So we should do our best to "big up" non-binary and not confuse people by saying "everything is non-binary" or things like that Of course you can go by whatever name you want to. If you like those male names and you are comfortable with them as a non-binary person, then you should wear them proudly. Nobody says you HAVE TO use non-binary names at all. A non binary name that I use is Blau. It's German for blue as I used to use Blu but my transphobe mum said it was "too plain" (she hates the fact I don't use my dead name) so instead of choosing something like asagao (Japanese for a certain shade) I chose Blau. @@marioluigi9599 Really doesn't matter whether it's technically male or female, in my opinion. As long as whoever bears the name likes it, it's a good name, regardless of gender :)
@@marioluigi9599 any name can be nonbinary it doesnt have to be a made up one or a noun. Telling someone they're name leans too much towards male or female is it's own form of invalidation. Please refrain from doing so its quite disrespectful. Unisex names and typically gendered names can be used by nonbinary people let's not cause discord in one of our few safe spaces😊
@@marioluigi9599 I'm not trying to be rude just trying to explain my point of view. The definition of non binary is basically that it's not exclusive to a system of 2 things (Paraphrasing here) context matters and in the context of name someone can view a name as "nonbinary" like I said before let's not be mean to each other I just want to have a meaningful conversation. Saying unisex isnt nonbinary makes no sense because in this context we're trying to make it so it's not apparent if your a girl or boy yknow? So if it's a name widely used by both girls and boy it makes sense to say it isnt bound to either gender thus nonbinary.
Yes, I'm french too, I know the struggle 😔 Especially since names that sound the same for boys and girls aren't written the same way (Like Gabriel / Gabrielle or Daniel / Danielle...) WHY DO WE HAVE TO PUT A GENDER ON EVERYTHING, IT SUCKS 😭
That's not non-binary. It's unisex nowadays ...but I'm pretty sure it was historically male only... because it means wood cutter. Non-binary is things like Bean, pebble or Shadow.
@@marioluigi9599 I strongly disagree. There is not any real names that are specifically non binary. People could use a more masculine or feminine name, but the person is still non binary. Not all embys choose a noun as a name.
@@squaredonut3250 Of course there are real non-binary names. Do your research. Some people on this comments section have non-binary names. Stop invalidating their names! In a society where many people see non-binary as not even real and as "just a joke", we should be bigging up non-binary names instead of saying the opposite like "those names don't even matter". You're literally invalidating non-binary names. That's really bad. Like look at what you're doing. You're a real negative force for non-binary people. It's not good to just tell everyone to get a male or female or unisex name instead. And can you stop saying that I'm saying people HAVE TO go with non-binary names? You're a liar, because if you actually read what I'm saying, you will find that I never said that. I said they should go with whatever name suits them best But I also said, let's do our best to big up actual non-binary names to make them more common throughout society. It doesn't mean non-binary people who don't choose to go with one are invalid. But it DOES validate the ones who do

@@harutobeanintrovert Like, why are you assuming this crap about me. That I'm a "particular type of person". I'm not. I only let you know that it's a unisex name, and not non-binary that's all. Doesn't mean you can't use it, does it? Like, a pear is a pear. It's not an apple is it? Doesn't mean you can't eat it, does it? Of course you can eat either one! And I never said you can't. All I said was, don't make the mistake of calling the pear an apple. That's literally all I'm saying. So don't be a Muppet. @@marioluigi9599 enby names do not have to be nouns or fall into a certain category. What matters is choosing a name that you feel good about. Non-binary people don't owe you androgyny.
@@peyton7527 What are you talking about Annabel? Why would I want them to be androgynous??? Most non-binary people actually don't present androgynous, you know! And as I say, you can take any name you want. What I'm saying is, you shouldn't expect people to call you by they/them pronouns if you're called JoJo or Annabel. The reality is 99% of people will just call you a she. And I'm sure you know I'm right Now on the other hand, actual non-binary names, WHICH WE SHOULD ACTUALLY BE PROMOTING will certainly make people think twice about your pronouns, because they're not feminised or masculinised names. They are truly gender free. That's the wonderful thing about them. L
@@marioluigi9599 I am really really sorry if I offended you. The reason why I said nb ppl don't owe you androgyny is bc you were criticizing ppls names bc they were too masculine or feminine, or "not actually non-binary. It made me wrongly think that you were someone who thought that nb people had to be androgynous. I am sorry that I assumed that. the reason I go by Annabel is bc I am still in the closet. I am still trying to accept myself. Also I haven't found a name that fits me yet. If i told ppl to use they/them pronouns for me, while still going by annabel, most would try to respect that (at least that is the case for me). Jojo, to me is fairly gender neutral and i hope that everyone would try to respect their name and pronouns. I do agree we should be promoting and validating names that aren't viewed as real names (sock, glass, etc.). These names are more agender/ gender free which is great. the thing I don't like is how you are saying that certain names aren't enby. To me, it feels like you are invalidating someone's name.
I'm non binary, been knowing for a whole now, bit only recently started looking for a name. My gf helped me and practice to see which one I liked more and now I go by Sage, I really love it and it makes me really happy.
I chose my non-binary name as Alex, but I've been passing it off as a "cosplay" name for anime conventions just to see what people think. I'm genderfluid and I've been planning on changing my name for a long time, I wanted the name Kai from the very start but it has been a hell of a struggle to find a new one bc my mom think Kai is too masculine and not unisex enough,,,, and she's kinda right too bc here in scandinavia Kai is strictly a male name
I've been looking for a new name recently and I thought I would share some of my favourite non-binary/gender-neutral names I found. Blaze, Phoenix, Azure, River, Ivy, Alex, Atlas, Echo, Indigo, Nova, Sage, Nico, Raven, Robin, Newt, and Rebel.
This also really helped me as I am FtM trans, I've been thinking about "Charlie" for a while now, I've always like the name, and I'm pretty much set on it, but I also kinda really like "Elliot". Indecisive mode activate.
Before I even knew I was enby I made a lot of characters with gender neutral names and some that I found when looking them up that I liked are Joee and Rae Rae is one of my male characters now, but Joee is kind of like a self-projection of myself and is one of my most used characters My drama teacher used to give everyone in her classes nicknames and despite it sounding fem to me at first I grew to like my nickname: Wren (or Ren) I also go by Zane- which can easily be gender neutral depending on spelling- or Z which could stand for literally anything

I know this is a month old, but a name suggestion would be Marée-Lunaire [Mar/Lune for short?] Its Lunar Tide in French! Or Harmaku, which is derived from Harmaa Kuu [Grey Moon in Finnish]
I recently figured out that I'm a demi-girl, and the name I chose was Casley (CASS-lee)! None of the conventional/popular gender neutral names were doing it for me, although i liked 'Cas' as a nickname. I eventually settled on Casley, and that's that!

I've been questioning if I'm non-binary or not and I really like the name "Eli" For some reason I really like giving female/ female presenting characters name that are considered "masculine" for some reason so... I decided I'd apply that to myself if I ever decide I'm enby... apparently... Edit: The edit was just adding the "female presenting"
A good name I thought of which I'm also currently considering: Olive. Or Ollie. Both if those are very good, if you ask me. Also Oliver, but that may be a little too 'masculine' for some people. Edit: So, I'm Ollie, now. And I absolutely love my new name!
Also, names I generally like are basically ones like: Phoenix Soul Shard Flare Any type of gemstone (Ruby, Obsidian, Emerald, etc) Or ones based off car brands/models (Miura, Aston, Shelby, Royce, Enzo, Veyron) Clear Cloud Silver Echo Eclipse Pearl Ray Lucid Mira *Some of these aren’t considered gender neutral, but relatively ones I like a lot. Also more unique.*
I thought I was ftm for a while and thought I liked the name “Alex” for my “boy” name, “Jordan” is a nickname that I had gone by for a while and after realizing I was agender and was gender neutral, I didn’t know what my name was going to be because my birth name was the only thing I went by. And I finally saw that the name “Jax” is an actual name, I tried combining the two and before and I got this. I was so unaware that it’s an actual name, but now I know that my name is Jax
The names are all amazing. I'm nonbinary myself and go by the name Kaya. I choose it, because it's a gender neutral name and I can shorten it to the name Kay/Kai, which I really like to. I think it's really great to see all the nonbinary people finding the name their comfortable with💕
That's awesome! My parents named me Kaya at birth, but I'm currently questioning genderfluid. I like my name a lot though and I wasn't sure I wanted to change it, but makes me feel more confident about keeping it. Glad someone else likes the name too :D
I'm genderfluid going by Casey and Cross and this video actually gave me a lot of new possible options since Casey sometimes doesn't sound right to me.

Kai is Hawaiian meaning Ocean and also Welsh from "Caius". Yes, the name is often considered unisex, but the vast majority of people with that name are actually male. So it's actually a unisex and male-leaning name, not non-binary, despite being used by so many non-binary people

@@marioluigi9599 I'm not trying to be rude just trying to explain my point of view. Unfortunately, it's pretty feminine. Hardly even unisex nowadays. And certainly not non-binary
@@marioluigi9599 enby names do not have to be nouns or fall into a certain category. What matters is choosing a name that you feel good about. Non-binary people don't owe you androgyny.

And as I say, you can take any name you want. What I'm saying is, you shouldn't expect people to call you by they/them pronouns if you're called JoJo or Annabel. The reality is 99% of people will just call you a she. And I'm sure you know I'm right
Now on the other hand, actual non-binary names, WHICH WE SHOULD ACTUALLY BE PROMOTING will certainly make people think twice about your pronouns, because they're not feminised or masculinised names.
It's good, it's a fairly common enby name, becoming more and more popular
I had a really hard time with my name because I knew it really made me uncomfortable and most names are so gendered, but my name is Sidus or Sid for short
They're both really masculine, sorry to say
. Try to stay away from anything Latin that ends in "us" or "a". Otherwise it'll be masculine and feminine. Like Julius - masculine. Julia - feminine.
That's really not non-binary
Non-binary is something where there is no association AT ALL with male or female. Like "moon" is okay, but sun is verging on feminine because it shines brightly. Certainly "star" is an established feminine name. Those are no good
This has been an absolute blessing in disguise 🥺💙 I didnt think I was looking for a new name (I used to be Sage as my old nb name) till I heard Avery but it’s perfect.. thank you
I've rounded it down to like 50 names,
Bread
Jordan
Jaiden
Lucifer
Charlie
Ash
Phoenix
Spoon
Are some of them.
spoon is so cute lol
and phoenix and lucifer are amazing!

Male name
@@marioluigi9599 no it's unisex look it up for yourself also mind your business
@@tyedraws Okay, maybe it is...
But in either case,.it's definitely not non-binary
I would say it's unisex, masculine-leaning
@@tyedraws also, there's no need to be rude. You're the one who told your name off to the public. I'm a member of the public simply responding to it.
No need to loss your head over it
@@marioluigi9599 you literally tried to invalidate me how am I the rude one?
