylon Berlin, where my Mr Ferry makes a cameo appearance. I'd highly recommend buying the album and watching the series that inspired its creation. I don't own the rights to this recording this is fan love pure and simple.

Oh this? Just the best pilot in KSP flexing with ground-based reconfiguration. Insanity.
Beautiful! Simple yet elegant in design. Also I loved the little golden dingy! I can't wait to see what you build in KSP 2. ;)
Same here!
True! I can't imagine what Cupcake's imagination will bring to us. But i'm definitely looking forward to it.
Thank you for including outtakes. I just knew seeing that thing slam that engine down on the pad, that can't have survived first try XD
Dude... your creations are so therapeutic to my soul. The music, colors, everything. Never thought a silly, fun little KSP video could do that.
I've literally shared your videos with people having a hard time, because I found the music and video so calming.
Keep up the good work.
Will do mate, and thankyou for the lovely feedback it's always great to hear. 😀
I want to say that it is good to see this old unchanging channel still coming with some videos from time to time.
Cupcake landers: The most underrated ksp channel on youtube
I don't know how you pull it off but somehow every video is more impressive than the last
Thankyou!
Glorious as ever, Cupcake! Very nifty parachute-assisted switch from lateral to vertical docking, and I see you're making a habit of using superior custom wheels. It's all just so neat. What exactly does the drone use for the source of propulsion?
I think its propellers
Thanks dude! Coming from you that means a lot 😀. The drones use counter rotating medium fan blades driven by small rotors. They're powered by small solar panels mounted around the top of the craft.
@@CupcakesLanders Hogwash! It's clearly using next generation gravity defying technology lol
Damn what is in that little spherical drone thing? Your creations and videos are always so fun! 😃😀😃
Propellers & thankyou!
Kind of in shock that you actually used a crewed command module for once.
Me too.
I wish EDFs were this powerful in real life...
Beautiful. I always get comfortable and put it on full screen. made my day!
I imagine a lot of people watch it on their phones while using the water closet so it’s nice to see someone going the extra effort. 😉
Can't imagine how many shots it took to make this masterpiece, and the skills and effort too!!
Thanks very much!
Another masterpiece 👌
Cheers!
This guy just never stop amazing me.
CupCake is a genius :D
Ahh, I love this channel, so much. It’s so adorably charming, especially with that music. In addition, ur epic feats make this one of (if not the) best KSP channels on Yt
Beautiful!
as always
Thank you! 😀
Witchcraft is what it is. He has magical powers. No human could do something like this. He is a far superior being of much higher power
That is one strong drone.
So well made!
they're even friend shaped! :)
Indeed!
Yay! Cupcake is back!
Me building the most insane things in orbit out of spare parts...
Meanwhile Cupcake:
Man your so underrated!
Home sweet home now it is drone sweet drone
I wouldn't think those little drones would be able to lift such a large fuel tank like that. Sheesh! I wonder if an electric rotorcraft would work like that for a Laythe lander... Its been soo long since i've done a successful Jool 5 mission. I keep designing craft for it, then discarding them because I have trouble with the delta-v requirements.
They would. However you wouldn’t be able to get enough speed to reach orbital velocity using the props alone.
Love the bulbous shaped pods
Da legend bakk
It's so cute :3
those drones are so cute :D
I admire your work so much!
It inspires me for new episodes of my new series... hopefully I can get to see more great videos :)
That’s lovely to hear thankyou! Best of luck with your upcoming videos. 😎
What are your visual Mods?
Scatterer & EVE.
Beautiful as always! Why no parallax mod?
I happen to think the HQ stock textures actually look rather nice.
Where is the old zealand
What is that thing?
What would you like it to be?
We're you using one if the kraken drives? How did you get it so small yet powerful?
No Kraken drives here sir, this is all legit.
What motors did you use to get the levitation?
Two small rotors with medium fan blades.
That's alot of lifting power! Really nice, thank you
All good.
You using any mods for this?
I can't seem to recognise some of the parts
It's stock + DLC.
@@CupcakesLanders O.O
I guess now you can guess whether I own the DLCs or not, lol
I'm guessing not!
Bu…wai…bu…but ho…butbut…b…NO HE DID NOT! NO the…mmmmmmm…this…thi…HUH
-me who hasn’t done a round trip to duna after a year of playing ksp
I'm sure you'll get there soon, after that you can think about the Jool system a perhaps a return trip to Eve. 😉
Chonky drone
bulbous bot
This is the 69th comment.
Nice.
