IT'S ARRIVED ..NEW Accurascale D6992 .. Sound .. The Incredible History .. Batch 2
This incredible loco was bought from the amazing Great Eastern Models in Norwich. The reason why I ended up buying this loco was to replace my old 15 year old Bachmann class 37 142 which at the time was a Kernow special edition loco. What I didn't know was the incredible history what this loco has. The main reason why Accurascale recreated this loco in this particular form is that this is the highest recorded numbered 'class 37' with the 'new' BR blue paint, new alphabet style and on all four cab sides and a new corporate identity, The British Rail Double Arrow. With all that this loco still retaining the pre-fix numbering and the D to define that it's a diesel.
This loco is the usual stunning quality from Accurascale from end to end top to bottom and with the incredible class 37 sound.
Enjoy

Just like to say a massive thank you to Rob who invited me to come along with him to play big boy trains. He got back into model trains during lock down and it was Rob that sold me the Revolution Trains TEA Tank wagons in the EWS colours. Fast forward a few months and he wanted to rekindle his child hood when his uncle used to run 5 inch gauge trains. So to start off he settled for a King Scale...

Sorry but I've notice that part of this video the sound doesn't match the visual, not sure why. This little video is to do with the crazy savings that you can achieve on a Black Friday deal. I bought a complete freight train and why not. I ended up buying the MDV 21t ton mineral wagon. The advantage of buying direct from Accurascale themselves is they offer the more you buy the more you save sc...

Very nice!
Martin happy new year to you and your family, Just one request can you start with a PROPER amount of biscuits, Stop trying to con us with just 2 ! Take care friend.
Martin the tablet catcher was for picking up single line tokens without stopping not just on iron ore trains. They had a 1365hp Mirlees engine being replaced with an English Electric power unit at 1470hp a great loco with this power unit. Great videos be proud. One tail light to start with then two it was a change in rules. Centre non powered axles was to distribute weight they were heavy locos.
@@keithgrafton3067 Thankyou so much for that info. The paperwork didn't elaborate too much on where the tablet catcher was used so thankyou for adding to that. It sounds incredible to hear that English Electric start up and run, also making the Mirrlees engine sound boring lol. (even though a couple of class 37's had them and the class 60) That's interesting to know about the rules changing regarding the use of tail lights. Thank you again. 👍👍
Great video. I grew up in Cambridge, right near the old marshalling yard where Cambridge North station now sits. My layout name is taken from the area I lived.
An excellent review, as we've come to expect from you Martin! Thank you. Incidentally, very disappointingly my recent purchases of Accurascale's batch 2 class 37s have STILL got the original DCC sound issue! The sound cuts out a second after turning it on. This is due to the large Accurathrash speaker being 4 ohms instead of 8 ohms. I have had to buy and change all the speakers to 8 ohms in 6 locos at £15 each! Really, Accurascale should have resolved this, but no, they are still selling the 37s with 4 ohm speakers! The actual issue is that they designed/manufactured the speaker circuit in parallel (there's 2 speakers in each loco) instead of series, which effects the impedance across the DCC chip's amplifier circuit. In-parallel circuit wiring divides resistance or impedance where as in-series circuit wiring adds resistances/impedances. Because Accurascale's speaker circuit wiring is in parallel, the impedance on/across the 37's speaker circuit is too low for the DCC chip to handle, it's out of ESU's specification, and so the chip's safety feature cuts off the sound to protect itself. Richard at Roads and Rails did a YT video on this quite some time ago explaining exactly this issue! Accurascale's advice/remedy is to reduce the volume via CV63 from 192 down to 150. This is not really good enough or acceptable on the second run/batch, seeing as the problem is well known from the first run/batch! Prolonged use with the wrong (too low) impedance across the sound chip can cause it to fail completely! These chips are expensive! Apart from that major concern I'd say these locos are superb. Anyway Martin, a brilliant video as usual. Thank you so much for your efforts, it's really appreciated. Kind regards, Julian.
@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 Thank you, thank you thank you Julian, hope your keeping well and had an amazing Christmas. Oh know that's not good at all. Wow, I'm surprised by that not......trouble probably being is the "bigger" changes are happening in batch 3 locos, operating fan, better details and "maybe" issues sorted on the speaker side of things. Who knows 🤷♂️. Can you notice a difference in sound between the speakers at all? Ya its definitely money you don't want to be spending out when you've already spent shed loads. Wow that's incredible to know about parallel and series, I didn't know that. (A little above my head) I'll have to check out that video, sounds really interesting. It would be a really shame to have to turn the volume down on something this and like you say its not acceptable. Probably guessing that when they found out about the problems in batch one batch it was too late to change batch 2...hence the issues......as it stands all of my Accurascale locos have been faultless ( Touch wood) but I've had to send 2 out of the four of my Bachmann class 37's back due to motor and gearbox issues. Its a bit of a pain, but it got all sorted in the end. Thankyou again for the kind words Julian and very much appreciated, glad you enjoyed it. 👍👍. Martin.
@@mrmartinb1615 Hello Martin, No there's no difference in sound between the 4 Ohm and the 8 Ohm versions of Accurathrash speakers. They should be fitting the 8 Ohm ones now as standard in the class 37s to alleviate the sound cutting out issue, but no, they are still selling them with the 4 Ohm speakers! They even sell the 8 Ohm versions on their website so it's not to do with supply or no knowing! In the past I've had dodgy motors in Bachmann class 37s, which is actually the same fault as on the first releases of all the Accurascale classes: clogged commutators from super soft carbon brush debris. The Bachmann class 90s can suffer broken bogie mounting columns where the factory has over tightened the bogie attaching screws and also their pantograph servos are pathetically fragile: the tiny cog gear always breaks! I've had both of those issues multiple times! Regards Julian
Hi mr Martin Nice video, enjoy your presentation style, always jealous of the biscuits 😋Really enjoyed the potted history of your 37 👍🏻 I have an Accurascale 31 & 37, (a couple of 50’s on pre-order) both your locos 27:57 look and sound superb but….if only all manufacturers and individuals who painstakingly develop the sound files would make the horns sound realistic too. They mostly sound as though they have been loaded from a generic file and don’t have the depth or individuality (mostly) between differed classes of loco.
@@Cromptonman Thank you so much, I'm still finding my groove with it but I'm pretty happy how things are turning out. 🤣🤣not going to lie, the biscuits were pretty naughty. 👍 Cheers, its trying to find the history and then trying to make sense of it all. Lol. Like the experimental engine change to a 2000 HP unit..... I read ot somewhere, but that was all the information on it, and that was it....🤷♂️..so not sure if it is still fitted or not. Thank you, I do love the sound of the English Electric and I think they have captured it very well. And if that's anything to go by the 50 is going to sound incredible too. What liveries do you have? Ya so very true with the development. Thankyou again. 👍👍
@ my era is early 80’s-very early 90’s. My ‘train spotting’ and photography began in the early 60’s though. (Westerns, Warships, Hymeks) I love the banger blue era in to early sectorisation especially NSE and ‘Dutch’ livery. Just picked up my baseboards, so hoping to crack on soon 👍🏻 Luckily my railway room is just off the kitchen so there will be a ready supply of tea, coffee and biscuits 😋
@Cromptonman 🤣🤣🤣🤣...your ready to rock and sausages roll, that sounds like the perfect location. 👍....An amazing are to modern aswell. Good luck. 👍
The 37s are gorgeous locos, with irl and in model form, and accurascale does it the best!
@jackstrains4468 ya they certainly have, if the Bachmann models used better speakers I would have trouble telling them apart. Both amazing model, but Accurascale top it on sound. 👍👍
I've got this loco. First model I've brought from Accurascale. And I'm very impressed with it runs well pulls a tone of wagons . The sound is fantastic. And looks great. And I'm going to blame you guys on you tube for the reviews telling us how great these models are. So i just had to get one .
@@alanwagstaff16 Ya they are stunning and I would be surprised if you found something that it didn't pull. Lol. 🤣🤣....hey I'm happy to except that one, after all they stunning models. What til you see whatbi have turning up at the end of this month. 😉...👍
@mrmartinb1615 it pulls 33 sand hopper up an in incline no problem. 🙂

Hi Martin lovely video of 31 438 at her new home 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much, I pass in the message. Ya it is a stunning loco, beautiful to drive. 👍
@ hi Martin yes it’s very quick 😃👍🏻👍🏻
@@mrmrst9020 Ya scarily quick, the previous owner reckons about 25 mph.
@@mrmartinb1615 yes about 18mph we did on it that was my friend who was at my house when you both collected it from my place 👍🏻👍🏻
@@mrmrst9020 Now the penny has dropped. 🤦♂️....sorry now I remember who this is...lol...Ya Rob has done a lot to it. He changes nearly everything over from his Hymek (hence the sound) but I actually haven't heard with a class 31 sound yet. It was so easy to use and opening her up a little on the back strange (slight curve) it really was amazing. I keep joking with Rob that he should 15 HAA coal wagons but he has caved in yet. I think he's got enough in his plate with the Royal Scot. Lol. I'm sure he'll surprise me one day. 🤣🤣. It always feels quick when your that close to the ground aswell. 👍👍
Hi Mr. Martin. Wow that looked a fantastic day out. Can't get over the size of the railway, got everything on it. Is the power supply via the third rail? What a lovely setting as well. Did a miniature railway myself this year first time I've been on one, loved every minute of it. Burr valley railway did a vlog on it. When you're low down like that everything seems faster 😊. Had to end it with a steamer.👍 Thank you for sharing this with us. Thumbs up thumped 👍 .... Pete....
@@delphjunction1168 Ya it really was incredible and I'm honoured to of had the invite. I cant wait to see the Royal Scot, that'll be stunning and ya it really is a massive site. So the extra lines that you see are: the inner loop has 3 inch, 5 inch and 7 1/4 inch where the outer loop mainly has 5 inch and 7 1/4 inch. Wow, it really is on a different league and scale (No pun intended) to the usual 00 loco I used to. lol. It can be a real amazing day watching all these miniature locos moving round. Thank you, I loved that view as well just a little awkward to hold. lol. Ya it was a shame that we couldn't get it heated up....oh well. Your more than welcome Pete, my pleasure. Thank you. 👍👍

Ya you know, well I thought I'd treat myself as I've being really really good. lol. Plus I don't see many second hand Revolution Train TEA tank wagon.....And I don't have any in the lite green. That's 26 now in total.....just as well I have one or two class 60's coming. Depending on which class 60 turns up first will depend what you see first.🤣🤣 And with the lobster wagons they will fit right in with the Dapol JNA Network Rail wagons.....It's all going to plan.....ish. lol. 👍👍
@mrmartinb1615 oooh, can't wait to see these 60s!
@jackstrains4468 You and me both, they are going to be amazing.....Between me, you and the gate posts I've order 5 of them. As it stands 3 from Cavalex and 2 from Accurascale. ops...lol. I think the Cavalex are arriving at the end of January/February time. 👍
@mrmartinb1615 wow, this'll stay a secret! Can you do a comparison video please, I'd love to get a 60 from either cavalex, accurascale or hornby, and im not sure which one is best!
@jackstrains4468 To be honest with Cavalex and Accurascale you would not be disappointed with, both models will more than likely be breathe taking. I have two old hornby models (8 pin non sound) and to look at still stunning and a beautiful running (motor in the middle great pulling power)......but with the other two they are going to be just that little better all over. If you would be happy with the Hornby sound class 60 get one........but again I'd just save the extra £30/£40/£50 and the daddy, Accurascale or Cavalex. I cant't wait lol. I will try to get round to doing a comparison video it might be a while though. Thank you, mum's the word. lol 👍👍
Very interesting video. Thank you for taking time in your life to film this footage. The South section of the Cambridge Busway was built on the formation of the London & North Western line from Bedford via Sandy. This has separate over bridge on Long Road. The Junction which you film at is called Shepreth Branch Junction. Network Rail is moving the switch and crossing on the Down Main further North of its current position. This is why the track bed in your video is being widen on the Trumpington side of line. Christmas 2024 should see a major engineering procession to make all four lines through Cambridge South operational. Bad luck for any one to London for football league events over the break.
@@tonybarfield5148 Ya it really something different and as I don't see this very often and your more than welcome. Wow, thankyou so much for the extra information, ok it's starting to make sense now and answering a few questions and some exciting times ahead. Lol. Thankyou again for extra info. 👍👍

@@martinleigh6904 Wow, thank you so much for the information. Always nice to know. 👍
Great watch. Not easy working under the wires like that and with all the various ‘ furniture’ in the way. The track laying should be equally impressive, especially with a switch being laid. You’ll need to get that on film!

@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 Thank you so much Julian, Ya it was something that I could miss and I so glad I didn't, definitely worth it, Your more than welcome Julian. 👍👍
I thought it was real😂
Being honest here mate, doesn't look as realistic as the new powerhaul livery 66 from accurascale! All jokes aside, lovely loco and great shot mate!
😂😂😂😂Now that is very true lol. Ya it was a opportunity that couldn't be missed, worth getting cold for. Lol. 🤣. Cheers bud.
Recently a friend of mine laughed at me for still having the stickers on the shelf brackets. Mainly because he also has on his, as they are impossible to get off. Nice to see we're not the only ones. I have been thinking out one of these locos, they look really good - nice video!
Hey everybody has their 'thing' lol and the loco are incredible they really are, beautiful to look that and listen to as well. Thank you so much. 👍👍
Hey lovely locomotive, Aswell another thing that’s lovely is that bridge, Do you possibly know what make it is?. Cheers
@@Inlandcub2 thankyou, ya really is a stunning loco. The bridge is as far as I'm aware is a Walthers bridge. 👍👍 your welcome.
Hey, cheers You’ve got a sub keep it up pal!
@@Inlandcub2 Thank you so much 👍👍
Upon seeing this one. I am getting even more excited for their upcoming Class 60. I hope they will consider doing an N Gauge model of both the Class 60 and the Class 66 as well as an O Gauge Class 60 in the future. I have bought another Hornby Class 60 in Loadhaul as a stop gap until I get the Accurascale Class 60 also in Loadhaul. The Hornby one has been renumbered so it won't conflict with my other Class 60 from Accurascale. I am super excited. I am sure I might have seen 66167 working on the DRAX trains around Barnetby back in 2017 I think. It is a nice livery. Awesome video and layout as always mate. All the best, Peter.
@@BritishRail60062 The class 60s ate going to be epic....I've ordered from both manufacturers....so can't wait. Mmm as of the moment Accurascale don't do N gauge but Cavalex does....just have to wait and see, Revolution Trains do N though, so watch this space. To be honest with you I have two of the Hornby class 60s and they are stunning (non sound) Loadhaul And Mainline blue. But they are the 8 pin and unfortunately the world has moves on some what. You should be excited cos they will be amazing model......and so they should be, if my Hornby ones were 21 pin with sound I probably wouldn't of ordered the ones I have. Now I have to admit that there is something about seeing a loco and having it your own collection and ya it really is stunning in the red. Thankyou so so much Peter, I glad you enjoyed the video, take care, Martin. 👍
Great stuff martin, I'm hoping for that freightliner class 66 for christmas, you're review came in very handy while deciding! Lovely hattons 66, and those wagons are beautiful :)
Thank you so much and thank you for the kind words. Its really is stunning the Hattons 66 and the Accurascale model and I'm sure you will not be disappointed. Thank you again......Wait til I get my class 60 with 30 of the tank wagons 😉😜👍
@@mrmartinb1615 ooh, can't wait! I'm not sure if I've said before but I'm new to your channel, and although it won't make a huge difference, consider yourself 1 sub higher!
@@jackstrains4468 Well thank you so much, every little help and trust me I have some amazing unboxinges coming along with a layout build. Thank you again. 👍👍

Excellent running session fron you and wow great choice, a lovely new Redshed 167 , you love it i know you do! Excellent choice of wagons there, wull you be ordering any class 59's Dapol only was thinking rhey would be perfect for the forthcoming Hanson liveries. I was a naughty boy yesterday, ordered from Rails the Colas class 37116 sound fitted, i had no choice as they only had a stock level if two! Please dont tell the other half! Really enjoyed this, amazing channel you run, tqke care and thanks for sharing Nick Redshed 66077.
Thank you so much. The camera doesn't do it justice, but still look good. lol. Ya your very much right, well when you spend that sort of money I want to love it. 👍. I love the contrast between the two. Ya I have, I now have three on order with sound 😁😁😁. Now that will be naughty and that'll be amazing loco and you'll be proud to run it......even more so with it's sound. 👍. The floors will shake. lol. Well your secret is save with me. lol. @@mrmartinb1615Thanks for your great reply, oh no just noticed the Accurascale on its website 37418 in its Loram livery, exclusive edition, batch three quarter four 2025, and of coarse with working fans, OMG im so tempted! I love the livery, already have the two Hornby coaches and the 08 shunter.
@@RedShedNick Your welcome, Honestly do it, get it cos you can pay monthly. That's what I've done with batch 3 of the class 66's and class 60. Do it, it makes sense. 👍👍

@@breintonjunction791 Wow, bet they are all stunning in livery colors. I love that they are doing the charity locos. Ya i bet, that latest locos and wagons I pay monthly as its a little nicer on the wallet. lol. Take care. Martin

Excellent mate 👌🏻 lovely running session 👍🏻
Thank you so much. 👍👍
4 axle drive not 4 wheel drive, exactly like the prototype btw centre axle on prototype and model has smaller diameter wheels! That is attention to detail
Thank you for featuring Alville 1957 - much appreciated. You really caught the atmosphere I was trying to convey. It was a most enjoyable day and I hope the event is repeated.
Your more than welcome, thank you for showing it off, it looks incredible and sounds amazing. Great work. A beautiful layout to watch. 👍👍
Check out your view count buddy! Nice one. Mine is coming, should be out tomorrow. I had hoped for it to be out by the weekend but wasn't able to record the narration until today, after i'd got back from Spalding. Thanks for the shout out too, and was no bother at all.
