@@Paola-jf2qf there's no excuse for her not saving money over a nine year period. Rent/ mortgage is the biggest expense for most people and she didn't have it.
Okay that may be true but she is a single mother with children wow we dont know her full story have a heart people! It didnt used to be like this people wanted better for one another.Just like it says in the bible in the last days men's hearts will grow cold for one another..they'll loose natural affection for one another..
The only time I've EVER had even close to that amount of money is when tax refunds come in, and I also don't have to pay rent. I also only make about $1,000 a mth and have 3 kids. It's no one's damn business what she's saved and what she hasn't. Maybe she did at one point and something came up. What a rude and judgemental comment!! @@amorrissey9264 Also, the house is in need of extensive repairs, and she'd have to get home-owners insurance and pay annual taxes. The cost of home-ownership seems endless.
I'm sure she was jobless when her employer went to jail and the company went other. The recession by it's very nature made it hard for ppl to find employment. Ppl with master degrees were taking jobs as maids. We don't know what this family had to endure
So for nearly 10 YEARS she was living rent-free and mortgage-free but she didn’t manage to save any sort of money? There’s no way she shouldn’t have been able to buy that house when it was only 7.5k
@Reerei Dia I find that very odd. The bank ended up selling to an investor in Singapore no less. Real estate and mortgage lending are shady. She never had a chance anyhow. A foreign bidder without money issues can swoop up anything. It happened to my friends apartment in Rio De Janeiro. She lives in Impanema Beach. Chinese investors buying up condos in her building. They have more money to blow.
Man that lady could have bought the house to own it and had it looking beautiful!!! No rent? 9 years sheesh! Unfortunately not everyone has the hustler mind set 🤦🏻♀️

This comment is dumb. After 9 years, do you think an abandon house is beautiful on its own? A house that size requires a lot of up keep and maintenance which is what she probably used the rent on. The interviewer was very condescending like many of these comments.
that is not how it works in life if you do not have the pressure of having to pay rent every month you would dave the money destine for rent saved no way 99% of the people would not have saved money
Yes... Not everyone has $7500 at their disposal. But... if she didn’t save anything, go to the bank and get a loan. My other question is.. If her boss went to jail, where was she working?
She will be lucky if it's not twice that a year. If she had saved a couple hundred a month all those yrs she could've bought the house, covered escrow, & had plenty to do all the repairs. I wonder if she could have fought back under squatter's rights?
Wth, couldn't pay 7500 to own the home outright after 9 yearsss of free rent? That's not a good ending. She goings to pay that in the first 8 months of the first year in rent.
No doubt! Rent is definitely not cheap, but owning your property outright and only having to pay property taxes or state taxes is MUCH cheaper. It's a shame she didn't save more money during that decade. If she wasn't working 40+ hours a week during that time then I hope she at least enjoyed it! Cuz a change is gonna come...

@fakeplasticbees Who's fault is it that she only makes $1,300 per month? I made less than that for a few year, then took some loans out and went for college and job training. Then I made more.
@fakeplasticbees Agreed. That's why job training is probably better for her. She could be a secretary, paralegal, electrician, plumber, network engineer, etc.
@@weho_brian idk how she could be in debt, she didn't take out a loan for the house and any medical bill like an ambulance ride or stitches which costs 5k can be paid within a year working at Mcdonald's. maybe a major surgery can put her in debt but I doubt she had one. 3 kids might have lowered her savings yet she had enough money to buy new appliances. those are not cheap
I am so confused. 🤔 You lived rent free for over 9 years and didn't save a minimum of $10K? She could have been saving so much money while living there. I'm not blaming her for staying there rent free (that's the company fault that hires her). I do, however blame her for not being more financially responsible.
The suicidal Indian Utilities and Maintenance usually come from Savings after you paid rent. That’s why some ppl struggle to pay them. If she worked she still should’ve had enough saved to buy that house after 9 years. $70-75 a month saved over them years could buy it for $7500.

That’s only what she told reporters, she clearly has a real estate background and knows the property value is complete crap. If she was going to purchase a house, she would purchase a nice one out of that probably abandon neighborhood. She can easily be lying. You never know, the Singapore owners could watch this and then boot her out if she says anything bad about the house in trended value. Better to just rent..
the amount of empty houses is insane here in America, I live in Detroit....I seen a homeless guy, fix basically a shell into a home he didnt have a job because he didnt have a address so he did this to get back on his feet. He borrow tools and neighbors donated dry wall, and fixtures for him. He got a job a few months ago and when to see if he could find out the history of the house and the city end up giving him the house and he looks happy....he told me he was on his last straw when he was living on the streets and took this gamble...cant say I blame him
I think that with run-down and forgotten properties if a homeless person with a motivated attitude- or even a few homeless roommates that can work together to fix it up want to do so-- they should have some kind of process to allow it, monitor improvements for safety, and maybe look in on them for the first year or so to make sure things are okay for them. I live in a neighborhood where furniture and all sorts of things are tossed out. Half the people i know got most of their furniture for free. There are also lots of surplus type places where you can get plumbing, electrical, etc. It wouldn't hurt a thing and it would help depressed neighborhoods. But it makes sense, so I doubt it will ever happen.
You cannot “make” money selling a home for which you do not hold the title. Additionally, if she did not report the housing as part of her income, she committed tax fraud.
It's like a building a home and getting too comfortable. And now you got to worry about the people outside that want to get into your house.. her story just reminds me of Eve and being f***** by the snake, forcibly... You know the snake wants his money..
One would think after 9 years of no incident they wouldn't need to set aside large amounts of money. The 7500 may have been out of her budget, she did try to buy it twice, but the last time they made the price higher than she could afford...
So she KNEW that she could be kicked out any day of that house, still had family, still she never saved money for the inevitable and 9 years rent free she still can't pay $7,500 for the house? ... That's $70 a month, wow
Ok lets be clear on this Christopher, she first was "homeless" and started living free there before even having children, some things in life need to be done before the others, like having your own roof over your head before bringing new life to this world.
Unfortunately , We have these type people that don't really try to better them selves , She said she was scared but she wasn't that scared or she would have had money saved , she's probably paying 70 or $ 80 ,0000.00 for the house now oppose to the $ 7,500.00 she could've paid cash,
The problem is that she lived rent free for 9 years then when offered under $8,000 to buy the house which was just the taxes that were owed she didn't have it so you would think after 9 years of no rent she would have saved up enough to buy a much nicer house. Even if she saved only $100 a month she would have $108,000 wtf is wrong with this lady for real if I was given that long rent free I'd have a lot of money saved.
Ok for the haters im sure you all would call city government and let them know u not paying rent and offer to make a payment right..she was following the last instructions that were given to her by the owners of the house
Not a hater, just a wonderer...like why she was not saving any money? The opportunity given her was squandered. I have no problem with her ability to live rent free, but I do with her not planning for AFTER this good fortune ran out. Teach a man to fish...teach a woman to save! It was obvious she had no plan in place and was waiting for another break to come her way. As a mother she NEEDS to be proactive, not homeless!
Honesty, God was blessing her, but God was probably also saying.. "I'm giving you virtually a DECADE to save up and get your life together.. because I know you need it." ...which she obviously did NOT do.
yeah I dont blame her.. like she saw her chance and she took it..plus she has kids. If I had kids and had the opportunity to live somewhere for free, I would most certainly take it. Kids are really expensive and so are houses & if I had the chance to only pay 1, I would be in money saving heaven 😂😂
Plus if she had filed taxes and her daughter was her dependent, within 9 years she could of received way more than the 7000 for that house in her tax check.
I'm disappointed that after almost 10 years of living for free she doesn't have at least $7,000 saved up. If you live free for almost ten years you should use that as a stepping stone.

It just bothered me that this lady was trying to play it off like it's nothing. -"Did any of it seem too good to be true?" -"No" -"But that's not how the world works" -"It's just an incredible circumstance"-- AKA the definition of too good to be true.
Because she knows, that nobody should have to pay to live on the planet they were born into. You can't leave, if you don't agree, can ya? Sooo...you either pay or what? Die?
Oh mercy. I would have felt to bad to miss out on the opportunity to have the home purchased for ONLY $7500 after I didn't have to pay rent for 9 years and then knowing that a company purchased it and then I would have to pay rent when I could have just paid the $7500 and continued living in it rent free for the rest of my life. This story is a good lesson that teaches us to save so that we can afford to seize the moment for investment. Sigh. I feel bad about her not being able to afford to purchase this house.
Yeah I don’t understand how she didn’t have $7500 to buy the house. To be frank she’s too damn old to not be saving money or not to have a dime saved. And then when you look at the inside of the house she has furniture from the 90’s and dollar general lawn chairs. Like wtf?! Why couldn’t she even afford the repairs?! It’s ridiculous and makes no sense at all. 10 years that home should look a lot better than what it does. There’s people who pay $1000 or more a month for rent for a 3 bedroom home and still have nice furniture and cars. This is a major shame and disgrace.
Same thing happened to my parents, bought their house in 2001 and shortly after the mortgage company went under and owners went to jail and i grew up in that house with my parents not paying a dime in nearly 20 years.

As a single mother who was raised by upper middle class income earning professional parents who worked A LOT... Looking back, I have no doubt we were totally neglected. This was virtually normal back in my day... not all working parents were like this, but mine were definitely neglectful outside of providing a decent home and typical crap food with some vegetables every now and then... oh and braces. When I became a mother, I chose to do whatever I could do to spend time with my children and guide them, protect them, feed them, develop them etc. etc. They eat their vegetables and are basically well adjusted and are moving in good directions as young adults... well, my youngest is 17, but I am confident about him attending college and he has aspirations. No drug problems... just normal teenager boy issues, paying stupid tax every now and then. Every dime I made went to my kids or doing what needed to be done to maintain our home. I took every opportunity to work as little as possible for the purpose of providing my time for them and with them. I had just started to work full time again, then bam, my dad is on the verge of death and needs 24 hour care, so it will be some time before I work full time again. I am broke, and I lived rent free. I chose this. No regrets. Maybe her priorities were in the right place. It is all about what is important to you. To my parents, owning real estate was important, to me, giving my kids attention and helping them develop good habits is my priority.
Honey, I would have been putting away money EVERY pay period in anticipation for that moment they say "You need to start paying". I am glad she had a happy ending and wasn't thrown out on the street though.
What makes you think she had a "pay period"? I'm betting she is a welfare queen, on PA, not working and not look for a job either. Which means her "happy ending" is government assistance to pay the rent and she will STILL be living in that house for free - on the taxpayer's dime.
@TheJw1358 "Had" - past tense. She lost that job when her boss went to prison and the real estate company she worked for went under. She had/has kids - in one shot of her walking through the house there was a baby carrier sitting on the floor so who knows how many kids she really has living there. She's a welfare queen, pure and simple. That's how she pays the utilities and other expenses. Has kids to collect welfare with, no husband, gets food stamps and other government assistance that allows her to sit on her @$$ and let working taxpayers foot the bill for her life of leisure.
@TheJw1358 She's squatting in an abandoned house in Detroit with a bunch of kids and can't scratch up $7500 or a loan for that amount to buy the place outright, even after living there free and not paying rent for 9 years. I don't have to "assume" as it is obvious what the score is on this gal.

This happened to me as a REALTOR with a family at CHURCH! The home was going into foreclosure while they were renting. They were obligated to pay the landlord, the owners, but once they learned that the owners were going into foreclosure, they stopped paying because ‘we didn’t know who to pay.’ They are still in leadership at the church despite arbitration with more senior pastors who told them to right this wrong! They did NOT!
Those pastors get free handouts from people and never have to cry about money and never pay taxes. They have no concept of how society functions when you have to work for money and be at risk of losing it all. Especially with so many foreign investors doing land grabs. You just keep your mouth shut and do not say anything. As soon as some pencil pusher at the city gets notice to dig into that property, you can bet they will be gone instantly. You can only hope it will get buried in paperwork and not see the light of day. My city is only now demolishing abandoned houses that have sat over 20 years with nobody living in them. They never bothered to check if they were occupied this whole time and just let them go to waste until they were too far gone to save.

For real LOL
j r amen
j r would*
j r any bank would easily finance that, even for a bum
I had to stop and rewind just to know that I heard that correctly.
We don't know her financial circumstances during those 9 years. She was probably making just enough to pay for food and utilities etc. It doesn't seem she was living lavishly either, that's a clue things were still tight. It's a shame indeed she couldn't invest in the home for herself. But stop judging.
THANK YOU EVERYBODY ON THESE COMMENTS ACT LIKE THEY SOOO PERFECT AND SHE SHOULD OF HAD THE MONEY TO BUY...
Didn’t they say her boss went to jail for fraud, and that the company went out of business? Of course money was tight! Come on people!
Lani Anthony I agree..
Ned Bass I know seriously we should just kick you out of your house and give it to her because she lost her job.
Lani Anthony smart lady! I wish I had that situation like wow!woman is a genius!
There is no such thing as "forgotten house" because every inch of land is being taxed by the county.
She couldn't save $7500 in 9 years?
THATS WHAT IM SAYING🤦🏾♀️
Unbelievable
It's funny how everyone seems to know what she had to spent every month :)
Ya-Isha Cham- Oh please. Do the math. In order to save $7500 she only needed to put away $69 a month. That’s clearly possible considering she wasn’t paying a mortgage or utilities.
+Stella Simmons with GOD all things are possible
I can't fathom why she couldn't save or at least have enough assets to come up with 7500.00
Kids. My wife and I never had kids. It's amazing how much extra money you have each month when you don't have 3 kids to take care of. Ah, freedom!
Facts
You really don’t know what her expenses were. Don’t even waste your time speculating it’s not genius or helpful.
@@therealtampadude9175 I don't think not having kids its freedom .
@@therealtampadude9175 It's as if there isn't MASSIVE tax relief for people with kids.
Food stamps, and other welfare benefits. Along with no rent she should of had money just lying in wait.
To bad she lost out on a house for 7.5k lol. Now she has to pay rent aand pay that much every year.
The lucky get dumb, and the dumb never get smart.
9 years and no savings..sad...
That's what I was looking forward to. I thought she must have lots in savings but dang it got hard to watch
Tykita Boyd This is why black women have a net worth of $5. The thought process of the majority of black women is mind boggling.
Tykita Boyd very I mean that's not that much for a house.
Princess Layla I know I'm a Realtor.. shameful
This is true. That is why I taught myself about trading money and stocks. There is no excuse to live check to check.
Suppose she didn't save after living rent-free for nine years, shame on her. Imagine having a nine year's rent free? I would be rich. I have never lived anyplace rent-free.
So let me get this straight: she had the opportunity to purchase the house for $7,500 but declined??🤦🏾♂️
She didn't have the money. $7500 was to steep after 10yrs rent free?!
Yep, buy it and ya gotta pay taxes n insurance. Now imagine a plaque or war n the mass housing surplus-real estate investors would pay for tenants. For now landlords rape tenants where income is greater n supported by local government through higher property tax. Keeping income down an rent high yeilds more section 8 housing. Correct-government serves the minority rich through repression of the majority. Now you know why for every government representative there exist 6 lobbyist. Yep-for every dollar handed out for aid 8 has to be raised in taxes or borrowed. Now ya know why public debt is beyond control or ability to be paided without devaluing money through inflation. All of this has been made possible by the Feds since LBJ's "Great Society". This greed has transformed this nation from the world's police for peace into one of the most aggressive invaders . This explains why global hatred toward America gas grown.
.
Carlos Collins They xan give homeless people abonded homes an hotels while hiring people to fix them up at the same time.
Shes an idiot, now shes has to pay month which will eventually add up to $7500 lol
She didn't "decline" to purchase - she just didn't have that much to spend, so she couldn't purchase.
It's not really that hard to understand, is it?
I hope she was saving money that would've went to rent
ExtraOrdinary MUSIC She never saved any money if you watched the video.
That would have been the smart thing to do. She should know that that gravy train wasn't gonna run forever.
She didn't save since she can't afford 7500 for her hiuse
ExtraOrdinary MUSIC i doubt it
Ha!
It is a sin to have so many vacant homes in the United States and the world for that matter and then have all these homeless people that are willing to thrive and work to keep that dwelling. Good for her God bless her and I’m glad that her and her daughters were able to have a place rent-free because in this day and age I can barely keep my head above water and I understand her situation being a single father❤️
So true.
So true ,raising a family alone is not easy at all.i hope she will budget and realize shes all her children have.
John Walker on drugs?
Looks like someone forgot their Medes again.
Yes indeed
He wasn't really being condensing she was being stupid when she replied 'no' to it being too good to be true. I mean who gets to live rent free. Come on now.
She had free rent for 9 years, but thought $7,500 was too much to buy the house when it was auctioned off? Good luck ever finding a house so cheap. lol
@OnsoloT I miss the days when a one bedroom was five hundred dollars fifteen years ago.
OnsoloT You must live in one of them expensive cities because my rent for my one bedroom apartment is only $415
@Jay Kemme yeah, but he said he's paying $1750/month for rent and that lady had no rent. A kid doesn't cost THAT much.
Jay Kemme stop buying all those expensive church clothes and ya’ll been doing just fine. God doesn’t care how you dress.
Go to Detroit. Low as $100. No kidding.
It just bothered me that this lady was trying to play it off like it's nothing.
-"Did any of it seem too good to be true?"
-"No"
-"But that's not how the world works"
-"It's just an incredible circumstance"-- AKA the definition of too good to be true.
Lennon The Bunny obviously that is how the world works because she's in the world and that's how it worked
Thank you @lov3zone
Because she knows, that nobody should have to pay to live on the planet they were born into. You can't leave, if you don't agree, can ya? Sooo...you either pay or what? Die?
That's the way the world works in a recession. Plenty of people live in abandoned houses
It is not too good to be true, because it IS true. Not sure why you are bothered by that comment of all things a person could be bothered by.
I don't she was dumb thinking shed get away with it forever and not saving any money
"Is it too good to be true?" She says, "No" LOL
🤣🤣🤣
That was my favorite part!!!!
10 years rent free she should deffffff have the money to buy the house
7500 and you get the deed to the house maneee thats a steal
Wesley Brake that’s fantastic
Yeah I don’t understand how she didn’t have $7500 to buy the house. To be frank she’s too damn old to not be saving money or not to have a dime saved. And then when you look at the inside of the house she has furniture from the 90’s and dollar general lawn chairs. Like wtf?! Why couldn’t she even afford the repairs?! It’s ridiculous and makes no sense at all. 10 years that home should look a lot better than what it does. There’s people who pay $1000 or more a month for rent for a 3 bedroom home and still have nice furniture and cars. This is a major shame and disgrace.
@@brittanycee1184 So u mad at her

Same thing happened to my parents, bought their house in 2001 and shortly after the mortgage company went under and owners went to jail and i grew up in that house with my parents not paying a dime in nearly 20 years.
Shhhh keep quite🤫
Did YOU buy it yet???

Anthony Turner ikr? Understandable!
rajahn. BIG TIME!!!
Talking about that's not how things work. So he act like he owns this world or you got to pay for everything, this world was here before he was here

Lucky lady, she's been blessed more than once, good for her! 😊❤🙏
she wasn't blessed she stole.
Nine years rent free! An she couldn't afford to buy the home. Damn, where did all her money go?
Sun Fun I’m thinking the same thing
Remember she didn’t have a job when her boss went to jail or whatever so we don’t know how long it took her to find a new one or maybe healthcare bills. All we can do is presume..
She paid her utilities....and maintenance
Sun Fun drugs it looks like
As a single mother who was raised by upper middle class income earning professional parents who worked A LOT...
I’d have had so much money saved up that when they said “$7500” I’ll be like ohhh okkkkayyy! 💴🏃🏾♀️ then sitting on the sofa eating bon bons.
It's easy to say huh? Well the air you get every day is Free! How much have you saved?
Is this something you should be telling the news?
Muse Russell23 who snitched?
Same thing I said LMFBO
Muse Russell23 nope! I wonder why she told the news? If she knew they were going to make her start paying for rent. Man if I was her I wouldn’t tell nobody I would of lived in that home for 100year without paying rent!😎

I dnt think so for sum reason
Xzavier Payne no way if she did that 7500 is a steal
Xzavier Payne that exactly why she can’t afford it
What i don't understand is why she couldn't buy the home herself? Why was it always pulled off the market when she tried to buy the home?
Mz. Fluffy Tenacee my exact same question!! Why was the county pulling it off the market every time she went to buy it? Makes you wonder huh?
Mz. Fluffy Tenacee very good point some ppl dont listen name calling here and there as you said anyt8she want to purchase they pull it off the market
Mz. Fluffy Tenacee
GOD!!! He gave her a BLESSING!!!😀📿🕊💓
Mz. Fluffy Tenacee 🤔Come on now you know why!
Mz. Fluffy Tenacee she's full of crap bcse she said tried to buy it and they pulled it but yet she couldn't pay $7500. Also one reason they could have pulled it is they prefer or in some cases ppl buy a bulk of properties like 10 at a time and gives preference to them instead of ppl that will actually live in the community ...
I would have stayed too. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. I mean, if you think about it all she was doing was raising her family and doing the b st she could at the time. God bless her.
C B Lumpkin Thank u! I try to look at the bright side of this situation. At the end of the day she still has a place to call home. 😃
C B Lumpkin I was thinking the same thing.👍🏆💪✊
C B Lumpkin thats a dutch saying 😂 doesnt really fit in the english language
Because she had nothing to lose, but she didn't manage to better her or her child's situation in the slightest either.
I ABSOLUTELY love this story. The best part about it, is the BEAUTIFUL smiles on the owner's and her daughter's faces. My soul is laughing at how God protected her ALL these years. (Our ancestors looking down on US.) Many blessings for MANY more MIRACLES. (Go Singapore)
When GOD is looking out for you their are no ancestors. This whole ancestors thing is a concept taken from idolatry. GOD has no equals. He and HE alone reigns supreme!!!
Wait, what? $7500 and she couldn't snap that up after living rent free for years?
I would have grabbed that.
OnGodspath right!!! Get a loan or something

Cate S WHATTTTT di you even know how the housing market crashed
no its not a good ending and this woman is financially irresponsible you are telling me she got a free house and knew it could come to an end att any time and didn't save any money ever this puts her children at risk and something isn't adding up here she probably does have a savings and the house is in disrepair so she will move on to something better
Damn maybe she still ain’t have to pay rent if she would’ve kept her mouth closed
No. The house was bought by that Singapore company. Foreign companies/investors buying homes (even small apartment buildings, or entire trailer parks), and then renting them out, is Big Business.
Seriously, a freeloader for almost 10 years wasn't enough! talking about greed...
It was legit the colonists moving in and saying all we own this place we're just coming back to take it..

Dude sound like he upset that she lived rent free 10 years. It was a blessing!
Well the reporter probably didn't choose this story he was probably assigned to it.... and what do you say to a squatter? Congratulations on not being caught? She obviously knew she shouldn't be there because she constantly checked to see if the house was up for auction. If anything he is trying to understand the mentality. and why if she's lived there 9 years without paying a cent can she not afford 7500 dollars. I'm happy for people when they win something, or get a good deal.... but it just seems like this lady works the system and is a sneak. But I don't see the reporter as being upset. Skeptical, distrusting, yes, upset no.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see the biases, jealousy and scorn in how the interviewer relayed her story. Nearly all the commenters here have taken up where he left off - disdain and judgement.
He was😂😂
Thank you! The happy ending for them was the fact that she had to pay rent
Neena, that is not what you call a blessing, that is a squatter and stupid as heck if she does not have a penny to show for not paying rent for 9 years.
Damn where I’m living I would have saved millions.
I know. I would probably have my own real estate company.
Ikr I live in California would have a mansion by now
Exactly, I would be glad to move out of there after 9 years and move into something bigger and better
She could have saved some money in those 10 years to buy her own place.
Or at least a down payment
She should be thrown out into the streets for not saving a dime
You guys are so judgmental and have no full understanding of her story. C'mon...be happy for someone else. Maybe she has saved just not equivalent to 7,500. & Outside of rent she stil has bills, a kid, could be paying for medicines, tuition for her child, insurance and maybe settling for a job that goes along with her daughters school schedule. You a hater. You just mad because she lived in it for free and you probably haven't .
Yep..
I’m so glad for her, clearly no one needed or wanted the house. Yes!!
And how interesting that when she tried to buy it they pulled it out.
I’m so glad that this woman had the opportunity to raise her children In a safe place. Yes for the company that wants to keep her!! ❤️
