- Ok, so this is the first time I've heard Iam sing and play, and it blew me away, as it did everyone on AI. This is a re-upload of the original reaction, which was blocked by ABC/Fremantle. In order to not get a strike, I had to take it down. But the original reaction is available for free on my patreon, just scroll down a few vids. Anyway, I am hoping this one can stay up, because I loved this performance so much.

He sings "Monsters" with James Blount on the last day of American Idol. You think that his audition hit you, wait until you hear him sing that song. I'm sure you will cry a lot by that song. I have seen it over and over again and it's just like the 1st time I hear. I cry like a baby. Love always. Ontario, Canada
His second song made me recognize his voice was exemplary. “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt because it was so pure and the vibrato added a beauty that still hits me. He is worth the critique by you. He is amazing.
His second song he sang on idol”I can’t make you love me” was the moment I realized he was probably going to win the whole thing.
And it was the first time the other contestants heard him sing too. Wonder what they were thinking; their faces were very yelling 😆 😮
He draws you into the song and grabs your soul and takes you on the journey with him..

Check out the finale where he had to cover a Keith Urban song. Keith just told him to basically do what he wanted with the song: Making Memories of Us.
First off " It's kinda an emotional day. # Arbor Day" gave me a much needed chuckle. I loved your point of view on Iam. He is just so raw and natural, and you are 100% correct, I don't want anyone to spoil him.
That Iam’s audition video has gone up to some 19 million views since it came out has got to be saying something. It’s one thing to feel sorry for him but another thing entirely when you can feel his grief in the song and cry along with him. Lionel Richie said it best when he said that Iam’s delivery of his story was phenomenal.

IZ is short for Israel. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was a force in the Hawaiian music scene. He touched the world with his music and Aloha. And now, Iam is also spreading the Spirit of Aloha throughout the world with a voice his father helped him to develop. Yes, Iam truly has a well seasoned voice and a pure natural gifting. Thank you for covering his audition. Watch his cover of Stuck On You by Lionel Richie. Even Lionel was blown away....

Hawaii is a tourist destination.....almost everything there is expensive
It’s not I Z, separate letters, it’s Iz, short for Israel. His last name is Kamakawiwo’ole. (Kamaka-vivo-o-lay.)
There are a lot of similarities in their voices. Iam has a some rasp, and Iz sang more in falsetto, which is common in Hawaii. I think Iam uses more vibrato too.
Definitely look up all of Iam’s AI performances and his self-released videos with his dad. They’re beautiful together. The voice grows on you with each song. You’ll cry with almost every song. We all experienced it.
