  • I have bad news... I share with you what I found out today from multiple employees who work in the park. Things don't look good for Top Thrill 2 opening anytime soon.
--- Now while some of you aren't happy that I don't share more information, the #1 thing for me is to not get anyone of the employees who share info with me into any kind of trouble. While I wish I can share more - I can't at the moment. I was just told that they were staffing for Top Thrill 2 to reopen this week - but then they got the word that there is another issue and they won't be staffing Top Thrill 2 for a while.

Zamperla has a small resume and not a great one at that. I’m super curious as to what CP put in their RFQ. At the end of the day how do you test for this long and have this big of a delay? You would think that they started construction late or had a pressing timeline... but the thing was nearly done for quite some time.

Cedar Point needs to be more transparent and let the public know what the situation is. Until then there is going to be a lot of speculation about what is happening whether it is true or not. As of right now people are going to be frustrated. Cedar Point is not the easiest destination to reach and it takes months of planning, time off from work, costs associated with traveling and waiting to see if the weather will be good and it won't be a rainy day. A good Cedar Point trip is about $1k if done properly. I do fast lane as I am not waiting in line for something I can only do once every few years.

I had tons of hope for this coaster, but Zamperla might have not been the right play. They were already impressed by Velocicoaster, and should’ve given them another chance with the new management. I think if anything Intamin should have played a factor in the reimagining (even if they didn’t do the majority of the work), as they knew it and its problems best.

Something is majorly wrong if it broke down this quickly. Just saying. This reminds me of when Son of Beast opened at Kings Island. I was lucky to ride that when it opened (with the loop), but it was opened and closed repeatedly right from the start -- including on the day my wife and I were there. A project this big should not have failed so quickly. And yes, I get it that rides have issues when they first open, but this was too risky to go with a company that didn't have the resume for such a ride.

Now everyone is moaning that it's closed indefinitely, the cries for it to reopen. Wow.....GET RID OF IT! Even Dragster doesn't like its new iteration. I think testing a ride and actually having it operating with tonssss of guests are 2 totally different things, they should’ve done a soft opening to limited guests just to see how the ride holds up continuously running all day, but they wanted to rush and open in time for this summer when maybe they should’ve been patient and add more additions to the park to entice the gp to come when it does eventually open. These parks are money hungry and will do anything to try to attract guests, even if that means sub-par experiences (Tiana’s bayou being a prime example) universal is one of the few major theme parks that will take their time to develop everything to ensure guests are immersed and enjoying the experience. Well see what happens if and when the park re opens the ride 🤷🏾‍♀️

Nothing that has gone on so far has sounded like an epic failure, so I'm not sure where all the drama and allusion to a multitide of problems is coming from. Furthermore, whatever the workers said is only hearsay without a statement from Cedar Point.

Mmmm, I personally think it's a stretch on this one. Everyone can say "I have sources at the park" including me...I was a manager there. Something I know is that because its THIS ride in-particular, CP is being very heavy on the NDA's that maintenance and ride manufactures sign. Really, anything any of us get is pure speculation out of employees. Yes, actual leaks do slip through the cracks sometimes...but, I'm sticking to what Tony Clark said on a radio podcast last week about this "not being a summer long issue". Could other things need tweaking? That's certainly possible...but the wheel bogies were the main issue from stress, that's a fact now. But, testing at night and them working on it a lot through the day indicates to me that the heat is on Zamperla to get it open and you know it will happen sooner than later. Yes, "safety first" of course...but it's obvious the heat is on to get it going and so I think they will soon unless it is a catastrophic failure of a part.

I have heard the new intiman's are running much better then old ones. I think zamperla should not have re imagined it at all. i think somebody else should have done it. I also think or wonder if would have been better just to scrap it all together and build the 350 foot tall giga for example i know they have a giga but they could do something that is much bigger with b and m like build the worlds biggest gigg giga or something like that.
That would have been better direction to go. zamperla is maybe not the most relyable.
I am nervous even about new zamperla coasters they need to be better but maybe at least it is them through and through they might be better off to go ground up and we don't know who will be doing the wonderland coaster which is whole different topic in itself but if it is zamperla it had better be running when I go there if it is a zamperla. i am really in fact hopping it is new intiman that does wonderlands launch coaster I still prefer that intiman builds that is how i personally feel.

Brandon isnt being negative about this. Its his opinion rather he heard it from employees or Tony himself. I know there are alot of roller coaster manufacturers in the world. Although Zamperla probably wasnt the best choice but at least they are giving them a shot to maybe prove they have what it takes. They didnt waste millions of dollars on this ride it was just an add on to a current layout. Rather this becomes a hit or a dud Cedar Point can still move on to future rides. Now is this hurting Cedar Points reputation yes. I understand everyone is mad about it but i would rather the ride be safe and corrected and running right before someone dies on the ride. Then everyone would be bashing them for not fixing it the right way. I dont know Brandon personally but I agree and disagree with some of his videos. Everything he hears is just a rumor till its confirmed fully. So Brandon keep up the videos and just remember eveything is your opinion and your titled to it. You shouldnt have to comment back and explain yourself to anyone. Everyone has their free speech and so dont you. Keep on Roller Coasting.

CP got everything wrong. Breaking up with Intamin was childish. They just have to manage the relationship. The hydraulic launch was fine. They could have just refurbished the trains. If they wanted to add a spike; build a record. If they have to use a different company, picking essentially a noob who promises revolutionary trains is ridiculous. I think CP needs a new GM or whoever was behind these decisions. We all hope that they work out the problems and it runs smoothly and safely eventually. That will be fine for us enthusiasts. Cedar Point has been in the business for a long time. They’ve had some hits and some misses. Getting TT2 up and running is a big deal for Cedar Point, but it’s make or break for Zamperla. I suspect the loss of revenue pales in comparison to the prospect of another serious injury or other safety issue. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Because just walking the park and seeing that brand new spike rising through Iron Dragon is enough to quicken pulses, and the reviews have been incredibly positive. They want to get it right. I think in this case, “an abundance of caution” is a good sign rather than o foreshadowing of things to come.
