I dunno if I'd call it the most epic space battle to date but it's certainly one of the most well-made space battles. A nice balance of tension, classic Star Trek bridge commands and attractive (albeit relatively low budget) CGI.

The battle with the reliant is the best. Mostly because of the music the escalation, the way it shows Kahn gaining the advantage and with the back and forth before the reliant fires, etc. It might not be the biggest nor flashiest but it’s still good.

    • @style0vertalent191
      @style0vertalent191 25 днів тому

@@About37Hobos God I'm so tired of hearing the same bullshit over and over again. I am not whiny because I criticize products of a franchise. I'm not exaggerating when saying Discovery is one of the - if not THE - worst AAA-Series I've ever seen and I've probably watched more already than you ever will. I also don't care what people thought about TNG at first or later. It's pretty simple - the first season was, is and will always be garbage because especially Picard, but also the others, behave like garbage and it's overall nonsense. Then they've realized that, it was changed and the show became pretty good for the time. Agree with that or not, that's the facts to it. Like the first season, don't like the rest - fine, whatever, I don't care but facts stay facts. Personally I don't like the series because it's too old and everythings still a bit weird but that's me. I would never say it was bad because I don't like it for these reasons.
Also I can't believe someone would put the 5th, 7th and especially the 9th movie below Discovery...or anything, ever. Saying that is basically so absurd that I think you're trolling because my brain won't accept it as a fact that someone could think that way. That's like saying 'man, that literal piece of shit tastes better than a menu in the best restaurant in the world'. I mean 5 wasn't a good movie, 7 was somewhat okay and 9 was a good movie because of what the cast had established in the franchise until then. Other than that, 9 was pretty mediocre also, judging objectively. Even watching Star Trek 1 AND 5 for a 1000 times is better than having to endure a single minute of Discovery. That's the extent of a shitshow it is. I could easily rant for hours and hours about every episode and sometimes probably about almost every scene of an episode and that would STILL only be based on facts that just exist in the business. Normally I even watch bad stuff from franchises I care about several times to REALLY make up my mind and discuss in-depth. It's literally impossible with Discovery. I can't even force myself to do it.
Now that's that. There are many things in life that are up to taste and personal preferences. The quality of Discovery is none of those things, sorry.

What I've heard mostly is that "Discovery" was to much like a Opera of the Valkyries, very little actual Star Trek leadership and social meanings content. When they say, "It isn't over 'til the fat lady sings..." what do you think that means to you? It means unending theater with warriors yelling raising swords and then more scenes and then another one, and finally you can wake up because we all see the fat lady is singing so it's finally over? Based on that description, "Discovery" was not directed well by comparison to others in the Star Trek franchise, and you can not expect production success all reliant upon the Actors. This isn't to say there aren't some good scenes and great acting moments, but over-all the directing in this project was not as successful as I'm sure was wanted. I've heard a lot saying the casting was not great, but again my experience in ten years of small screen TV producing, is that it is directing that is center point to this problem. Yet, it is more about understanding what a specific Director needs, that is the operative question and it is not all on those shoulders alone. It is a Production Company.

He was so in love Michael & losing her because of what was going through his mind & the HELL from the memories of what he went through.

@@paulacurtis1874 It is a decent setup, but it was badly executed. For starters, the flashbacks were very confused and mostly involved Tyler screaming so they really weren't very informative. Secondly, I imagine it would've worked much better if they had condensed it into one episode. I'm not an established writer but I'll try to give you an example.
(Edit: Also inclosing some criticism of the modern media below xD I got a bit carried away.)
While on the edge of Klingon territory, the Discovery picks up a distress call from a Klingon shuttle. Puzzled, they fly into Klingon space to investigate and find Tyler running away from a Klingon Bird of Prey in the stolen shuttle. The Discovery makes the ship back off and beams Tyler to sick bay. They also take the shuttle to examine its technology which would give the Federation an edge in the war.
There they treat Tyler's injuries and when he gets better he tells them that he was being held and tortured on the Bird of Prey and that he managed to escape by killing the guards and stealing a shuttle.
As Tyler has nowhere to go at the moment, they let him stay on Discovery. Tyler and Burnham, possibly because of guilt that she started a war that caused Tyler to suffer so much, or possibly because of Tyler's good looks, get rather close. However, Burnham starts to notice some oddities in his behaviour. One minute he's calm and relaxed, next thing you know he's getting very annoyed about something without a good explanation. A few days later an argument breaks out in the mess hall. It turns into a fight and the security finds Tyler fighting with Klingon-like ferocity and skill. He is confined to quarters for the time being while the others ponder what's going on. Meanwhile, the chief engineer checks the shuttle Tyler escaped in. He finds it very curious that the shuttle didn't seem protected by any security codes that would prevent Tyler from escaping. The shuttle's computer seems obliging enough and he manages to discover some information about the shuttle. Among other things, he finds that Tyler was lucky that the shuttle was there, because the ship he was held on had two shuttle bays, one of which was empty at the time. If the shuttle Tyler escaped on was in the other bay, he would've had to walk much further and would probably have died along the way. He also discovers that the shuttle's atmosphere had slightly less oxygen than Klingons usually require and closer to human level (22% instead of 25%, for example). The final straw comes, when he returns the next day and tells the ship's computer to turn the lights on, and the shuttle's computer responds as well. A Klingon computer taking orders (in English, mind you) from a human seems most peculiar. It really looks like the Klingons wanted Tyler to escape. The Chief reports these suspicions to Lorca, who agrees that Tyler could be a spy and decides to search his quarters. Tyler, of course, protests - politely at first, but soon he becomes violent and has to be stunned. While he's unconscious, the doctor is given permission to take a closer look at his brain and discovers a chip that carries Voq's brainwave patterns, at which point the whole thing becomes apparent. Michael asks if it's possible to remove the chip, to which the doctor responds that he'd rather not risk it because it might damage something else. Michael succeeds in making it less powerful and when Tyler wakes up he seems to be much more peaceful (though moody at times).
I think an episode like this would work much better than slowly dragging one simple story over an entire season.
For one thing, it's manipulation. If you stop telling a story, people will still wonder how it ends. It makes the viewer invest hours upon hours of their time to find out, and in the end it really doesn't matter if the story is well-written. This of course is great for the producers because watchtime = money and they = lazy. They grab your attention with flashy lights and the promise of a good story, and when you don't get it in the first episode, they just say: "Hey, don't be impatient, it'll all clear up in the next one." And when it doesn't: "Okay, next one. I promise." And when they finally bring their mediocre story to an end, they say: "Oh, but before I end the story, they also found the USS Enterprise! Be sure to stick around and see what happened then!"
This seems to be alarmingly common nowadays. TV Shows have become really long movies aired in several takes. Criticism also seems to be becoming a crime because a simple viewer obviously doesn't know anything about literature and what the writer wanted to express with their work. The thing is, what the viewer thinks of the movie/TV Show is actually vitally important. If I make you a soup and people find it too salty, it's not because you don't know anything about cooking. It's because there's too much salt in it. But more importantly, if I denied everything and called you stupid for not understanding the fine profession of cooking, you'd likely never accept soup from me again because you know I never considered the slightest possibility that I had made a mistake. The same should go for movies and TV shows. If it's bad, the author should be ready to lose the trust of the consumers. But, incredibly, they're not.

Agreed. I've always found them to be super overrated, even the old school variety. I dislike them for the same reason that I largely dislike the Mandalorians in Star Wars: they're just a bland warrior culture with the illusion of depth/complexity when in reality, it just boils down to "our 'honor' comes from violence".

This show finally ended the greatest debate in Star Trek. Which Star Trek show was the worst? For years many leaned toward DS9 as the worst ST show but others claimed that it was Enterprise and still others - sick, demented people - claimed that Voyager or TNG or TOS was the worst. Things change though....Star Trek Diversity was truly a dumpster fire and many claimed that it was physically impossible to make a show that was worse than Diversity but never underestimate the woke hipsters, pretentious woke hacks and shallow, virtue signaling narcissists that work for the company. Then they shocked the world by coming out with Picard....where our favorite Star Trek Captain is turned into a blundering and ineffectual buffoon who gets bossed around by various "POC birthing people".

DS9 and Enterprise are both amazing imo.
DS9 usually gets picked for being the #1 fan favorite show, and Enterprise is my personal favorite of all the shows. I think TNG is probably the best made, but Enterprise really stuck with me.
And what the fuck do you mean ”Star Trek Diversity??” If you are insinuating that Discovery is somehow bad for being Diverse, that is the biggest steaming pile of bullshit I’ve ever heard; Star Trek has tried to promote inclusivity and diversity as one of its #1 messages since TOS. Hell, just look at TOS. Episodes were banned all over for it being too progressive with its diversity at the time. It was one of Roddenberry’s strongest beliefs that we are stronger together, and Star Trek as a franchise is meant to show that to the extreme; Discovery continues this.
Discovery and Picard are plagued with very poor writing, but the fact that they progressive just means they’re following the footsteps of every Trek show that came before them. I love that we finally got to see a nonbinary character exploring their identity and how the show explored concepts that are relevant to today’s younger generation, I like that we got to see an LGBT couple finally depicted. Simple moments of representation like that go a long way; for TOS, it was as simple as having Uhura and Sulu on the bridge and that was controversial.
Also “Woke hipsters,” “POC birthing people.” Lmfao you sound insufferable. If THAT is your problem with these new shows, and good riddance if you’re not a fan anymore! My main problem with Disco is that it heavily ignored canon at times… But the diversity is great to see!

Typical discovery fan. Let's get this straight this is literally one of the worst space battles in all of science fiction. By labeling it the most epic space battle shows you have not seen Deep Space Nine who has done with not even close to the same budget more epic battles and should have been the perfect example for them to do and improve on but sadly failed. There are space battles in the animated shows star wars clone wars and rebels that put this to shame. I am a die hard trekkie and own my life to star trek because it saved me in a period of my life were I had nothing and no one and what discovery fans have done and the show to the franchise is a bad joke. Discovery has done nothing but self inflicted injury with bad writing, force relationships and un real stories were trek is supposed to give hope and inspiration the. Orginal series tng, ds9, Voyager and Enterprise has inspired advancement in everything and inspired people to do and try and build and bring it to reality and taught people to accept accountability for their actions and to treat everyone the same and respect people and their opinions. This or any new trek has not they can't even get the established races right. This is not me hateing on the show it is telling the truth and that is the problem with discovery fans and I proved it on more than one occasion majority of them not only say that they watch it but have never seen an episode which is wrong. But I challenge you and extend my hand to you or anyone who wants to take part in it friendly debate/discussion on trek I bet you won't take part in it and it's a shame I've seen every single episode and movie trek has made countless times played every game and read countless books and had my life saved and shaped by the franchise and I am a true star trek historian and expert and it's time for the creator and the franchise to give a true expert who can point out the good and the bad and who not only predicted the plot of every new trek but can give them a narrative that pushes the same things and agenda they want to be more natural and bring the spark back and if given a chance and opportunity to prove it will shock you and prove what I say.

Burnham is the number one villain in the first two episodes. She obviously gets out of jail somehow (🙄) and we have to look at her stupid arrogant mug some more.
