    The Tudor is not running great so let's see if with a nice service we can fix this submariner and makes it run nicely again

    Reaaly nice job, and great catch on that gasket inside the crown. I would not have caught that, I sytill don't have the muscle memory to look inside crowns :-)

      It is important to change all thé gaskets especially on a diver watch

    The the Tudor subs.. Have a newer one, one of the last, a 79190 and I love it. Great job on this restoration as usual and it will last forever.

    The eta movements were, and are real workhorses. Nice old watch and it should keep running for a long time because of your work.

    The reason the Tudor is only 200m is because that all the Marine Nationale required for their purposes, keeps the watch thinner and lighter weight as well

    If I remember properly, submariner went from 200m to 300m when they added a sapphire crystal with 5digits. So the tudor are closer to a 4 digit sub.

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  Рік тому +1

      Yes the submariner as a gasket around the crystal. This Tudor has nothing

      That's correct I remember back in 1982 buying one of the first 300m submariners. It was the first model to have a sapphire crystal however it still had a matte dial. I sold it a couple of years later and regretted it ever since.

      The submariner from the same era as this Tudor (1680 or 5512) had the same case and depth rating.

    Super video and what a nice watch, I think I prefer it to the Rolex though not at the price, nice ones like this one are indeed more expensive. Keep up the great work.

    I have the blue Pelagos 42, I see some resemblances…I knew about the Tudor Submariners but I’ve only seen the black dial models 🙌🏼

    What is the die used to press down the retaining ring? Doesn’t look like one of the die supplied with the horotec press.

    I love the snowflake design and I owned a couple of these. They're lovely watches but there's no comparison between one of these eta movements and a Rolex movement.

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  10 місяців тому

      Yes the Rolex movement is above. After it is cheaper to service an ETA caliber

    As ever, nice work. Apologies, I didn't catch the name of the lubricant you used on the reversing wheels, what was it?

  • @RabbitWatchShop

    I have a question: when Tudor used ETA movements, were they using base grade, elabore, or top grade? Or a combination of all three? Thx.

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  5 місяців тому +1

      They are standard ETA with some mods than ingraving for exemple

    Rolex submariner from the 70's was also 200m. Same case.

    Was that rust on the inner bezel?

  • @darranridley
    @darranridley Рік тому +1

    As a Submariner should the bezel only move in one direction, not both?

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  Рік тому

      You are right but I know that on some tudor for the marine nationale the bezel can move both directions

    • @Lonnie91a
      @Lonnie91a 9 місяців тому

      Vintage Rolex bezels move in both directions. It was when they introduced the sapphire crystals that they went to a single direction with clicks.

    Nice video as always but i wish youtubers would stop calling them Rolex movements, they weren't, they were made by Aegler.

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  Рік тому

      I think Aegler is the same as Rolex for a very long time already

    • @Lonnie91a
      @Lonnie91a 9 місяців тому

      The Tudor sub has an ETA movement so nobody is calling it Rolex. Rolex bought a majority holding in Aegler like 100 years ago, and has been working with them since before that. So a Rolex movement is a Rolex movement because it’s made by a company that Rolex owns even though it wasn’t in the same factory.
