Nice shooting , specially as its .22 .. never really thought about HFT , bit too " un-gain " in me old age .... look forward too some in the future ..have a great xmas lads .. and a super new year
Good to hear from you again Mark...Scores out slightly due to an error in editing but still...for a quickly zero'd and roughly mapped .22 its a good score i think. There's 7 targets that are at 10 - 12mm holes now as opposed to 3 so its a more challenging course than earlier in the year. But what it really means is the pellet fills around 50% of the kill zone. On the 10mm targets, if perfectly concentric to the kill zone, i only have a 2.24mm gap between the pellet and plate. If i spent more time on the rifle understanding the trajectory map and trued it on the indoor range it'd drop them all day long - it's that good a rifle. Although the Cosford course and the way we shoot is not to exact HFTUK rules its still pretty much how we would do it in a real hunting scenario which is what we want to practice. I encourage you to find somewhere local though, make yourself a set of of rules to work from that suit your health and challenge yourself.
I use a .177 HFT500 as my comp rifle but always wanted to try the rifle I shoot the most which is my RM8 in .22 flavour.., thinking it may give me a proper challenge 😎
Nice video. looking forward to hearing your opinion in the upcoming LGV review. What was your disappointment with the panorama. I have one on my 97, and find it a cracking scope. ps- love the pellet testing vids.
In .22 (16gn) I like somewhere between 25-30y as it gives good speed and reasonably good trajectory. The stalling of the pellet past peak trajectory is the thing to watch out for as it changes dramatically with pellet weight. Play around shooting at 5y intervals on a nice windless evening and drawing it out. Try to find a range that has a nice smooth curve and no dips.

Love the rm8
I was lead to believe .22 wasnt the preferred choice for HFT. Do you find you can still compete with the .177
To be fair to the .22...in competition...it's closer than you'd think. But the .177 will always have the advantage in competition disciplines.
