Fantastic and very helpful. My dryer was rattling - cleaned the lint out of the blower as you showed and it's back to normal. Thanks for this vodeo!

You're a genius. I short cut the disassembly and fished all the lint out with a bamboo skewer and a coat hanger. Took the filter out, manually spun the lint out and carefully removed the huge glob. My wife is happy I didn't take it apart. Thanks again man!!!!!!!!!!

The EXACT fix for our noisy dryer. Your goal was to save people some cash if they didn't mind a DIY and you did just that! Got a quote for $95 for repair tech just to come to the door, I don't want to know how much it would have cost me to have fixed, and that's assuming the tech who would have come out didn't try to upsell me a blower. Thank you VERY MUCH for your awesome post!!!

We had that same rumble on a less-than-3-year-old dryer. No sock ingested, but lots of lint clumps had gotten past the that poorly designed filter unit (which we clean *every* time). We didn’t have to disassemble the dryer, but were able to reach into the blower housing after removing the filter unit, and pull out lint clumps with fingers and a thin vacuum hose. Rumble gone. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

    You are a Magician.
I found a sock in blower housing..!!
My Electrolux dryer started making noise and its only a year old.
I googled about this problem and your video popped.
I show your video n first i thought its too complicated to open it n will call a service guy.
But before i call for service, i decided to just remove the lint catcher n look at the blower, and when looked with my cell phone torch there i found my kids sock there. I Unplugged the dryer and tried to pull the sock as it was stuck in blower. It was hard for me but my kid has skinny hands and she nicely pull it out.
I started the Dryer and guess what...The Noise is gone...!!
    😀😀😀😀😀
Thank you so much...you saved my time and a costly service call.

That was exactly the problem, we removed about half a pound of lint from the blower fan. Thank you very much for this helpful video. The problem must have been developing for some time without anyone really noticing until the dryer started to shake the walls loose in the utility room. We're off grid in the wilderness and have very hard water, so the lint can be tuff. We'll have to do this maintenance every couple of years. This place is an hour from the nearest small town, so there aren't any appliance techs who will make the trip. You saved the day for sure.

Thanks for posting the video! It helped us identify the issue since our machine was making the same noise. However, we avoided removing the front and top panels. Simply removing 4 screws that hold the lint clam shell (the piece the filter slides into), gave us enough access to get to the blower motor, remove a ton of lint, and resolve the issue. Might save some time and effort for some.

Thank you for making this video. I can't believe that this was the only thing wrong with my dryer, it was so incredibly loud, and started shaking recently too. It was only lint in mine, but probably twice as much as you removed from this one.

Thank you Scott! It was exactly the problem. I found a dryer sheet in the blower. When I put back together, I received an E-91error code. I took the front door off and saw that I did not plug in the top harness all the way. Plugged in-put back together. In business, no more rattle. Excellent!

Omg thank you so much. You just saved me so much time, stress, and money. I took out the lint trap and was able to see the end of a sock sticking out of the blower. This definitely solves the age old question of whether dryers do in fact eat our socks.

It worked like a charm. Lots of lint through all the blades. However, this looks like a deficiency for this dryer. I've had LG's where I simply clean the lint screen and don't have this problem. Surprisingly the dryer vent hose wasn't that bad.

Thank you for this video! My Electrolux dryer started making the same sound as the one in the beginning of your video and cleaning out the blower motor in fact solved my issue and the dryer sounds like it's new again. I will note, I did not find a sock or anything like that in my motor, however, there was a TON of lint covering all the blower blades which must just happen with the design of this dryer even cleaning out the lint trap religiously. Thanks again!

You really saved us waiting 2 weeks for the repair guy and a nice bill (I'm sure). We had the same noise, but ours was much louder and sorry to say but we didn't think this would work for us. HOWEVER, it works like new now after cleaning out the blower section thing. The dryer is not really that hard to take apart, but when putting it back together, needed to hold the sides together a little to get the front panel to align properly. THANK YOU!!!!

Great video! SHORTCUT - if you remove the lint plastic cover with the four screws, I was able to fit a vacuum cleaner nozzle in the opening and suck out all that lint from the blower, just keep spinning the fan slowly and clean until lint is gone, you have just enough line of sight to see and get it done. Vibration gone!

Thank you for posting. This was super helpful and spot on. No sock but the blower impeller was jam packed with lint and we clean the filter after every load. This is obviously a defect in the lint filtration My dryer is only two years old! Thank you for this video. I can't help but think this is a design flaw. My dryer started getting loud after less than 2 years of relatively light use. It got really noisy recently and following the instructions in this video I found only lint, hair and a bit of thick thread. We use and clean the lint screen with every load. Why would so much lint build up in the blower?

    • @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance

Another satisfied viewer here. I felt good right away when he demonstrated the sound. Was an exact match to our Electrolux dryer. No sock in our blower, just a metric ton of lint. The buildup was unbelievable. You mention a new "new filter housing available from Electrolux" in a response from 9 months ago. Can you provide a link or part number for the new filter housing? Seems it must be related to the entire filter mechanism as simply too darn much lint is getting through.

Just finished this project, also replaced the lint screen and grill assy with the improved version. Important note: I found a TON of lint in the exhaust duct below the blower housing, enough to reduce airflow significantly. Most of it could be vacuumed out be removing the exhaust connection in the rear, but honestly I still think its a good idea to do what was done in this video and get the lint out of the blower housing too. Thanks again!

I have one that's making a rumbling noise after replacing the rollers part of the noise went away the blower fan turned easily so I put it back together and thought maybe the tensioner so I disconnected the tensioner and belt and it still made the sound so I'm thinking the motor is bad

      Hi Tim,
I think the blower vanes are full of lint.
      It’s pretty easy to clean.

Actually the blower was cracked which was causing the noise. Unfortunately the motor and blower were one unit and would not have been worth it to replace so I trashed the dryer.

Ugh i wish it was a quick and easy 5 minute fix. Looks more like a Sunday 6 pack project. I'm having the same issue and i know it's gotta be the lint.... There's gotta be a way to fix the gasket on the lint screen right???? To prevent from having to do this constantly

Once cleaned out, has anyone found a way to prevent this build up from happening so this is not a recurring issue?

These Electrolux dryers constantly fill up with lint in the blower housing. It's a 2x a year tear apart.

Hello Scott, so my dad and I did your exact steps and we reassembled everything back to place. So now it turns on but when we hit Start, it doesn’t do anything besides beep 3 times. Any suggestions on what we need to do?
