Structure Series 05: The Last Resort. Kitbashing an Outland Models Structure to Fit an Unusual Space

  • The Last Resort Hotel was a ‘filler’ building created to occupy a strange space behind the forks of an elevated highway. The building was constructed using parts of an Outland Models Modern Building Five-Story Apartment. I experimented with changing the windows to sliding glass doors behind Juliet balconies and adding an extra story to the building’s height. This particular build was challenging as I ran into problems with adhesives, paints, and technical errors while recording the video. Overall, I'm happy with the results, and the building fits nicely into its setting. The silver lining for this project was the addition of some new 3D-printed details. I have purchased a 3D printer, and I’m excited to combine printed components with kit-bashed buildings.

    It's fascinating to watch the episodes in chronological order. One can see the development of you technics, skills and will to experiment with the buildings. Great.

    Another amazing build and a great video. I don’t think I have the patience, eyesight, steady hands, etc needed to do that, but I’m sure going to try when I get to the point of needing buildings. Thanks for the great vids and the inspiration.

    Tweezers, Knife, White Glue, Paint and Sound. Oh, and imagination.
    That was just plain ugly. I loved it! Many of your painting techniques could be used for weathering rolling stock. Oh, and the train coming out of the drainage pipe, nice touch..

      Thank you. The sad truth is I'm working up the nerve to start attacking my rolling stock as I'm hesitant to destroy models I may or may not have overpaid for.

      Very kind of you to say. Perhaps people aren't interested in apocalyptic models when they're living in a global pandemic? :)

    Another informative post!!! Great work.... and I love the "showing it being done rather than telling us how to do it" style. Super educational and really interesting. Please keep up the great work!!!!!!

    Not sure if you play Table Top war gaming, but any apocalyptic or zombie setting - your boards are probably the best around. Insane detail. I struggle with any scale smaller than 28mm, but this is unreal.

      @@NScaleDystopia I highly recommend County Road Z, Five Parsecs, and Five Leagues from the Borderlands. Can either be played solo or co-op and create emergent stories that do best with terrain - which you can clearly build : D

    Another excellent build! The way you cut out each individual letter was truly impressive! I don't think I have that kind of skill. I know how tiny N scale is and that makes your work all the more impressive.

    I'm glad I found your channel. I'm looking to make a layout similar but more cyberpunkish. Some of your techniques will be very useful to me, like the rusting on the pipe sections. Have you thought about having any graffiti on your buildings?

      Same. A bit of explanation of how you did the stenciling/transfer.

    • @NScaleDystopia
      @NScaleDystopia  3 роки тому +1

      Goo Gone is a high potency solvent that can dissolve the ink on a laser printout or photocopy. By soaking the image with a bit of the solvent, you can easily transfer the printout to another surface. If the other surface is painted, the solvent will attack that surface as well.
