I really enjoyed watching our CW QSO! I highly value the support of our local community. Thank you, Manuel, for the kind and motivating words!☺Considering the (tr)uSDX, I was really impressed of the SSB modulation. There was a very low noise level at my location, but you also sound great at other participants ends living inside cities.

Thank you, Manuel! I've been using the (tr)uSDX for a year, and it's such a great little piece of tech art, considering its hardware limitations. Unfortunately at some point the SMA connector broke away from the PCB, along with some traces, so I had to replace it by BNC flange connector, externally mounted to the body, it works fine. 73 R1BNG

Love your videos! I have one of your radios. I haven't worked with it much. I will in the near future. Thanks!

I don't understand the German (except for the counting) but I love this demo! So many variables tested, bravo! Once I have my licences I will be ordering a (tr)uSDX

Just got my official (tr)usdx this week as a birthday present to myself and have made cw, digital and Ssb contacts already . In fact, I even made a DX contact SSB on 20M with France from Seattle running just 5w and the built in Microphone on the sdx! Qrp guys efhw sloping from only about 15ft. Incredible little radio so far

I received my (tr)u-sdx a long time ago, but have not had a chance to play with it. My plan is to pair it with a smartphone running an FT-8 app and use it for digital mode POTA / SOTA activations. Thanks for all your work on this little radio!

DL2MAN wears the same outfit all the time.
Me too haha , my signature pants have everything I need in them and boom every morning ready to go .

Of course ! If I find something that I like, I buy a lot of it and don´t need to waste a thought about it anymore. However, the "set of same stuff" changes over the years, but within a certain time period I usually wear the same stuff :) 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

Great video Manuel 👍🏽 good to see the usdx to usdx. Looks like you need to update the firmware and the encoder knob 😉

Always good to hear from you. I've been following the UA-cam reviews of (tr)uSDR. Seems like txcvs that cost ten times as much work a little better. Thanks for making amateur radio accessible.

    Hello Manuel
Dave G4NOW in Greenwich London, thanking you for such a brilliant demonstration. It’s so good that you are making videos again. I missed them! Keep them coming - what a clever idea is your tr(u)-sdx. Would love to see a summary video to bring maybe latecomers to date with a hi-lights and updates timeline. It’s been a fascinating story of development all the way.
    All the best
    Dave

    Hello Manuel,
thank you for your new video and of course also for responding to the wishes regarding SSB contacts.
Of course, I know that the (tru)SDX was not designed for SSB operation and that the signal processing in SSB is done in a completely alternative way. I think it worked great for that. Congratulations on your successful deployment.
So far I only have three contacts in SSB with the (tru)SDX. The audio reports weren't particularly good. My QSO partners thought there was something wrong with my microphone. There was talk of “distortions” and “harsh” audio on my part. What I noticed, however, is that the sound is also extremely different on the reception side. In your video, for example, the IC-705 reproduced your audio extremely well and others, despite the good field strength, didn't reproduce it so well.
Thank you Manuel for sharing this emergency radio test with us. Good job. I'm continuing to learn CW... but I don't expect to get an accident-free CW QSO this year. I'm already working hard on myself and I'm probably not a natural at it. ;-)
All the best and stay healthy, 73.

In fact it was designed for SSB Operation (with lowered expectations regarding quality). I also think it works great ! Fair point with your comment on "reception side". Most of my feedback yesterday was "modulation good" or even "super", however, one OM said it was "dull" or "muffled", don´t know the correct translation (missing high pitch), so he concluded, that would be the problem of low readability, when S/N Ratio drops. From mic tests I could also see, that mic sensitivity and speaking distance need to match your current setup.
And last but not least: Don´t be afraid to make mistakes in CW. I´ve put my own listening and sending mistakes in my edits on purpose. Just to show: I´m also not a professional and we all make mistakes. A good CW Partner will understand, what you want to send and help you by leading you through QSO and repeat when needed. 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

Where did you find the amplified microphone speaker that plugged into the truSDX? Could you share manufacturer and model number please? Also did it work without modifying the connector? Thank you!

Hi Manuel, sehr cooles Video. Ich habe mir bei Retevis exakt das selbe Mike gekauft. Wird die nächsten Tage hier bei mir ankommen. Dort ist dann ein Stecker (Kennwood Norm) dran. Hast du an deinem Mike einen neuen Stecker, also 2x Klinke dreipolig 3,5mm angebaut?

    • @dl2man
      @dl2man  2 місяці тому +1

The SSB audio quality sounds intelligible...I'll order one of your radios, if it passes muster, I'll include it my emergency comms package.
Great idea to keep the radio as a true emergency shortwave transceiver, just in case other methods of communication fail, say because of an EMP blast

73 Manuel; DL2MAN
