And that lady is "Janet Vogel Rapp" who was an awesome individual with beautiful looks and was a mother until she ended her own life,in 1980 and this happened by carbon monoxide witch is a very deadly criminal and left behind one son with an abusive father and it is because of the father that she had taken her own life may she rest in peace, miss her lots
Back in the 50s as a young teen with crushes on girls and broken hearted nights listening to the radio, the Skyliners' music spoke to my heart and gave it a voice. RIP Jimmy Beaumont.
I don't know how many people are interested, but years ago,Phil Spector said that Jimmy Beaumont had the greatest voice that he had ever heard. It must have been in one of his normal periods when he wasn't completely out of his mind. I saw the original group at the Academy of Music on 14th st in Manhattan in 71, just as the oldies were making a comeback and to see these young people singing the songs was incredible! Jimmy was only 19 when "Since I Don't Have YOU" was a monster and now he's 30 and in his prime singing oldies? 12 years is nothing, but little did anyone know it,they were on their way as were many other groups that were cheated as kids. A year later they forced a Rock Station to change into an oldies station WCBS,and for almost 50 years there was no looking back. Probably the best time of my life. And definitely all of the pre Beatles groups lives that were part of that comeback.
Oh my goodness Jimmy sounded INCREDIBLE! back then, if only these timeless singers could live forever and never change, immortality should be granted to the LEGENDS!
Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners. The real deal! What a beautiful voice and what a beautiful song. They don't make songs like this anymore. What a shame.
You are right . I watched a few American Idol type shows where a contemporary girl singer ruins Connie"s classic song " Where the Boys Are " in the first line by pronouncing " Boyees " instead of the rigtht way , " Boys ".
we oldie people recognize this song as one of the greatest to ever come from the era. and please never forget that jimmy was one of the finest singers of his generation.
I come back and listen to this gem often. Wow Jimmy Beaumont could sing!!! And this particular performance of his is by far my favorite - my only complaint is the video quality. But his voice sounds fantastic. He uses that great falsetto and perfect melisma not to show off but to sing straight from the heart. Excellent song writing as well. Not sure who wrote the melody and harmonies (writing is credited to the entire band) ... but they really hit a home run with tune in every respect!
Jimmy Beaumont is one of the finest crooners ever. Certainly in a class with Freddie Mercury, and I wish they had sung a duet because Freddie could sing anything with anyone. That would have been beautiful.
Wow! I was hesitant that this performance wouldn't live up to the album recording. But having watched the video, the live version is exponentially better.
The Skyliners Are My All Time Favorite Group, They Are And Were Great Then & Now, The Music, Harmony And Band, Lead Singer Jimmy Beaumont Are The Best Of The Best! R.I.P. In Heaven Jimmy! Joe Black ( A Bronx Tale) Actor And Very Big Fan That Met The Skyliners A Few Times Back Stage.
beautiful through the years, Jimmy and Ms. Vogel. Once in a life time and I am glad I live through this master rock piece! Thanks Skyliners. Louis A., NYC
oh how I loved the skyliners back then and to this day. there will never be music like this again. I'm so proud to be brought up in the doo wop generation
Growing up listening to this kind of music, makes tough to accept what passes for music today... or better yet, it makes it easier to reject the music of today. I need to get back to work on my Time Machine....
Really difficult song to sing. I saw him sing it live in the mid 80's and he pulled it off very well then. Praise to that soprano who helps make this a truly great song.
Man, to put time into perspective! I remember seeing this clip back in '74 on TV, I believe it was on the Midnight Special program that ran every Saturday night. I remember thinking 15 years had passed since this song was a big hit on the Radio. 15 years seemed like a long time to me then, like ancient history, but I was very happy to see and hear the Skyliners again. Now here it is, 42 years later (than '74)! Several years ago my wife and I went to see the Skyliners when they came to our county in Florida (during the winter). At the end of the show I shook Jimmy's hand and told him I loved that song since I was 11 years old (when it came out) -- and that IMO it is the greatest Doo Wop song of all times.
At 56 yrs old.... I must say. After growing up in a family who's dad played with the great Guy Lombardo. This rates in the top 3 of my favorites of all time......
When I was a little girl my brother and I was listen to Guns n roses version of this song and my dad said, this is a cover and me and my brother was surprised about this fact. At that time we didnt had internet to check up this version. Later on dady passed away, unfortunally, and one of the first things I did when I discovered the online universe was to find this original version. What a amazing surprise, since then I am so in doubt about wich version is better... Love Guns n roses version but this is a masterpiece!
For me, this song could go on and on. His voice is so strong, his range is amazing and Patty LaBelle owes him a lot. I will come back and view this classic performance often. Thanks to the Skyliners for a song that will endure forever!!
Did not realize it at the time but the Master of Ceremonies if you get to watch another clip of this is the late, great, Clay Cole, renown D.J. and host of the rock and roll era. You might recall him in " Twist Around the Clock." 1961. RIP. Clay and thanks.
When the woman you love and have dedicated your life to - Walks out - Many of us question the rationale for even getting up and going to work in the morning. The writer of this song - And the singer who interprets his lyrics - Nails it - At least for me.
The writer of the song was with Jimmy and had just lost his girlfriend. He wrote the words, Jimmy wrote the music in 15 minutes and a million seller was born and a classic! I still have the 45 record and the 45 record This I Swear. My favorites forever.
Thank you Jimmy Beaumont and Janet Vogel and all the Skyliners for the incredible gift you gave us with your music. I am so pleased to watch this video with Janet up there next to Jimmy. It's heartbreaking to think she felt the need to end it all. I wish the camera man had had some brains and focused on Janet singing her heart out throughout the song. Love you Jimmy, Janet and the rest of the Skyiners.
Love this stuff. My fathers music and I grew up with it. I always loved the contrast of the way these artist looked in the 50's and then seeing them in the 70's or as I liked to say :Their 70's period" They looked old to me in the 70's when I was a kid. Not so much anymore being in my 40's. Jimmy B looks like a youngster here.
I had to watch this. over 15 years after the original and this was great. don't know if that's the original lead singer but he tore this up and the lady hitting the high note in the end was great.. this video is a gem.
I’m stunned that Jimmy Beaumont did not have a much bigger career. Fantastically gifted voice.
Let's not forget the lady in this song, she had a tremendously high range.
Bob Anderson She should have had a verse in that song using such a range, then use it when it comes to the chorus.
Janet Vogel was the range.
And that's a fact
And that lady is "Janet Vogel Rapp" who was an awesome individual with beautiful looks and was a mother until she ended her own life,in 1980 and this happened by carbon monoxide witch is a very deadly criminal and left behind one son with an abusive father and it is because of the father that she had taken her own life may she rest in peace, miss her lots
I can somehow hit that high note she hits and ive got a somewhat deep voice
That is an incomparable voice. His falsetto is incredible.
Great guy
This was 16 years after they nailed it. They were so good. But imagine how good they were in the late 1950s!
His voice just got better with time ,RIP..
That falsetto is a tear-jerker for a man with a broken heart.
Works the same on this woman!
A song that has been my very favorite since 1959. Now Jimmy has passed away and thank God he left us his beautiful music. RIP Jimmy
10/7/2017....RIP Jimmy..
It's not a falsetto. It's Janet Vogel's natural range.
Rich B definitely falsetto from the male singer around 1:45
Back in the 50s as a young teen with crushes on girls and broken hearted nights listening to the radio, the Skyliners' music spoke to my heart and gave it a voice. RIP Jimmy Beaumont.
Your comment is spot on.
Janet Vogel Rapp hitting those high notes at the end gives me goosebumps eveytime, what a voice and amazing talent, God rest her beautiful soul!

Very cool to hear. I was born in the 90s but definitely have an old soul. I love the jukebox doo wop era music so much.
one of the best recordings of all time.
Oh my goodness Jimmy sounded INCREDIBLE! back then, if only these timeless singers could live forever and never change, immortality should be granted to the LEGENDS!
Immortality will be granted to everybody in the next life

So handsome then and still handsome now, great song, brings back many memories..The Skyliners are GREAT

Idk why this song takes me to those times, like memories are vague, like I was around those times, and I'm only 30!!!
Jimmy Beaumont never lost his magic.
Jimmy was one outstanding singer!!!

Janet Vogel put the icing on that cake. 💖💖💖💖
This is what a song should sound like!
The voice, the amazing voice, Jimmy Beaumont...thank you.

LOL no.
I sure do! I'm about the same age & I love older songs like this. it's very classic and in my opinion better than plenty of music today

Whoa still sounds as good as the original. Love this tear jerker.
For me 1974 ( I was 10 ) it was the best of times for my whole family. Oh how I so miss those times.
Skyliners one of the all time best vocal bands of the 50's. Young Jimmy and his backups were like sounds from the heavens.
Did not realize it at the time but the Master of Ceremonies if you get to watch another clip of this is the late, great, Clay Cole, renown D.J. and host of the rock and roll era. You might recall him in " Twist Around the Clock." 1961. RIP. Clay and thanks.
I love this beautiful song, his voice is just as perfect as always. GREAT !!!! x

Brother Bruce The writer and singer are one and the same.
Enrico Sanchez You mean to say that Jimmy wrote that song? That's something that I never knew until you commented.

Wonderful song

The part I like best is when his voice gets higher and louder. *I don't have love to share. And I don't have one who cares...* 👏🏼~
My favorite Skyliners song...have always had a huge crush on Jimmy! LOL
This is so lovely
