Not is the case with a movie, where you don't have an 'old' type of gameplay ( in this case the tank controls in the original RE 2) that makes the experience harder to enjoy. if you go to see Toy Story 1, it's still perfectly enjoyable, and remaking it would not only make the original "obsolete", but also wouldn't be more than a simple cashgrab like the remake of The Lion King. Toy Story 4 is perfectly valid for comparing how much animation has improved between these years.

PSA: Animators are responsible for the character performance only. If you want to refer to the other artists at Pixar (the ones creating realistic fur, water, lighting, etc) you can use the term VFX artist, or TD (technical director).
im just amazed at how solid their earlier movies are, they knew their limitations and created a limited but solid and consistent look. sometimes its not about having state of the art tech but in knowing how to apply what you've got on a vision of suitable scale, they still look a hundred times better than lumination studios
Yeah, it's a great movie. Though I remember it looking on the level of Toy Story 2, but that was just my memory seeing things as better because there wasn't much to compare it to.
As a 3d animator, i think it was because the software they had wasn't as powerful at the time, having low quality textures was very common but it was still iconic due to how impressive the quality of animation was back in the 90's, at the time, 3d animated movies were still unorthodox
I think this video underestimates the rain scene. The cat was amazing of course -- but when the movie starts, the rain drops looks so real that it was mind-blowing.
exactly. at first i thought those scenes are real until i deeply look at the house then realised that's animated. i just amazed by that. also the chandelier light scene in the antique shop. i just love it.
And imagine that there were 11 and 9 years in between Toy Story 2 and 3 and 3 and 4. If Toy Story 5 were to happen and they took that lonh, I’ll be almost 40 y/o 🙀
@@ToraydoBull Actually Pixar movies don't really take that long to make, according to Tom Hanks it takes 4 and a half years to make one movie, the reason why they take so long to come out is because they're working on other movies at the same time and they have to get those out before Toy Story.
I guess it wasn't as big of a challenge. He didn't talk about Violet's long hair in the Incredibles, but I'd bet that was a bigger challenge back then than Merida's curly hair
It’s _definitely_ not underrated. I don’t know where you heard that, but it was one of the most popular movies of the year. Also because of the scenery and animation.
Tomato Brian Coco was NOT underrated. It was critically and commercially acclaimed for its art style and animation, and is considered one of the most respected animated films of all time.
I guess it may be due to where I'm from, but in my country, Coco was truly underrated. So I just wanted to highlight that it's just my opinion and y'all have valid points as well.
Architectural surfaces and furniture were vastly improved. The way Evelyn and other characters moved, sat, and stood was more life-like than previous films as well. The biggest achievement was probably the lighting though.
Pixar POURS so much love into their projects. The physics research, water, rain, people animated, and clumping hair, is all so important to how their movies stand out from other animation studios. I loved all the toy stories, Incredibles, finding Nemo, and more... It's insane how much they love their job.
Obviously Pixar pushes graphics faster than videogames, they are not only not being constantly put back by consoles limits, but they have hours to render every single frame, when a game has to render several frames per second. Still, they've been pulling pretty impressive effects. Even when a good dinosaur is a so-so movie, it pushed photo realism to another level for pixar
I have a new found respect for animators. It was my dream to be one someday but I realized how patient I would have to be make these. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks said it takes 4 or sometimes 8 years just to make their movies and it makes sense see as how they manage to get to much detail in each character.
I never forgot being 7 years old and seeing Toy Story 1 for the first time, I had spent my childhood watching 2D Animation so my mind was blown, I really thought the Animation was magic. People today most likely think that animation sucks but back in the 90s it was a breathtaking and groundbreaking.
Wrong, I personally know one of the animators and he was a former police officer at Fort Worth Texas and now he’s one at Pixar and has worked on Toy Story 4 and the Incredibles 2 also Coco. So no you just need experience and effort
Animators don't have to be good at everything- they don't do everything. They make things move, and that's it. Other departments handle everything else.
Two things 1. The scene with the fluffy toys attacking the grandma was so unexpected it made me laugh until I couldnt breath 2. The ending felt a tad rushed but was an ok ending in my opinion
Forky being a spork reminded me of the funny moment in Wall-e where he finds a spork and is trying to decide to put it with the forks or spoons and ends up putting it in the middle.
That cat is surreal and Bo Peep's new look is hella 🔥 But the best thing about the movie is the ending. As a 90's kid, I never thought I developed a deep connection in the Toy Story franchise. The parting scene was so emotional..

PSA: Animators are responsible for the character performance only. If you want to refer to the other artists at Pixar (the ones creating realistic fur, water, lighting, etc) you can use the term VFX artist, or TD (technical director).
Alexander Curtis yeah, the guy in the video made it seem like the animators do everything
I know right?! Surprising that the creators of the video would put so much time into researching this video but get the main term wrong (headshake)
This bothered me so much.
Yes I picked up on it aswell very irritating
This is a common misconception and I hate it so much. The animators animate. They make things move. That is their one and only job.
This just made me appreciate Pixar that much more
im just amazed at how solid their earlier movies are, they knew their limitations and created a limited but solid and consistent look. sometimes its not about having state of the art tech but in knowing how to apply what you've got on a vision of suitable scale, they still look a hundred times better than lumination studios

But you have to remember it was ground breaking and amazing back in 1995 :)
As a 3d animator, i think it was because the software they had wasn't as powerful at the time, having low quality textures was very common but it was still iconic due to how impressive the quality of animation was back in the 90's, at the time, 3d animated movies were still unorthodox
I like how Bo looked like in the first film, it has realistic features of a real porcelain figurine. Especially the eyes.
Bo in the first two movies soft spoken voice and sweet look just makes you want to hug her. She isn’t nearly as sexy in TS4.
honestly finding nemo is so impressive, like the cgi still looks beautiful watching today
It really does! The animation holds up better than even the following few Pixar films after that!
Wall-E too
I think this video underestimates the rain scene. The cat was amazing of course -- but when the movie starts, the rain drops looks so real that it was mind-blowing.
I believe they were not allowed to reveal that scene. But it was indeed awesome though.
The whole movie is CG.
It was so real that I thought I entered the Anabelle hall

I'm just surprised that Toy Story 1 came out in 1995. It was just that long ago.
And imagine that there were 11 and 9 years in between Toy Story 2 and 3 and 3 and 4. If Toy Story 5 were to happen and they took that lonh, I’ll be almost 40 y/o 🙀
ToraydoBull Honestly that is crazy. I was 8 years old when the first one came out. I’m now 31 years old almost 32. What the heck!
I remeber seeing it in theaters at 8 years old.
@@ToraydoBull Actually Pixar movies don't really take that long to make, according to Tom Hanks it takes 4 and a half years to make one movie, the reason why they take so long to come out is because they're working on other movies at the same time and they have to get those out before Toy Story.

Just wanted to highlight Coco’s beautiful graphics, cause it’s too underrated and the whole movie was gorgeous.

I swear the animation in toy story 4 is just too good.
Pixar POURS so much love into their projects. The physics research, water, rain, people animated, and clumping hair, is all so important to how their movies stand out from other animation studios.
I loved all the toy stories, Incredibles, finding Nemo, and more... It's insane how much they love their job.
they are like Ghibli with the good ol' American money-making strategy
toy story 1 is what video game graphics looked it in 2009 and that’s amazing
Yeah video game graphics were hard to master
The detail in toy story 1 & 2 was insane for the time, the bag rollers in toy story 2 actually moved.
