M. Latry is a genius, you have to listen to the opening of the mass to realize that this entire piece is him improvising on the theme of the day's mass. I think we will discuss him in music courses a hundred years from now.
When an organist plays such heavenly "spontaneous" music such as this, it confirms in my mind that there is an awesome God who gives the gift of music! I am simply amazed at the great display of musicianship that has been displayed here. Keep playing the magical organ - THE KING OF INSTRUMENTS. Wayne from Australia.
The superior sound was because I was allowed to use the mics hanging in the nave and I bought equipment to allow me to use real microphones with my camera - also bought a new camera so I can make better videos. Thanks for your kind words
I was truly delighted to meet and hear Mr. Latry last night in Plano, Texas at Christ United Methodist Church. I came away on a "spiritual high!" The Dedication Concert of the church's Reuter Pipe Organ Opus 2235 was truly a memorable experience. Bruce McWilliams September 27, 2010 Addison, Texas
I went to mass in Notre Dame de Paris the last month and, even though I don't speak much french and couldn't understand much, the music the organist played was so beautiful and made it such a great experience. I would recommend to every Catholic who is planning on visiting this cathedral to have mass here
The way he finally incorporates the theme of that day’s chant, Dieu Regne, at 9:12, and especially at 9:31, which he has been building to for the entire improvisation, is awe inspiring. I don’t think I have ever heard an improvisation with better structure
I am an organist, of too many years. Enough of them to be able to say: this is astonishing, I've not heard anything in performance that would challenge this brilliant improvisational skill. A great many improvisations have a rhapsodic form, something of a crazy quilt of ideas pasted together. This extraordinary example is of whole cloth. The man is, in a word, brilliant. Gloriously colorful and exciting work. On ONE manual! [thanks to electronics but who's counting]. Bravissimo!
Like Millions of people around the World - the Fire at Notre Dame was so difficult to watch on TV. I am so glad that reports are coming out that the Organ was not destroyed. May GOD be with the Parisians as they re-build the Cathedral. Lance ( Organist across the pd... ) † ♫♪♫
Latry is great, but also the instrument is incredible. Notice the combination management possibilities that it has. Superb player, superb instrument. If the voice of God can be in some way imagined, the sound of this organ can fit perfectly in a believer's imagination.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Latry at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA during a master class for the University of Washington. Very expressive playing, and pleasant character.
We were blessed to have him live here in Tucson, Arizona at the Catalina Methodist Church for a concert last night. Thank you so much for your passion sir!
maîtrise absolue de l'harmonie, de la structure, des timbres, sens de l'instrument hors du commun...que dire, qui n'ait été dit et redit sur ce grand monsieur ? Immense respect et admiration renouvelés.
Had the pleasure of seeing this magnificent performer play a recital on the grand organ of Liverpool Cathedral. He mastered it perfectly, a superb evening !
Este grande músico já esteve no Brasil. Simplesmente Soberbo. A Rede Cultura de Televisão gravou um recital de órgão há alguns anos atrás, na íntegra, com este grande artista.
Never heard anything this powerful before, emotionally or literally, its perfect! Latry is the *KING* of the king of instruments!! Thank you much for uploading this amazing performance = ' ) Love how the organ shakes the floor, adds to the suspense of the music! :-D
I was blessed to hear Olivier Latry inaugurate my Cathedral's Restored Skinner organs in St Paul Minnesota. He just blew me away. Of the 4 organist that took over for the late pierre cochereau Olivier Latry and Yves Devernay are my favorite.
Magificent. I've heard him several times and had the pleasure of meeting him both in Ireland and in the loft of Notre-dame. A superb artist and a lovely guy.
I fully agree. Let the sounds ring till they decay naturally. Even applause before the echos are all gone is irritating to me. This not a teen age rock concert.
Good GOD, this video just makes my LIFE whenever I watch it...I don't even have words to describe the emotion I'm feeling right now other than a bunch of superlatives...and inspired. Latry is SUCH A BEAST.
Saw him live today at MÜPA, Budapest. That was an amazing concert! What a skinny man playing the most difficult instrument and filling the whole concert hall... incredible!
Oh wow I really do like the sound of this masterpiece of an organ! Unique, all together, poweful, bombastic, silent, harmonic. This organ is magic especially with this great master of an organist
@stickershomeplus I was at that recital! Brilliant playing, particularly the Guillou and the Alain. I play that particular Alain piece, and interpreting it so it sounds cohesive is very difficult.
Dazzling! Latry is a unique genius. I grew up with the improvisational brilliance of Gerre Hancock at St. Thomas, Fifth Avenue in New York. There is no greater art form than great improvisation!.
We need a full transcription of this one
The finest and the most powerful pipe organ in the world
that organ..that sound...must be a dream for any organist....

One of my goals in life is to go to Paris and hear this magnificent instrument and organist live.
12yrs on and still one of his best improvisations. 7:40 onwards is superb!!

One of his best improvs. He is a master of goose-bump-raising modulations. And great structure on this one.
I was blessed to hear his performance once in Westminster Cathedral, got his signature on the back of my YouCat - Catechism for the Youth.

This man is a rockstar. I just LOVE him... 🥰😘😄😁😁
Wow, I am sad. I hope one day I am able to attend mass at the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Mother of God!!! This is stunning on my computer. What must be the effect in person!!!!
I heard Latry play in Erfurt, Germany, when I was on vacation there. I also met him. A wonderfully gifted and very humble performer.
Forget Sunday Mass. Olivier provides the spiritual experience. Stupendous!

One of the greatest organists on this planet !
Amazing performance
Paul Williams Thank you.

En fait le thème circule très tôt dès 1'50 clairement).
Brilliant!! This guy is a pro.
I love the 8' Vox Humana!!! Beautiful!

Superb!
Fantastique, véritable virtuose. Bravo!
Ahhh, my heart aches for this man today. I do hope the organ can be rebuilt.
My prayers for everyone at Notre Dame amid the devastation of the fire at that beautiful cathedral.
Latry is great, but also the instrument is incredible.
Notice the combination management possibilities that it has.
Superb player, superb instrument. If the voice of God can be in some way imagined, the sound of this organ can fit perfectly in a believer's imagination.
God created this man with the purpose to play the organ... I really love listening to this music!
We heard him last week in San Francisco, and he played a superb concert !
John Carleton Sacramento Ca.
WOW, what a wonderful performance, and such an intoxicating piece of music, I adore it !!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Latry at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA during a master class for the University of Washington. Very expressive playing, and pleasant character.
I'm sitting here crying that no one will ever hear this beatiful instrument again. so sad.
We were blessed to have him live here in Tucson, Arizona at the Catalina Methodist Church for a concert last night. Thank you so much for your passion sir!
You are most welcome thanks for your kind words

Warren Pugh Thank you - I think he is pretty good too
This whole peice is just mind blowing on so many levels!
Gigantic!
Este grande músico já esteve no Brasil. Simplesmente Soberbo. A Rede Cultura de Televisão gravou um recital de órgão há alguns anos atrás, na íntegra, com este grande artista.
People, who don't know music like that may say it sounds chaotic, but there is sooooo much poetry in it...!!! Great!
He by far, is one of the best they have. He is blessed with the holy spirit to be able to play so well. Give glory to God in the highest!
And now, the Notre Dame has burnt down. May we all respect the wonderful cathedral it was.
Never heard anything this powerful before, emotionally or literally, its perfect! Latry is the *KING* of the king of instruments!!
Thank you much for uploading this amazing performance = ' )
Love how the organ shakes the floor, adds to the suspense of the music! :-D
He really enjoys his craft - bravo!
What a great work , the OrganistOLIVIER LATRY is absolutly maried in this instrument ... wonderful !!!
Brillant !
Amazing. It's great to see Organ videos over the web. Liked Daniel Roth in Widor 6 too.
Très intéressant! Bravo, Monsieur Latry.
!!!! It is hard to beat the fantastic reverberation of the large cathedrals.
This man is amazing. I recently heard him at the inaugural recital in the new Catholic Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, California, USA.
Magnifique concert !Monsieur Latry .
I hope this magnificent instrument survived the fire at Norte Dame today!
A-MAZ-ING!!!!!!!!!! The best video and best improvisation I have seen.
I was blessed to hear Olivier Latry inaugurate my Cathedral's Restored Skinner organs in St Paul Minnesota. He just blew me away. Of the 4 organist that took over for the late pierre cochereau Olivier Latry and Yves Devernay are my favorite.
this is awesome
Great recordings of this instrument gives my subwoofer a workout. :)
This was fun to watch!
I visited Notre Dame on Sunday 15th November - the music sounded very like this during the procession. The atmosphere was incredible.
Fantastic--Sunday at Notre Dame is a must.
Magificent. I've heard him several times and had the pleasure of meeting him both in Ireland and in the loft of Notre-dame. A superb artist and a lovely guy.
Met him tonight in Paisley, Scotland
BRAVO!
Great clip -- Latry is a genius. But LET THE REVERB RING AT THE END! Don't cut it off like that -- aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
Urbie4 SORRY!
what s going on
I fully agree. Let the sounds ring till they decay naturally. Even applause before the echos are all gone is irritating to me. This not a teen age rock concert.
Urbie4 I know right!!! what the hell guys
Magnificent
This impovisation should be transcribed to sheet music... it's a pity I'm not capable enough for that. This is one for the ages.

Brilliant :-)
Good GOD, this video just makes my LIFE whenever I watch it...I don't even have words to describe the emotion I'm feeling right now other than a bunch of superlatives...and inspired. Latry is SUCH A BEAST.
I love the power of French organs. Excellent video as always.
what total talent, that was great to listen to,
I listen to this more than is considered normal, probably... I still can't believe it was imrovised.
So perfectly wonderful. I adore.
i love the organ of notre dame!!
and olivier it's a great organ player!!
Of all of the pipe organ music I've ever heard, this ranks with the best.
Saw him live today at MÜPA, Budapest. That was an amazing concert! What a skinny man playing the most difficult instrument and filling the whole concert hall... incredible!
absolutely hypnotic. this is the reason these instruments are worth every penny. if only i had this talent.
this guy is off the hook!!!!!! awesome!
Thank you for saving this Improvisation.
absolutely unbelievable
Oh wow I really do like the sound of this masterpiece of an organ! Unique, all together, poweful, bombastic, silent, harmonic. This organ is magic especially with this great master of an organist
this blows me away.
EPIC!!!
I really hope the fire did not destroy this magnificent instrument.
The instrument was unharmed it might need a lot of restoration but the fire was in the back of the Cathedral, the organ is up front, in the gallery.
I love 7:20 when the Voix Humaine comes on and he plays a portion of the chant on a light reed stop in the pedal. Great stuff!
Merde! This blew me away! Thank you for sharing!
Wow - just wow!!
A Marvelous Organ....magnific
Wow!
Merci beaucoup!! Mr. Latry a son orgue a Notre Dame!! Cette musique et incroyables...il y a tellment de harmonie bizare!
Thank you so much!
@stickershomeplus I was at that recital! Brilliant playing, particularly the Guillou and the Alain. I play that particular Alain piece, and interpreting it so it sounds cohesive is very difficult.
I am a believer, but terribly "back-slidden". Even so, this guy is the "Eddy Van Halen" of the Pipe Organ!
Please, GOD, save the Cathedral.
15 years later and I'm still watching this. Never gets old! Any way to purchase the audio from this, from you?
Dazzling! Latry is a unique genius. I grew up with the improvisational brilliance of Gerre Hancock at St. Thomas, Fifth Avenue in New York. There is no greater art form than great improvisation!.
So true.....unlike the printed score, it is directly from the heart.
No intention of an insult, but this improvisation would prove to be an excellent piece for the title music of an epic sci-fi movie - astonishing!!
