Have you tried playing with a controller? Some people don't like it. But I prefer it. It feels so much more immersive to me, especially for moving around the map. I played my first playthrough with the mouse and keyboard. But after I tried controller I won't go back. There are a few places where a mouse made finding hidden things easier, but they are very few. And just holding down A to search a whole area finds me way more secrets than clicking around ever did. And tapping the shoulder buttons to scroll all my abilities is easier for my ADHD brain to keep track of, rather than everything laid out at once. I played the first 2 baldurs gate games back in the day, and controller wasn't even an option, so I didn't think it would work as well as it does, or that I would like it so much
@@greenmanjoe1 I like to play BG3 on my laptop more than on my console. I prefer mouse and keybord more also in this game. 😊 How fun to see yet another video of this from you. 😊 Greetings from Finland again.
So refreshing to see a person who is willing to give Lae'zel a chance, most people on their first run assume she's an asshole through and through and miss out on one of the best characters in the game!
@@ANGRYWOLVERINE2060-ft2nc I can't pick the best one because honestly, it's the first time in a game where all of them are incredible in their own way. But I will absolutely agree that Lae'zel is up there, my second favourite as a matter of fact!
Idk if anyone has told you this yet btw but Shadowheart's build as a "trickster domain" clashes with her modifier, which is why she misses so much. Most people (and what I recommend) change her class to a "life domain" Cleric at Withers and use her as the main healer! Once she gets access to level 3 spells she becomes a heavy hitter too

Loved the episode! Great job finding Kahga’s chest, the info you got from it will be very useful. I totally missed it on my first playthrough. Great job beating the harpies, too-that’s a tough fight at this level. Some of the most satisfying wins are when the fight catches you by surprise and you think “this is it” but then you pull it together and beat them.
Shadowheart isn't broken. Her STR is middling so her melee hit chance and damage is pretty bad. Her firebolt is from her racial bonus and scales off of INT, not her WIS, her cleric main stat. Sacred Flame has its issues too since it has a DEX save to negate--- something that Act 1 enemies have a LOT of- especially goblins and those harpies. Guiding bolt is technically her best ranged attack since it uses her WIS in her spell attack. She gets much better spells in higher levels, especially the AoE ones. These spells don't miss, it just can only get resisted for half damage with a successful saving throw--- much better than a big fat zero.
I had that same reaction the first time I kicked the squirrel! I reloaded afterward though lol. The romances in this game are all amazing! I believe you can flirt in the beginning as much as you want, but will have to choose later. I'd love to do a playthrough for everyone, but I can't help choosing Astarion or Gale lol Love that you're taking time to talk to everyone!
Another great video. It's cool to watch you start figuring things out. The game does have useful info in tooltips and stuff, but it's definitely not the type of game to hold your hand. It's also the type of game that lets you do a lot more ....... nefarious things than other games would, as the squirrel taught you. The look on your face was an absolutely golden moment in the playthrough so far. As you said, you want to figure things out for yourself, but a few minor tips that are not obvious:- - 'Concentration'. There are a lot of spells that are listed as concentration spells - you can see it in their description. You can only ever have one of these active at a time, so if you cast another one it will replace it - as you saw with the Bless into Shield of Faith. This will happen a lot, to us all, so be ready for the many times you will want to swear at yourself for forgetting, and replacing one really cool spell with another. If you look at the bottom left of your hotbar, there will be an icon showing which spell you are concentrating on with that particular character, and a tiny little 'x' to the top right of that icon. This is how you can voluntarily turn the spell off early - useful for things like your Cloud of Daggers spell, if you want to remove it when the fight has ended, or if its more likely to harm you than your enemies. - Spellbook. You can open this for each character that uses magic, and select which spells they have active. They all know a lot more spells than they can currently choose from at any given time. These can be changed at any point outside of combat. Good habit to get into. In that regard, take a look at Shadowheart's list in particular, and read the description for 'Lesser Restoration'. I won't say more than that, because that might turn this into a spoiler rather than just a hint. - With regards your hotbar, you saw the + / - buttons and how they work. As you level up and get more spells and abilities, you will almost certainly want to have this as 4 rows instead of 2. There is also a little padlock icon so you can lock/unlock the hotbar. Very helpful to rearrange your abilities into certain groups of similar uses/levels. But this may only become more useful, the more comfortable you get with each characters toolkit. - Your comment regarding Shadowheart missing nearly every attack/spell is practically a meme at this point. This is because of her attribute points. Wisdom is her key stat for spells, and Strength is her key stat for melee attacks, and her STR is way too low to be useful. This can be changed at Withers (the skeleton dude). When you ask him to change your class, you can re-set the attribute points as part of that process. This can be useful for natural play, and is a key part of min-maxing strategies. Obviously I don't feel the need to recommend min-maxing, but its certainly worth a look, if not just to get a better feel for the mechanics of it. You can also pickpocket Withers afterwards with no consequence, if you feel like you don't want to waste the money - but if you're going to do that, I would recommedn switching to Astarion for it, he is much better at lockpicking and pickpocketing than any other character, so the skill checks are a lot easier to pass. If you are going to re-spec the characters, one useful tip is that it is only ever the even numbers in your attributes that make a difference, so having any of them at an odd value is literally a waste of attribute points. It is possible to change classes and builds in this way, and for a 2nd or 3rd playthrough, I would definitely recommend doing so, but for your first, its not a problem to stick with the default builds. There's obviously a ton more, but I think these would probably be the only ones I feel need mentioning at this point. Enjoy.

Wanted to say a good reason you could be missing lots is because the karmic die setting is on, it’s a setting that makes your dice rolls biased, the more good rolls then the more bad rolls it’ll force you to have and vice versa, making you miss over and over. Also with your spell casters, avoiding weapon attacks is ideal, of course with Joey it goes either way, bards are a very versatile class, every subclass lets them go any direction to being a martial bard etc. with Wyll for example, eldritch blast is your BEST friend and it’s one of the strongest spells in the game because it’s free to use, can strike multiple times and high damage for a cantrip.

26:10 things need to have the Light property in order to be dual wielded. There is a feat called Dual Wielder that remove that restriction and only gates off two-handed weapons. Every class gets a to pick a feat at levels 4, 8 and 12 (except fighter who get more at 6 and 10) so this means you’ll be able to dual wield rapiers next level up if you choose that ^v^
very impressive how your party handled the fight with harpies! I was struggling multiple times just on the balanced mode. can't wait for the next episode!
Healing word - the best healing spell. Its numbers aren't the biggest, but in battle it uses bonus action, which means you can heal and do something else cool the same turn.
If you ever get the dialogue option "continue" it's a bug. Quick save with F5 and load with F8 to fix the issue. "Continue" will always select the first option available without giving you the chance to see what it is.
@greenmanjoe1 : when you cast a Concentration spell like the Cloud of Dagger that hurts your companion and by chance doesn't kill the little tieflin kid, you can stop the spell anytime when it stops to be usefull : you have a little icon next your portrait in the action bar, with a little X - just clic on the icon to stop the concentration. I've searched for douzen of hour (...several hundred) how to do that and I don't know if I wouldn't be still looking if someone have not told me where it is.
@@lledelwin As much as I love the game letting you learn things for yourself I really feel like it could be a bit more helpful when it comes to things like this lol
@@greenmanjoe1 I totally agree, especially for Magic. It's not told in the tutorial, neither the pop-up or the page. Same for the ritual spells : every spells you see with a little green star in the description cost nothing to cast, as long they are not cast during a combat (...again, something I've learned after hundred of hours in the game)
Lae'zel is brusque & rough at first, but she gets better and is the equivalent of a tsundere soft egg. She acts out because she's been raised that way and yet is willing to work and offer the only solution she knows to you, someone she met by chance and barely knows, whilst being lost and having a death sentence hanging above head, as you've seen what the tadpole would do to you normally.
On my second play through I played an evil character. When I came across the squirrel and I was still taken aback when I chose "Kick her". How could we have guessed "Kick her" means "Kill her". And what a handsome man that NPC who found you lurking at 1:13:10, wish I could take him back to camp.
Love watching you encounter the characters as you go exploring. BG3 is like living out a fantasy novel. Maybe the portraits are a glitch or are they assuming you're doing an "evil run" because you kicked the squirrel? I've never seen that in any of my runs, but I have never (and will never) do an evil run. Any Durge players want to comment?
@@marthachlipala4538 The portraits have been like that from the start so I’m pretty sure it’s just a glitch. I’m definitely not planning on this being an evil playthrough (squirrel bashing aside)
The Shart problem. Shadowheart is a Cleric, that uses the main stat of wisdom. Unfortunately, Shart is a 1/2 elf that gives her a few racial spells that are based on 'intelligence", which Shart is not very well versed in. This causes those spells to miss more often than not.
You can hit hide with Astarion, (or with anyone, I guess, I just use him most for sneaky sneaky) you'll see the red areas, that's where someone can see you. You can actually just walk around that girl and hide, she can't see behind herself, and then you can open the chest.
sorry for late replay, and finally a video we're waiting for and its 1,5 hours long. I love it, I appreciate it. such a wonderful gameplay. i love when you start to understand each companions and how to treat them, I love it you roleplaying as good'ol bard that peace is an option to make even if you have to be deceptive or persuasive. i love it when you start to understand spells and discover how the game plays. Even to remember such small details. It means you're taking this gameplay as roleplaying and belive me, ppl will love your play. i agreed with you to not giving more tips as I can see you start to understand and discover how the game works. but regarding respect the class for you & companion isn't a bad idea, you can steal the money back from wither with mischievous astarion. and idk but if you feels like to know each class better, you can check bg3 class guide to understand them more on your free time. Overall, such and entertainment gameplay which makes me sad to wait for another days to come (gods it's start to feels like waiting anime weekly) *spoiler* Oh yeah 1 more thing, you can be multiple class.
i think the portraits have something to do with leveling up somewhere with low light. what i did was turn up the resolution settings super high and respec everyone affected with withers, i just picked the same class/options as before but its the only way (that i know of) to get to the leveling screen. you can fix your resolution settings after.
One random non-tip!: collect sponges (EDIT: and bars of soap). When used from the inventory (or you can drag them onto your action bar), the user gets cleaned of blood. So you don't look ridiculous in dialogue covered in red.
I actually did not know this 😅 Astarion makes the most up-close kills in my run so it's hilarious to see him just 🧍🏻standing drenched head to toe in red while everyone else looks normal
Hang on a second, I know you have something very important to say, right after that massive fight, but please excuse me when I sponge bath myself to be presentable for the dialogue camera
You can only dual wield weapons tagged as "Light". When you level up enough and get feats, the Dual Wielder feat will allow you to dual wield any non-light one handed weapons. When dual wielding, your offhand weapon will not use any stat bonus or proficiencies. With the dual wield weapon style that you picked up, your offhand will use your stat bonus and proficiencies.
For Lae-zel, if you deny her once, (and she needs to come to you) then you can never romance her for the rest of the game. And gale is the jealous type so you can only romance gale alone, if you try to romance gale and someone else he will confront you and demand you make a choice.
Why does Gale not have Magic Missile? Even at lower levels it is his best weapon and as it levels up it becomes incredible. Also, you can cancel spells after use which is handy when Cloud of Daggers is loose! Also you can split the party which is handy when exploring places with little space or difficult to get to especially if members of your party don't have enough strength to jump far etc xxx
You shouldn´t play in tactician?! who said that? why? i see no reason for you to not do it, did it myself, was way more interesting. Think about it when you feel it´s to hard, not when others suggest it. i love your playthrough especially for just that. ❤
I'm sorry but I'm laughing at how Gale was JUDGING you with his arms crossed and all after you kicked the squirrel, but also at your reaction (I can't believe there was no disapproval points either)
You can expand the characters individual actionbars from the small plus and minus icons bottom right of the bar btw. makes it much easier to see all the options at once. Almost a must for spellcasters lol. The lock icon locks the skills to their slots so you wont accidentally move them.
shadowheart has bad base stats and so she usually misses her attacks. in order to fix this you have to respec her with withers. idk what stat points tho my friend did it for me.
Here's a tip that "I" just found out on my umpteenth time playing BG3... TODAY. Did you know?.... That when there is a description of a drawing or blueprint, you can select "examine" and it will show you that "image". 🤦
I think it’s a great idea to figure it out yourself! What I loooooove about this game is that there is no such thing as mistakes are wrong moves- just opportunities for future playthrough’s to be just as fun as the last. Because if you miss something you might see it next time, and it’s not a game that needs to be 100% first game. You’ll enjoy it more and more the more you play. And I think the feeling of satisfaction you’ll get figuring out the combat gameplay on tactician for the first time will be super rewarding. So don’t listen to any haters that feel like you’re playing the game wrong. You’re not, you’re playing it as any gamer does for the first time- blind. I’m here to see someone play for the first time in their own way, and often the mistakes are what make the game so fun! Anyways love bg3 playthrough. Hope you keep going to the end (and then again) ❤
Really useful tip that I use in my gameplay constantly, click on the symbol next to "showing all" in your inventory You can sort all your items by type, weight, value, and by the last object you picked up in order. Really useful when trying to find something
Well... What did you yhink would happen if you kicked a squirrel 😂? Poor timber. Your reaction was priceless. I was wondering what happened to your portraits too, i haven't seen that before. Btw, Astarion can dual wield knives
I think you need to level up to fix the character portraits. And you can only dual wield with light weapons, if you pick the feat "dual wielder" it gets around that limitation
Shadowheart, despite being a miss machine, have a lot of utility spells from being a cleric. Lesser Restoration will heal the paralyzed Tiefling. Silence can neuter mages, even for one turn. Once she gets her hands on 3rd level and up spells, she can start dealing some real damage.
you can drink potions mid combat from anyone's inventory. you can change any party members class with Withers. when concentrating on a spell (IE: cloud of daggers) you can cancel it at anytime by pressing the X icon on the bottom left hand of the screen next to your portrait.
Wow, they have toned down the difficulty a LOT from when the game was in Early Access and fresh out of it. The harpy fight used to be *brutal* even on Balanced. And I mean *really* having to use the terrain to your advantage, splitting the party, having to use Revivify scrolls etc. But anyway, loving your journey and especially that you're not afraid to just roll with wherever the the dice and your choices take you.
And here I though Durge was cruel, latent Drow behavior is by choice. Poor squirrel. You should always have healing word prepared, on bard or cleric, going without healing in combat might a bit bold. With the harpies you also ignored the one that was singing, when an oppontent is concentrating on something, focusing many hits on them might break concentration (CON save), damage does not matter, just many hits, like Eldritch Blast or Cloud of Daggers are good. Do you notice a bit of frame rate dipping, you might want to turn a few effects off if you rendering this in 4K^^
@@Theorak The frames weren’t dropping for me it’s only when I watched the recording back that I noticed it. I think it’s because I was recording for so long. Should be fixed for next episode!

Glad to find another player who is drawn to Gale as much as I was ❤️ Lae'zel is a great choice too
I'm only 20 minutes in, and it's such a pleasure watching your wide-eyed wonder as you explore this game.
@@TomCrow-l6h 👀
YES lae’zel is my absolute favorite
Trading nose insults with Lae'zel is like trading insults with a close friend or a sibling. It's great. 😂
If you ever get the dialogue option "continue" it's a bug. Quick save with F5 and load with F8 to fix the issue. "Continue" will always select the first option available without giving you the chance to see what it is.
LOL he kicked the squirrel!! 🫵🏻🫵🏻
It's okay bro, we're all perverts. 😸😸😸
Yaay another part! ^^ im glad that you like it ! Enjoy this masterpiece
I did an entire evil run as Dark Urge and never had this happen. I thought maybe he has some mod installed that is doing it... I don't know.
@@echobucket I don’t have any mods installed lol it’s a pretty well known glitch apparently. Not sure why it hasn’t been fixed 🤷🏻♂️
I've tried a couple dark urge runs and gave up -- just doesn't interest me. I tend toward Chaotic Good, I think. 😊
@@CWReace You can be a good guy as dark urge though. If you resist
54:22 well… you kicked her xD
You can use water in your inventory to wash the blood off everyone, or any spell that creates rain or water.
53:28 Okay, I am calling the Faerûn Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals!!
"I think I'm gonna flirt with everyone and gonna see what happens"
Isn't that a truth Bard behavior 😏
The Shart problem. Shadowheart is a Cleric, that uses the main stat of wisdom. Unfortunately, Shart is a 1/2 elf that gives her a few racial spells that are based on 'intelligence", which Shart is not very well versed in. This causes those spells to miss more often than not.
Bg3 is amazing at teaching you to play D&D, it’s what taught me how to play properly with more efficiency and skill.
Overall, such and entertainment gameplay which makes me sad to wait for another days to come (gods it's start to feels like waiting anime weekly)
*spoiler*
Oh yeah 1 more thing, you can be multiple class.
Bae'zel best Tsundere ever ❤
i think the portraits have something to do with leveling up somewhere with low light. what i did was turn up the resolution settings super high and respec everyone affected with withers, i just picked the same class/options as before but its the only way (that i know of) to get to the leveling screen. you can fix your resolution settings after.
Seeing the game from a new player's perspective again is refreshing. And with no 5e knowledge at that. Looking good.
You can also walk through water
👋 Appreciate these vids and reliving my first time vicariously through you! My first was a bard as well, but a lore bard. 🎻🎵📖
I love the Harpy fight. My party and I definitely died to them the first time we found them. We went in better prepared the next time :-)
LMAO stripping Gale are we? Cant blame you, most of us do it at the start 😂
@@GD67514 It was an accident I swear
You can only dual wield weapons tagged as "Light". When you level up enough and get feats, the Dual Wielder feat will allow you to dual wield any non-light one handed weapons.
When dual wielding, your offhand weapon will not use any stat bonus or proficiencies. With the dual wield weapon style that you picked up, your offhand will use your stat bonus and proficiencies.
You can duel wield two light weapons like short swords and daggers, there are other ways to duel wield heavier weapons but your not to that point yet.
Glad you're having fun with this game. 900 hrs in and I'm still having a blast. Trying my hand at monk this time around. Good luck!
My first character was a monk. Absolute blast. Hope you have fun,
Monk is fun!
For Lae-zel, if you deny her once, (and she needs to come to you) then you can never romance her for the rest of the game. And gale is the jealous type so you can only romance gale alone, if you try to romance gale and someone else he will confront you and demand you make a choice.
Dude, how many kicks did you expect the squirrel to survive? 😂
The squirrel moment was so perfect
Some people are saying the portraits have something to do with the way your shadows are set in your graphics settings.
Yes, mouse cursor is visible.
Regarding the portraits, then you may check your graphics settings for Shadows? And you can use Withers to respec, which might also fix it.
You should upload that squirrel scene as a short :D
@@ProfTydrim Maybe I’ll upload it on Christmas Day 😈
I'm sorry but I'm laughing at how Gale was JUDGING you with his arms crossed and all after you kicked the squirrel, but also at your reaction (I can't believe there was no disapproval points either)
You can expand the characters individual actionbars from the small plus and minus icons bottom right of the bar btw. makes it much easier to see all the options at once. Almost a must for spellcasters lol. The lock icon locks the skills to their slots so you wont accidentally move them.
That whole last fight was clutch! Your playthrough has been so humourous so far
Companions can approve and disapprove even when they are in camp. And anything you without them even if you go alone, they know about it.
Not everything though! That usually stands for big choices if I recall
Omg I cackled when y9u kicked the squirrel. Your reaction was priceless and made my day!!!
RIP Timbers o7
you should get the eldritch blast perk on wyll. the one where it adds your charisma modifyer to its damage
You monster! You killed a squirrel!
shadowheart has bad base stats and so she usually misses her attacks. in order to fix this you have to respec her with withers. idk what stat points tho my friend did it for me.
I just saw a clip of u on tiktok and now ur on my youtube fyp lol
@@epicOway Haha welcome :)
Here's a tip that "I" just found out on my umpteenth time playing BG3... TODAY.
Did you know?....
That when there is a description of a drawing or blueprint, you can select "examine" and it will show you that "image".
🤦
You can dual wield a rapier eith a short sword or dagger
Really useful tip that I use in my gameplay constantly, click on the symbol next to "showing all" in your inventory
You can sort all your items by type, weight, value, and by the last object you picked up in order. Really useful when trying to find something
Hey, since you have problems with Dual Wealding i'll tell you. Only weapons with the "Light" property can be used for dual wealding
The perspective of the map can be a bit off sometimes. Some markers can be closer or further away than the map makes appears to show
I have just one piece of advice for you: whatever you choose, the game will take it seriously! 😼🙀😶🌫
One small detail about Lesser Restoration is that it will also cure the Bloodless condition, if someone happened to be bitten by a vampire...
you can drink potions mid combat from anyone's inventory. you can change any party members class with Withers. when concentrating on a spell (IE: cloud of daggers) you can cancel it at anytime by pressing the X icon on the bottom left hand of the screen next to your portrait.
It´s worthy to start a romance with Lae'zel. Later you´ll love her - as she will love you!
Aha, the squirel incident !
"And what do we learn today ? - It's not because I can kick a squirel I must kick a squirel..."
looks liek a bit of screen tearing/jitteryness with the game, Possibly the option of directx/vulcan at the startup options.
It looked fine for me so I think it’s just this recording. I should probably stop recording for 3 hours at a time lol
@@greenmanjoe1 I enjoy the long streams, I don't think that's it. May be a OBS setting or whatever, wasnt too big of a issue just pointing it out just incase ;)
when you respec with withers the icons of the companiens get fixed. Also after paying withers you can just steal the money from him. If you fail to steal from him he won't get mad, so there is no risk.
Engagement
"Is she broken?" I see you have discovered the wonders of Shart 1:36:18
There is a Sorting button on the top left of the Inv. menu And keep an eye out on the bottom left when in conversations, some npc's have a barter option
Is the pre long rest tea break a universal experience? 😂 Loving all the dialogue and story this episode!
Your reaction to, uh, interacting with timber 🐿 is pretty common among blind-players. It’s even worse when you’re the dark urge and don’t have speak with animals enabled. 😂
