  • Vintage Longines watch repair with a lot of issues. The watch looks simple on the outside but the movement inside is actually quite complex. The watch is not running so we will see if we can fix it and make it run again.

Qu’est-ce qu’elle est belle! La simplicité et les belles lignes des Longines sont époustoufflantes. La grande classe. Trés bon video.

That's a Longines 990 series. Those were the last in-house Longines movement ever made. The 990 series were a marvel of mechanical watchmaking engineering at the time (these were introduced in 77). That movement was so good that it was later repurposed for use with Breguet watches (Breguet Calibre 591A)!
In the last couple of years Longines made a couple of Heritage models that re introduced the 990.

@@FrenchWatchCollector Longines doesn't make in-house anymore the 990 was before they were purchased by swatch. The only thing they did was launch a couple of watches from their héritage collection using the 990, I believe in 2010 or so. But that's a really good watch and movement. For Longines collectors like myself, it's a must have in the collection! Cheers

The L990 and its relatives were the world's thinnest automatic movements when introduced in 1977. Only very recently was this record supplanted.

I think it was thinnest automatic movement with twin barrels, the JLC 920 used in the AP Royal Oak 5402 launched in 1972 is 2.45mm tall, this one is 2.96mm. Just a small clarification!
