Rum pločica is Croatian chocolate bar, Until now, as in the video, you haven't tried Slovenian food. Go to the center across three bridges to Klobasarna for Jota, sausages and Štrukli of different flavors. Welcome and enjoy Slovenia.
Ahh, thank you for the insight. I tried one piece of Štrukli and it was amazing. I need to try the sausages though. That sounds quite tasty. Cheers for the recommendations 🎉!
@@LifewithAaronArnold also Rum ploscica literally means rum (as in alcohol) bar. It has a slight hint of rum. For us it's a bite of nostalgia since it's been on the market for decades. But it's totally understandable it's not what you'd expect from a chocolate bar. :D
Try frutabela. That is the Slovenian candy bar. Try one with white chocolate. Cocta is amazing. it's based on herbal extract, and it's much healthier than Coca-Cola.
Try also Šumi candy, Sola ledeni caj(ice tea), Gorenjka chocolate, Pingo Juice and ofcourse dont forget Smoki(not slovenian though but embeded inour culture 😂- i dare you if you can eat only one 😂😂
Fructal brand, carrot juice in a glass bottle. Idrijski žlikrofi, in fridge, just boil in water. Planika butter. Trust me. Šipek čaj tea. Graham žemlja. Pehtranova potica on Rožnik hill in Lj. Or in Mostec Lj. Ajdovi žganci. Regrat salad (seasonal). Maybe Čokolino. Tolminski sir. Kraški pršut. Natureta brand whatever. Just skip that rum ploščica. 😊
For the real Slovenian food experience you should try dödöli (Eastern Slovenian food, the best place to try it is the restaurant Güjžina near Murska Sobota), prleška gibanica, prekmurska gibanica, blejska kremšnita (in Bled), celjska kremšnita (Stari pisker in Celje), jota, ričet, mushroom soup with ajdovi žganci, skutni štruklji (the version with white flour and buckwheat flour). And for general Balkan experience čevapi with kajmak and marmelada, burek!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for this incredibly detailed list of suggestions. I plan to do a video on more of the traditional foods. Hopefully, I can have some of these and give you a shoutout. Thank you so much!!
Well, you are new here ... But let me tell you that you walk, shop and eat at the most expencive and tourist oriented spots. You should go to Šiška, Bežigrad, Vič ... Ljubljana is not only Center and Slovenia is more than Ljubljana, Bled, Bohinj, Postojna ... Maybe go to Škofja Loka by bus, to Rašica - also by bus, go walking on PST etc. For more information just google it.
@@LifewithAaronArnold I love pizza burek and cheese burek from Olimpija. But some commentators will say (and be very opinionated about it) that pizza burek is not a real burek. Maybe not something you get in Bosnia, but its something very common in Slovenia. And I think that the most tasty one
Everything you eat and drink in Slovenia is much better than the crap you get in the USA. Less sugar, no artificial additives, flavor enhancers or hormones in the meat. In Europe Fanta is also made with orange juice and not with artificial flavors.
Welcome to our small chicken in europe that Slovenia is! If you like food in the city you should really go a bit out and try homemade stuff but if you like pizza's like me you should really try Pizzeria Siciliana in Dragomer maybe 15 min drive outside the city 20-25 min from city centre you will be supprised how good and cheap is outside the capital. Bon apetit ;)
I see others recommending it too, the Gostilna Sokol that was great I enjoyed it. The weather does look perfect. I didn't make it to Tivoli park not enough time to do it all 😀
Ahhh, the next time you visit. You’ll have to take a nice walk through Tivoli! I went to Gostilna Sokol it was wonderful. Thank you very much for the recommendation!!
Nice videos Aaron. For the real Slovenian food You can go to some places in Ljubljana; Gostilna Sokol and Klobasarna comes to mind that tourists always praises, but they aren't good. Not bad mind You, just not truly authentic or good. For that You would need to go out of the city in some village "Gostilna" Fast food - If You are brave enough, You could try Horse Burger in Tivoli park but if not go to Stara Pumpa in Šentvid - NW part of the city. For the best pizza in the city if not in the entire Slovenia go to Pizzeria Peruzza in Rudnik, SE part. But be warned You will most likely need a reservation or have to wait as it is very popular. You should also try krof, which translates as doughnut. Try it at Slaščičarna Rašica in Črnuče, N part of the city. There is a festival/holiday in March called Pust that I will let You find out about it all by Yourself. It's traditional to have a krof on those days.
Thank you so much for so many amazing recommendations. I went to Gostilna Sokol tonight. It was great! I will definitely give you a shoutout when I publish the traditional foods video!
Actually none of the food you ate is Slovenian. Maybe that blueberry pie. Candy bar is Croatian (I think, not sure about that), kebab is Turkish. Love it too, but sorry, not Slovenian. ;) How do you like living in the city so far?
Haha very interesting! Everything is new to me! Where do you recommend I go? What do you recommend I try? The city has been amazing! I absolutely love it!
@@LifewithAaronArnold Also... there is Christmas soon. Mulled wine and potica (sweet) are typical for this time of year. ;) Just wait for the stands - usually in the start of December. You won't miss them, they are in the old part of the town. Also maybe you can still find some stands of roasted chestnuts in the city. That one is typical for autumn.
Haha yeahhh, I should’ve explained better. I was just doing a normal day of eating tour. The video I posted this week truly was Slovenian food. I hope you had a chance to see it. Cheers!
You should go outside of touristy area and try some real food. Also, Slovenia is really small so hop on a train and explore a bit. You’ll find a lot of amazing food. So true, the food quality here is great. I need to try Fanta. I’ve heard it is much better here, because of the real orange juice.

I agree but the most traditional food is in the countryside, far away from cities in random family owned restaurants. Usually on hills or mountains.
It's not even Croatian. Mostly of "Balkan cuisine" is from Turkey. {Ottoman "heritage"}. 😊
Cockta is not the Slovenian version of Coca-Cola. It's a completely different drink and it's way better than Coke.
Yeah, I would agree it’s much different. I think I prefer it actually!
you didnt try anything slovenian traditional. try štruklji, kranjska klobasa, blejska kremšnita or frutabella candy bar.
