    She was such a loving mother to her son. She and Emmett didn't deserve this tragedy to happen to them. She handled this extremely well, with so much grace, class and dignity. I admire this woman's strength.

      I agree with you, because I have listened to two of Emmett's cousins give interviews and they both said that he did whistle at Carolyn Bryant. They said no one dared him to do it, and when he did, they were shocked and terrified!! They all jumped in the car and left as fast as they could. Emmett's mother knew how she had raised him, to be respectful to all, so it was unacceptable to her that Emmett would do something like that. Emmett's cousin, Simeon, said in his interview that Miss Mamie account of what happened, was not true, and it was coming from "a mother's love" which I can understand.

I did remember grandmother becoming so angry that she describes her as that awful depiction. I also remember grandmom being so ashamed of herself that she regretted getting that angry. However, 10 people were there that evening. And gave testimony that Emmett wolf whistled at Carolyn Bryant. Here are those 10.
    Ruthie Mae Crawford, Roosevelt Crawford, John Crawford, Robert Wright, Simeon Wright, Wheeler Parker, Albert Johnson, Jr., Pete Parker, Carolyn Bryant, Maurice Wright,

There are other interviews where she did talk about her son needing whistle. Then if he did say something to her like you look like a movie star and that witch got offended. Then maybe her getting offended got Emmett scared which would cause him stress and he could have been trying to apologize but had to whistle first. That Witch wasn't nothing to whistle at looking like an inbred. Either way it goes that Witch got Emmett Murdered.

      e money What do you mean? The story she’s telling is what she was told by the people who were there. The people who were there told 3 different versions. The first was they asked him what he purchased from the store and he tried to say bubble gum but got stuck and whistled, the second was there was a checker game outside the store and he got excited at a move and whistle because he couldn’t get his words out, and the final one was it was maybe some sort of bet. Ms. Mamie Till knows what’s she talking about and has no reason to lie nor do she owe an explanation when she’s speaking facts.
      You can’t claim to be on the scene of an incident and tell THREE different versions. The bottom line is nobody knows what happened at that store and since he stuttered and used whistling to alleviate his stutter, we’ll never know whether he whistled at her directly or not.

      Thats the not the story that was told by the guys that was there. She is saying that their was other kids out there and people was asking him questions..Well the guys was their said they was there like 10 mins and he happen so quick and that their was no girls and didnt anybody ask anything. The whistle he made was that of a flirty whistle said the people that was there. confirmed that. Now none of this excuse what happen to the kid but i can tell she was told to say that for the interview. She never mention before that he had whistle to alleviate his stutter. Again im not excusing what happn.. btw im a black guy so of course i dont like what happen but i just feel like i personally like to hear the guys that was there his cousins talk it seem more accurate

    • @Spreezy-zs3be
      @Spreezy-zs3be 6 років тому +4

      e money Well sir I’m not going to debate with you on this topic. There were other people there on the scene including those who were outside playing the checker game. As I said before the people who were there have changed their story so much that there at THREE different versions of events.Those versions are what I already said. What she is saying is what witnesses told her in the beginning including his COUSINS.
      As far as whistling it is a FACT that he stuttered and used whistling to alleviate, even one of his cousins confirmed that. So you think she just said he whistled for the interview? LOL. Do you know people who actually stutter!? Anybody who stutters have different tics to help them communicate better with people. In Emmett’s case, whistling was ONE of the ways to help him control his stutter because before he would grab people by their arm when he got frustrated. Whistling helped him to regain his composure, take a deep breathe, think about what he’s trying to say, and speak. Clearly you need to go back and watch this video again and also read her book.
      His cousin Wheeler just did an interview last year after it came out that the woman lied about her testimony and he said that Emmett was not whistling at her directly. So again if anyone is a witness to a incident, there is no excuse for there to be not one but THREE different versions of events. Now, you have a blessed day!

And she was back in Chicago and his cousins was there with him so i believed them. But who knows lol and also i have heard many many interviews that this two cousins did and they story NEVER changed at all.
