This show is the hardest thing to hit Poland since Blitzkrieg.
Best damn comment of this occasion, then came the soviet tanks....we lost alot of great Russian Comrades....but put that precious flag in berlin, sadly those days died
And the writers trying to protect it have built the Maginot Line of Wokeness? "You cant go after nonsensical writing, character motivational screw ups, or faithless adaptations! Attack the politicsssss, the race of our actors, the genderrrssss! That's all we are prepared to defend!"
@Comrade20 oh was that after the peace pact with the nazis was broken? And after the Soviet invasion of Finland?
@@Boromir2k1 yes, which we won, and amazing how the most dangerous people rhat are nazis lost against a season, you were so so so close, hell they even had an SS division in Lviv, Ukriane
@Comrade20 Not sure what you mean by "you" some of my family was from a country the Nazis invaded.
I just find it interesting that the Soviets were more than happy selling iron and materials to Germany for their warmachine in France and pretend like the Soviets single handedly defeated the Nazis when they did not fight on several fronts
On behalf of fanfic writers everywhere...this isn't even bad fanfiction, because even the bad fanfic writers have at minimum a cursory understanding of the source material.
Isn't that a testament to how low IQs have dropped?
I'm reading an Avatar fafic atm, and it's fantastic. Scratches the itch the show left 15 years ago.
Yeah. Fanfic comes from the term FAN, as in someone who LIKES the source material enough to want to do something based on it.
Fanfiction can also sort of just turn into its own thing if it goes far enough in the right direction. I mean Dragon Age almost takes stuff from the Witcher verbatim at times. The real trick is you need to have actual love of the work and its ideas and really you can write almost anything.
@@spartanhawk7637 Morrigan is a copy of Yennefer.
The Grey Wardens are just witchers.
The Magi Circles are the lodge stand in.
DA Elves are verbatim Witcher elves.
Lauren doesn’t care about the source material. This was know in 2018 when she didn’t want Ciri to be white. She also wanted Ciri to be the lead not Geralt. She blamed trolls and racists when people objected. The article is online.
jeesus that woman
Why stop there? Lets make Geralt asian, Zoltan a literal midget and Yennefer an intersectional feminist. And why we are at it, lets make Dandelion homosexual, Triss a black, handicapped lesbian and Philipa Eilhart a post transition Transsexual.
And change the setting to a f***ing college campus so all of them fit in.
Seriously if you don't like the source material and want to change it all why even bother?
Somehow I knew back in 2017 when it was announced that Netflix would do a Witcher series that it was going to deviate from the books and games because it was going to be written by American Hollywood liberals that would find the original work problematic, so they would start making things up.
Tbf, Ciri kinda becomes the lead later on on the books, so her being the lead from the beginning in an adaptation is not the worst thing ever. Her being white tho, mate she was born on a noble house in a cold region ,no way she can be white, these writters I swear
Then don't take the job? She is obviously unqualified for the position.
"Did you watch the 4 episodes of Witcher Blood Origin?" No, but I've watched about 12 hours of it getting roasted on youtube, thanks for the memes netflix!
I have watched not one second of She-Hulk, Rings of Prime, Obi-Wan, Boba Fett, Willow, or the new Witcher show, but I have watched - easily - 300 hours of YT content creators picking it all apart. Too bad the entertainment industry seems determined to ignore downvotes.

@Diomedes hmm interesting,...though I must say that I would be interested in seeing the sequel to the movies with Arnold :) I mean Arnie returning to the role one last time as King Conan might have been nice...also if they based on the Scarlet Citadel story or the Hour of the Dragon nicely combining the movie and the literary roots of Conan from Howard stories :)...but the tv show would be nice...that is if they managed to do it right...but knowing today it's impossible.
On the topic of the Barbie movie, just a little something to make you laugh. The "creator" of Barbie copied the doll directly from a doll she purchased while on vacation in West Germany in the mid 1950's. But she didn't buy it in a toy store, she bought it at a newsstand. Which is odd but she didn't question it. Turns out the doll, which was intended for adults - mainly men - was based on a comic strip character from the major daily newspaper, hence why it was sold at newsstands. The character in the comic strip was a call girl. So the wholesome Barbie doll is based on a hooker. Mattel eventually got sued and had to buy out the rights to the German hooker doll. LOL.
Hookers are human too, aren't they? Hence the doll was based on a adult sex doll which was based on what is generally considered sexy i.e. feminine. Now the punch line is also that this creator of Barbie did not know the doll was an adult doll at the time, right? It's not as if she went to look for a sex doll and said, "Ok let me subvert family values this way...".
DDR in the 50s? Did many Americans vacation in the DDR? I also wonder who held the original copyright if it was in the DDR, the Commies did not produce sex toys. Was it a left over doll from the Nazi era?
@@peterc.1419 Apologies, I meant to write West Germany. The copyright of the character belonged to the newspaper Bild (which means Daily I believe). They contacted West German toy maker O&M Hausser in regards to making a doll of their character. Now this is where it gets complicated. Mattel started manufacturing Barbie in the US in 1959 without acquiring the rights to the original doll. Basically they just ripped it off. In or prior to 1961 an American toy company named Louis Marx and Company acquired the rights to the Bild Lilli doll and then sued Mattel, I think jointly with O&M Hausser. Mattel counter-sued and settled out of court in 1963. Then in 1964 they bought the copyright and patents for the doll from O&M Hausser. However that hasn't stopped them suing Mattel. I think the last time was in 2003. I believe this case was related to the dolls sold by Mattel between 1959 and 1964 that O&M Hausser wasn't paid anything for rather than those sold after Mattel acquired the rights from O&M Hausser. Why it took them 40 years to sue I don't know.
In 1967 Mattel made significant changes to Barbie, changing both her face and body so that she did not resemble the original doll at all. I think this was done to avoid having Barbie's image tarnished by people finding out where she originally came from. However, interestingly, Mattel started using the original doll (body face and body) again about 20 years ago for it's most expensive range of collector dolls. At one point they did a collection of dolls with different skin tones and hair colours where the dolls were just dressed in different types of lingerie. Maybe that was them embracing Barbie's origins since the cat is most definitely out of the bag regarding where Barbie came from.
And yes, the joke is that a naïve American woman copied a doll that was intended for adults and based on a character who was a prostitute (you can call her a "sex worker" if that makes you feel better) and then sold it as a wholesome doll to children. It's funny.
@@danielgillespie7899 Hi, I don't have issues calling prostitution prostitution. Sex work is PC talk, originally an attempt to make it easier for prostitutes to seek medical care and try to avoid the baggage in medical literature but now has been co-opted by those who want to make it a wholesome kind of job the way a postman or accountant are.
It's just that one is committing the genetic fallacy when one says that something is invalid because it was based off something else, for example people claim Christmas is invalid because the early Church co-opted a pagan holiday. Prostitutes are people too and people aren't born or change their bodies into prostitutes. In this case this American woman co-opted a sex doll which was based off a design of a human female of the body type that men find attractive. Also there is no particular prostitute body type. Is someone with wide thighs and big breasts a prostitute? No.
That's all I meant. Thanks for clarifying. I don't care for large corporations myself. I do get your irony. Best.
@@peterc.1419 Still one of my favorite lines from the show "Archer":
"Cyril, you wasted a PERFECTLY GOOD HOOKER!"
@@danielgillespie7899 Bild does not mean daily, but image, or picture. Actually, I don't know why that newspaper is called that, apart from that it is mostly pictures, and little text. It's the embodiment of sensationalist yellow press in Germany, and "Bildzeitungsleser" -- bild newspaper reader -- is not something you want to be known as in Germany. And to my knowledge, there are still somewhat lewd pictures of women on the first or second page.
That the Barbie doll started out like that I did not know.
"Who are you and how did you get in here?"

I grew up in a small town so poor we all lived in dirt huts.
All the men were required to work as guards for the town bank, which was a huge building built of stone. Of course none of us could afford to deposit anything in it. I wonder how they kept operating. Whenever the bank was closed all the men had to operate the town's jail. It was okay that it was only staffed half the time because nobody ever stayed longer than that. I always thought this all was strange because any woman could easily beat up all the men. Why would you hire men for those jobs? Weird.
All the women were required to work at either the brothel or the tavern. Or both. Of course none of us could afford to patronize either establishment. I wonder how they kept operating. The women were all abused constantly even though any of them could easily beat up a dozen men. Strange that no man was ever worried about repercussions, especially since they were all working at the jail.
None of us, of course, had any time for farming or other pursuits. I assume all other towns were just like ours.
😂😂😂
This is beautiful

I was just on RT looking at the reviews for the monstrosity that is Witcher: BO, and it's so bad that most of the critics couldn't fake it this time - it's got a 35 score. But re the good reviews, I think I caught of one of them (from the Sydney Morning Herald) being dishonest about having seen the show. Because he mentions the 6 episode length being "thankfully succinct". And of course this has 4 eps- it was *filmed* as 6, but they cut it down to 4, reportedly because of bad test screenings.
I noticed that too. Another fraud reviewer who gave this travesty =>7/10 without watching it.

I’m an actor, I like to call SAG-AFTRA the “union in name only”. They claim they exist for the betterment of all artists involved, cast and crew. When in reality they’re all eating kids for Satan at the top and us plebs gotta deal with the union’s bullshit down here or else we never advance in our careers. You are never considered a professional actor unless you join the union and with it comes all of its liberal nonsense.

The best way to make a movie based on a game is to base it on the universe the game takes place in and not the story of a specific game.
The stupidity of The Witcher/Blood Origin is truly haunting.
Having midgets play dwarfs is dumb. Midgets are humans with birth defects, which shows in every aspect of their physique, their vice-gripped faces and stunted arms and legs, and it causes them great infirmities that cut their lives short. Dwarfs are a separate species that is simply less tall than humans by nature. They are not weak, they are strong, even stronger than humans. They are not ugly, they have their own tough aesthetic. And they live for centuries. I.e. they are the opposite of midgets.
fair enough, but where exactly do we find short enough people to play dwarves otherwise?
@@krispykrim3532
No need. The right camera angles would achieve the same effect. (Case in point - Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.)
To be fair, there is a German actress who basically just stopped growing at ... 10 years old. And she literally looks like a normal, healthy woman, just scaled down. Not many such actors though I figure.
As much as I feel for people afflicted with such conditions who want to actors, but I agree with your point.
The thing with cursing in fantasy is that it was almost exclusively used for the rougher characters, ie sellswords, thugs etc. Now it's every character to show how "adult" fantasy can be.
@@arwenstrong2818 And the handful of characters that show some level of actual maturity(not swearing every 2 seconds like an angsty teenager or immediately acting like a degenerate at every given chance) are brutally killed off for cheap shock value. I do love GoT but GRRM needs to broaden his definition of "realism" if he believes it's just gore, rape, and excessive swearing.
@@arwenstrong2818 I have read George Martin's book, your criticism is unwarranted. The majority of characters never swear. There is violence and sex, yes - be shocked. His goal was to write realistic Middle Ages, and he did. He wasn't even going to include magic, his publisher practically forced him to do it. He didn't include the ridiculous "boy from the country is brought by great sage on great journey and defeats the Evil One that threatens the entire world," the formula hacks have copied from Tolkien endlessly - in Martin's world the feudal society has, you know, feudal conflicts. It's the noble houses who do things. And they marry away their children to form pacts. They have wars that end in negotiations instead of cataclysms. They have both opportunists and idealists. It's what realistic fantasy should be. What is absurd, however, is how blond hair is the sign of evil - the blond Targaryens and the blond Lannisters. Only a woman and a midget are good while the tall blond men are evil. Dany's blond brother beats her and insults her, and rides a carriage while everyone else rides to show how weak he is, but he is killed by the superior dark-skinned Dothraki who Dany sides with. And among the Starks, the beautiful blond girl is bad and betrays her sister, lies for the sake of the psychopathic blond Lannister who gets an innocent brown-haired farmer boy killed. She even gets her own wolf killed. While her sister is brown-haired and ugly, so she is of course superior and spiritually connected to her wolf. And the black-haired son is bastard-born, so of course as an outcast he is the best of them. Typical leftist propaganda.
@@Grasslander Sansa is a redhead... GRRM is doing a small subversion there because blond hair is often associated with a dashing hero. He goes a bit far for me, but we do gotta remember that he was writing these books decades ago so it was pretty cutting edge at the time. I do find it annoying how his modern sensibilities are so front and center of his book, but hey that's the rub
Well explained. Game of Thrones books are extremely well written historical medieval fantasy. Once you get into them - they're page turners, like comic books. I really enjoy the First-Person PoV.
Last Action Hero was brilliant and hilarious! One of the best parodies ever made.
Alas one line in that film ring all too true “…in the real world evil can win. “
"Y'know, tar actually sticks to most people..."
22:30 this point about an outsider girl coming in and ending up dead because she started something is literally a point that is addressed in the Witcher 3. In the first area of the game, Geralt and Vesemir get into a scuffle with some drunken men who are harassing the barkeep because she has the Teremian coat-of-arms up (Teremia has been annexed by Nilfgaard at this point) and end up killing them. But instead of being cheered, the witchers basically get run out of town and are only saved cuz Yennefer shows up with Nilfgaardians and gets them out. The game does so much of a better job at showing how "no good deed goes unpunished" and how actions do have consequences, even if they are well-intentioned, because as it turns out you can't just kill locals and expect a round of applause.
I love when Mauler slowly loses his mind

Love it so amusing
Amazon paid Netflix to make this "show". So Rings of power wouldn't be the worst show of 2022. What a year it was :)
The thing to remember is that Hollywood was not doing that well in early 2020, and then suddenly, there was this huge captive streaming audience at home that gave the market a huge boost. Now those days are over, while at the same time, Hollywood has doubled down on "the message", and people are getting fed up with it.
This is the new era of Siskel and Ebert. I liked watching them when I was a kid.
I understand why Gary and the Drinker, as well as other creators in the comics/gaming/movies crowd, watch these shows...I mean, I actually applaud them for watching it bc I refuse to give these companies my viewership, bc that's all they want...they think they can piss us all off, but we will watch it anyway, just to see how badly they disrespect us, and our favorite IPs. I can watch TCD or Nerdrotic and get all the info about how terrible the shows are and not be another win for them, and I really wish more people would abstain from rewarding the destruction of our lores with their view...I actually think the more people who watch it and hate what they've done, the happier they are to be in control of it, to destroy it, bc so many fans of the IP will watch it like: 'It's the only Witcher show we got...'
It won't matter if you watch it or not if your subscribed to their streaming service. That's what makes then money.
I think the amount people who will not watch because Mauler and Co.'s videos are much outnumbers the amount subscribtion they have to pay for watchin the shows. + Who said they doesn't use "alternative metods" to watch this shows?
At this point I'm relatively certain that the only people watching shows like this now ARE UA-camrs, taking one for the team so we can laugh at their recaps instead of suffering....
Exactly. That's why the only bits of any of these I've seen is thru critics of it. Give them $0. Don't consume any of their products.

Literally stamping the LOTR brand on it turned off the very people they were hoping to draw in. And apparently they had access to Peter Jackson but decided they didnt need him?

It's at least 4 for 1. We seem to forget what they did to wheel of time
If you can't manage a paint by the numbers series like wheel of time, film making is just not for you.
Wheel of Time is so middling-average that people forget about it a few months later. Blood Origin seems to be so bad that you have to take a long time venting all the negative emotions.
@@antonjohansson3819 Describing the Wheel of Time as average is terrifying, have our standards fallen so much? It's a trainwreck that removes all flavor from characters while simultaneously mangling them.

I actually found it hilarious that the original author of the Witcher books just considers the games and show a bunch of, his words "Fanfics". That's probably the best silver lining approach on someone destroying your franchise out from underneath you I've ever seen
Well he did steal a lot of ideas for the Witcher while he worked as a translator for western fantasy novels during the cold war. People like that tend to always put down works based on "their" stories roughly out of spite and insecurity but honestly I can't even hold it against him. I wouldn't let any foreign culture butcher my works to begin with but if they did I would distance myself as far as fucking possible, especially if it served some self destructive political ideology.

No mention of Dune? That was quite a good movie, and there's a video of Villeneuve where he says, like Jackson before him, that he wanted to bring the book to the screen, keeping his own views out of it. Well worth the watch and definitely a good clip for future use for you, Drinker.
I have to agree with Professor Tosspot from Voxis Productions. Villeneuve's Dune lacks visual flare and is more like a generic sci-fi movie from 2015. The movie nerfed all the weirdness out and it's so dreary to watch. The score for that movie also convinced me that Hans Zimmer sucks. He's no longer challenged and can no longer even convey emotions with his music now.
Dune came out in 2021; they are talking about what came out in 2022.
@@dragonknightleader1 I actually preferred the new Dune over the old as it managed to squeeze out the odd Flash Gordon aesthetics from it.

I feel bad for Lenny Henry, he clearly just wants to do a fantasy role and some more serious acting now that hes a bit older, and to be fair to him, I havent actually hated him in either Blood Origin or Rings, he really tried to do the best job with he could with some shit material. You have soo much potential Brother. Would love to see you explode! You definitely deserve it sir 🤘
Watching these old streams is pretty cool
14:15 I honestly think that they thought the song would rival (and of course actually SURPASS) the amazing song by Priscilla in Witcher 3 (just search for "The Witcher 3 Soundtrack OST - Priscilla's Song" and watch the first one wiht 8.5 MILLION views alone, a SONG video got more views than this show will ever get LOL), but... like you said, they never had any real build up or anything so nobody really cared. They just kinda forced it out and hoped people would just be like "WOW THE SONG!!! WOW SONG GOOOD"
@James Yep, if you've read the novels it takes on a much different feel. CDPR did an AMAZING job animating Geralt's little expressions and mannerisms in this scene; you can tell that even though at first he's, while not quite bored, almost just tired, then he realizes what the song is about, and it actually manages to move him by the end, to a standing ovation for Priscilla...
Who said Witchers don't have feelings?
@James That's the real reason I absolute HATE, with passion, these new 'woke' 'updated' garbage movies and shows being shat out. Sure, everyone just says "If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it (and they usually add on 'besides it's not for YOU, the toxic fandom, anyway!!! it's for more MODERN audiences!!!')!!!!!!" But it's like, take Star Wars, SW is forever ruined by the JJ Abrams/Rian Johnson trilogy. I don't care that some shows like mandalorian and andor are supposedly 'pretty good' when they are shadowed by the garbage Disney pushed out already. There's no coming back from that, considering Disney will never give up such a costly goose, so we won't ever see a remake/retelling.
TL;DR Netflix shat all over not just their own show verse, but the whole Witcher IP with this crap.
Alatriste with Viggo Mortensen was a great movie, that repeatdly had scenes in it, that looked like a painting out of the time periode it was depicting by Rembrand. 🙂
Great movie, watch it, if you didn't so far.
From The FUTURE: Wait until you get to July 2023... It Doesn't Get Any Better
It seems old Harfwits never die, they just go to other shows and whip out their harfwood. 😕
_Oh my._
I had no idea Gary was a venture bros fan, if you've never seen it, definitely check it out
He has been trying to get MauLer to watch it for a year if not more.
But the LongMan needs longer days it seems.
A thought just occurred to when they were talking about Indy jones.
Anyone else remember a film called Romancing the Stone?
Happy New Year, guys!
I disagree that blood origin isn’t as bad as kenobi. Bruh they made the dude who leads the wild hunt a puny gay man who pillow talks too much to his boyfriend. Thats like making darth vader a transgender wearing a biden harris shirt
On the sign language bit: Why didn't an imaginative mind create an ELVEN sign language? ...don't know!
Don't care how ist that?
Watched to much Random Film Talk
To be fair, they aren't speaking the Elven language... they're speaking English. We just UNDERSTAND they're speaking Elvish. I'm sure we can have the same understanding for sign language.
All hail Lord Drinker should be a thing.
Andrew Tate living in a multi-million dollar mansion, with a large number of expensive cars, but authorities didn't know he was there until a pizza box was scene - that story is less believable than a batwoman episode
Yeah it's like they weren't tracking his flight, monitoring his land or building purchase or any amount of transactions and somehow were able to track his one pizza delivery because somehow that one pizza place was only delivering to Tate that day.
"Edgy the Hedgy". I'm dyin' here!
The new season of The Orville that came out this year was really good and I believe Strange New Worlds was this year and it was surprisingly not shit. The movies Dune, The Northman and Top Gun Maverick were all great. Reacher and The Terminal List were fantastic. There are some thing still out there.
The villain of Temple of Doom is Amrish Puri. He's a LEGEND of Indian cinema and played genre-defining villains all his life. I'm Indian btw.
2:28:00 "Alatriste" was the most expensive film production in Spain at it's time in 2006 and is staring Viggo Mortensen, who spoke his lines completely in nearly flawles Spanish! It is a history epic and reeeally worth watching!
