  • I think I'm in love.... First and foremost a massive thank you to Great Eastern Model Railway based in Norwich for making me a my brother so welcome and allowing me to part with my money. lol.
Right where to start. This is so much better than I could ever imagine.
I have so many wagons basically of any era and I try and match up locos with the wagons that I've collected over the years, that also includes many vacuumed and non fitted braked wagons from the 1940's on wards. So with the wagons sitting, waiting a plan was set into place. On my radar are a few steam engines and very early diesels.
As I've purchased a Bachmann class 37 already and knowing the quality I was on the lookout. The long awaited "popping down" (up) to Great Eastern Model Railways was the opportunity was set. A sound loco (non deluxe) was sitting in the glass cabinet had my name written all over it along with any more items.
The over all appearance really is incredible to the over all lighting, the cab detailing to the legible print on the end of the wheel bearing covers. When this loco moves round the layout with a 1950's freight it really does blow me away.
The very, very small down sides are that it comes with only a brief history about the class 37, nothing that corresponds with this particular loco, like where it ran, pictures of it in service etc...And the main one is that the nose of the loco and the body are two different parts meaning that there is a very slight visible join between the two parts.
These are stupidly small negatives and I am really nitpicking, trust me when I say the loco looks and sounds amazing and worth every single penny.
Would I recommend you get one......HELL YA.
    Enjoy.

Agree, all new locos should come with drivers to suit eras, possibly one in each end. Beautiful model for sure. Seen Accurascale and TBH they’re both excellent…..looking at this maybe Bachmann has the edge. Prices are still obviously too high whatever make.
    Great no nonsense review 👍

Thankyou, ya for what a driver would cost and for how how much there made for abroad...it is what it is. Lol. Accurascale Class 37 coming in the next few months so I'll be able to compare. Glad you like the video. Cheers for the comment. 👍

Having bought sound and deluxe along with the Accurascale offerings. I found both Deluxe had noisey gears and the sound is disapointing speakers rattle even with sound turned down, Accurascale got that right on there 37 after the let down of the 55, I said on my look at the 37 there not worth the premium price, fortunately I grabbed my pair of deluxe models at £189ea. So I`ll improve them but if they`d have been anywhere near rrp I would have returned them

Absolutely agree, the Accurascale is beautiful to listen too, but I don't hate the sound on the Bachmann model.
Ya thankfully most or all shops are selling it for a lot lot less, and now with Accurascale with its little niggles and faults the Bachmann doesn't look so bad. Lol
Wow that's a good price. 👍. I have had problems with two of my Bachmann 37s, Sir Murray Morrison which was really noisy (possibly motor issue) but all sorted now and another one that I haven't done an umboxing on yet (that does sound like I gear issue at one end) and that is getting shorted next week. I think either way they all have there little problems and hopefully they will get ironed out over time. I do have an Accurascale Class 37 sound on order. Good luck in on improving them. 👍👍

Hi, great video review, that is a nice looking class 37 you have there, did you consider the Accurascale version of this loco? Apparently it’s a better loco in performance and value according to the videos I have seen, I have seen a few retailers selling them even though Accurascale have sold out of them.
Is your 9F an Bachmann model? I have a mint old Hornby made in England model in my collection which runs like a dream, I would like to get a new Hornby 9F when the prices come down or I see one in the winter sales, thanks for sharing.

Thankyou again 👍....It really is stunning to look at and when you see it in person going round with freight it makes all the little niggles non-existent. Lol.
Well, to be honest yes, but by the time I made a train plan (so I don't over spend on unnecessary locos and wagons) and I had saved enough money most of the Accurascale locos had sold out, so I "sort of" waited until the price of the Bachmann 37s came back down to earth. And low and behold shops started to sell them cheaper so now it doesn't bother me which make I go for. I've brought some more 37s (bachmann) so I can almost guarantee they will run the same speed as each other when I run double or even triple headed......watch this space😉.
The stunning 9f is my bros and that ine come from Bachmann. To be fair the Hornby one is just as stunning so it's like take your pick. Lol.
Good luck in looking for the 9f, you'll find it, it just takes time and you can't rush when spending that sort of money. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks again.👍👍

@@mrmartinb1615 Hi, i only have Hornby steam trains at the moment because i didn't like the way the motor drive gears keep failing and not a fan of the split chassis, if things have changed then i might invest in one, until then i will stick to Hornby steam trains because they have a bigger range, when it comes to diesel trains i have a far bigger Bachmann collection, i believe Bachmann have a bigger and better range than Hornby and are better in general in my opinion, i hope Bachmann produce a class 43 HST because i'm sick of Hornby having a huge piece of the market! i have 4 HST sets of which 2 are 21pin offerings, the roof fans in the 21pin variants are a pile of crap! overpriced underdeveloped rubbish, i'm happy that Bachmann are bringing out a HST prototype next year that looks very nice indeed, i hope and prey they produce a dummy car and barrier coaches to go with it, this could be Bachmann entering the HST race, my only worry with Bachmann is their very inflated prices, not all modellers have Swiss bank accounts.

@@StormmyStormmyNo thats fair enough, everybody has there preference. Hornby have come a long way in the years.
The massive advantage with Bachmann diesel locos is that they use the motor in the middle meaning a heavier loco and more pulling power, so a win win.
To be honest I've never had any personal experience with the Hornby HST, it looks amazing but like you say to big a piece of the market and price. I wouldn't say no to having one on my layout when I get one. Ya the HST prototype look stunning.
Do you know if there was an entire train made in real life at all?
😂😂very true with the inflation thing, just look at the 37s, and with my first class 37 deluxe I'm already having trouble with it, a nasty vibration when running at low speeds, cornering etc. It's hopefully getting sorted very soon. I don't have a Swiss bank account it would be nice, I'm just a wise spender. Lol. 👍

@@mrmartinb1615 Hi, I’m a big HST fan, it’s a shame Hornby are the only manufacturer whom produce them because they’ve cut corners on design and development and hiked up prices, it’s about time another manufacturer make a good model great, the Bachmann prototype is a real train the National Railway Museum, the purists would want just the power car as is, as a model railway enthusiasts I would like a dummy car and a couple of barrier coaches in the same livery to compete the set so to speak, this is easily achievable by Bachmann.
In regard to your class 37 with the vibration i have seen a video on what causes it and the fix to stop it, I can’t remember which UA-camr it was who posted the video as it was last year, if or when I find it I will let you know.

Nice loco I think people are saying the accurascale class 37s are better I think itscdown to different people's preference I think the price on accurascale swings it and also the ease of getting to the decodervwithout taking the body off and also weight of the loco.Anyway like you stated it also has its good points so down to personal preference.I also like your hornby 9f is that tsmxs fitted sounds good and you have a fantastic layout enjoy
