- The Hobie Fishing Tournament of Champions in Knoxville is the BIGGEST tournament of the year for kayak anglers. 50 of the best in our sport battled it out in Knoxville on Tellico Louden the French Broad and the Holstein. I decided to try my hand on the river, fishing for big smallmouth bass. Heres how it went!

Absolutely! I’d have went swimming if I’d tried that. Not to mention probably breaking a leg or arm 😂

Dang. Half the time I get in my kayak, it looks like an accident.
Sticking the landing on the launch got a 10 from every judge except the Russian judge. He gave it a 9.8. Great job. Loved the enthusiasm but who wouldn't be enthused catching mules like that in a major tournament. Loved it.
Why anyone would give this beautiful lady fishing off her kayak would give a thumbs down, idk.
Nothing beats a Hobie, I’ve owned several kayaks and hands down Hobie has unmatched cutting edge innovation. May cost a little more but you get what you pay for.

Wow. Great day. I was almost as fired up as you were. I love catching smallies. Beautiful river fish right there. Match’s many I’ve been fortunate to catch in Lake Michigan/Green Bay waters. Awesome day. Hope it continued. I’ll be waiting to see.

Do you use a keel guard? My yak has taken a hell of a beating over the 4 years, decided to add gator guards to keel and lower portions to help protect from dragging it at ramps.

Had one bounce off a branch right into my folbot one day then flipflop back into the water he went about a 15 incher.
What size Helix do you have and would you suggest that size or bigger/smaller? I am looking to get one for SI on my Old Town this winter.

I’ve been religious all my life, but praying for help with cancer and having those prayers answered gave prayer a whole new meaning.
