  • In part 2 of my Learn Blender (with me) video series, I go over the User Preferences I've selected for myself and also provide a tour of the User Interface.
Learn Blender playlist: • Learn Blender
This playlist contains all of my Blender tutorial videos.
This video was somewhat difficult to make. It also turned out longer than my usual videos. The reason for this is that there is just SO much to talk about regarding User Preferences and the User Interface; so I had to pick and choose what to discuss and what to leave for a future video. So with that said, please keep in mind that I am "just scratching the surface".
There are a huge number of items you can change in the User Preferences so it can feel overwhelming. I show you the items that I think are the most important for brand new users of Blender.
I also provide a "tour" of the User Interface. And just like with the User Preferences, the User Interface for Blender is VERY complicated looking. This is both good and bad. It's good for the experienced user but for the beginning user, it can be very confusing and overwhelming. In this video, I try to simplify what I think beginners need to know.
Please feel free to leave any comments or questions. I read every comment and do my best to reply to as many as I can.

That's a great question! I didn't show the installation of that add on because you don't need the add on installed on your computer in order to follow my videos. I installed the add on to make it easier for YOU to follow my videos.
It has been quite a while since I installed the screencast add on, but I think what I did is I went to the internet and googled "Blender screencast keys addon". Several choices came up as a result of the search. Because I am working with Blender v2.93.x, I chose this link, " www.dcpweb.co.uk/blog/how-to-install-screen-cast-keys-on-blender-2.93 ". When I opened that link, I found a UA-cam tutorial that showed how to download, install, and use the add on. So that's what I did.
Once I called the add on installed and working, I did play around with some of the settings available. The video tutorial found at the link above shows how to change some of the settings to get the screencast keys to look the way you want.
I hope that answers your question.
Thanks for your comment and for watching.

@@ImaginethenMake Thx a lot. Your tuto is just awe! There are not many good tutos on YT and other yt-like-platforms. The main problem is that most tech people have no idea about what teaching is all about. They think that teaching is a snobbish showcase on how smart they are and they "teach" people as if running a F1 car in a car race... The fact that someone is a good programmer, or tech wizard does not make he/her a good teacher... Teaching is one thing and showing off is another totally different business. Congrats for your series on blender.

Thanks very much. I agree, it takes a special kind of person to be a good teacher.
I really enjoy teaching, I always have. A big part of the reason I started a UA-cam channel was to teach what I've learned.
Thanks again for your comment and for watching.
