SCALLOPING in Florida | How to Catch, Clean, & Cook SCALLOPS (Grilled Scallops)

- In this video, I went scalloping for the first time in Pasco County, Florida. In Pasco, the season opened on the third Friday in July and lasted 10 days. Even though it's a shorter season than around Homosassa or Crystal River, the scallops were everywhere and easy to catch! I discuss tips and ticks I learned to catch scallops, the best way we found to shuck or clean scallops, and also a simple recipe to cook scallops on the grill on the half shell.

CATCH CLEAN COOK thank you! Awesome episode...different but really good!!
what a great time I can't believe I still haven't done this😅 thanks for sharing 👊 tight lines
My wife and I went out in the gheenoe the last weekend it was open and limited out in an hour! So much fun! Great video dude!
We went 7 of the 10 days in Pasco and limited out (10 gallons) in about 90 mins everyday. This was the best year I have seen since it was reinstated 4 years ago. I have several pounds of clean scallop meat in the freezer. We do blacked scallop tacos, and several types of seasoned ones on the half shell. We usually keep the white shells since they are cleaner and those Orange ones we call Easter eggs and save for the kids to do crafts with. I also modified those mesh bags with an easy access opening that allows you to put the scallops in without looking and fumbling for the draw string and added a carabiner to clip onto my swimsuit string. This frees up my hands and arms for swimming and grabbing those tasty scallops. Next year we will add a zipper to the bottom to make it easier and faster to dump them out.
7:30 Just a quick suggestion for cleaning .... when you make that initial scrape on the shell, scrape it off the dark side as that side is a lot flatter whereas the lighter side is more concave. If you make that initial scrape of meat off the dark side of the scallop it is easier to make sure you don't miss any meat! I kayaked out to Pasco 3 days this season for only a mile and got my limit every day in 3-5 feet of water in under an hour it was awesome! Would just limit then go to an island with my buddy crack some cold ones have lunch and shuck our scallops. Cheers man!

I appreciate all of you 👍
Love your videos man. Haven't really seen them since you changed the name. I can see a huge improvement in your production
Those ribeyes are massive and the scallops are so sweet
Thanks! Perfect timing, I’m going for the first time on Sunday!
Good luck!
great video as always. Put ice down in bottom of cooler then a thin layer of towels, they open up much better with just cold air, if dipped in ice they shut close. Also try grapefruit knife for cleaning. Been scalloping since 1979 jmo
Excellent video. I need to get out and try this sometime!
loved this video
Good video
Looks good Brent. If it's possible could you doa fresh water catch and cook. I know you live in Florida but I'm not sure where you could go. Looking forward to the next video. Have a great weekend sir
Nice catch clean and cook. How were the scallops?
What ramps do people use to do it in pasco
How far off shore do you have to go to find them? I would love to do this someday.
Good episode. Always enjoy watching your videos. Just a little FYI those full face masks are for googans. Get yourself a good mask, snorkel and pair of fins and you will enjoy scalloping a lot more. Keep the good content coming!
Looks like lots of fun. I've always wanted to try it.
It’s a great time! I’d highly recommend
I recommend using normal masks, they equalize better, helps you not hurt your self, the full face masks are good but not for 10+ ft of water, nice vid! Taking salt walker scalloping! Love the channel!
