Not folded links, crown, hands and bezel are replaced. There was no QC issue in the 90’s for Rolex…those came from the factory with Rolex crowns. The movement is an ETA, not a Rolex caliber.
Thinking about buying a Tudor sub that’s available online, it was made in my birth year which feels special to me. I have been wanting a Rolex Submariner for a long time but the more I look at and try on Tudors the more that want kind of fades away. I’m sure that it helps that I am kind of a contrarian and I don’t think I would like the negative attention that wearing a Rolex brings today, especially with what their reputation has become in the last 5 years and many of the non enthusiasts that wear them as a mere aspirational status symbol with no knowledge or appreciation for the history or technological prowess puts me off as well because to be frank, I don’t want to be lumped in with them. The Tudor feels like a true honest tool watch with great heritage that’s under the radar with no bling. It seems to me modern Tudor has stepped in to become what Rolex used to represent a long time ago. I really like the older style 90’s era of Tudor, the Sub, the Date + Day and the Tiger Prince Chrono all have such a cool vibe to them. My only issue is the 79090 that I’m looking at is over 7k. The prices have gone up on them tremendously and it is hard to justify for me so I am torn between the unique and rare birth year Tudor Sub compared to getting a new BB58 with a little bit of the vintage feel I like and with much more modern upgrades for literally half the price. Or to complicate matters further, saving up another 3k and getting a 5513 or 14060 Rolex(I still like vintage Rolex despite everything). I am at my wits end and really don’t know what to do. Do you have any advice for me @thefunkwatchcollective ?
After owning multiple subs and a date just...I traded my last 2004 sub in for a Yachtmaster Rolesium. I didn't see a point in having a Tudor sub AND a Rolex sub. They do the same thing. And, in my opinion, other than the name on the dial, it is the exact same watch. To non watch people, they won't notice or care about your watch. Wear what YOU like. What YOU want. When you look at the time, make YOU smile about YOUR decision. In my opinion, I'd go with the Tudor sub. Birth years are a great way to celebrate yourself and your accomplishments. Everyone and their Mother has a sub...but only a select few of us have a Tudor sub lol
I had a 16700, and after some trades ended up with this 79090 which I prefer - wears better, love the vintage feel, and something more unique and less bling factor!
keep the Tudor. It's vintage, better logo, and the "Prince Oysterdate" makes it look way cooler. My guess the only reason why people are telling you to keep the Rolex is because it says Rolex on it
It’s no coffee spill, I have the same watch and has the same type of stain. Regarding the bezel if you go back and forward it will get loose. Enjoy your Tudor
@@thefunkwatchcollective You welcome I was told that a lot of submarines has that issue, it can be fixed by serving the watch and have the cristal replace. To service a Tudor submariner runs around $450 dollars. Also they tend to run fast, around 10 to 15 minutes a month. Besides that it’s a great watch Enjoy it!
I bought a new Tudor Sub back in 1996 for $1200, a new Rolex GMT in 1978 for $325 and a 321 Speedmaster in 1967 for $96.00 new and still have them all.
@@thefunkwatchcollective the bezel action, the overly wordy dial, stamped clasp, non ceramic bezel. Kind of boring design. Brand is only thing it's got going for it.
I have a Tudor Submariner 75190 36 mm on its way. If Tudor would make a 70th anniversary Submariner for 2024 it would be an instant success.
I agree! Just recently had that conversation... lol

Thx for providing this info, Richard!

I'm totally in love with mine. It's definitely staying in my collection.... for awhile lol
Good meeting you at Costco today man. This one is one of my affordable grails.
Pleasure meeting you as well! Thinking about selling my sub because of this watch lol
I bought the same Tudor a year ago - really like it, great watch. It’s my daily wearer. Didn’t want to have Rolex on my wrist.
I definitely wear this more than my rolex, hence, why even keep it? Lol

Well said, and I agree lol
I own this watch its my everyday watch. It's a true classic. I love the size, looks, and quality. ❤
Couldn't agree more! Wear it in good health!

Thx for that tip. I wonder what it is...

That's a very nice 1992 Tudor Submariner, i have recently purchased a new Tudor Pelagos, which i do enjoy owning 👍
I've got a Pelagos myself... loving what Tudor does!
Can i ask how much?
How much for what?
I bought a new Tudor Sub back in 1996 for $1200, a new Rolex GMT in 1978 for $325 and a 321 Speedmaster in 1967 for $96.00 new and still have them all.
Awesome watch, my wife says exactly the same about my watches 😅
😁 Pfft... Women lol
Those are solid links
Thanks!
Id buy a Tudor but i dont like chinese movements...
This one has the ETA 2824-3. And my Pelagos has the MT 5612 in house movement. Depends which Tudor ya grab I guess. Lol
That watch is almost as sweet as that beard!
Hahahaha. Thx. Must be the genetics. Lol
Rolex is more beautiful! Sell the Tudor/Sudor!
I dunno. The tudor is more rare...it's a hard decision.

I hate it.
What about it do you hate?

It's from 1992! Lol
It has such a vintage feel. And don't get me started on that acrylic crystal! Lol
