I have done this a different way. I’ve removed the entire zipper, and trimmed length from the top, with an easy hand overcast stitch to keep the pull from coming off. (None of the alterations showed when I reinstalled the zipper. I needed to buy nothing extra, and the factory pieces stayed the same).
Oh my gosh, the timing is perfect! I broke the zipper pull off my winter coat almost 2 years ago and have been putting off fixing it this entire time because I thought it'd be difficult. 😂 Thanks for making it look easy. 💖
I like the jacket - and this is an excelente way to shorten a zipper. I don't have access to zipper kits in my country, but I can carefully open the base.
I enjoyed this video! I enjoyed all your video cause I learn something new or a different way to do something. I love how you able to do this without remove the entire zipper and track. Great job as always! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽❤️💯
Wow! I did not know there was zipper fixer kits. This is opening a brand new world for some of use that have broken zippers and don't want to buy a whole new one to replace it and if you go for getting it altered it going to cost you. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come
@@BlueprintDIY Right, once I found out how to fix a slider that was not working to close zipper, it open up options for what I would buy at thrift stores. You just have to clamp down on the sides but not to tight and it will then close the teeths. But now I see from using your link that Amazon sells every portion of a zipper. NOTHING CAN STOP US!
Looks so good! I bought trousers recently that I love but the zipper is so much long than it needs to be. Returning them would be easier but since the zipper is my only problem with them, I’m going to try this 😊
Yes! I enjoyed the video, this look, and this series. My alterations pile is definitely getting taller than me. This helped to refocus on the task at hand. ❤
Nice job! I got into sewing a couple years before covid. I started on a t-shirt quilt project, which is still on-going, then simple things like pot holders, place mats coasters, bowl cozies. I recently made a box seat cushion (no, no videos). I wanted make it with a zipper but the zipper I bought was too long for the one side of the cushion and I didn't know how to shorten it. Now I do! I love the energy. Keep up the good work!
Hello, I really liked the video. Thank you for posting it. The one thing I have to say tho, you were using cutting pliers so I was already wondering if you were going to break the little tip of the zipper which happened when you applied more pressure. We should use regular pliers for that
Cool, I had no idea you could buy these parts. I saw an off the shoulder blazer that looked so cool on Dubai Bling, awful show but the clothes are nice. I would love to see you upcyle something like that
Wow. U are good. I want to sew just like this with good ideas. I just have trouble amagining what can I do with old clothes. I dnt have the talent for that. You are good at it. I see your stuff and just say...wow
Use a clear drinking straw . Cut it open. Using a pressing cloth, press the straw flat. Check to see if it fits. Glue and sew it down. Look at how the original plastic it set in on the zipper. Hope this helps you.
Amazing!!!! Thank you so much for this video!!! I greatly appreciate the fact you shared the don't's. That is a huge help. And girrrl like always, love love loved it!!! Blessings. P.S Yes my alter pile is growing as well!!! ☺️
I am, absolutely, looking forward to this series. I do #mendingmondays with another UA-camr which helps me use Mondays to mend my clothes. Small repairs that I already know how to tackle, but I see that you tackle the hard stuff, like zippers. I've been afraid of changing zippers since I was a teen, so thank you for this video where I can refer to and making feel like I can tackle zippers
I’m sorry if you said hat on the video but I’m not fluent in English. My question is, couldn’t we do this with the original zipper stoppers? Take it out and then put them back higher?
Hi! I need help- ive replaced the zipper parts but the zipper is on both sides of the track since you said to leave it above where you cut. Now its basically stuck because i can bring it up but not down where i broke apart the teeth. How do i get the zipper to only the side with the bigger piece of hardware? At 6:23 you jump cut the video to this. How did you get the zipper only on the right?
Angelina, I have a rather technical strange question concerning zippers. I received a pair of winter boots knowing that my calves most likely would be wider than the boot. The boot is a military mukluk. So the top half is canvas and closed by a zipper. I don't want to cut the canvas. I want the boot to remain intact if possible as I want to make it mine! So, my question is this, is it possible to make a gusset and marry the two zippers together? I'm losing weight, so I'm hoping by the end of this winger the gusset won't be needed. Did I make any sense? I didn't know any other way to ask this besides here. Is there a better solution without cutting?
You can add a gusset under the zipper, but the zipper would stay open until you don’t need the gusset anymore. I think the only way to marry two zippers would be to find the exact same zipper.
In Costa Rica we can't buy the zipper accessories kit and it's Way too expensive to buy it on Amazon and have it shipped so are only solution is take it out and sew back in
OMG...I'm impressed! You made it look so easy. This is something I have always wanted to know how to do. I so appreciate you sharing. Thank you Angelina! Air Hug 🫂 💚
Amazing. Thank God for His love, mercy, protection, and creations, and thank God during the highs and lows and God bless you and all of us in Jesus Christ’s King of all kings blood that was shed and name we pray amen. 😊 Fantastica. Gracias a Dios por El amor, misercodia, proteccion, y creaciones, y gracias a Dios todo los dias mala o bueno y vayan con Dios a todos y yo en el sangre y nombre de Cristo Jesus Rey de reys amen.😊
Wonderful. Over 50 years of sewing and I never knew you could do this with a zipper. This opens up all sorts of possibilities.
Absolutely! I wish I knew this years ago.
Yes years of frustration poof......gone !!!
Thank you xxx
If you don't have fray check, you can always use clear nail polish.
That may not get hard, but it will prevent fray. We used to use that for panty hose runs back in the day. 🤭
How will clear nail polish help..??
I have been sewing for years, but that saying is true....you can teach an old soul new tricks!!!
Yes! An alterations series! Looking forward to watching!
Yes, please do the series. I have lots of alterations I need to do. Thank you!
I have done this a different way. I’ve removed the entire zipper, and trimmed length from the top, with an easy hand overcast stitch to keep the pull from coming off. Yayyy, so glad i could help!
I learn SO much from you. So, glad you showed how to do this!!
Yayyy, I'm so glad!
Thank you! This is sooo useful, now i can crop all my jackets with this tutorial :)
LOVE the jeans with the button over to the side, do you do a video on this? I think that’s a really interesting look!
Here’s the tutorial ua-cam.com/video/_bgF3XN2bX8/v-deo.html
@@BlueprintDIY OMG, thanks! And that skirt is awesome!! 💚💙💜

This is so genius!!! I was just thinking of seeing a zip up jacket!!! Great job! Didn’t know these replacement pieces existed!!!! Wow!
I had to do this to a utility jacket. I’m glad you shared this video.

Yeah even if we see stuff in the thrift store for really cheap with a broken zipper. Now we can fix it.

Love how you styled and that you showed your mistakes!
Thank you!!
I learned something new today. Thank you so much. May you please take care and stay safe.
Thank you 💕
Thanks for posting! Will be using this DIY to mend my winter coat. The zipper tape with the pin ripped and its incredibly difficult to zip.
Looks so good! I bought trousers recently that I love but the zipper is so much long than it needs to be. Returning them would be easier but since the zipper is my only problem with them, I’m going to try this 😊
How did know I was struggling with zippers. Video was so on time for me. ❤️ you answered so many questions I had and gave me new ideas. Blessings
Yayyy, I’m so glad! 😁

Thanks Tiffany! I have stuff that’s been sitting in-fixed for way too long. 😆

Can you do this with a plastic/nylon separating zipper? I can’t find a kit with the pin and stopper. Thanks
This is SO cool! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤
Thanks 😁

Well done congratulations Angelina
Thanks ☺️
This is great I didn't know they sold those pieces to repair where can I purchase them?
I got mine on Amazon.
I would have ripped out the zipper and bought a new separating zipper to put in the length I wanted. Never knew this was a possibility .
can you do the same for plastic zippers?
Love it!!!💝💝💝
This is nice.
I’m sorry if you said hat on the video but I’m not fluent in English. My question is, couldn’t we do this with the original zipper stoppers? Take it out and then put them back higher?
If you can get it off without damaging it, Yes 👍🏾
Great job
You can also singe the frays with a flame, just be careful
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Thanks 👍🏾
Love this
I wrecked the zipper on my jacket but because I didn’t use the fray stop like an idiot. Lesson learned! Follow directions! Lol
