Man, thanks so much for this. I have a puffy jacket from spyder that is very warm, but it has no cinch cord on the bottom so cold air gets in wherever the wind blows. This should do the trick!

Instead of a wire hanger, try tying the cord to a closed safety pin to thread it through. It's very easy to maneuver through the channel & less risk of damaging the fabric.

    Amazing mod!
I have a cheap patagonia style down jacket i want to do this to.Its amazing that a cinch is not a standard feature on all down jackets.
How do you push the cord with the hanger?

How do you punch the eyelet without going through the backside of the hem? (on the jacket with the eyelets) - thank you so much, great info as I have been wanting to do this to all of my jackets/parkas.

Nice hack Olaf, I wonder if Berghaus take note, it's a good idea.

I think they discontinued this awesome and now rather unique coat! Hopefully Canada Goose and other like-jacket makers will take note and provide waterproof fabric on the outside to keep the insulation dry.

hi i see you replaced the drawstring on the yellow parka how did you do to get the drawstring locked at the other end ?
I see you have loops on both sides so i suppose you put a piece of drawstring folded in two on each side and then how did you lock the two lose ends in place on the other side ? I heve that problem on one of my jackets too and i don't know how to fix it

Hi! So after you cut the seams, it didn't open further? Thanks :) I'm thinking of doing this exact things to my parka!

no the tearing for holes do not expand. You can also add grommets/eyelet rivets to your cut holes to reinforce them and make it look professional. www.michaels.com/loops-and-threads-eyelets/10354176.html

..all terrain jackets should come with drawstring hem, they should know better. I don't feel like doing this, but I must.

and what is the item at 3:12? the back plastic thing at the front?

It is a zipper pull tab that I am using to achor the ends of the bungee to the coat. I did not want to stitch thru the fabric to anchor the ends of the bungee to the coat since it is a waterproof coat with waterproof fabric protecting the down feather insulation.

Video is almost 10 years old. I was super young and it was like one of my first attempts at this. Also I had no mic.
