every fresh faced frankie would be able to root around in the dirt and find a "macho brace" or "super leftovers" or whatever. it takes a real person of outstanding character to find a shiny sploink and that's just what i've done
Nobody cares. Especially if you're gonna undermine other people's efforts in whatever they do. Also, there's no pokemon called "Sploink", the last time I checked. :)
@@rbragdish the last time i checked, i had a shiny sploink and you didn't
@@funnelkaek first of all, there is no pokemon called "Sploink". Go get your facts straight before you come and trash talk online. Please learn to read. LMAO.
@@rbragdish Don't be envious. Sploink only reveals itself to true Pokémon Champions. Maybe one day you'll be good enough too.
@@funnelkaek I have a shiny Celebi from pokémon crystal. Your shiny bacon is worthless
I remember as a kid when I would look up how to find leftovers, it would only say its where snorlax was, but never mentioned to use an item finder to get it. I kid you not, I mashed A all over that area for hours until i was convinced the guide trolled me.
same!
Exactly the same with me. Seeing this video puts all that struggling to rest
Yeah, a lot of old guides had a lot of bad info. I remember my gold/silver guide gave locations to find shiny pokemon, not understanding that it really was just low odds
Bro, seriously. Thanks to this video, I NOW know how to get the Soothe Bell at Pokémon Tower. Never knew to use it while standing there.
@@ignorethis214 oh god a guide telling you where to find shiny Pokemon is *evil*
I had no idea of the item in Ho-oh's place!
Probably because its an vent only location. I hqd no idea either
Makes sense. You normally get sacred ash as a held item from catching ho-oh
@@NoctuaOlivae Why wasn't it holding it?
@@CrystalGreymon beats me, but I like it better this way. I feel like the ash should be something ho-oh leaves in it's wake as opposed to something it holds onto.
@@romantheblack-cat hello other me
I remember discovering this years ago by accident when I decided to see what would happen if I used the itemfinder on that single land tile in the lake on Two Island.
Knew about the Sacred Ash one but not the hidden Gym items instead. Very cool to learn this after so many years, great video! Wonder who first discovered the items in gym one, as it never crossed my mind to actually use the Item Finder inside actual buildings too lol
yeah the macho brace one is just short of being irritating because it's also like one of the only items found in a gym across all games. really really deep cut
At least the sacred ash was also in the OG gold and silver. Wild that it full restored but could only ever get one in the game. Who ever actually USED it?!?
@@droomish1 Exactly! So glad Game Freak chose to change that starting from Gen 3 R/S/E
@@larkohiya IKR? 😭 Would've been cool of Game Freak to make it so that a bag of Sacred Ash was given to players with Ho-Ohs everytime said Ho-Ohs fainted (then revived) in their party (considering you know, Ho-ohs are phoenixes lol)
@Michael Poorman I remember using it , was very upset it didn't work in battle thou, I thought saving for elite 4 would be smart 🤣
leftovers being under snorlax is hidden knowledge you were just born with in the 90's
But remember, the Azure Flute was too complicated
I remember finding the Macho Brace, the Leftovers, and PP Max as a kid.
Never once did I find the Soothe Bell, never mind the Sacred Ash, I didn't even see Ho-oh (although assuming that was an event, no surprise there)
The gen 3 games had so much more heart than people will admit, and I’m voicing it for those who don’t
Gen 2-3 are untouchable
Its more than nostolgia, they squeezed so much into them when they didnt have to
@@Elfking94 Oh it ain’t nostalgia for me, agreed
I consistently play my gen 3 poke games over the later ones. Currently playing Emerald, Fr and Lg. The level grinding is pure agony and I have no clue how I was glued to the game boy for hours back then 😂
@@Juice-dr5ve I can understand that. Pokemon games tend to get slower and slower in some aspects while barely speeding up the other lol
That PP max was goated but also fairly obvious as one square. The Giovanni and soothe Bell are cool I didn't know that and have played those games endless amounts
When I was a kid I remember finding a couple of these because I was obsessed with the idea of hidden items everywhere but didn't know why some had stars pop up. Cool!
I'm proud to have known all of these, I always loved using the itemfinder as a kid and digging up cool items
You and me both. Like new area, Item Finder.
I was aware of nost of these like leftovers and macho brace, but didn't know about that PP Max. literally would have never thought to look there
I saw that spot once and I was like “I doubt there’s anything there but I might as well try the Itemfinder” and I was pleasantly surprised
HG/SS's Item Finder was such a good tool that sadly never made it to another game.
Lmao you had to re open it constantly and therefore no one really used it, it was absolutely awful and the item finder in Gen4 was way better in every regard
@@Einheit101 I don't know, I hated Diamond/Pearl's item finder with a passion, even more so than Red/Blue Silver/Gold. The fact you had to constantly tap the lower screen multiple times and wait for the item to show itself was such a pain. It felt so much more satisfying runnung around while holding the touch screen until the colour changed. The only redeeming factor I can see it having is it's active all the time.
But, of course, opinions are individual, and I respect yours for what they are, these are just my issues with it.
FRLG's item finder was my favorite lol it was simple and gave you a direction to go 😂
HG/SS and the Unova games had the best itemfinders, the Sinnoh games completely fumbled the bag on that lol
I used to go through the old games and use itemfinder on every screen. In GSC, I had it registered to select. I was afraid I would miss something and wanted to have the I 100% completed the game feeling.
Gen 5's itemfinder is my favorite so far, very nice interface
In HGSS, there's a hidden item (hyper potion I think?) underneath a public item on one of the early little islands between Olivine City and the Whirl Islands. Just always something that stuck out to me
I believe it’s a tm, always seemed weird it was under it lol
Lol, I remember this!
Imagine if this exists in S/V and all items were hidden! 😂
I remember how the soothe Bell was hidden in a very weird way
Back in my day we didn't have all these little sparkles to help find hidden items. We checked every individual square by hand!
I think the sparkles are nicer than what would have totally become "lol you were slightly off, no nugget for you" as you are in a herd of Tauros and are getting frustrated from the cycle of encounters over and over
Pathetic. Back in my day we buried them there.
back in my day those fancy routes where you hide and find items were huge fields of tall grass
And we LIKED IT! 😤
Can't believe FireRed was my first ever handheld game in 2010 and I just learned about these secret items through the video. Leftovers would have been so helpful for my dozens of playthroughs!!
I FUCKING LOVE LEFTOVERS RAAAGHHH
I just learned there is an Elixir there on that Bills House route.
Would have helped me and many challenge runs for others 👍
I know of that because of Scott’s Thoughts.
If only Ursaluna did this in legends arceus, that would actually make them worth something outside of competitiveness.
Is this Pokémon Battle Revolution music??? The ost has such a specific nostalgia
Oh so one of them is locked behind an event that has been around for almost 2 decades
In the original Pokemon Blue there is a hidden rare candy in one of the marts. I had used all of my rare candies before I heard about the Missing no glitch, I randomly found it one day. I cant find it mentioned in online guides.
One of the first game play things I didn't know about gen 4 back I've learned that's super useful. Crazy.
thats why i love today all the secrets we never able to dowload all the guides and all the pokemon rom or not free or not
I knew all of these along with every hidden item in the game. (I love this game way too much.)
I didn't know about these items, but I wasn't concentrating much on thhe video because I was too busy jamming to Pokemon Battle Revolution music. Like damn, that brings me back. That announcer's voice lives in my head forever.
This short truly show how much i spents im FR/LG, i got them all (tho the ashes in emu)
Dang I didn't know that you could find those things with the item finder. It helped keep me from being broke fish out of water in the earlier games before the modern game updates like shared experience and frequently finding items on the ground in plain sight were a thing.
That Giovanni bit was news to me. Never thought to go back
A fellow Wattson main?
I remember when I first got an item finder in Diamond and not understanding how it worked.. I knew I was the center but didn't think to step one tile away from the item to pick it up.. I was always standing on top of items and just eventually gave up and assumed it was a stupid feature.. I only learned how they actually worked in Gen 6 and then went back.. it took a bit longer to realize the items still existed without the finder though..
Ironically this old version of it would have worked better for kid me lol since I stood on items.. but glad that it wasn't kept nowadays
FRLG make me so nostalgic!
I still fondly remember turning those Games Off to Play Emerald :p
I just finished a Playthrough of LeafGreen & those Leftovers would've been nice to have!!
I just discovered your channel bro and I love your content
In heartgold I somehow missed that you were supposed to touch the screen, and went through a whole playthrough being really confused why there seemed to be no items around. The guides I read for the itemfinder didn't make any sense because they all assumed I knew to touch the screen lmao
Gyarados's red scale paved the road for it.
I knew about them all... I've... played Fire Red and Leaf Green way too frickin' much as a kid. XD
Dat BATTLE REVOLUTION music dog
As someone who has this as my first mainline game, I was pretty stoked when James used it in the anime for some reason. XD
i knew about the leftovers and soothe bell (although i could've sworn you could find that one without the item finder) but had no idea about the other 3, that's cool
When I was growing up, the internet was still in its infancy, so my siblings and I didn't even know how to get these hidden items or that they even existed.
If I dig down in pokemon tower would I find a basement ful of DEAD BODYS??
Easy like for the Battle Revolution music 👍🏻
Only ever found the Giovanni one thought it was a one time thing
My favourite was diamond and pearls because moving in that game was blocky, so you could search for an item on your finder app and when you find the item you count how many steps horizontal and vertical you need to take by counting the lines on the app but take one less step so you don’t stand on the item.
dowsing thingamajig looked so goofy in oras
Someone gotta put this on the "things you didn't know about": fire red ,leaf green
Neat, I only knew about the Leftovers.
I remember as a kid hours of fun of using the item finder on an island in the semi islands were it said alot of trash is swept there and I was like is that random dialogue or is they're actually items from there and I would just farm for hours they're finding pearls, nuggets, and just random items
Remember the days you have to press A on every corner
The item finder is a really good item!
This is legit, glad I clicked on this short.
You can also see hidden items and berries because there will be a little round shadow on the tile. As if there’s actually an invisible pokeball there. Every spot like that has an item the first time u check, but not every item is marked like that
I have consistently across the game series walked up to hidden items and picked them up without knowing they were there beforehand simply through luck,
just because I like to hit interact on anything that looks even mildly suspicious
it took me until sun & moon to find out why the hell I kept picking up items from doing that
I didnt even know the item finder existed in any other games besides emerald ruby and saphire
always knew about the ppmax and all candy locations in frlg
HES PLAYING BATTLE REVOLUTION MUSIC OMG
Only knew about the Sacred Ash and Leftovers
Kids really screaming about that Sacred Ash.
Damn, I played leaf green so much and now I know I never completed it lol
I found the PP Max and Macho Brace just by stumbling around and exploring as a kid with too much free time.
I either never got one, or knew how to even use one in pokemon X and Y and I did that hotel item finding job so many times, I thought it was supposed to be long and tedious, clicking to check a spot walk 1 block forward click again and so on
Wow, I never would look underneath an npc. I wish I registered the Item Finder instead of the bike.
The HGSS Itemfinder was the absolute best one in the series. Change my mind.
anyone noticed the pokemon battle revolution music playing in the back
*sigh* time to replay Fire Red
If you go to Snorlax's other former location (Route 12), you'll find a second piece of Leftovers ^^
So the guide saying where you catch Ho-oh is the same place you get the Navel Rock, isn't lying!
FR/LG are the best games the franchise ever produced and reasons like this are why. The only Pokémon game to date that truly rewards you for exploring the game. Mayybbeee B/W2 and to a lesser extent OR/AS
I remember the Giovanni one
BDSP: Hey did you thought Pokemon GSC's item finder was bad?? Let me show you something
Yo I had no idea coz I would just memorize where the hidden items were after several play throughs. So I never bothered using it. Thanks for the info though.
Once all the items are found does that make itemfinder useless?
If you already know where absolutely everything is, I guess. But it's still an extremely useful tool for newcomers and non-veterans alike
There are items like this in the original Blue and Red too
I seriously have to go back and complete the game
huh, I only knew of the leftovers and the pp max, I didn't know the soothe bell and the macho brace where there all this time.
soothe bell could be useful if Golbat could evolve before national dex
okay time to start anew leaf green
Pokemon wii battle game music
Technically 6 items since there are 2 leftovers 1 underneath each snorlax. I didn’t know about the sacred ash being one though!
I believe this came from red and blue, where there was an item in the 8th gym as well under Giovanni. Though I believe that one wasn't a very special item.
Could be wrong though, it has been a good few years since I played yellow or red
Honestly the only one I knew about was the Leftovers.
I loved HGSS Dowsing Machine, it was miles better than what the PokeApp provided me in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
Ohhh very cool!!
God damn I only knew about the PP Max and Leftovers wtf
How did the expect kids to find this out 15 years ago???? 🤣
I love the item finder from xy
I need to go on my completed fire red copy and do some item finding
I think I got all of them without the use of the item finder. After you get over the play time limit you try to do things. I have slight doubts I had the leftovers, not 100% sure I had it.
But otherwise i got every other one without the item finder.
Thanks that nerd in two island told me that "discerning trainers buy rare items" after I dug up a PP Max lmao what a consoomer, I got three for free and I only dug them out under the ground.
I only knew of the PP Max
Wow. Never knew this
Bruh had no idea..
What about some items on treasure island south of One island? I remember using the item finder there, being told where to go multiple times and never found anything there aside from a nugget (maybe it was this, it's been years since then)
Wait this is crazy! Are there any other games where you have to use the Itemfinder/Dowsing machine and can’t just mash A to pick up the item?
i just found the macho brace yesterday!!
