I have both radios. The TRUSDX is simply amazing for such a small package, it does so much for the price point. The G90 has become my favorite, I bought it last spring and haven't used anything else since I purchased it. Your review was spot on! Enjoy the channel.
Thank you for this fantastic video! In fact, I've been using the (tr)uSDX for a year, it's my first HF transceiver. Recently I've got a second, and G90 was in my short-list, but ultimately I picked the Discovery TX-500, because for me low power drain and small package are everything. - 73 R1BNG
@@EvanK2EJT Yeah I wish I could afford the Icom-705, but unfortunately the TX-500 already hits my price ceiling right now. Thank you for your kind words to its developers, actually I make my living by producing road traffic cams and I'm aware about how difficult is making fine civilian electronic devices in Russia at present time.
Love the series. Figured right off the bat that the G90 was going to win, but it was a good comparison. One benefit of the truSDX is that it is so small and you can do SSB on it. It would actually make a better backup radio than the G90 just for that reason. However, if you are only going to have one radio, I'd hate to be stuck with only the truSDX. Still, I might have to pick one up now that you mentioned that the firmware has improved performance. I think that the SW3B is going to be my backup field rig, so I better get that one first. Thanks for the series. Loving to see how the radios compare to each other....73
Yeah, the (tr)uSDX wouldn't be my first choice as a main radio.....or my second.....or thirteenth LOL, but it makes a great backup since it's so small and light (and inexpensive). The G90 mops the floor with it in every other way.
Love my trusdx... It's my 5th hf radio. It's a fun way to challenge yourself in making contacts more strategically through qrp. Love using it on work trips where I'm flying around and can activate pota anywhere i go with almost nothing. G90 is double awesome. Don't own one but hopefully will at some point.
I have both and love the G90, Bought the (tr) uSDX for Back packing. Just got the talent cell battery for it today, what size is that 90 degree power plug you have? I really don't want to cut and splice if I don't have to. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
I think a fair comparison would be the ubitx. Very similar even when it comes to cost. I had a G90 and thought it was OK but went whole hog and bought a used kx3. Nothing touches it. Love your videos.

I hate the (tr)usdx and had a G90, replaced it with an FT-891. For CW the G90 is terrible, there’s no good way of filtering the bandwidth, so it becomes a cacophony of noise if anyone is nearby. I usually have my filters set to 100hz on my add and 891. I’m just waiting on my QMX to come from qrp labs, and I imagine I’ll retire the sdx at that point 😢.
I have no issues narrowing the filter on the G90 to make it perfectly usable for CW. You can set the upper and lower edges just like any other radio. I've probably made around 1000 CW contacts on it with zero issues. Now, it's nowhere near as good as one of my high end radios, but it's absolutely serviceable.
Apparently there's feedback between the internal amp for the speaker, and the reception circuit - so plugging in headphones stops the whine over +12 volume. And it sounds better. As someone who hasn't got a garden and has to make do with temp antennas - it's a fantastic price because if none of them work, I only have to sell it cheap, not worry about a £500 kit that someone might send back saying "This doesn't work!"

13:10 I love the bass sound of a "generator" starting up when you power the radio on! (car outside! lol)

I'll be honest, I don't remember. I got it in a pack with a bunch of different adapters. I just found the one that fit and ran with it.

Yeah, the KX3 is an absolutely superb radio! Thanks for watching
Saw a g90 at hro yesterday. Current radio is the trusdx, know what Im saving up for. I haven't had the best luck with the trusdx other then cw. 73s
Yeah, the (tr)uSDX isn't really great as a main radio. I mean, it works, but it's suboptimal. The G90 is really difficult to beat for the money.
Just order a g90. Found a great sale. @@EvanK2EJT
Did not say what Firmware you have on that G90? FYI I am 90% Phone operator Chris N3WER Tnx 73's
I'm on 78 from Jan of 2022. It's old firmware, but the radio works well, so I never messed with it.

Where do you buy this already built?
I got mine on Amazon from one of DL2MAN's approved vendors.
If you say that the trusdx wins at the end of the video, then I will assume you are trolling. The only thing the trusdx wins at is torturing my ears.
😂 The audio is bad...... But it's substantially better on the current beta firmware. That's not to say it's good, it's just less bad
An external speaker takes the (tr)uSDX to another level…IMHO
@@bearbpm that’s a given but even with the speaker, it’s still worse than a G90
@@bearbpm Yeah, it's night and day. The internal speaker is pretty bad, but it'll work in a pinch.
