Most of the old abilities that got removed were either like 90% of the power budget or so uniquely situational that it took pros finding the abuse case for it to get removed. But yeah. They used to go a lot more all in on single ability power budgets way back when.
@bknighty28 the game is actually a lot less item based now than it used to be. At launch, items were the only way to reliably deal damage. So whichever team had better items won. You could actually carry your team just by countering enemy item choices in some cases. Champs were also a lot less dynamic. When your power budget was blown on one ability, the rest of the kit just became generic steroids with no outplay/counterplay potential. These days, everyone has some damage and most people have more dynamic skills (barring a few holdovers). It means that, while items play a role, you can still outplay someone who is ahead of you if you are truly better than them. An easy example is watching Zwag and other high ELO people who take some of the worst items for champs and carry games hard. They could not have done that at launch because taking a full tank teemo or katarina meant you couldn't carry anything since you would deal 0 damage.
@@aaronparry2636 Okay, you fluff your words all you want. The game is dying and everything you're trying to say is a positive has only been a negative to the size and impact the game has on e-sports. But that's pretending you're right.
Could it refresh an ult? I saw a video a while ago that talked about Zilean’s old abilities and mentioned this briefly but it’s really hard to find anything about it anymore so uh yea
You missed the best part about pantheons old passive, around season 5 pantheon could solo dragon at level 2 before 2 minutes because he could block dragon attacks with it and chain passive procs back-to-back
3 ageis stacks. W minion wait. Engage. Block auto. Auto enemy. Block auto auto enemy push W auto enemy. Auto enemy Block auto. Auto enemy. Block auto. Success.
The noise of Morde's 3rd Q combined with the damage made it the most satisfying ability in the game though. Really made you feel like you just threw an industrial cooking pot at someone's head at 500 mp/h
Yes, Panth's passive was awful because you legit couldn't do anything unless he engaged on you, but it was that Q that made him straight oppressive. Legit just Q spam until you backed or died, and he could permanently come you BECAUSE IT DIDN'T GENERATE MINION AGRO!
7:36 hey vars 1 minor correction on old pantheon unless it was a bug that wasn't fixed for a long time. He coule stack the passive while it was active so he coule block w to reset it and use the gap closers of w to aa 1 time to get a 3rd shield since he pre stacked it. Its even shown in the video
That was not a bug, it was actually in the tool tip. Used to be a pantheon main. He can stack up to 3 on passive, use W stun on a minion to get the aeigis passive but still have the 3 stacks in preparation to dive. First tower shot consumes the shield, auto or use ability and get the stored 3 stacks to 4 and get passive immediately back, block 2nd tower shot, use w again should be on cd after you used it on minion before crashing, get another passive shield to block 3rd shot. You can block 3 tower shots in a row. Also since tower shots have delays in between it gives you time to build up passive stacks so you could actually block 4 if you time abilities right
I will always miss old tahm kench. I can't for the life of me explain why but whenever I play mobas or similar, for some reason the idea of being the team taxi driver has always been my fantasy. I am currently one of the few ryze players that plays him for his ult (rest of the kit doesn't even interest me that much), but man Tahm was just way more cooler in that regard.
The game is increasingly less macro wise so every champions can be more accessible. Fuck, even items nowadays transform from active to passive because people sometimes forgot to use item.
I play/played all mobas. HoTS, Deadlock and Dota. Thing is I'm not a very competitive player and play for shit and giggles so dota2 fries my brain and convincing other casual players is even harder.
For me, I really like the grabbing abilities such as Blitz Q, the best one I've ever tried and the one I enjoyed the most was Franco from Mobile Legends. It was longer range Blitz Q and with good timing you could flash backwards to push the enemy even more distance. If I could have that flash trick on League I'd play Blitz much more
Don't forget mordes passive also effectively gave him ridiculous spell vamp because a large chunk of damage he dealt converted directly into a permanently active shield. You would try to fight him and he would be sitting behind literal thousands of extra health, which would be regening faster than you could hurt him, because his damage numbers were obsene. There were 2 answers to a fed morde back in the day. Either kite the hell out of him, and just hope none your teammates were stupid enough to get hit and therefore heal him for 1000, or you ignore him and pray you can push faster than he can.
u have to make weird old metas/builds and strategies video, like ad malzhar jungle, smite mid ezreal, full attack speed runes pantheon jungle, triforce mallet yasuo, tank fizz and ekko and so on
on the potential Zed shadows with Zil's Recall. You can only have two at most using both his W and ult. In practice mode, when I was target practicing his Q combo, I had the cooldown reset mod on. If you use Living Shadow again while a current W shadow is still up, the last one made will vanish and be replaced by the new one you throw out. I know it seems silly practicing your aim against minions or stationary dummy targets, but let me tell you, it really helps you get a feel for aiming two/three Q's at once. You start to get a little better and intersecting your Q's on the primary target, and that little bit goes a very long way. Use the practice tool people. It helps.
An extra bit about sion ult: the 100% lifesteal was ADDED, meaning of you already had a bloodthirster or other lifesteal sources, you could hit OVER 100% lifesteal and heal more than what you dealt
I remember fountain diving with the Old Sion as Jungle Sion - just attack speed, crit chance and lifesteal. Could sit in the enemy fountain with Hydra AOE healing so much back then paired with the Lifesteal it gave. Not to forget, I believe his E giving him an on-hit steroid at the cost of health - which didn't matter since you just built lifesteal and you made that health back tenfold.
If I remember correctly, they changed Sej's ult and whole kit because due to the status of her previous ult, which was on Super Ult territory, is that the rest of the kit was basically useless, so the only thing you would use Sejuani for is her Ult, and then the champ would be basically useless for 2-3 mins until she had ult again. They rebalanced and reworked the kit to remove power from her ult in exchange to give more power to the rest of her kit. Also, I remember how sometimes it would be impossible to kill Sion on line even if you managed to wither him out by poking him, since he would just pop ult on cd and heal himself to full again and again. His ult put Mundo's to shame.
Being able to see someone while they can't see you, without needing any special terrain or ward/item sounds like one of those things that could be near-gamebreaking in some scenarios, even more so in modern league. Imagine being able to stalk the enemy JG and countergank without them ever seeing you, encountering a fed enemy in the river and slipping away while they don't even know you were there, checking camps, neutral objectives and so on. I kinda hope they experiment with this concept in some capacity at some point. It's so simple yet has so much potential.
Morde Q was satisfying af but don't forget about his bait W. You get inside all of the enemy minions while fighting the enemy toplaner (maybe even 1v2) and they think - "what a dumbazz, he is not running away and on top of that he's also fighting us while the minions are hitting him" And then because your damage is supposed to be broken because you have no mobility in your kit and you have some shields, the fight gets long enough for you to bring them to 200 hp each AND THEN you get the 400 heal from your W and turn them into minced meat 1v2 + the minions From then on, you start snowballing and you can decide if you should hug toplane, push towers and force fights that the enemies can't win or if you want to go teamfight on botlane and get a broken dragon for more map control So you basically win in the first 5-15 minutes if your teammates do not mess up hard
R.I.P to my old Tahm Kench ult, used to be able to jump halfway across the map in 1 use, then they switched with w and you can't even eat enemy minions anymore, or champs as fast.
to best describe and show you Eagle Eye, stand in the middle of top lane, Teemo with eagle eye could see the enemy tower from there and the outer edge of baron pit.
As a fluctuating Silver/Gold/Plat adc player, if Yasuo ever has two wind walls active simultaneously, I'm just going to give up the roll altogether. Nothing else will matter. That will make or break it alone. Otherwise, 11:12 the sound effect made me laugh more than it should have. I was expecting the nostalgic metallic slap but that was somehow better.
I miss Old Mordekaiser as a whole. Ignite + Deathfire Touch + Corrupt Potion on top lane. First tower gold by lvl 6 consistently as you simply charged your Mace of Spades on a minion, used the third bonk on the enemy who probably got chunked while trading as you stayed rather health with your passive's shield, Siphon of Destruction and Harvesters of Sorrow, which the later you could use it on a minion and watch the health drops as they try burning pots and whatever to mitigate all the DoT you doing with Ult. That shit was hella fun to do with Pizza Feet Kaiser

Old Yorick R will be intensely OP if it still exists. Giving you or your teammate an extra 10 secs to fight is huge in ranked or pro-play
Edit: I was there when yorick came out.
Will you ever continue the the regions series ?
Even with the sions 100% life steal ability adcs would still cry and call their class "weak"
Maybe it's nostalgia, but I miss old league, yes everything was busted but it had a fun goofy bustedness to it. I miss the goofiness
i played old tahm kench so much, he was the most fun support ever but not anymore :(

Zilean could also reduce the cd of his own Ult back then

I loved Old Sion. It was soo stupid that it was genius.
I still hope the old league comes back or someone will make 1. There are many stuff what i miss about old league. Who knows, some day Riot will get bankrupped and someone can make then old league back.
Imagine Hob with this mordekaiser.
God I loved old Sion
