Great episode. Thanks. I encourage everyone to read the original novel by Dodie Smith (who also co-wrote the awesome film The Uninvited). Disney did a wonderful job adapting her story, in some cases word for word dialog, but the book has many more memorable and iconic scenes. Cruella is more fleshed out and has a husband and a white cat. She gives a dinner party for The Dearly's (changed to Radcliffes by Disney) in which everything tastes of pepper. If you can find a copy with the original illustrations, they portray these events so beautifully, including a map of the Twilight Bark. It's otherworldly. There are also two nannies, and along with Pongo, there are TWO adult female dalmatians and 98 puppies. The atmosphere of the book is indelible, and the original film captures it beautifully. But in franchising the property, Disney has really done a disservice to the genius of the novel and its spooky vibe, first with Glenn Close's ridiculously over-the-top version with John Hughes, then the mediocre tv show versions, and now the recent backstory version. They respect neither Dodie Smith's nor Mark Davis' gothic visions.

So I had no idea that they considered using Cruella De Vil for the Rescuers. Honestly, that probably would have been a better movie... (For the life of me, I don't know why your channel isn't getting more love, so happy to leave some comments)
