To think that The Witcher the Show was initially supposed to be helmed by THE guy from CD Project Red who directed the cinematics of Witcher 3 (which are ALL fantastic, every single one), is a huge fan of the source material, and had complete storyboards and a great vision - and he got kicked out and swapped for Lauren is such a slap in the face, too. You could see in season 3 , they were leaning heavily from going away from the books. What I don't understand is the Witcher story is a woke story, about a young girl who is extremely powerful, along with all the powerful mages who actually distrust the male wizards due to their lust for power. The story is perfect for the modern era. But No, woke culture can't accept one strong male character in any show they watch, its completely delusional and ridiculous at this point. Its literally the opposite of equality, its actively putting down the male gender not about enhancing females.

    • @nicholastuttle2445
      @nicholastuttle2445 Рік тому

but by woke standards (men are terrible and stupid) its not woke enough. Geralt, Vesemir, Eskel, Emyr Var Emris, and many others are smart, capable and dangerous which is unacceptable to the woke Hollywood writer. For woke writers all male characters must be stupid and inept, unless they are evil in which case they are skilled and competent until easily taken out by the female main character.

I love how laid-back open bar is. Everybody lets each other talk, and even when two people start talking at the same time, the default response is for both of them to stop and say "go ahead." I admit I enjoy the laid back, polite atmosphere of open bar. But FNT's chaos is part of what makes it great. Sometimes it does get out of hand, and IMO it's Az that is the biggest issue, but if they started acting like they do here on open bar, you wouldn't enjoy nearly as much. And that chaos generates so many funny situations and memes; I love open bar, but I never laugh a tenth as much as I do at FNT.

I've been a fan of Dredd and 2000AD since the 80s, and still have my Dredd novels somewhere. It was a good version of the idea of Dredd. I think the perfect Dredd film is more towards 2012 than the 1995 Stallone film, but I think they needed to put in a bit more dark comedy. However, it's still a great film, and deserves more recognition. Even Karl Urban would like to come back and do another film. The MCU is suffering from a few issues. 1 is bad writing and identity politics. 2 Is that it use to be a big screen special event that you could go see with friends or family. There was value in the rarity. And there's burn out in that sense, they have made the mcu too generic and accessible. 3. There's no Avengers front liners holding the heroes together anymore, characters we care about and know will bring the group back for a big screen event. Since phase 1 to 3 did this so well, we now expect it which segues into my final factor. Number 4, lack of direction. The mcu feels like a jumbled mess with no direction. I think it would be smart of them to end a movie soon with a cliff hanger that brings the new Avengers team together hinting that the next movie will be the next Avengers movie. This last point is why you create stories using a structure, people find value in organization. Order, not chaos.

If they constantly bring out bangers, we don't grow tired of them.

Opening night, the place is packed, I'm stepping over people because it's a movie theater where they serve dinner so I was doing the waiter thing. A mother and her 18-20 year old college age daughter who's home for the holidays are watching the movie as I squeeze past. Jason Momoa drops onto the scene in the submarine, shirt off, soaking wet, turns around with the smolder look, and he says, "Permission to come aboard." I shit you not, the 18-20 year old college girl gasps "H*ly fuck!" right in front of her God, her mom and everyone.

The MCU issue is not that there is franchise or genre fatigue. The MCU took a turd when Disney (Iger) gave Kevin Fiege complete reign over the MCU. Phase 4 is the first phase of the MCU where Ike Pearlmutter has not had any say. He was the guy that kept Fiege grounded. Its not that Pearlmutter was perfect. He was not. However he was not afraid to tell Fiege that idea wont sell or that the story was crap. Kevin does not have that governor anymore. Fiege need someone in there who looks at these stories from a business perspective. Right now he does not have that and it is not working.

Imho, the 1958 Dunkirk was both a better movie and also a better account of the event, with a more engaging cast. It is also very grim and bleak at times, perhaps very painful for the audience of that time. There are some clips on YT eg "Stukas!".
One thing I found strange about the Nolan version was that it seemed to make little use of CGI, to the extent that parts of the film look like it was made in the 1960s. CGI is often overused, but it can really help to take the audience back in time and place. The 2013 'Stalingrad' overdoes the CGI at times, but also does it well, constructing a convincingly devastated city, in which everything is covered in grit and grime.

*Question:* Was anyone REALLY satisfied with the Witcher and are they looking forward to it continuing into Season 4; let alone Season 3? If not, does that mean we have “Fantasy Fatigue”? House of the Dragon would disagree…
Although I don’t agree much with Jeremy, I’ve been in the same line of thinking that it’s not so much a [insert Genre] Fatigue, but a BAD STORY Fatigue we are going through. Start putting out Super Hero Movies where there is Care & Respect for the Source Material WITH a Good Story, people WILL watch it! Which btw, people looking forward to Henry Cavil FINALLY playing the Superman we want will prove my point.
And to answer Little Platoon’s question of how do we get over this Bad Writing “Phase”, it’s REALLY EASY! Barely an Inconvenience!
All you have to do is STOP Hiring and get RID of these UNQUALIFIED SJW, CRT, Agenda Driven, Misandrist Diversity Writers who (let’s admit it here) HATE the IP they’re working on and PURPOSEFULLY destroy the Franchise because they enjoy (said by a writer & critics on Twitter), “drinking up the Man-Babies Tears they filled their mugs with.” It’s sickening!
It’s so bad now that EVEN IF you put in Writers and Producers who are brand spanking new to the film making process BUT Respects the Material and Genuinely WANT to make a Great (hate to use the word) PRODUCT, it would be 1000x’s better and MORE watchable than what we have now!

It's easy to do a psychological drama about the predator.
Simply tell it from the perspective of someone who is living near the Predators lair. They think the Predator is their demon, their drug-induced, or psychosis-induced horror that haunts the attic of the nearly dilapidated abandoned building that they're still a tenant in or what have you. Imagine hearing the footsteps of the Predator every night above you, or blood dripping down from your ceiling from its cleaned prey, or you hear the rough alien language of some "demonic" being.
And then you have the person we're following start to believe that they themselves are a serial killer, so you get to see people being killed on the news or around his area of living and he thinks it's all connected to him. Ofc, the only reason he's still alive is because he never has a weapon around the predator. He sees the predator and he even interacts with it sometimes in tense moments we're simply dismisses him as unworthy prey because the state of a psychology or his physical being. It would be truly interesting if he was perhaps disabled with the limp or a deformity which is why the Predator would not want him.
You then have a moment where he decides that he has to deal with this and he thinks that himself being the cause must take responsibility and therefore tries to hunt the Predator through his own dilapidated building. He then goes on a battle with the predator whereby he strips it of its weapons and its defenses to where it is just an animal now the same as him and the battle progresses through the building into the lower subway tunnels.
Naturally he does not come out unscathed but he's had years of preparation now because the Predator had made the mistake of dismissing this unworthy prey. , you can even throw in a cop that does courtesy calls or something has some kind of connected to him and he comes in behind seeing all the destruction and the chaos that the traps that the previous man had set up and then the end gets to the final battle to see the disabled man fighting the predator on hand-to-hand combat grounds and helps and then it's 2 on 1.
In which case the man has to then realize that this is not his personal demons and this is in fact creature a creature from outer space in fact and then he has to deal with that fact it does he let it live? How does the Predator respond to this unworthy prey now suddenly putting its life on the line? Basically you want to tell the story of how the lowest of us could still fight to survive. Not a soldier, not a peacekeeper, not a warrior, not some rich investor backed scientist, but worthless disgusting hobo human. Saves the entire city, and no one cares about him.
Make him a veteran and it would make a little bit more sense too.
    See? Easy.

I do believe X genre fatigue exists, right now it's super hero fatigue, but it's not on the part of the audience. The fatigue hits the producers, the writers and directors because they always wants to do something new and different and within super hero films and shows pretty much every other genre has been mixed and matched within it so they have resorted to scraping the bottom of the barrel first doing full deconstruction and now taking identity politics to the extreme with the genre.
It's the mismatch between what the audience likes and what the "creatives" wants to create, the audience will gobble up and consume anything well made even if it's the same thing over and over again but the people making it can't maintain the enthusiasm required to do it well without trying something "new" each successive project.
The irony is if they went back to basics telling a straight up story focusing on improving the fundamentals like consistent characterization, a well structured plot, fewer cuts and edits during action scenes so the audience can follow what's happening and grounding the stakes that would be the "fresh" take they are so desperately searching for.

This is the way because we all saw Darkseid so ignoring that is gonna be weird and ridiculous because that film 🎥 came out just last year they have momentum with that which could be built upon. I think people are overthinking this. I don't think Top Gun: Maverick succeeded because of genre fatigue or anything like that. I think it succeeded because it concentrated first and foremost on being an entertaining movie. It seems like an obvious thing but many recent action franchise reboots and sequels are obviously much less concerned with being entertaining than featuring the right sort of messaging. Make an entertaining movie and people will go see it. Make a tedious feminist lecture posing as an action movie or a 2 1/2 hour long snoozefest about people talking and eating posing as a superhero movie and people will stay home.
They keep giving these giant, high stakes projects to people with practically no track record at all. They gave the middle movie of a huge franchise to some guy who had directed one feature film and some TV episodes. They handed a $200 million superhero to a director who had done a couple of indie dramas and some shorts. They handed the Charlie's Angels reboot to a director who had one feature film credit to her name which was Pitch Perfect 2. I don't get why they keep doing this. Who do we get to direct The Eternals? I know. Let's get that woman who directed Nomadland. I mean, it's a good movie but it's not the same kind of movie at all.
Netflix spent a massive amount of money on some really weird, really risky stuff. They made a lot of weird, niche stuff and some of them, like Sense 8, were also very expensive to make. Because of the way it had to be shot at multiple, widely separated locations, that show cost $9 million per episode to make. That's a lot of money for a show that was always going to be niche. Who thought that making an animated series based on a weird, obscure indie comic like Bee & PuppyCat was a good idea? Most comic nerds don't even know what that is. Carole & Tuesday was a really good show but no one beyond a niche audience of fairly hardcore anime fans was ever going to watch or care about it. Its big draw was that it was directed by Shinichirō Watanabe. How many people outside of fairly hardcore anime fans even has any idea who that is? They shotgunned a ton of money at a bunch of weird stuff and most of it sank without a trace and were canned after 1 season.

I care Caville isnt in the Witcher. I like the themes in the show. I have never read the source material but I love dark fantasy. If you throw in a good actor who just happens to have a passion for the story and happens to be a greek god incarnated, I will watch the show and wont mind the view. The more the merrier.

Here's my speculative opinion, I think DC does dark very well, they've been the kind of the juxtapose to Marvels light hearted and fluff.
As mediocre as it was Sandman is a DC character and so was Constantine and it opens up this entire world that also ties in Batman and lesser known characters like Zatanna and Deadman...

There was also adaptations of Preacher, V for Vendetta, Fables, A History of Violence was too. I think that the issue is that they almost seem afraid of the old Vertigo titles and avoid marketing them.

DC's Blue Beetle would be interesting. The alter ego is already a POC, the suit has a lot of features. As long as the writters don't turn it into DC's take on extremis Ironman and treat it like the scarab verses the host.
Imagine that as a concept the host is trying to be a hero and the suit is basically taking the path that reduces the chances of the danger recuring.
Basically Black Adam V Hawk Man but in one character with a parasitic suit.
I'm not sure how the host of blue beetle's name is spelled but I know his a native american.

Wakanda is a lot like wokeness itself, it appeals to a minority of people who don't know any better but they ARE in the minority and now that twitter is under new leadership the conversation MAY just may be more balanced. Hopefully, those in the minority will not be amplified to a ridiculous degree by a small army of bots. I'm not sure if Elon Musk is a good guy the same way as I have my reservations about Trump... but one thing is for certain... he will DEFINITELY make things more INTERESTING.

Natural _Predator_ sequel is two opposing special-forces groups show up to the same place to take out the Predator, but realize the Predator is on neither side and OP, so the Russian and American teams compete against each other to take down the Predator first. It'd be more of an action romp where we see each stereotypical macho man come up with their own ambush plan and watch it fail horribly. And with two teams going on you'd have tons of impromptu alliances, double crossing, intentionally getting the other guy killed, and shit talking. Meanwhile the Predators laughing his ass off wiping the floor with all of them
And because it's a black-ops mission with two groups who "aren't supposed to be there" trying to capture a game-changing bio weapon, there's a hesitation to call for help from drones or airstrikes so this could be a modern military story without ballooning the stakes too much.
    Honestly it's a no-brainer and it's embarrassing no one's done it yet.
