i wish island living had a secret mermaid world that you could only discover by swimming really far out into the ocean or something, idk i wish it was more. feels like a game pack and not an expansion tbh
it tried to be what island paradise was but is sooo lackluster and boring. all it did was add a half baked occult and some nice items for a specific build style.
I feel like EA designed Mua Pel'am (the part with the volcano and waterfall) and were like "ok great, this is perfect, we'll even get people to clean this trash up and make it even more beautiful. Oh shit, we put a secret cave, a waterfall, a house built like a ship wreck, AND a volcano all in one neighborhood? We've still got two more neighborhoods to go? And now we're out of ideas for the rest of the islands? And it's too late to move this stuff around? Wonderful". That one neighborhood got all the love and honestly, I don't give a crap about the other two. If I'm ever in that one near the bottom of the map and see everyone gathering at that communal area for a little party, that's fun but I'm honestly just there for the free food and maybe a baby daddy. The other neighborhood, I don't know her. It's got a lesbian couple living there and that's all I know or care about.
Same!! Actually, I bought every single pack at 20%, 25% or 50% off! (Depending on the pack) but I bought 2 GPS at 50% off Humble rewards and am glad I got so lucky bc I play on Origin and there aren’t very many huge sales! I also got Get to Work for only $16 without a tax! (full price being $59 including tax) so MASSIVE discount! Over 70% lol so yeah that was definitely nice
Yeah, pretty much. I've regretted every pack I've bought at full price. Even if I really want it, I'll wait until it goes on sale, none of them are worth their "suggested retail price."
Island Living was my first expansion pack and... yeah it feels incomplete. Like they had an idea for it that they just couldn't finish for whatever reason.
It’s especially disappointed from people coming from the sims 3 island paradise which was such a big pack and such a fun fact. Becoming a mermaid, diving, owning island resorts, etc. Island living could have been all that and more but it just fell flat.
@Rose :3 i thought the same thing with owning multiple houses. rich sims are so boring because there’s nothing to spend your money on and sulani would’ve been such a fun place to have another house
City Living is the first pack I ever bought, along with Get Together. I never regretted it. After buying Seasons I realized how much fun that was too, but the apartments of City Living are still the basis of most of my gameplay.
Oh, these were my first packs too! Get Together is one of my favourites ever, I always use clubs! And I did enjoy playing with CL for some time, love how the limitations force you to be creative when dealing with odd-shaped and/or small apartments, but thinking from a broader perspective, I feel like it falls short becaaause it's supposed to offer expansion pack-sized content and I don't feel it does that. If we were able to customize and build apartments anywhere, THAT would've made this one of the best packs around, I mean, the first thing I remember when anybody speaks about it is apartments. Not the new careers, not the singing skill, not the new arts center lot type. I really hope that, with EA's recent position about refreshing older packs, apartment customization gets added, but that's very unlikely to happen, sadly~
that's crazy cause i felt the exact opposite, city living was my first pack and i regretted it bc it barely changed my gameplay at all and apartments made me feel boxed in. then i got seasons which made the game 10x more fun bc i could actually tell that time was passing and things happened in the world so it was much less like a dollhouse
My first two packs were Cats and Dogs and Seasons, together (and both on sale) and right after that, City Living (also on sale. I always wait for sales.) Don't regret it. :)
To be fair though, Wikipedia does so much for us. No ads, no popups, no paywall, everything is sourced. If a celebrity dies or changes their gender/pronouns, Wikipedia is on it instantly. They're the real unsung hero of our generation.
@@maroonggirl "They" are a bajillion volunteers, which is how they update everything so fast. Each individual subject or page has different people dedicated to it. @@syncopatedglory That's not really what I meant. 😅 I meant that their post was phrased as if Wikipedia was a single organization with staff that stayed on top of updating. There is an organization behind it, but most of the updating is done by volunteers acting individually with minimal direction between them.
My least proud moment was when I was having a mental crisis and literally bought 6 expansion packs and a few game packs when they weren’t on sale and was morbidly disappointed with half of them
@@Jennieistyping eco lifestyle, pets, island living, seasons, get famous, city living. The only ones I ended up genuinely liking out of those were seasons, pets, and city living.
I like using Discover University to have degrees and skip the first part of the interactive careers of Get to Work. I've been loving that combo lately, 'cause I'm trying to get all achievements in TS4
@@derangedone13 CC is the only thing that saves the sims 4 for me!! LMAO even tho I have every pack, if I didn't use CC i'd prob only play for 5 mins 🤣 .... all shade all tea EA!
@@derangedone13 seriously, as a witch/ magic enthusiast I was so, SO disappointed by RoM and stopped playing it altogether although I had so many plans for stories etc. Now I discovered Zero's occult mods which add different kinds of magic and magical cultures, deadly untamed spells and duels, playable sages, etc and I'm in the process of setting up different covens and stuff to FIGHT over power in the magical world and its 👌👌👌
I feel like Get Together is a sleeper for everyone! I never really think about how much of my sims management relies on it. That said, I feel like grouping and meeting people of similar age immediately should be possible without Get Together content like clubs. Sims 4 is always a cobbling experience...
I make my sim a “friendship group” where I add all her closest friends too so it’s easier to meet up with all of her friends at once and it doesn’t feel like when you mix different friendship groups irl and then everyone’s really awkward because everyone already knows eachother in the club
Yes, this 100%. It's just frustrating sometimes that group that you invite out would just suddenly leave without doing anything or interacting with one another. Though, I don't mind them just meeting people around their age at school or work, it's just tedious to get sims interacting with the group all the time so they don't just leave the lot.
In terms of expansion packs, seasons and city living is all you really need imo if you're buying on a budget. Seasons is almost essential and city living is literally packed with content- surprisingly It may just be because it was the first pack I bought but city living kept me busy for so long lmao
Interestingly... those are the two I had no plans of buying. But I am very much in the minority on that and know it, and honestly since the free demo play of City Living I've realized there's some odd bits I'd actually really like... still can't bring myself to spend money on it yet though.
@@galaxxys4692 What if I’m not ready for a holiday in a particular storyline when it pops up, and then all my Sims are upset because it didn’t go well? What if I have a single Sim who I want to hate Love Day, or a timid Sim to hate Halloween, or a grump to hate Winterfest? Why does not participating in a holiday always have to make them sad? And whether or not crops are in season might be more fun now with Cottage Living it’s just so easy to get around with building a greenhouse quick... and I can play in the snow with Snowy Escape.
Me and a friend literally bought university the day it launched and then had a sims 4 university party, which consisted of us sitting on her bed eating snacks and playing the sims in silence. Best day of my life aha
That's super cute! But it also makes me kinda sad that the younger generation never got to experience the joy of playing Sims 1 and 2 with a friend! (I don't know how old you are, just mean this as a general statement!)
When you play with friend it doesn’t really matter what is the ‘better’ game. Sims 4 perfectly fine to play with friend and have good time laughing at the sims.
i think a cool edition to the sims would be like a “chaos mode” of sorts where basically random events are more likely to occur so it’ll satisfy both the people that like fast-paced gameplay vs those that like a more laid back style
That reminds me of sims 3 for the ps3, if im not mistaken, it had natural disasters? Meteors and maybe tornados? I think im mistaken for other game haha
I hear her say that, then recall she’s a young millennial and am like 🤯 her parents let her play that when she was a wee one! I was in college when Sims1 came out lol so my view might be skewed
@@francinesmith1889 I was in my the middle of high school, had just moved halfway across the country with my parents and siblings, and had been playing Sims games (SimCity, SimAnt, SimCopter, Sim . . . well, several more) for at least five years, probably more, and was super excited when I was going to get the chance to play as the little people in my SimCity games. I asked my dad to get it for me and have been playing the Sims (with the occasional SimCity) since then.
Here’s a little pack story I have, When I was younger I moved my ea account to other ea account. And when I did that I had to tell them which packs I had so they could move them over. So I did... thinking nothing of it. When I logged into my new account I found that all my packs had been moved over and I had also somehow acquired toddler stuff pack.. so shout out to them for accidentally giving me an extra pack for free
That reminds me of one time I bought a bundle, I can’t remember what packs were in it, and somehow got toddler stuff for free 😂 got the 3 packs I paid for plus toddler stuff
Same! It happens pretty often so I feel like it’s silly to buy them full price although I am considering paying the $40 for Cottage Living before Sept 2nd so I can get the extra stuff
@@funland19 I mean, if you’re already considering paying full price anyway I can see allowing the extra stuff to tip you into buy now? Or if you don’t have Discover University, then the bike is a bigger thing to get. But otherwise they’re not really worth it. The fairy tree is pretty but how often will I ever use it? I say this, of course, as someone who couldn’t resist and did in fact buy it already so I can hardly judge anyone else who does the same. I now have simple living on for every single one of my saves.
I've come to regret having Get Famous, ever since I started a legacy and my founder (an international superstar) got all Judith Ward and couldn't be arsed to acknowledge her daughter-in-law or grandkids. Fame is disabled now and I don't miss it.
It’s one of my favorite packs for the costumes and build mode items (mostly debug items). I also love the actor career. That being said, the relationships are terribly annoying. As you said, just because someone is famous doesn’t mean they would ignore their family. It’s so frustrating.
I feel like this is a wider sims issue of families just not knowing each other if they dont live in the same lot, i know it’s possible to not know your family but i wish the game would give all family members like an acquaintance level relationship with every new baby born
I have a completely separate save for my famous sims. I actually love get famous when it doesn’t interfere with normal gameplay and I love being this really rich sim with really rich friends and I’ve redone most of the save to have really exclusive places for my famous sims to go to that isn’t only in del sol valley. No way I’d be able to play it all the time but it’s really fun like once a month lol
Yes, the fame system is so flawed. It also really annoys me how the most minor celebrities still act like they’re Judith freakin Ward and talking to a stranger at a house party is SO beneath them. 😂
i really like city living because while the apartments are big it's a more compact living space and you can be more creative with it (wish all the apartments had balconys tho) and i like that it feels semi open! because there's always something going on outside your house edit: i also struggle with controlling more than one sim and i still wish we had the option to have families but select who we control!!
Switching from console to pc and having access to cc really changed my priorities for what packs I want. I have significantly less packs and and I would never buy a pack simply for cas/build and buy content now.
The essential packs for me would be City Living (good amount of gameplay, cool world), Get Together (love the world and the CAS), Seasons (just for the aesthetic really lol), and Parenthood (I'm a family gameplayer). Cottage Living is definitely up there though and Dream Home Decorator for the build/buy. I think I mostly buy packs if they have a good new world and can add gameplay that I can use over and over again without getting bored
Spa Day is definitely underrated. This pack has more content than a lot of other packs, BB/CAS is nice, new venues are awesome, and also new functional objects as yoga mats or saunas. What is interesting, this pack has full kitchen set with cabinets.
I'm an occult simmer too. I rarely play with normal human Sims. If there's a pack that adds to that, I'll probably buy it. Vampires Paranormal Jungle Adventure StrangerVille Spooky Stuff and I'd have to put Realm of Magic last. As much as I love Spellcasters, the spells and potions were lackluster. They're essentially cheats you need ingredients or magic for. TS3:S had elixirs that could transform sims into different occults. TS2 has spells that could change the weather and stop time. They could've done something different with TS4, but it doesn't feel like the team put much thought into the main feature of the pack.
I never even found it buggy. The water simulation just caused absolutely massive lag. I truly miss houseboats. They were everything I wanted in Tiny Living.
There is something so satisfying about the way you say “Yes”. When talking about the stuff packs (15:20ish). It was warm and comforting! Thank you for your honest opinions qween
So last night I opened a bunch of stuff my parents had sent me and they sent me the CDs for both The Sims (og!!) AND The Sims Makin Magic and I just feel like this is the place to share my excitement!!!! Can’t wait to install those and try playing them again
Somehow I find Island Living both disappointing and essential at the same time lol. I love the world so much simply because it's pretty, the odd jobs are a lot of fun if you want a more active career, the build items are nice, the CAS items are nice. Mermaids are totally disappointing though, I wish they were more like vampires with leveling your powers and picking traits and stuff(I mean... The pack is twice as expensive but the occult might as well just be a funky hat because that's about how in depth it is which just feels like a ripoff lol). I don't think it's worth the full price but to be fair I have yet to find an expansion pack that I would buy outside of a sale (because they're just really freaking expensive imo). Unrelated: I think it's dumb that there are exactly 0 basegame facial piercings and you can not change my mind. Literally give me the most basic stuff and I'm good but it's really hard to find cc piercings (or maybe I just have not had any luck) that actually sit in the right places (especially nose piercings on wide-nosed sims) and I am *not* going to buy discover university just for the piercings.
This is what I love about the sims, game-play is so different for each individual. I like family play but am not a fan of occult sims. I do own all the packs bar Batuu which I am looking to pick up in a sale some time in the future, just for the build buy elements. There are packs which I thought I would hate but have one or two interesting items, or like vampires (which I hate) I adore the build buy and use it in mostly every house I build. A surprise for me is jungle adventure which is my go to holiday destination and I love mixing the BB with mission style and building in Oasis springs. Cats and dogs I would have bought, and been a bit let down by, I do think we should have controllable pets or pets what do not take up a family spot if uncontrollable. I was sold on the bust the dust, as I love laundry day but this is one of the worst gameplay additions imo. To this day after trying it out I have yet to get out the vacuum. I love all hand craft packs, as I knit and crochet in rl. Spa day funnily enough I enjoy. Most hated is broken dine out... because it is so broken, I love get together, strangerville I love for the BB - the funny walks cracks me up but I only played the story once. Henford is my Jam. Thanks for sharing and If you read this far, well done. Cheerio Plummy.
@Rose :3 I have thought about using the controlable pet mod, but I am having a phase where I am trying to keep the cc to a minimum. It'll be in the next "CC mega phase" I have. Probably in line with the new CC from Felix and Harrie.
I completely agree with your opinion on the vampire game pack and I really wish all of the occult would get the same level of gameplay as the vampires in this game
I am regretting and enjoying the Bust the Dust Kit so much - I just love the idea and added reality, but it is buggy as hell and why won't the maid or butler vacuum? :(
Also no off the grid option to get rid of dust? They already have a mop animation, they only need to repurpose that with a broom. I like the pack, i think it adds a little extra chaos into my sims lives, but i wish they’d thought it out more
i refuse to buy anything EA produces for the sims these days, it’s the pirate’s life for me. the only ones i’d be willing to spend some money on (on a sale, because none of them are worth full price) are seasons, city living, pets, vampires and cottage living
I've recently gotten a mac and had to download their 64bit version for Sims 3&4....the way my pirated version never lagged, crashed and stopped working but the official one does every 10 minutes 😭 Also agree, I've refused to buy anything Sims 4 content wise bc of the way it's terribly done
@@WinxClubTeamAvatar does your Mac have an M1 chip? There’s a certain setting that just doesn’t work on M1 chip macs, so causes it to freeze minutes after opening the game. If the pirated version works well I wouldn’t worry about it, but if you want EAs version to work you need to enable vsync in the settings :)
Same! Only company I'll happy pirate. When the modders fix more bugs than the actual developers, I figure it's not worth my money. And it's audacious that expansion packs cost as much as the base game! They made this all about the money and not the game play
@@bump0005 I have no idea, I'll look into it thanks! Also have haven't played the pirated version for my new laptop bc of the whole 64bit thing and I can't find any 64bit pirated Sims 3/4 atm 😭
city living, seasons and cats and dogs are my favourite packs! i love the build and buy items from cats and dogs (and seasons), and i think that the festivals/conventions were a great add-on to the game.
I enjoy the mundane stuff and the crazy stuff like i want my vampire sim to go bite 3 random people and then come home and vacuum her house and do her laundry
What I always say about Island Living is that it either needed to be a lot more or a lot less. Aka, it should have included hotels/resorts, or it needed to be a game pack that was more of a vacation world. (To even out the price).
About Cats and Dogs: God I hate that purchase, honestly seeing my 2 dogs stand absolutely still the entire night right next to the dog bed in a huge house, collapse twice total over that night and still not use the dog bed it brings me out of the immersion so hard that it absolutely makes me never want to play with pets again and I loved them in ts3
I think the HUGE difference is in the sims 3 you could control pets. Which helps with immersion because you can make them do pet stuff- like hunting, learning tricks, and using pet furniture. Plus the autonomy in the sims 3 was just overall better.
Yeah, just The Sims 4 really sucks with immersion sometimes. Those issues just keep piling up and the team refuse to fix any of it, seems. And of course, ts3's little critters you could find, I'd run around collection as many as I could, but it's just all so bland in ts4.
@@victoriasenn3818 You have more patience than me. If it didn't have horses, I'd play with it, but since horses are literally the thing that crash the game thanks to them getting stuck literally EVERYWHERE, I've never been able to play with pets. Had to uninstall only a week after buying when Sims 3 was the current game, and have never touched it since. Wish I could delete horses from existence, because the cats and dogs themselves are actually alright for the game. Same for birds, snakes, ect. Just... horses are so stupid on the game
I do wish with DU there was an option to shorten the amount of credits to graduate. I find as my game play style changes 12 credits is too long. I can't figure out how to do it with rotational game play.
There is a mod for this. It even has different versions with different credit scores, i have the one with only 6 credits and its so much more fun this way. I think you can find it on mod the sims just google a little
DU just doesn't work well with rotational gameplay in general. I play long lifespans and enjoy having them spend more time in Uni. But I also have a short attention span, so I rotate constantly and I get tired of coming back from another household to find out the college students are all flunking. It needs so much babysitting. Even active careers just stay static when you're not there.
i really love that you made this video bc i think a lot of people in the sims community (especially those with large followings and influence) forget that not everyone has the ability to buy every pack and it can be a bit isolating in a way that i don’t know how to explain. it’s nice to hear your honest opinions about these things. tbh, whenever there’s a new pack that i’m interested in or absolutely hate, i always go to you to hear your thoughts on it because you never gloss over anything. it’s nice to have a game changer who isn’t afraid say what they really think. (and this isn’t to hate on other game changers, i just feel like a lot of them tend to hold back and only talk about the positive aspects of the game which is really frustrating as someone who can’t afford to spend money on a mediocre pack)
I have had outdoor retreat almost since it came out and always tell myself I will go to the destination world and I still haven't. I heard it was fun until seasons because the plants are never harvestable due to the time you're there. You'd have to travel to the vacation world many times and I can't be bothered with a vacation every season. With that said I still use the build/buy and some cas items. I do hope eventually I get around to doing the vacation destination even though it will be very time consuming bc the herbology seems super cool
If you play on pc there's a mod by Zerbu to make all the vacation worlds residential so you can just travel there to harvest them. You can still vacation there if you wanted to because it keeps the lots as rentals. I find myself using the vacation worlds more because I have an out of sight out of mind issue when it comes to them.
as someone who went a very bright orange, putting yellow dye over the orange will lighten it a lot and then let it fade over the course of like 4-5 washes. you can use a purple shampoo as well! my orange side is mostly yellow/blonde now, and just certain strands have that orange pigment left.
I consider The Sims 4 to be a remake rather than an actual Sims game, like when a book series starts being made again but it isn't by the original writer
I absolutely adore Island Living: I love making sims from different cultures and of different ethnicities and Island Living has some great stuff for that. I also love having sims honeymoon/get married in Sulani and I love the CAS. First pack I bought, 0 regrets.
I own most of the packs, but honestly, I'm too cheap to pay full price for them, so I usually wait a while to get them on sale. I think the only pack I paid full price for was Nifty Knitting, because I'm a knitter IRL, and I was really excited about that. XD
I play on console so I usually just wait for a sale. That's the main reason I have got most of the packs, I still haven't gotten the star wars pack. I've got a better computer but won't make the switch because it's too expensive lol
The windows are! Taking a photo in game takes forever and my game started lagging so bad - I really wanted to play through the photographer career but it lags so astronomically on my computer that I couldn't.
This is the content I needed today! Debating between Island Living and making my own Love Island, Cottage Living and doing all the cozy things, or Snowy Escape for the Japanese builds and hot springs.
@H. J. P Thanks! I stream, so I had different reasons for thinking about each. I wanted to make a Sims Love Island and do episodes with Island Living. Snowy Escape is more my gameplay style I think, I really liked Outdoor Retreat. Cottage Living is the current hotness and while I think it might bring views and I love the look, I don't know that befriending a llama is my type of gameplay? I usually like people stuff more than animal stuff.
@H. J. P I don't know that I'm in a position to give advice, but I will go subscribe to your channel! Good luck, and if you're ever on Twitch you'll find me under skeggjold_pantaloon
Omg the surprise guest got me for sure i was like mouth hanging open, huge crush on him as a kid. I was OBSESSED with Hocus Pocus and anything Halloween and fall related. It's simply the best time of year
I got university, because I liked it in Sims2, its one of my biggest peeves, like if I want any of my sims to have a degree it takes SO long and its touch and go with their marks, like they have to devote so much time to it that if they have any other aspirations it just falls to the side. I've even created my sim, got her a degree and saved her as a premade sim so that if I ever start again I've already got it out of the way. The list is way too long for me to go through it, but the one I'd run to buy: Magic Realm (just for aesthetics alone YES), Vampires, I'd also go for spooky stuff and paranormal. I love occult stuff but I wish they did more with the rom story wise. I wish they had werewolves, like I just want a spooky supernatural town to myself :D I also wish we could make out own map, I'm sick of starting new play throughs in Newcrest :P
So, I've recently been buying a bunch of expansion packs, Seasons was the first one I got, I really like Cats and Dogs personally because the pets are so cute and the world is beautiful, I got Eco Lifestyle thinking I would LOVE it but was actually a little disappointed.. The gameplay is a little janky to me. Obviously just as everyone else Cottage Living is my most favorite EP so far. In terms of Stuff Packs and Game packs I'm hesitant to get any of them because I feel like it's not as much value.. However I did just get Laundry day because I just like the idea of making a laundry room in my builds and it adding some more realistic gameplay elements. The EP i'm least likely to ever buy is probably Get Famous, and City Living doesn't really appeal to me much either. In terms of GP's I have my eye on Realm of Magic purely because I love anything witchy.
It’s always nice hearing your opinions on The Sims. I have The Sims 4 on PS4 but honestly, I have not touched it in ages. I wonder if I should just buy some more packs that interest me to spice things up (Parenthood, Seasons, City Living, etc.), if I should play the game on PC instead of PS4, OR if I should just wait to play The Sims 5 (whenever that comes).
Jesse: island living The subtitles: Ireland living Picturing a game pack with an Irish world (Reminder to content creators that subtitles being checked over is very useful please do it!)
The CC is autogenerated. It's nice when content creators add customized CC, especially since the autogenerated doesn't know what to do with any accent that isn't mid North American.
There are some packs that I don't use the gameplay of much but would be absolutely lost without the build items, I love the aesthetics of jungle adventure, island living, snowy escape etc. For gameplay I think city living, get together, and there's a surprising amount of ways you can incorporate get to work in your gameplay too
I don't have all of the packs, only some I were interested in, and now it'd change a bit. But still, for me the ones I am happy with (in no particular order) and would buy again are: Vampires, Parenthood, StrangerVille, Realm of magic, Tiny Living, Get to work, City living, Seasons. If I were on a budget, I'd get Seasons, Parenthood + RoM or V What I don't have and would like to buy is probably Paranormal and Cottage Living (and maybe Eco lifestyle) What I regret buying: Cats and Dogs, Outdoor retreat, Jungle Adventure, Spa Day, Island Living, Laundry Day, Get Famous, Discover University.
I watch so many sims youtubers and most of them don't like the occults while I play almost only with them. So happy to finally see someone who likes them haha
I wouldn't have predicted it but Get Together is probably the one expansion pack I couldn't be without. I couldn't live without clubs. The thing I found hardest in 2 and 3 was maintaining relationships with sims outside the played household. There's so many uses for that system too. Straightforward friendship clubs, shared interest clubs, using the filters to find sims with specific traits/wealth/marital status, clubs that can get sims doing your housework or gardening for free, getting kids/teens to do homework together... I just love it. It's an expansion pack that creeps into every save file and every household I play on rotation. I made a fitness club to help some of rounder sims (who had started off slim) get back in shape too.
I'm totally with you on the occults -- I was in love with Vampires from the moment I saw the trailer, and I have never regretted getting it. Paranormal and Realm of Magic are fun too, and hey -- I like Spooky Stuff as well! It is very situation, but it pairs super-well with Seasons. Carving pumpkins on Sim!Halloween is one of my favorite things to do. :) I don't know if I'd get Get to Work these days, though -- eh, maybe for the experience of owning a store, but I've found that I actually don't like active careers that much. They just get samey after a while! (There's an idea for you -- ranking the active careers in this game. Detective is the worst, in my humble opinion, as it's the most repetitive.)
Scientist career is lit tbh, feels a bit sims 1 makin magic with some of its absurdities. freeze rays and cloning are the two main reasons to try out that career. but still once you play through each career once you kind of forget about it, esp since the build buy is trash
@@thegeorgiemoore Yeah, I would definitely rate Scientist the highest just because of the inventions -- you get the best gameplay out of that one. But even then, the workday tasks can get pretty routine (do I have to make my coworkers change clothes EVERY DAY?).
detective is my fav and owning your own store i made a vampire family and they own their own occult store and it is so cool and i just never get bored of it
The island living pack should have had sirens along with mermaids. You could maybe create a siren and like vampires they need plasma and can hunt fish instead of fishing. Maybe they get tense after not eating fish or plasma after quite some time. I dunno just an idea
Eco lifestyle was one I hesitated to get and oh my God I love it. Idk why but I'm still hesitant to buy country living since it's so different from my play style but the aesthetic is drawing me in
I'm gonna be honest. The only thing I really enjoyed and liked from Island Living was the wolrd Sulani. That's it. It's not the worst pack but it is dissapointing. Sulani is absolutely beautiful tho
I always love hearing Jessie’s opinions on the sims packs bc I have similar tastes when it comes to gameplay and occult stuff. Every new pack I come straight to her reviews and gameplay videos to decide on buying them :3
i think the only packs that are actually worth it right off the bat are city living, seasons, and cats&dogs. all 3 give a variety of gameplay and decorating options as well as add features that are integral in my opinion (pets, apartments, seasons). all other packs can be interchanged depending on play style and preferences.
These are actually the three I have and I agree! Seasons was really really good and it adds so much! I haven’t explored city living completely yet, but I still got quite a bit of gameplay out of it.
You need to make a video showing every time you have ever said "i've been playing the sims since the year 2000!" XD im honestly interested in how many times you have said it,
out of all the packs the attention to detail and culture in snowy escape just completely won me over, the cas items and bab r so beautiful and the families backstories are interesting, they even went as far to make all the sims names mean something in japanese
Seasons and University are always my top two packs for any sims game. They’ve been consistently my favorite games in each iteration. Seasons is just required to my game play. It should honestly be included in base game. And I like university Bc it gives me goals and a more structured game play that I normally don’t have when I play.
I wish I could refund Discover University, one of the most useless and clickbait packs. I thankfully still haven't bought Island Living (will wait until they make it good). And other EPs are mostly ok, especially on 50+% sales, I would probably skip on City Living these days as other packs do much better job with apartments and festivals. And if not for the bundles and the sake of it, I would probably skip on Get Famous, if I actually wanted to cut on packs. GPs - Dine Out and Spa Day were a mistake on my part, but then again I needed something to make bundles. I could easily live without Realm of Magic and Strangeville as well. Again everything bought in bundles and sales, literally not a single pack in this game is worth the full price. SP - the only thing is that I had to bundle some of them to get a worth discount, but I don't think I would normally get half of them if not for the bundles. I still hadn't bought most of the worst ones, but some of the ones I unfortunately did include the Luxury Party and the ballpit one. But we will see maybe they will improve them. And oh, I also got the hottub one, unfortunately. At least haven't bought the drink stand, and My First Scam. And obviously I haven't got Kits - not until they majorly discount them, cause that's shiet not worth the money at all. Even if the items and gameplay is ok in them - but those should have been in update or part of other packs (like the cleaning and country kitchen kit, should have been in Cottage Living or be added to existing SPs to make them more worth to buy).
dude YES i wish i could refund discover university soooo badly. the CAS was amazing, and build/buy was pretty good, but GOD i never use bikes, and the dorms were just hell, it was so annoying. classes were ALRIGHT if you did off-campus housing but even then its always hard to tell how youre doing in any of your classes so every term id just be surprised when my sim got a C or F after what felt like they were doing good. it makes me so mad because it was SO CLOSE to being my absolute favorite pack, but just because of the execution it made me hate it
@@elicubed For me the clothes are great, robotics were cool. The selling point for me were actually bikes and open showers, but now we have them in Eco L. and Snowy E. which leaves Discover University an overpriced Robotics pack with awful 2000s American Frat Party simulator. Cause whole University part for me is non-existent and very US-centred. Pretty much no builds, awful rabbit holes, stuff like lack of ability to build a stove, bad University courses that aren't different from base game school gameplay, the nerve that I have to pay for education, which is against the idea of it being a human right. In general really dreadful pack, far from what University actually looks like.
I haven’t bought a pack in two years, the last one I got was parenthood (I’ve got seasons, city living, cats and dogs, parenthood and cool kitchen stuff) so yeah this video should be helpful to me lmao
I agree with most of your picks! I'm all about the fantasy elements and the realism. I think if I had to pick one of each type to start with it would be Seasons, Vampires, Laundry Day, and Bust the Dust.
I own every single pack (except for 3 of the kits and Batuu) because whenever I watch youtube I would be dissapointed I didn't have those features in the Sims 4. But, I got all of them on sale (aside from Cottage Living, but as a cottagecore lesbian i HAD to preorder it). Anyways, what I did was look into the pack in full detail and tally up points. Build item I wanted was 1 point, cas items were 1 point, and gameplay was 3 points. Devide by price and I got a score. Then whenever a sale came up I could spend some of the money I had saved up on the packs I wanted the most. (Can you tell I am a nerd? doing whole ass calculations to see if I wanted cats & dogs or city living?) Btw, the 3 kits I'm missing are the CAS fit kit or whatever it's called, the vaccuum one, and the oasis one. So I only have country kitchen
Island Living - Yes! My thoughts exactly. So it was my birthday coming up when IL was released so I was definitely getting it - purely for the Dolphins and being able to swim in the ocean. I still use some of the build mode items in my builds - but a bit like Strangerville - played through the story once and never really touched it again after that :/ But again I do use some of the CAS items from Strangerville, and build buy stuff as well. As far as story goes, nope. Although saying that, back to IL, I have built a few things on my save and flagged them as rental lots for holidays instead of having it a world where sims are already living there, they just go and rent a place to stay on their holidays. :) Spooky stuff, my taste for the occult started with Sabrina The Teenage Witch (The Original) and Charmed. Showing my age there. I was at a gathering the other night asking spirit to come forth. I'm waiting for Christy's Readings to drop some stuff as well because she contacts spirit :) I absolutely love it.
I'm really glad she made this video bc it's the closer to my personal opinions I've ever got with a simmer (obsessed with occults) I really enjoyed it, thanks for the grate work, stay hydrated =)
I’ve been an on/off sims player since shortly before the release of the sims 3. However i got rid of my console and computer and I didn’t end up getting sims 4 until about half a year ago when I got a console again. Right now I only have Tiny Living and Cottage living. I really appreciate videos like these so I can hopefully narrow down what my next pack should be! ❤️
Thats a fine smattering of cute freckles youre wearing today! :)) Packs I recommend to friends just starting out Seasons, City living, Eco Living, Snowy Escape, Country Living, Dream Home Decorator, Parenthood, Jungle Adventure, Strangerville, Laundry Day and Country Kitchen
i wish island living had a secret mermaid world that you could only discover by swimming really far out into the ocean or something, idk i wish it was more. feels like a game pack and not an expansion tbh
it tried to be what island paradise was but is sooo lackluster and boring. all it did was add a half baked occult and some nice items for a specific build style.
This made me think of fishman island from one piece, and thinking about it now it would've been a really cool addition to have a mermaid city/town.
It’s so surface level
I genuinely thought it was a GP not an EP ...... there's bugger all in there
I've bought almost all of my packs at discounts because I feel the 50% off discounts are closer to their justified price points ngl
I got most of my packs when I first started playing the last time there was a sale.
The only pack I’ve ever bought that was not 50% off was cottage living bc I was so excited
Yeah, pretty much. I've regretted every pack I've bought at full price. Even if I really want it, I'll wait until it goes on sale, none of them are worth their "suggested retail price."
I got The Sims 4 while it was on sale for £8 or something. It goes on sale several times a year on Steam.

you were spot on with island living. it’s such a fun idea for a pack but when i started playing through i immediately was disappointed
It’s especially disappointed from people coming from the sims 3 island paradise which was such a big pack and such a fun fact. Becoming a mermaid, diving, owning island resorts, etc. Island living could have been all that and more but it just fell flat.
island living should be game pack, i only use it as a holiday destination :/
I'm a weirdo who loves Island Living, but not the mermaids. I don't get the point of them.
@@fuzzypumpkin7743 they could’ve been so good if they just added a skill thing like vampires have
@Rose :3 i thought the same thing with owning multiple houses. rich sims are so boring because there’s nothing to spend your money on and sulani would’ve been such a fun place to have another house
Same
me too!! i loveee the apartments and the world in get together. I still don't know what get together is about but i love the world an items
that's crazy cause i felt the exact opposite, city living was my first pack and i regretted it bc it barely changed my gameplay at all and apartments made me feel boxed in. then i got seasons which made the game 10x more fun bc i could actually tell that time was passing and things happened in the world so it was much less like a dollhouse
My first two packs were Cats and Dogs and Seasons, together (and both on sale) and right after that, City Living (also on sale. I always wait for sales.) Don't regret it. :)

It may just be because it was the first pack I bought but city living kept me busy for so long lmao
City Living really is that bitch. Man, I literally couldn't play this game without it. San Myshuno is my go-to world for all of my Sims, really.

i think a cool edition to the sims would be like a “chaos mode” of sorts where basically random events are more likely to occur so it’ll satisfy both the people that like fast-paced gameplay vs those that like a more laid back style

You could cheat to remove people from your household and then make them roommates, maybe?
Switching from console to pc and having access to cc really changed my priorities for what packs I want. I have significantly less packs and and I would never buy a pack simply for cas/build and buy content now.
There's more than 1 pack I only bought cause you needed it for cc.

Yes!! I was just looking up ranked pack vids so I can decide on what others packs to buy! It’s fate!
I'm an occult simmer too. I rarely play with normal human Sims. If there's a pack that adds to that, I'll probably buy it.
Vampires
Paranormal
Jungle Adventure
StrangerVille
Spooky Stuff
and I'd have to put Realm of Magic last.
If island paradise wasn’t so buggy, it would’ve been an incredible pack. Island living is kind of trash in comparison.

I completely agree with your opinion on the vampire game pack and I really wish all of the occult would get the same level of gameplay as the vampires in this game

Last time I was this early, Bella was still on Don's roof.
city living, seasons and cats and dogs are my favourite packs! i love the build and buy items from cats and dogs (and seasons), and i think that the festivals/conventions were a great add-on to the game.
About Cats and Dogs:
God I hate that purchase, honestly
seeing my 2 dogs stand absolutely still the entire night right next to the dog bed in a huge house, collapse twice total over that night and still not use the dog bed
it brings me out of the immersion so hard that it absolutely makes me never want to play with pets again
and I loved them in ts3
I think the HUGE difference is in the sims 3 you could control pets. Which helps with immersion because you can make them do pet stuff- like hunting, learning tricks, and using pet furniture. Plus the autonomy in the sims 3 was just overall better.
The pets in Sims 3 practically break the game and i STILL refuse to play with out it because I love having horses/raccoons/deer
Yeah, just
The Sims 4 really sucks with immersion sometimes. Those issues just keep piling up and the team refuse to fix any of it, seems.
And of course, ts3's little critters you could find, I'd run around collection as many as I could, but it's just all so bland in ts4.
What about brindelton Bay?do you like it
@@victoriasenn3818 You have more patience than me.
I think you can find it on mod the sims just google a little
@@ablueluz3954 I found it. Thanks so much.👍
DU just doesn't work well with rotational gameplay in general.
Sims 2 occults where my favourite, because you could combine them, had an Alien Vampire Witch married to a Werewolf Witch at one point.
I actually love the Moschino stuff because of the photographer career! and those windows are fab
The windows are! Taking a photo in game takes forever and my game started lagging so bad - I really wanted to play through the photographer career but it lags so astronomically on my computer that I couldn't.
Take a shot for how many times Jesse says “straight of the bat” 💗😂
OMG, thank you! I was going to rewatch your 'ranking every pack' video and you've made another one=)

Jesse: island living
The subtitles: Ireland living
Picturing a game pack with an Irish world
(Reminder to content creators that subtitles being checked over is very useful please do it!)
If I were on a budget, I'd get Seasons, Parenthood + RoM or V
What I don't have and would like to buy is probably Paranormal and Cottage Living (and maybe Eco lifestyle)
What I regret buying: Cats and Dogs, Outdoor retreat, Jungle Adventure, Spa Day, Island Living, Laundry Day, Get Famous, Discover University.
This helped me most!
I watch so many sims youtubers and most of them don't like the occults while I play almost only with them. So happy to finally see someone who likes them haha
Jason Marsden is one of my favorite voice actors and I was absolutely shocked to see him in this video
But even then, the workday tasks can get pretty routine (do I have to make my coworkers change clothes EVERY DAY?).
detective is my fav and owning your own store i made a vampire family and they own their own occult store and it is so cool and i just never get bored of it
plumbella: "i want more things for my sims to do"
me: proud that my sims have all eaten and showered this week, even though i haven't
Every new pack I come straight to her reviews and gameplay videos to decide on buying them :3
this is the best way to start my day:) i literally just woke up and it says “posted 1 minute ago” i’m in heaven😌✨
Lol im gonna go to sleep soon 🤪
it’s 6pm here lol
i think the only packs that are actually worth it right off the bat are city living, seasons, and cats&dogs. all 3 give a variety of gameplay and decorating options as well as add features that are integral in my opinion (pets, apartments, seasons). all other packs can be interchanged depending on play style and preferences.
These are actually the three I have and I agree! Seasons was really really good and it adds so much! I haven’t explored city living completely yet, but I still got quite a bit of gameplay out of it.
You need to make a video showing every time you have ever said "i've been playing the sims since the year 2000!" XD
im honestly interested in how many times you have said it,
out of all the packs the attention to detail and culture in snowy escape just completely won me over, the cas items and bab r so beautiful and the families backstories are interesting, they even went as far to make all the sims names mean something in japanese
I can’t believe Ive spent over 700$ on the sims and Im not even a game changer 💀
My friend got scammed out of my first pet stuff so that name goes very well with it 😂
dude YES i wish i could refund discover university soooo badly. the CAS was amazing, and build/buy was pretty good, but GOD i never use bikes, and the dorms were just hell, it was so annoying. classes were ALRIGHT if you did off-campus housing but even then its always hard to tell how youre doing in any of your classes so every term id just be surprised when my sim got a C or F after what felt like they were doing good. it makes me so mad because it was SO CLOSE to being my absolute favorite pack, but just because of the execution it made me hate it
@@elicubed For me the clothes are great, robotics were cool. In general really dreadful pack, far from what University actually looks like.
i absolutely HATE discover university and it was one of the first packs i bought. i do not use it Ever
University WAS TERRIBLE. IT WAS THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR ME. I UNINSTALLED THE SIMS 4.
I love your videos!! So fun to watch, love your accent i could listen to you for hours!
Plumbella is the moment
(Can you tell I am a nerd? doing whole ass calculations to see if I wanted cats & dogs or city living?)
Btw, the 3 kits I'm missing are the CAS fit kit or whatever it's called, the vaccuum one, and the oasis one. So I only have country kitchen
I’ve never been THIS EARLY I LOVE U PLUMBELLA
Spooky stuff, my taste for the occult started with Sabrina The Teenage Witch (The Original) and Charmed. Showing my age there. I was at a gathering the other night asking spirit to come forth. I'm waiting for Christy's Readings to drop some stuff as well because she contacts spirit :) I absolutely love it.
I could not live without City Living, Realm of Magic, Vampires, and Eco Lifestyle (in that order).
edit: I FORGOT ABOUT PARANORMAL STUFF. I NEED IT.
sameee!
I'm really glad she made this video bc it's the closer to my personal opinions I've ever got with a simmer (obsessed with occults) I really enjoyed it, thanks for the grate work, stay hydrated =)
me abt to buy a pack "oooh ill be clicking on this"
I’ve been an on/off sims player since shortly before the release of the sims 3. However i got rid of my console and computer and I didn’t end up getting sims 4 until about half a year ago when I got a console again. Right now I only have Tiny Living and Cottage living. I really appreciate videos like these so I can hopefully narrow down what my next pack should be! ❤️
Always gotta have a cup of tea In the Morning!
Yes! Definitely the vid I needed right now since I've been debating about what pack to get next since they are on sale
Question:
How would you feel if The Sims 5 had cheap and free DLC packs *instead* of expansion packs and stuff packs?
Essentially: Less content than TS4 packs, much more frequent drops, astronomically lower cost, occasionally free.
I would want both because some things like Seasons I feel like need to be a full expansion pack or it would not be as good as it needs to be
@@funland19 something like season should be in the Basegame in the first place in my opinion...
Thats a fine smattering of cute freckles youre wearing today! :))
Packs I recommend to friends just starting out Seasons, City living, Eco Living, Snowy Escape, Country Living, Dream Home Decorator, Parenthood, Jungle Adventure, Strangerville, Laundry Day and Country Kitchen
