love or hate Tom Cruise ... to have a great movie ...... wait 30+ years and come back with this is just phenomenal..... one of the best sequels in cinema history
The maturity and growth shown by Maverick in this film versus the first was what I found most heartwarming. Gone is the cockiness of youth, replaced by the self-confidence of experience. He learned his lessons, now it’s time to pass them on.
Uh, it's not leaving your wingman as long as your in the engagement area which is a few miles. What sense would it make anyway to stay with in that scenario? clearly didn't grow. Doesn't know Basic Fighter Maneuvers. Also missiles don't chase aircraft lol. Plus a climb like in a 14 wouldn't make sense.
I love Hangman's reaction to the whole sequence when Maverick is proving the mission can be done. When it starts he's just smiling sitting back like "okay old man lets see it", and then when Mav's about to do it he's face is like "omg he's gonna do it" and when Mav hits the target all he can say is "dam". He thinks so highly of himself and is slapped with the realization in that moment that no, you aren't the best.
I like how he played the cocky pilot but also didn't take it over the edge anytime throughout the movie. He wished Rooster the best when he got picked and immediately wanted to take off and help. He eventually got a 5th gen kill in an F18 bragging rights as a reward.
i take it when they find out that it's Maverick flying the F-14 that they launch Hangman to help him get back - you just know Hangman is going to remind Maverick and Rooster that he saved their ass in his usual witty way
Old guy here. Loved the original, but this is better! I’ve seen it 7 times in the theater, but haven’t had a chance to buy the DVD. So many great scenes. The 5 minute scene with Val Kilmer and Tom is so dramatic it seems so real. Yeah, I teared up. Same thing at the end, when Rooster says, “it’s what my dad would have done.” It left me speechless. This is how you make a legacy sequel, probably a top 3 in sequels, in my opinion. Because the flying sequences are real, a movie like this will never be made again. I hope everyone enjoys this movie, it’s a one of a kind classic.

This was the first movie I saw in cinemas after the pandemic scare (with all the necessary precautions, of course!) . Must say, movies like these are made for big screen entertainment, reminding us as to why we go back to theatres. No streaming service can EVER replace the sheer enjoyment of movies like these on big screen. It would be awesome if they could re-release the digitally remastered version of original for the big screen.
Proving one’s point through actions - after the “door has been shut”, is one of the greatest challenges a man can go through. Respect gained could be dang genuine in the end. One of the best scenes.
The fact that all of Tom Cruise’s grunting, body movements, and physical stress is all real, not to mention the actual flying instead of CGI, green screens, and models, puts a whole other dimension to this film.
There is still a lot of CGI in this movie. Often there is only one real plane and the other 3 are CGI or spliced into the shot since the planes are too close together or doing things that wouldn't be safe for planes to do without damaging them. Also some cockpit scenes are filmed on the ground too, any that showed a shot from the floor of the plane between the pilots legs was on the ground since they couldn't fit a camera down there in an actual plane.
Watched it in IMAX and was definitely the most fun I've had at the cinema for many years. The nostalgia and nods to the original Top Gun film were pitched perfectly and the flight scenes are spectacular. Loved it.
Someday in the very near future you'll be able to download this movie into your VR helmet and it will make the IMAX experience seem like a silent movie 🎬

This is what was sorely needed in the box office, films like this. This movie was made with the intention of making a good movie, not to be all for woke culture and so on. It had all the aspects of culture without blatantly highlighting them. The focus was to tell a good story with epic movie scenes that surpass even the original film. Again, films like this are sorely needed which is a shot of American optimism that’s been depleted. I say this with tears in my eyes, thank you Tom Cruise for bringing back that nostalgia and renewing my faith in cinema.
Damn! This is such an awesome movie. I loved the first Top Gun as a kid, this was 2 hours of nostalgic goose-bumps. Action packed, emotional and funny. And I kinda like the way Hangman comes thru for the save at the end, it was a nice touch.
That kicked maximum ass. So many heart pounding moments, right behind watery eyes, exhilaration sadness fear, all unable to be define by a person watching, all so close to one another, one becomes the actor in the movie. Truly experiencing what that person felt, before what you thought would be imminent death.POW he made it.🇺🇸
I saw this movie in an IMAX, and when I walked out, heart pumping and breathless, I immediately invited friends and family to movie night. My nephew had never seen the original, so I told him to watch it before seeing TGM. It was just as good for me the 2nd time (and the 3rd, and the 4th, and the...) Amazing film.
"I am sorry Goose" - Brings tears to the eye. I grew up on the original (i was born in 86') and It was and probably still is my favorite movie. All I ever wanted was to be a fighter pilot. My uncle was a Navy fighter pilot and he was my hero. Crazy what a movie can do and mean to a person.

Best movie in a long time. GO TO THEATER do not watch at home, the sound was made for a theater and all the equipment was installed on the real aircraft. No special effects here. This is why we love action movies.
2:15 I love details like this, that button Mav pressed on the flightstick is the G limiter, it keeps you from going over 7.5 Gs when maneuvering, by disabling it he could exceed it and get a super high AoA and climb out of the dive.
@Just think yeah I get that. Propaganda is everywhere but these type of movies come from the time when the land of freedom and democracy narratives were strong while still surfing the WWII wave. After countless failed wars that left a mess in all those countries, that narrative is very damaged now. Nobody that can use their brain can believe in that stuff anymore. Same goes for Russia or China except they have harsher ways to install propaganda on their people. I just got worried after seeing the success of this movie and people like this guy saying it brings “optimistic energy”. Feels like a massive setback that could reinforce support for US military actions. These bunch of cool kids having fun as a team shooting down “the bad guys” should be banned. War is not a team sport that you go play abroad.
It's been such a long time since I watched a movie where it got the adrenaline going. If I could fly a jet, I would of jumped in and buzzed the tower, that is how pumped I was after I watched it. Unbelievable movie, it hit all the emotions
Top Gun: Maverick. The best movie I've ever seen. Far better than all the other sequels. A very believable continuation of the original Top Gun, but years later. Special kudos for the respect given to Val Kilmer in his character. Well done "Best Scenes" clips, also.
Everyone in the theatre leaned forward in their seat just like all the students getting ready to watch Maverick complete the task in 2:15. There's a very short list of quality sequals.....this is way up there.
What also makes this movie so good is due to the fact is in the cockpit shots through the pilots helmets you can see the reflection of the four imax cameras
"I am good, Rooster. I'm very good." Honestly, I think part of what he meant was that he was very happy that he saved his friends. This movie is way too good
for some strange reason, I always think that he just meant that he's Good Like I'm one of the best or even the Best. Maybe it's because his character is all about Ego, maybe more than Maverick before he lost Goose in the accident. Maverick here is the new Viper and Hangman is basically the new Maverick.
I am grateful that I can watch a movie like this again from a Hollywood superstar. Thank God Tom Cruise insisted to make the movie with very little CGI. The result is one of the best sequel in history.
I truly love it when the song "Don't get fooled again" plays in the dogfighting session in the movie theatre!!! Brings a smile to my face as it is one of my favorite songs (back in the time CSI Miami was still airing").
This is one excellent movie, last few months, I have taken 6 flights on different Airlines, I’ve watched this movie 4 out of 6 times. Just think it’s an excellent movie, great action, great story, great Actors, nice to Val Kilmer having a role, great touch. After watching this clip, think I’m missing out, so will watch it again before days out
Yep, I watched it in the theater first, then watched it again twice more going to and coming back from Vienna a couple months ago. The first time I saw the first one I was in the Navy, but serving on an Air Force base. Went with a few AF flight line guys and even a few pilots (C-5, A-10) jocks. I’ll never forget their reaction of the opening scene on the flight deck of the Carrier. They were all WTF!!!!! You Navy guys are frigging NUTS🤣
@@toddsharp4245 That is some amazing Job they do on those Carriers, Thank you & your pals, for your service, I was in the British Army, in the 80’s, The world has gone mad in those 40 years. I did though after watching this clip Yesterday, watch it again in the afternoon. Me & my dog, volume up. Amazing
Never got the chance to watch it in the cinema, but I did watch it on my 26 inch 5K screen at home. Great action and a worthy sequel. Word is, Kelly McGillids wasn't asked to return because she hadn't aged well...That's the only issue I can find with this movie. Although it may be a smart move after the fiasco called Terminator 6
One of the few sequels to an amazing original which exceeded expectations and surpass that original movie. The scene where Maverick shows up on target and destroys the expectations set by the program manager is just balls to the wall every time. Love it. The dog fighting sequence is also phenomenal. Takes a second to realize when he tells them that 200 push-ups is a lot, he is trying to subtly dissuade them from their stupid bet
TOP GUN: MAVERICK = MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. There's a "Mission Impossible" vibe on this movie. Especially when Mav & Rooster landed on enemy territory & found an F-14. 😎
When I heard that there was going to be a sequel to Top Gun, I thought nothing would beat the first one! How wrong I was! It's FANTASTIC. The best film I've seen in ages!!

@Just think I see. I still consider this a masterpiece.
What’s optimistic about it? More wars cause its fun?
@Just think ha! Yeah I was great on that one :)
Wife- you watched this movie in theater 4 times already.
Me- I'm going in anyway.😃
This is the Best Movie, Tom Cruise has Ever been in. 💯%💚👌👍🍀💪👑
technically this movie was not the bestfor real top guns but for fans, it was a perfect movie. Excellent sequel to Top Gun.
this movie deserves an oscar, come on, I know many people would consider this a crazy idea but it is my opinion
i totally agree
@alejobradley you are right..bro But Tell me the name of this movie
I'm with you
Got to acknowledge the Su-50
sharp turn is a beauty……it’s like a fast moving snake taking a sudden stop turning around and raising its hood
You are just brainwashed, thats why you rate it your best movie ever 😂😂
@@peterg91 What? That doesn't even make sense.
@@peterg91 Internet users when somebody has an opinion:
This movie is so amazing! I really like how it kept the nostalgic 80's feel. The plot is also unique.😄
I'm very good."
Honestly, I think part of what he meant was that he was very happy that he saved his friends.
This movie is way too good
I think Rooster should have had a line like, "I'm not sure which is worse - getting killed by the missile or getting saved by Hangman."
for some strange reason, I always think that he just meant that he's Good Like I'm one of the best or even the Best. Maybe it's because his character is all about Ego, maybe more than Maverick before he lost Goose in the accident. Maverick here is the new Viper and Hangman is basically the new Maverick.
I've watched this scene a dozen times. I'll keep watching it. It is gold.
I've done the same thing. I'd watch the whole movie over and over again if I could.
Part 2 is coming soon.
Sweet! Looking forward to it
@@Junior716 It's still playing in some theaters. Best place to watch it, if you ask me.
@@smarterthanyou9090 thank you. When I can find the DVD version it'll be top of my list of to gets
I would like to petition to have this movie in theatres every year during the week of 4th of July. And I’m not joking.
I am grateful that I can watch a movie like this again from a Hollywood superstar. Thank God Tom Cruise insisted to make the movie with very little CGI. The result is one of the best sequel in history.
And folks, we really have pilots like Maverick that can protect our skies😏
@Jimbo Bimbo Or not 😂
In real life, Maverick's recklessness would get him kicked out of the Navy before he even got into a real plane
Such an incredible movie. I've watched it like over 10 times already. Never gets old.
Basically the Death Star run but it takes skill instead of the Force.
Maverick is right up there with Luke and Anakin
The force is strong with this one.
But with no sad death lol
And the Death Star run was inspired by the Dam Busters
Your exactly right, that was actually based on that run in Star Wars!
I have a strong feeling 100 years from now when we are all dead, Tom will still be famously known as a cinema one-off legend who earned his paycheck
I loved TG1 when it game out in 1986? and waited for over 30 years for the sequel.
It was worth the wait and more!
Amazing
@@toddsharp4245 a squid impressed a couple AF lackeys? You don't say...
👈👈✈️✈️✈️😨😱😨😱
The more you watch these short videos, the more you urge to watch the movie again.. and again.... ❤
No politics, no SJW crap, no hidden agenda's. Just awesome fun and perfect escapism. Tom is a legend.
Hangman's F-18 coming through the smoke right as that classic Top Gun sounds hits is perfection.
I love both of the Top Gun Movies each movie was great during their time.
Einer der meistverkauften Filme, ich bin sehr froh, dass es solche Regisseure gibt)
Climax scene is a goosebump shot..🔥🔥🔥
Really thrilling..❤❤❤
My most rewatchable movie of 2022
Best movie in 10 years.
Unfortuneately i haven't seen the movie yet.........
But that was an Awesome Clip👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
The best scene is where the F-18s fly over the lake, scratching mach 1.
Most beautiful shot in the movie.
It's like Terminator 2 after the Terminator. Simply outstanding!
He is truelly pulled it off and made it even better 30 years later...! 😎👍
"all fun and games for the selfie wasn't it?" best line
I can watch this movie a hundred times
Smile, thanks for your love and support towards me 🌹
This should be obvious but the reply above me does not belong to the real Tom Cruise, it's an impersonation
Loved the callback to the original film with "There's a strategy I haven't seen in a while" LMAO over that line.
An excellent movie. Even my wife, who is not particularly a fan of action movies, loved it.
Man that just made me want to have day off work and watch it over and over
The movie of the year!
TOP GUN: MAVERICK = MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.
There's a "Mission Impossible" vibe on this movie.
Especially when Mav & Rooster landed on enemy territory & found an F-14.
😎
And of course the Cruise-Jog XD
Good point. It was absolutely ridiculous.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve watched this clip.
Best movie of Tom Cruise
When I heard that there was going to be a sequel to Top Gun, I thought nothing would beat the first one! How wrong I was! It's FANTASTIC. The best film I've seen in ages!!
