Same bro! I just saw this in IMAX! Top Gun kicked us off with an amazing Summer already and I want Avatar 2 to finish off strong this year! My first movie this year was The Batman which was my least favorite. I am planning on seeing Jurassic World for my birthday next week! These are my top four movies I'm seeing this year for 2022. Top Gun is number one on my top favorites followed by The Batman as number two. I really want Avatar 2 to end this year strong!
The most legendary cinematic experience ever. The shots in this move are insane and really a once in a decade or even lifetime production. There's a reason this was delayed a couple years.

"Only a Captain" is a ridiculous statement anyway. O-6 isn't easy to attain, and Rear Admiral is even harder. Plus, once you make O-7, you won't be flying. You won't be flying missions as an O-6, for that matter... just taking your bird out for a spin on YOUR carrier as CO or XO.

Today, this movie became the first ever billion dollar film for Tom Cruise just a week before he turns 60. What a gift this must be for him. I’m sure he would have given up on a billion knowing that only superheroes and CGI spectacles can reach that coveted number, but this movie blew beyond the wildest of expectations. Well deserved for this magnificent blockbuster.
I wish people would stop comparing it to marvel, I mean geez we can like both Top Gun and Marvel at the same time.

Somehow people think that creating CGI is maybe very easy? And that some of those movies that have a lot of CGI and don't have good actors, or writing, or good stories, etc? Not sure.

This guy is 59 and he's killing it so hard. I just finished watching the film. This one is meant just for the big screens. What an experience it was!!! The thing which I liked the most about this one was that along with intricately designed plane chase sequences, the film is also high on emotion.... Towards the end, you realise how wholesome it is.

The plot already came out. He is an instructor at Top Gun in the present time when the use of unmanned drones by the US military has resulted in lessening the need for fighter pilots and traditional dogfighting skills. He meets Goose’s son, who is a young up and coming Naval aviator, and the story continues from there.

My dad was battling cancer when this trailer came out. We hoped he would get better and we'd go watch this movie as we knew he loved the first one. He didn't make it. So i watched this movie without him and know he would have loved it.
Dude thats so weird, exact same thing happened to me. My dad loved airplanes and was a fighter jet photographer. He got cancer around the time this trailer came out. Passed away since then, and I just watched this movie yesterday. Amazing movie, and I know my dad would've loved it.

I just got back home from watching it in IMAX. It's the best movie and cinematic experience i have ever had and ever will have i'm sure of it. Thank you to every person who made this movie, and thank you to everyone in history making the technologies capable of making a movie like this! I cried a few times throughout, what a rollercoaster ride!

That was my plan all along and I had a ticket to the IMAX theater an hour away, but I cancelled and just went to the normal local theater. Now, I'm eager to see the IMAX even more. The cookie-cutter theaters look so old in comparison and the house lights aren't dim enough.

I'm a captain for Airbus airplanes by now, but it took me until 2005, when I had just finished university and went to flight school, to watch this movie for the first time. This movie may not have anything to do with reality, but at that time it gave us a special feeling that pushed us through training, ups and downs, pressure and fears of an unknown future.

Amazing movie. I've seen it 3 times already, it's that good! See it on the biggest screen possible. Don't wait for streaming, you need to make the effort to go and see it. Everyone clapped at the end! That hardly ever happens. Proper old school, blockbuster movie magic.

The 80's movie was iconic for me. I swear that the sequel hasn't lost that loving feeling. The action scenes are incredible - better than the first! The absence of cgi added to the authenticity. The screen writing and acting was very very good. I had very high expectations and the movie exceeded that. I'll go again tonight.

Saw Top Gun in 1986 when I was 17. It was my all time favorite and I cannot recall how many times I have seen it.
I went on to a 30 year Airline career as I had a passionate love for Aviation.
I sat in the cinema yesterday to watch Top Gun Maverick, and the opening scene/music just filled me with emotion and fond memories of when I was 17. I was simply BLOWN AWAY by this movie! Many many tear up moments, more from a nostalgia aspect as I was filled with joy and excitement.
I think this is possibly the best movie I have ever seen, and after the crap Hollywood has produced of late, it was refreshing to be thoroughly entertained again at the Cinema.
Mr Cruise...You knocked this one way out of the park! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

There never was a prequel in the Top Gun franchise. There's the original and there is the sequel.
Just got out from the theater, this is easily one of my favorite movies of the year. One of those rare times where the sequel is actually a lot better than the original. Props to Joseph Kosinski in doing a great job directing two sequels (this and Tron Legacy) from a classic movie that managed to top the original

@@TRManiac101 If it's anything like the original all of the scenes were it appears he's flying he's in the back seat of an actual fighter going through all the maneuvers with the stunt pilots. Fun Fact Anthony Edwards, who played Goose in the original, was the only actor not to vomit during the dogfight sequence filming.

Giuseppe Improta only because thats pretty much the only footage they have. Filming was halted so TC could learn to fly the jets himself. They only film again later 2019.

Last time I saw Top Gun was 36 years ago. Yesterday I saw Top Gun Maverick with my 20 year old son. Asked him "How was it? ( he never saw the first one) . He answered "9.6/10".

I took my wife to see this movie, which is back in cinema's for a couple of weeks. WOW!! We were both absolutely engulfed in the film, the story , the characters. Dare I say it was better than the 1st, which is a classic. Great job to Tom Cruise and the entire cast and crew. I will definitely go see it again. Best movie in years.

I came after watching the movie on the first day, let me tell you tom cruise is a national treasure, the amount of effort he put in this movie to bring good movie to the screen, it's mind blowing, I cheered for a movie after a really long time , every aspect of the movie is pitch perfect. In the final credits , you would be waiting , if there was more.

I went to a private Blue Angels practice on the Pensacola Air Base and one of the planes did a dive and pulled up right above the run way and that bubble popped around the plane. Was the coolest thing I have ever seen in person!

I remember sitting at work and finding out that this trailer had dropped. I didn't even know that the movie was in the works. I was really shocked at how emotional and pumped I was to see it. I saw the original in the theater with my Dad and here we were 35 years later with the next chapter. I wish he had survived to see it. Great movie. Can't wait to see it again.

You do realise this movie was delayed because Cruise insisted he be filmed flying the jets himself, just like he did in the original. He’s already an experienced pilot. He went through training in the F-18 and the shots you see of him in the cockpit in the film are really him, in an F-18 that’s flying. So fuck his age.

Somehow Tom Cruise manage to go above the expectations for this movie. Absolutely amazing cinematography, atmosphere and style, as well as a respectful inclusion of Iceman into the storyline considering Van Kilmer's condition.

@@Jagerbomber There have been numerous sightings of an FA-18F (two-seat version of the Super Hornet) with *4* separate cameras looking into the back seat, while wearing the same paint scheme as the "CAG Bird" FA-18E (flash number 00) we see on the flight line. That's likely how they got the footage, including that gorgeous cat shot and the dive over the mountain ridge.
My two biggest questions are:
1. What exactly was Maverick flying that required a pressure suit?
2: Where's the Tomcat from?
