  • The Street Scrambler 900, is Triumph's most interesting cross between an easy-going classic and a hardcore adventurer. Find out if this middle-ground of a heavy-middleweight has what it takes to do well on the shattered pavement of the Philippines. In this Beyond the Ride review, Jinno saddles up on the 2023 Triumph Street Scrambler 900 to find out if it is a great middle-ground or a bit of a lost explorer in the lineup.

    I love this bike. This was my first big bike. Very beginner friendly, very light and very good looking. Heat from the pipes are not an issue unless youre wearing shorts.

    I brought that same bike to La Union as a loaner from Triumph last week, and I had so much fun with it. The engine output’s just right for the provincial highways and the expressway, that low end torque is fun once you twist the throttle, and the relaxed riding position is the best part. As for the heat, I find it manageable too, I just keep my right leg up while on a standstill or I just move the leg further away a bit. But once you move especially on freeway speeds, that heat is gone and you can grip the tank (or exhaust) freely.

      Yup, I have the 2022 1200XC, the exhaust situation isn’t as severe as some make it. It’s a motorcycle and you’re going to get some heat. You’re going to get wind and noise. It’s a bike.
      If you can’t get thru your head, then drive a car.
      I love the triumph scrambler !

    Heat from the exhaust…. I picked my one up one 2 weeks ago. And have been riding it in some onfthe hottest weather in England we have had for years.
    All the time your are traveling on the open road you don’t notice the heat from the pipes.
    If you ride it around town all day in hot weather then yes you feel the heat rising up.
    Sitting stationary at traffic lights isn’t a problem with heat on the leg from the exhaust as much as the general overall heat rising up from both the exhaust and the engine.
    I sometimes find myself putting my left foot down at the lights and leaning the bike to the left slightly because this naturally manoeuvres the right thigh away from the pipe.
    [its not hot enough to burn you, but if you hold your leg on it for several minutes it does start to get uncomfortable]
    But as mentioned above as soon as you start moving again to don’t notice the heat.

      I wore relatively short shorts on my first ride in my 1200. It burns a bit, but doesn't actually "burn."

    I have the same bike, also my first manual bike. Great for beginners, good for light offroad, and a reliable long ride buddy! Already took mine for a solo bicol loop, and it didn't disappoint. Even went light off roading to Kiudkad, Siruma and it performed really well on the trail. Heat? If you are not wearing pants, definitely an issue, but still found a way around it. In traffic, the heat is still bearable just like any other big bike, and definitely better than aircooled ones. You don't have to worry too much on the pipes (they look really cool btw) touching your skin all the time due to the relaxed position on the bike, even for your pillon. Love my bike, and I hope more riders would give it a chance.

      Does it burn if your leg or pillion's leg touching the pipe when riding in city tropical weather when you are wearing shorts?

    • @cesmae22
      @cesmae22 8 місяців тому +1

      @@francizz You'll feel a sting once you touch the pipe's heat shield when its hot but not exactly burn you straight away. I sometimes ride on shorts and the only time it would touch my inner thigh (lower), not leg, is when I shift my weight to the right to engage 1st gear from neutral. A workaround I did was to make sure I have some sort of fabric like a small towel to place in between my thigh and the heat shield of the pipe should I need to do so. As for the pillon rider, I had friends who were scared for their legs to burn. 🤣 So they open their legs quite exaggeratedly. But my sister who had ridden a couple of times never had issues getting burned or touching the pipes. During traffic, she does feel warm on the legs but not to a point where she is uncomfortable.

      @@cesmae22 Thank you for sharing! I really love everything about this bike, just this heat from my is worrying me.

    • @cesmae22
      @cesmae22 8 місяців тому +1

      @@francizz Most big bikes do heat up but distribution of the heat may be different for each one. Just think about this, nobody would be keeping this bike if heat is an issue. There are ways to go around it. But I do understand, some have different levels of tolerance, so it may be best to test it first to see if its meant for you.

      I know for SE Asian market that's a huge market but I remember Mr. Jinno saying that this channel is meant to even reach other regions of the world where smaller displacement bikes are not even available. Also, I think that's why the format is in English for the most part. I do miss smaller displacement bikes also.

      There are multiple reviewers of small bikes 1 less isn't a problem. A lot of the small bike also have very minor changes every year so unless a big change happens it's unlikely to be featured again especially if they have access to motorcycle majority of reviewers here don't.

    The best part of triumph speed / scrambler was its twin meter console. I loved the view from the bike. They ruined it with this single meter console which also looks cheap compared to the other model.
