The Everbearing Mulberry Tree is one of the most abundant trees I own without a doubt! It produces a massive amount of fruit and very quickly! You should expect to see roots developing within 4-8 weeks of propagation. If the Mulberry Tree you took cuttings from was mature or fruit producing age.... you can expect to see fruit in a year or less! Get out there and get some cuttings! I hope this video inspires you!
I literally just found a random mulberry tree by the parking lot at the office. I'm going to try to take a branch or 2 and make my own cuttings! Thanks for the info!

Jason Myers? They didn't root. I used coconut growing medium and root powder and covered them in white plastic, but it didn't work. I have a few cuttings in plain water now, but its not looking good. Seems the dark illinois mulberrys are harder to propagate from cuttings. I'm going to keep trying. Its from a seedless female tree. I will, however, be picking mulberrys soon! 😏
@@januarysdaughter6664 we've got some Tai mulberry in the yards it's about 4 years old in the ground 3. I just got some successful propagation through cutting. I found out placing tye cutting in a 5 gallon bucket of water covering about 4 inches for 36 hours give or take. Then shoving them in some gallon pots with our own potting mix compost. And I'm at a 60% success rate. Also the cuttings themselves I've found the dark woody branches did better.

Thanks for your video. Mulberry trees are tough. I just tried a cutting from a branch, stuck it in potting soil and it has started growing nicely. Nothing special. Be patient with cuttings, they take time.

That is exactly what I did a month ago. I potted 31 cuttings in clear plastic cups with Miracle Grow potting soil and a root enhancer on the end of the cuttings. I got the cuttings from my Gala apple, Pink Lady apple, Heart of Georgia Peach and Ox Hear plum. I know at least a third of them have developed roots with probably more will be included as time goes by. I spritz them several times a day and water them several times a week. I won’t know until Spring comes around. Hopefully, most of them survive the winter. I have had good luck with azaleas, gardenias and forsythia in the past.

I subscribed because I am about to move to Florida in March. Zone 9a.. Trying to subscribe to every gardening or nursery channel in or near that zone. I found I had better success doing my cuttings in heavy shade but these are Mulberries which are very durable so I bet you have 100% success.

Nice Vossie get out there! I think everyone should have a little garden... or even better a big one if they have space! I think we lack that here in the states I wish more people would grow a little more of their food like you say it is very rewarding in many ways! I also have been learning the ways nature grows without fertilizer by building soil and creating systems learning many new things 😊

I think the best rooting medium and container is a combination of white sand, vermiculite, perlite and peat moss in equal parts and put in a plastic covered container, placed in a warm shaded area. I tried a new method my last time. I put them in clear plastic cups with Miracle Grow moisture control potting soil. I watered them along the same regiment I have done in the past, every several days and spritz them often with a spray water bottle. After several weeks I added a pinch of bone meal to each container to facilitate rooting. Each cutting had a root hormone on it.
The most success I have had is with azalea cuttings. 50 years ago I trimmed my mother’s azaleas at the farm and brought home a bag of cuttings to root. I just stuck them in a sandy area behind the house and forgot them. Most of them lived, survived and I replanted them a few months later. I hope my fruit wood cuttings are as successful.

Hi.. so I've been wondering, most that I've seen mulberry cuttings are the stem.. how about its branch, big as 3 or 4 fingers wide of its branch or stem, is it better to plant with successful rate or the stem are much better?

The sooner the better! :) Warmth is best for growth but you can do it anytime!

Yes I did an update with success! I have too many mulberry trees to count, to be honest you'll be fine without rooting hormone but it's always nice to experiment for yourself to see if it improves success. Mulberry and figs seem to do really great rooting out even without the root hormone. Most important thing I think is making sure they aren't in direct full sun so they dont dry out too quickly but also should not over water otherwise they may rot. Good luck!

Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry are good in zones 5 to 11. Depends on the type and where they came from because they come from different countries.

Awesome Julie! I never had tried a mulberry until I started learning about them through youtube, I caught the gardening bug when youtube recommended me some garden related stuff. They are delicious! Can't really find mulberries in the store they perish so quick, maybe frozen. If you found a tree close to you I bet you could take some cuttings from it and turn it into a tree! 🌳✨

I have had success rooting mulberry sticks in water alone! I would suggest trying a couple hardwood / softwood cuttings you can put them on a window seal if available or keep in the kitchen, make sure to change the water out every few days! You can do the same with potting soil, they actually do not need light to grow roots however a little light will do good to prepare them for the outdoors!
I put 8 cuttings in small pots today. Should I lightly water them every day? I have them in a shady area
I would say keep an eye on them, if you notice the top of the soil dry out I'd give it a bit of water but be careful not to over water they might rot instead of root 👍👍 Good luck!!
I did root mulberry cuttings by using top soil mixed with dried leaves of Mutingia calabura...Out of five, three rooted.

To be honest if you have the opportunity... the SOONER the BETTER! You can even root cuttings in water inside the house any time of year... I believe warm weather is the best time for rooting cuttings. 👍

What’s the largest size cutting you can use? My neighbors tree hangs over my property- the tree is as tall as a telephone pole! Their berries fall on our shed and make a mess. I’m concerned that the tree will die from the infestation of lantern flies. My poodle used to love rolling in all of the berries. Lol he’d smell like wine and his fur would be purple. I’d like my own trees so I could eat the berries before they hit the ground.

Hey mark, I would suggest if you haven't already look up a few videos on what could be the cause and compare it to how your plant looks. It could be many things from harmless to severe... maybe fungal or cold damage? but one thing I will say is from dealing with mulberries they are very hardy and unless it's something serious the plant should bounce back quick 👍
depends kind of on your location and how fast it dries out, you want to keep the soil wet at all times while it's rooting but not overly saturated with water

Seed is good for diversity too 👍 mulberry cuttings fruit very fast, usually within the first year as long as the mother tree is at producing age

I did 25 cuttings and everything one of them died.
How was your moisture? Sounds like they may have either been too wet or got too dried out.... the leaves will usually stay on for around 1-3 weeks before drying up and falling off and you start seeing new growth.. I need to do an update on mine because I think I've got around 70% success with the ones I took in this video.. Will have an update coming soon, don't get discouraged! Try again but experiment this time... maybe put some cuttings under a big shaded tree or I have even seen some people use plastic bins inside or in a garage to keep humidity in... they just can't be too wet under the soil or they will rot or too dry above the soil they will get fried and lose all moisture.. I hope you try it again! Also, did you happen to use rooting hormone?
Use gloves when touching soul if possible to avoid developing a nasty allergy after a while.

I'm not sure why but it is an ancient tree and I want some babies! I am up in British Columbia, Canada on Vancouver Island. Any advice on taking cuttings up here? Thanks for the video
For mulberries I usually don't, they definitely like warmth to sprout roots... there's a sweet spot of soil moisture that is perfect not too wet but not too dry.. and they can't ever completely dry out. Keep trying, you'll get it!
