Thank you 💛 I've come to this conclusion myself, but it's a relief to hear someone qualified supports this approach and expands on it.

What can have happened is functional freeze when the inner being is continually frozen. You can still function but your true self is frozen. This means that your nervous system is continually switched on . A real requirement is to switch on your relaxation response. Diaphragmatic breathing is the key to doing this. This will take continuous effort to reprogram your nervous system. You will start releasing the stress inside you and give your nervous system a well deserved rest.

Thank you for sharing this insightful perspective! You're absolutely right that functional freeze can feel like the nervous system is constantly "on," keeping the true self stuck in survival mode. Diaphragmatic breathing is indeed a powerful way to engage the parasympathetic nervous system and activate the relaxation response-it’s such a grounding practice.
What’s fascinating is how neurofeedback complements this process. Neurofeedback, especially with the NeurOptimal system we use, works by giving the brain real-time feedback about its activity, helping it learn to release patterns of chronic stress and move toward a more balanced state naturally. This can be a game-changer for those feeling stuck, as it supports the brain in unwinding from deeply ingrained freeze patterns without needing conscious effort.
Your input here is a great reminder of how interconnected our nervous system, body, and mind are. 💛
