    Hey, I've tried to increase the quality of my mic in the windows sound tab, but i can't because it only has 1 channel, 16 bit, 48000 hz, which sounds nearly identical to some cheap microphone, even though I'm using a Tracer Studio Pro Condenser Microphone. I saw some reviews of this mic, and the quality was great. I'm using a jack to usb converter, because the front jack plugs don't work. On the rear jack plugs however, the microphone's plug doesn't work, and my headset's plug has this constant annoying beep in its left ear. Do you know a fix to this by any chance? Thanks!

    • @infinitequality
      @infinitequality  2 роки тому +3

      Sounds like your cable is limited to mono, 16 bit, 48000hz, which is actually fine, but those cables are hit and miss bit time. Your mic also requires Phantom Power as it's a condenser mic.
      You need to get an interface that supplies phantom power. The mic won't work on a normal jack.
      The best thing you could invest your money into would be a Samson Q2U amzn.to/3EHhrNi (affiliate link)
      A dynamic mic is much better for talking, it has both USB and XLR so the interface is built in. It also has a headphone jack so you can monitor your audio. It sounds way too good for it's price. This mic solves so many problems with audio for gamers and creators that spending money on something else seems silly.
      The price of an interface with phantom power will almost match and could even be more than the Q2U itself.

    • @pancakej
      @pancakej 2 роки тому +1

      The microphone's description on the manufacturer's site says this:
      "With a professional recording studio microphone kit in your setup you’re ready to swing into action at any time, whether you’re doing voiceover, podcast, vlogging, dictation, gaming or streaming. This microphone set can be used for recordings at home or professional studio.
      • CONDENSER MICROPHONE- Internal chipset and PCBA of microphone is designed for simple use, which requires no additional phantom power to power up. Just insert the 3.5mm pin of the microphone into the audio jack of your desktop, then there you go, start to be a UA-camr or enjoy the game chat with your friend.
      • MIC STAND - MICROPHONE BOOM ARM AND CLAMP - Adjustable scissor microphone arm with high quality steel and heavy-duty springs. Your mic will always stay in place once you put your adjustable mic boom arm into the perfect position. With this boom microphone stand you can complete your recording or broadcast with no interruptions or frustrating retakes because your suspension mic arm will stay exactly where you want.
      • STUDIO BOOM MIC STAND TABLE MOUNTED - Enhances recording and broadcasting quality by stabilizing and isolating your microphone from bumps and rattles on the desk or table. The padded desk clamp on this broadcasting mic stand prevents damage to the desk surface and reduces vibration noise.
      • SCISSOR ARM with full swivel and height adjustable boom arm allows for perfect placement of your microphone arm stand."
      From my understanding, apparently this microphone was made in a way so it doesn't need Phantom Power, The reviews I've seen of the microphone were all saying that it's great, and it doesn't need an interface, just a working audio jack.
      Problem is, none of my audio jacks work, possibly indicating that my soundcard isn't working, or my motherboard's audio jacks are not working, but I can't be sure, I'm not that good with computers yet.
      Edit: The whole "bad quality microphone" issue might just be that i have a cheap and bad usb port, should probably switch that out for a better one.

    I use zwift and have two fans cranking. Should I have noise reduction on?

    • @infinitequality
      @infinitequality  Рік тому +2

      Noise reduction is a case by case thing.
      You can watch the voice sensitivity meter in the discord settings to see how loud the room noise/fans are. If it seems to be triggering your mic often then try it.
      It won't make your mic sound better though, if anything it could make it worse. Mostly it just tries to keep the mic from activating when you're not actually speaking.

      @@amale441 Something else must be different with your setup that isn't being accounted for. Auto Gain Control as a setting is in both the mobile app and the default desktop app. I have seen one person on reddit say that setting your mic to "default" in discord brought back the auto gain control toggle, but this doesn't make much sense. Could be something in your setup that is bugging discord's settings out.

      If my settings in this video didn't work, then likely your mic is bad. It's a pretty low priced item, so it could either be broken or just bad in general.

      Look for mic gain options in your windows sound settings. I would also need to know what kind of mic you are using, possibly you need to install the official driver's for certain headsets and change setting in the software.

    4:39 "Advanced Voice Activity" ???

    • @infinitequality
      @infinitequality  2 роки тому +1

      If you can't toggle it, it's because it's being bypassed by the manual voice input sensitivity setting at the top.
      If you turn on "automatically determine input sensitivity" you can now toggle it off.
      But you want to leave that off and manually set to 60 as I state in the video. So this option is nothing to worry about if you follow everything else I suggest.
