I appreciate this video. I've purchased about 30 kits and I am working through converting them into better versions of themselves. The affordability was the sole reason I began a new urban layout - I simply couldn't afford to build a city with DPM etc. kits.
If you hasn’t see these conversations- I recommend checking it out. Holy crap - amazing work!
Hi Jimmy, I have often pondered using these as background or fill in buildings. You have made my decision for me. Thanks. See ya next time.
Hi Jimmy, I'm using Outlander Models buffer stips. To my eyes they have a very old British appearance. Paint them and clip them on the track. Simple and tidy. Enjoyed your video.
Very nice demo, Jimmy. The building looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. I wanted to see how these assemble (easy or not), and your video here was very informative.
I just recently received a bunch of the Outland pre-painted buildings via Amazon, and will be using them to complement my 6mm war gaming layout.
Hi Jimmy, These are fantastic buildings and as with so many things the amount of work that you put in to it pays dividends. Although these are also available in HO, I have used the N Gauge buildings and find that at that scale the fine detail is not as visible. I have added variable lighting to some of mine, added extra floors and of course, people. This is easy to do post build as they pop apart easily. As you have a 3D printer you could also make loads of office furniture and so forth to add interest to the models. I also have their signals and am about to try adding miniature LEDs to see how they will turn out. The nice thing for me is that their pricing is very good and the shipping time from China is really quick. I see you go through Amazon, I have been buying direct.
Nice. Great info. Never heard of Outland before. You made a simple kit look very good with painting and weathering 😎. Anthony
Good video! Thank you for sharing this with us!
I couldn't find yer vid on making weathering powders. I am a subscriber and love yer videos.
Good review of the N scale kit. I've picked up a few Z Scale Outland Model kits because the low price point lets me see if I can detail buildings well in that scale. Success or fail and they can be background buildings to get me started building forward.
It's nice some smaller companies are offering affordable models for people who can't afford 300 resin printers or pay the large companies ridiculas prices for their models.
Thats a nice easy kit to build, like you said its good for a fill in building.
Nice video. I recently stumbled across Outland Models. I agree with your assessments, and I've purchased about a half dozen. My thought is that the models that aren't too well printed are early efforts, and the models are getting better. Perhaps they've purchased better printers. I will be purchasing more of these to fill in background structures, but some of them are good enough, I feel they can make good foreground buildings with the addition of details. You can't beat the prices.
Looked Outland models on line and found the have a party good line up not only building....thanks for sharing....Jack
What scale
@@chrisstarring2991 n scale of course😄
There look like a good starting point for adding extra detail 👍
Great little starter, and can be detailed
They are interesting models. Crude detail, but they are done with inexpensive 3D printers. They are good base forms to add your own detail to adapt and customize to something unique. Good wall or background structures.
That is a nice looking model. How do the compare scale wise to the DPM kits. Thanks for sharing. Dave
I've been considering some of their buildings Jimmy, but they're the ones with the 3D printing marks on them. Perhaps you could investigate one of those?
The building you've made looks good enough since you weathered it.
Those 3D printed kits don't look very good on a layout. I've tried two of them. The printing marks on the walls are just two prominent to look realistic without a lot of work
@@nms9 appreciate the Intel. Thanks.
good video i always wondered what type of quality these buildings were, they make a few that are high rise type
Good day Jimmy. That a neat little building and you are right, would make a very background building or even with a few added details up-front also. Kit turned out great, looks like one can be done in less than a half hour.
Do they make these in HO Scale?
Thanks for sharing
Muse
Yes they do have some kits in HO Scale
@@DIYDigitalRailroad Great site and lot of buildings to chose from. Thanks for sharing the info.
Also, note these are *not* N scale, which is 1/160th. These are a tiny bit bigger at 1/150th. Structures are an area you may not notice it as doorways can vary in size for commercial buildings. The automobiles are very noticeably out of scale though.
They sell a 'bus terminal' that is not a good choice for US modelers, but it does make a really nice large truck repair shop.
Jimmy, i use these for the City look,on my layout.I use the high rise buildings, and they come with the windows all ready covered/filled in.Suggestion, when showing how to do something, please put the camera in a different angle. We,or at least me want to see you doing it,not your hand moving/doing the job.Great Video,Happy Railroading.🌍✌
Jimmy,
I haven't used SnapTight in decades. Neither a fan nor detractor.
From what you demo'ed I may try Outland out. But I was wondering how easy/complicated is it to pop apart to Super Detail AFTER I assemble.
I understand your use but on my layouts the "KID" Operators play an MMRxR scavenger hunt so I need, and enjoy, detailing/animating inside and out.
I'm also thinking of useing Outland for kitbashing models & parts as well.
What is the best "glue" to assemble these kits? I do not like "snap together" buildings. I prefer to glue them together. I know that these kits are not made out of the same type of plastic as regular model kits. I think the plastic is PVC. So, this is the reason why I asked about the proper "glue" to use.
i have 7 of the kits on my layout. my only grip is it takes so long to get the kits , maybe its because i live in australia . ido love the kits in n scale
available in HO scale or just N scale?
They do have some kits in HO Scale
There available in o thur z scale
Good!
Well, I like the building, maybe some American Mgf. could do these also.....
What scale are these?
Can you do more of these outland models as I was looking at there factory
Should have Predrilled holes in the plastic for lights
Good idea- now i guess you drill out bottom and floors to light up
Looks like a good filler building....
Outland models don't come with instructions which makes no sense.
looks pretty cheap, yeah, no thanks. Nice video however.
