Not sure if this is the best place to ask but you've mentioned Divinity in some of the reactions and I'm aware of it as another Larian game but would you recommend it to people who love Baldurs Gate? I'm not sure what the differences or similarities would be.

Loving your playthrough - and cheering you on when you chose College of Swords, which is probably the most OP subclass in the entire game. I recommend arming yourself with two hand crossbows and two shortswords or scimitars, especially since you took Two Weapon Fighting - take the Sharpshooter feat at level 4 and you'll be pretty lethal!

definitely a good idea to have one person in the party who can cast Longstrider. if you cast it outside of combat, it doesn't cost a spell slot, so you can cast it on your entire party, and it lasts until long rest.

Yeah, I use sir Fuzzalump for that (and darkvision and mage armor for the party members who need it). Of course the Fuzz is a great potion brewer (when respecced for high wisdom and with the medicine skill), and from 5th level on his alchemist stone is nice, too. So many little buffs in the game, gotta love it.

33:01 When it comes to choose the Eldritch Invocations usually _Agonising Blast_ and _Repelling Blast_ are the first picks and no-brainers for your warlock build. _Eldritch Blast_ is a cantrip and Wyll can use it over and over again without using any spell slots. It is a ranged blast (18 m), and deals 1D10 damage (+Charisma Bonus if _Agonising Blast_ is chosen). From level 5-9 you can use two blasts at individual targets, level10+ gives you three blasts.
(like _Magic Missile_ - another good early game spell for wizards like Gale! Does less damage than eldritch blast but missiles _always_ hit!).
Boosting Eldritch Blast with _Agonising Blast_ adds your charisma bonus as a damage modifier and with _Repelling Blast_ your eldritch blast additionally pushes targets several meters back if they fail their saving throws (you can toggle this effect on/off if needed). Very useful if the targets are close to a chasm or a lava pit 😄
btw. _Hellish Rebuke_ is an excellent choice for a warlock spell! 👍
However, don't worry, everything can be fixed if you do not feel happy with past decisions!
You always can respec your character and companions later on, if you do not feel comfortable with their class or choices made, when leveling up.
Without spoilers, this service will be quite soon available for you and from that point on, the possibility to respec will be easy accessible and costs you only a small fee in gold.
There's also a "Magic Mirror" in camp, where you can change your appearance if wished. Race however cannot be changed ingame!

Hi, love to see you playing BG3, but here’s a little tip: I remember you changing one of Joey’s healing spells. What I want to point out is, among the two healing spells you originally possessed, there’s a difference between them.
One is “Healing someone you can see.” Another one is “Healing someone you can reach/touch”. The one that you are currently using is the latter one, and the first one is the one you abandoned.
Just a suggestion, but I think the first one may come to be more handy later when you try to heal your companion in battle! It’s a remote spell, in this way you don’t need to go all the way to another side of battlefield to heal them.
Wish you good luck on this grand adventure

    My advice is:
Use what your companions are good at, spells for Gale, close combat for laezel, bows for astarion (sneak attack when using bonus action hide first, hold shift to see enemy sight areas) buffs for shadowheart, etc
Ritual spells are VERY handy they use no spell slot and alot of them last until long rest, my favourite being longstrider and enhance leap/ speak with animals get an honourable mention
Ungroup and regroup party when needed- hot key for this is G
Speak to your companions often even without the ! They have a lot to say
Always use your movement and jump to reposition yourself during combat when necessary, I found using jump first then movement works best (unless you need for bonus action for action surge, healing/ other elixirs
After every long rest cast longstrider on all party members and any other ‘until long rest’ spells, including mage armour on Gale
Use Gale’s arcane recovery for spell slots
I LOVE how thoroughly you’re exploring this game ,it is a true joy but with a fairly steep learning curve and never feel bad for save scumming to get your preferred outcome for your first play through, you’d be surprised how much things change during the game due to choices youve made, go with your gut, there’s no wrong answers.
You’re a joy to watch, thank you ❤

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this to you yet, but the game makes it seem like you're in a hurry. You aren't. Take your time. There's a ton to see and explore. You'll see warning popups that will let you know crossing past that point will advance the story. As long as you don't move past those, you're fine. There are only a couple of timed things in the game and the grove and your tadpole aren't among them.

I hope you manage to keep Rolan alive all the way- not an easy thing to do, odds of getting unlucky there are vexingly big. But he is such a fun character, with such a (potentially) great story arc!
That said, out of all characters in Act 1, Auntie Ethel is my favourite, the writers and the voice actor (who also voices Gale's awesome cat) had way too much fun with her!
(Oh, and about Meli, the tiefling kid who stole that locket ("alledgedly", of course) has a bit of a tragic backstory, there's another locket somewhere in the Blighted Village, won't say too much about that, but... there's a reason why Meli would have stolen this particular locket, there's a different dialogue path in which he suggests that, and maybe halfway genuinely. Of course, most tiefling kids in the grove have been through misery. I hope that along the way you learn a bit about Doni's story, that one is all too easy to miss, and Doni won't talk about it- or about anything, really)

  • @TheAxel65
    @TheAxel65 3 дні тому +4

25:30 You can immediately teleport to camp if you need to access your travellers chest and teleport right back to the trader.
Advantage/Disadvantage: you always can see the reason for e.g. Disadvantage center screen underneath the HP bar of your targeted enemy.
You had Disadvantage on that Bugbear at 12:28 because you were still poisoned for one round.
speaking of Statuseffects: If you want to check for active status effects like poisoned, paralyzed, prone etc. check for little icons right next to your party's character portraits, hover over them and a tooltip provides further info on that effect.
And finally: What does this 1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 1d10 etc. exactly mean? BG3 is kinda of a Pen&Paper Table Top Simulation of classic D&D, so all decisions about failure or success, in combat or in dialoque are determined by dice rolls plus any modifiers set by the involved characters.
For example, 1d4 means a 4-sided dice will be rolled which can have a 1-4 result. 1d10 is accordingly a ten-sided dice with results of 1-10. So if Lae'zels Greatsword does 1d10+3 slashing damage with a Lacerate attack, it can be worst case 4 damage, best case 13 damage and on average 8-9 damage.

My genuine only tip here is this. Its something I see a lot of new players not fully experiencing the first time! Which is fine but can be avoided!
Camp as often as you can! I see a lot of people new to the game only go to camp to long rest, or when theyre critically ill! Obviously long resting when you visit is ideal, but theres day events too!
But you would be very surprised to learn just how many interactions there are that are super easy to miss. Theyre not like...super crucial always, but it really helps build a bond with your companions, and from a gameplay standpoint it is super engaging. Also A+ content fr.
But even if you miss some dont worry! the game is full of interactions in general! there will typically be very few times when there is not.
While I suggest you also swap out companions to 'get to know' everyone, remember its 100% okay to play favorites! Remember, you garner their approval with them being with you!
Im v interested in what romance route youre going to take

    Tips, if you need them:
There are two buttons under the character portraits: one with chains and one with a hood.
    1. The one with chains allows you to separate the squad so that they don't follow each other. The same effect can be achieved by pulling the portraits to the side. To connect the squad: press this button again or move the portraits closer to each other.
2.The one with the hood allows the entire squad to hide, and while you are hidden you can see the enemy's line of sight. (later in the game the situation should appear). The Hide action is very useful for rogues.

    Couple more tips for you:
Traders reset their wares ( and gold ) after a long rest, so buy up all the health potions you can, and after you long rest, buy more again. Aunty Ethel sells 3 giant hill strength potions each ( long rest ), so be sure to stock pile those, they put your strength up to 21 and last until a long rest ( or death ). But be sure to read all the potions, some override others, so be sure to look. So try if you can to leave aunty ethel til last.
If 2 or more of your party needs to take a potion, gather them as close together as possible and throw the health pot in the middle of everyone on the ground, it will heal all if thrown right. ( you can also throw potions at your downed party members to revive them ). You can disengage everyone and control them individually with either G or the icons under the portraits to the left. Control G does them all at once, and Control C crouches everyone at once.
AOE spells are pretty much a must in Tactician mode and higher, so make sure to utilise them.
You can expand your hot bar, with the Plus and Minus signs to the right of the hot bar. Needed as a lot of the time, you'll have more abilities and spells than room at the default hot bar level.
Push C to crouch, then you can see the line of sight of everyone. And from that, you pickpocket and see if theres an area you can lock pick chests where no one can see you. ( when you get more comfortable, you can talk to an npc and/or trader, then before you go to trade, go to select character, choose your pick pocketer, and pick their pocket while another character has them occupied. Just be aware that they will after a few seconds, realise they have been pick pocketed, and accuse anyone near by, so when you have stolen what you want, have that character run away so theres no evidence )

A tip for dealing with traps in the future. You can use stealth to your advantage to sneak by things like the guardian statues by hitting 'C' or the crouch button on your action bar. You can also go into turn based mode at any time by clicking on the hourglass at the end of the action bar next to your rest button. This will let you take a full set of moves and actions before a trap has a chance to activate or patrols move to new positions.

_Bless_ isn't very flashy, it doesn't directly damage enemies and doesn't directly heal allies, but it's one of the most useful spells in the game, especially in the early stages.
_Bless_ make three characters gain a +1d4 bonus to Attack Rolls and Saving Throws, this means that it becomes easier for your companions to hit while it becomes harder for enemies to hit your companions; and it lasts 10 turns, so once cast it will most likely continue to be effective for the entire battle.
    👍

you'll get the option to choose more eldritch invocations for warlocks at levels 5, 7, 9, and 12. if you decide to stick with wyll in your party, i highly recommend one of those invocations being agonizing blast, especially if you plan on making EB his main source of damage (particularly since you didn't take pact of the blade so his melee won't be that great). it makes a great deal of difference (although i guess you can always respec him earlier if you so choose).

At camp, you can spend 100 gold to change you or your companions stats (they go back to level 1 so you can change their class or level up decisions as well) using an NPC. I would recommend you change their starting stats, as they are not optimal by default, and all that changing them does is make them more effective (higher chance to hit, more damage, etc). I can provide the stat spreads if you want.
    You're doing great; keep learning!

Something important to keep in mind, there are two ways to proc Astarion's Sneak Attack.
Advantage, which you keep mentioning, is one of them but thats harder to do most of the time, especially without wasting someone else's action.
The much easier option is to have any other friendly within melee range of the target. Just have Lazel or whoever your frontline melee fighter is run up on the biggest target and take a swing. Then on Astarion's turn he can also run in or possibly use a ranged weapon and either can pop sneak attack for a big damage spike.

Your experience bar is at the top of your inventory screen. You leveled up Wyll & La'zael separately from the rest of the party because they had just joined it.
--When characters are resting in camp, they don't level up, but if you level up in the world & then ask them to join you later, they will level up at that time, so that the entire party is t the same level while active.
--You're missing out on your 'Advantage' Bonus on die rolls - 'Advantage' gives you the best result out of two dice. It's better than Guidance most of the time.
--Don't forget to take your short rests after a battle - it restores hit points (& some spells in some classes).
--If one of your party has the Longstrider spell, he/she can share it with the entire party (with no loss of spell slots).btw, occasionally a portrait will disappear; it's a game glitch, bu it will return eventually.
--I cast my light spell on my staff, so I can see in the dark.
I'm enjoying your run. I always find new responses/reactions from companions & npcs when I watch others' streams. It's pretty cool! :D

    Tips:
-Long resting is your friend, even though in tactician its 80 camp supplies to fully rest vs 40 on Balanced and below. But theres the 'partial rest' option that can work in a pinch or to get the camp cutscenes without the camp supply cost.
-Play to your characters strengths (like persuasion or deception for a bard), i roleplay it as they know what theyre good at and use it fully to their advantage
-Pick up everything to sell for gold (im a loot goblin); incense has a great weight to value ratio for instance
Have fun, though it already looks like you are! This is so much less chaotic than my first play through; i miss it so much

Super nice episode ! Gale and Wyll are also a lot in my group. (when they have something really important to say, they have an excalamtion mark on them but they may also have something to say about a situation of a place without having a mark)
    Still asking for tips ?
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
You can turn the tutorial you've got on the Nautiloid on again - you don't restart the Nautiloid, the pop-ups windows will appear according to the situation to remind you a suggested way to deal with a situation - you don't have to follow the tips if you find the suggestion doesn't fit the situation, just close the pop-up and do what you want.
Below the chain of portrait, they are 2 usefull buttons : Hide everyone and Ungroup (so they don't follow automatically the scout). Ungroup allow you also to place your companion tactically before an attack, otherwise they stay in a little pack of 4
You can switch in Turn Based Mode anytime by clicking the big hourglass button next the button to go to camp : it let you time to think a way to deal with a situation and find the item or the spell you whant to use in your action bar without being spamming by the lethal consequences of a mistep.
When you've casted Cloud of Dagger, it was a Concentration spell : it stays as long the caster keeps focus on the spell (or sometime 10 turns and as long the caster focus on the spell). If, at some point, you find the spell useless (because it prevent you to move in that direction or because the combat end and NPC may be hurted by the spell), you can stop focusing (it took me around 800 hour to discover it, because I've asked in a forum "isn't there a button somewhere to...?") The button is below your portrait at the left part of the action bar.
Every spells cost a spell slot to be casted but cantrip ...and "ritual" spells when casted out a combat (...No idea why).
Ritual spells have a green little star drawed in the description to help you to identify them : Feather fall, Long stridder, some minor summons are rituals spells (but if you use a scroll to cast a ritual spell, the scroll is still destroyed).
Some spell have an effect that last all day. You may think "I've casted the spell, I can remove it from my spells of the day and prepare another spell" : no. (I mean, yes, you can, but...)
If you remove Mage Armor from your spells of the day after you casted it on you, the spell will be "uncasted" and you will lose the Armor Mage.

Weirdly, I would suggest the opposite. If you KNOW you are definitely going to play through the game more than once, then it can be good to focus purely on 3 characters for the first playthrough, and the other 3 for the 2nd. Then you can have your 3rd playthrough as the completionist run, whereby you combine everything you've learned in the first two, which will both be quite significantly different. And the 3rd run will really shine a light on how much you actually missed out on the first 2 times. My first was Wyll, K******** & Shadowheart, and 2nd being Gale, Lae'Zael & Astarion.
For those that know, without spoiling anything, this meant that there were entire regions of the game I ignored on my first playthrough, because of the characters I left out, but it left easily 20-30 hours of completely brand new stuff (not just plot-branching - Brand spanking new) for my 2nd run. And the first run was still upwards of 80-100 hours. And yes, I still discovered a whole lot more variety in the 3rd run. And that's before doing the Dark Urge - lol.
One of the few "complaints" that tend to get brought up, is how Act 3 can feel somewhat disjointed and/or overwhelming. I think it's because the game is built with the 3 character focus in mind. There needed to be enough content in the end to make it still feel solid when focusing this way, so if you're trying to do all 6 (+ others), in one playthrough, without prior knowledge, I can understand where those complaints could be somewhat valid.
But hey, it's just my opinion, play the game how you wanna play the game. It's a masterpiece either way. You can't really go wrong - well..... you can, but that would be spoiler territory.

Love a good chat with animals, they have the best insight :D.
Little tutorial: Jumping is good, it costs 3m of your movement, but depending on STR you can get farther than that, so almost always jump if you want to make the distance. (Rogues with low strength can use bonus action Dash). The bonus action is worth it if your action is in range, your melee characters like that :). Also, you can jump out of and over dangerous surfaces (grease/ice/fire) instead of walking through. Your remaining movement is the blue circle around the end turn button.

    • @Theorak
      @Theorak 2 дні тому

The statues and goblins with backs to you should have been a sneak tutorial, but there is almost none: You can hide outside of combat already, with Shift + C even the whole party. Hiding costs an action (Rogues have again a bonus action for it) and also shows you enemy sight lines, but going turn based (Spacebar) allows you to avoid the sight lines. If a sneaking character is in sight, they have to roll Stealth each turn or come out of hiding, brightness can affect stealth rolls. Attacking from stealth gives advantage and might surprise the enemies. Astarion should be best at that, he also has the Rogue sneak attacks that work with advantage. Don't need to do it for every fight, but might be a nice bonus for those spots where you see the enemy first, and you need it to get into containers and doors marked red :)

For the other members of the party: if you want your bard to keep up martially go College of Swords, but Shadowheart doesn't work martially very well as a cleric and having Trickster as subclass, she should be using mostly spells (and for cantrip, use the sacred flame one)

You can always dual wield but both weapons need to be Light weapons (this includes scimitars, handaxes, light hammers, daggers, short swords and war picks). The two weapon fighting style just lets you add your ability modifier to the second hit (it is usually only applied to the first). If you wanna dual wield weapons that aren't Light weapon then I suggest taking the Dual Wielder feat. next level. That way you can do any weapons that aren't Two-Handed. Spear in one hand a rapier in the other etc. until then, it's just those few Light weapons.

So you can bring him back up with the Help Action or with healing (you can throw Healing Potions as a way to heal your friends). When you bring someone back, they have 1 hit point and no Action on their next round (just a Bonus Action usually used to drink a Healing Potion or get out of harm way). That should limit damage/ risk of getting caught. Also, when you're roaming around and you miss out on your companions' converasations, you can check the combat log on the right to read the dialogue you missed.

@greenmanjoe1 It's good that you've gone from DoS2 to BG3 first, trust me.
There are currently two cRPG games out there using the Pathfinder (1st edition) ruleset: Kingmaker, and Wrath of the Righteous. Both are good, but WotR is better - they were made by the same studio, Owlcat Games, and the guys were just more experienced making the 2nd one.
The PF 1st edition ruleset is derived from an older edition of DnD than the one you're playing. Some things will be familiar to you, but it's best to think of it as a slightly more complex and detailed ruleset than this one.
PF2e, the current edition of the rules for tabletop play, doesn't have a cRPG out yet. A kickstarter for one called The Dragon's Demand recently wrapped up, but that'll take a while and I've learned to wait & see with kickstarters.
I'm sure BG3 will occupy you for a LONG time though; in case you're not sick of cRPGs after, definitely take a look at PF: Wrath of the Righteous, watch some gameplay vids or reviews etc, see if it's up your alley.

nice video, and yeah thats why in every story, anime, or such, you need a tanker, someone who can boom boom, a healer, and a someone that can do talk and deception, i see you took a role as a talker one so you just need the rest.
But this is Baldur's Gate, we're talking, and every companion you have has pros and cons. That's why you need to swap them whenever they are needed, and there's no harm in that.
a little tips without spoiling anything.. if you want to stick with their class, then look at their class and focus as they intended to be. as the more story progress the harder the fights. and when I said their classes that means their skills, their passives, and their main attribute. you cant expect gale as a wizard whose main attribute is INT to shoot with arrows which the dmg determined from DEX instead just casting some spells. and yes spells with dmg is important but there are more spells that can help you survive the world, like spell that can teleport you to any position in combat, a spells that not heal but removes debuffs, a spells that open a locked chest, and more

Completely optional and I absolutely understand not wanting to do this, especially on the first playthrough, but there is actually a mod that allows you to adjust the party limit, so you never have to dismiss anyone and can have everyone with you, or as many as you like. Larian recently added the mod manager which you can see in the main menu, and it is SUPER easy to use, you literally just have to look through and download whichever ones you want. I don’t like going too crazy with the mods personally, but I do love the party limit adjusting one because I HATE missing out on dialogue/story. Only thing is it can make certain fights too easy so I try to just use a few party members in combat, keep the others far enough away that they don’t enter combat or dismiss them if I know there’s a fight coming up.
Also just a fun little thing, you can change the look of your dice with that little icon in the corner when you roll :) there’s also mods for that and some are super pretty but that’s fr just a bit of fun there’s absolutely no change outside of looks

1:28:37 Her health is fine but she's paralyzed, you'll have to get a spell or ability that can remove that. I think shadowheart may have a spell in there you can prepare ;3

I thoroughly enjoy you reading all the books aloud. I always tell myself I'll try to read everything in a new game and eventually give up :/

You mentioned the last battle taking so long, thats because you're on tactician mode. You can always change that if you want, even mid game. I started off on story mode then went to the regular mode once getting used to it and how to use weapons etc. Tactician would suck the fun out of it for me but then again im a newbie to this type of game. Bullet sponge type enemies aren't for me 😂.
P s- save scum as much as you want, sometimes you just need to with this game. I don't do it much but I always save just incase. F5 is my bestie

Enjoying your play through:) I've recently completed the game and I loved every frustrating step of it. I'm thinking of another run with different characters. Btw I kept the "gloves of power " for the whole game
