Heck yeah! I rode there (Upper & Lower Commanche) this past summer and it was the most challenging ride my body has ever done. The gopro does not do it justice, this place has tough climbs EVERYWHERE! It feels very good to accomplish it though. "More like a sine wave" Is definitely accurate lol Keep the videos coming!
Props to you for riding here in Summer. It was 75 when I went for the high and it was perfect. I imagined it being 98 degrees, and I would never want to subject myself to that torture!
I'm planning on heading back here next month, Depends on if I can get day passes. I'm doing a Spider Mountain, Reveille Peak Ranch, and Palo Duro canyon tour of Texas
It’s beautiful there and I love the color of the dirt. I see what you mean by needing to be in shape. I would have gotten wrecked with all the climbing haha. Another awesome vid bro!
Super beautiful! You could have done this man! Wasn't as steep as Floyd Hill. Hopefully the Trail Snakes can do a TX Tour and this will be one of the stops!
We rode this place about 10 years ago. I was not a fan, and that's being nice. I guess some people like it, because it was packed even back then. Thanks for the video.
I wonder if it's changed much in 10 years. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I hate it when I travel somewhere and it's less than stellar. I think it's more a hiker destination because even though it was sold out all weekend, I saw only a small batch of bikers compared to hikers.
@@CobraKyle Sorry man I didn't mean to be all bummer haha. The place is awesome, we just didn't like the trails for biking. I should have said that originally, you'd think that I would know to do that 😉 Thanks again man. This video brought back good memories with my kids. 🚵♂️
Palo Duro is cool. Made it for a 3 day trip from Colorado. Beautiful desert red scenery. Punchy challenge climbs. Lots of traversing. Tons of variety (especially on east side). Only complaint ... Biting Flies. Nasty blood sucking flies drew blood all over my legs. If go again, will bring a six pack of sunscreen bug repellent.
@@CobraKyle The "Blood Sucking Biting Flies" were hungry when I was there. I cursed them my entire first ride. Then got bug spray second day. Bad, but better.
I've been once. I went in blind like you did. The scenery is amazing. Ironically, I rode Given Spicer Lowery so I was excited to see your take on it but then... I made it a day trip so it was 9 hours of driving for about an hour and a half of riding. Really need to take a couple of days like you did and I had it in mind to do it this year but well, it's 2020 so it didnt happen. Maybe next year
I was so tired by the time I made to Given, that I was just basically crawling. I'm annoyed I didn't film it a little because it ended up being one of the most scenic. It's an 8 hour drive for me, and my new rule is I have to ride at least 50% of the total driving hours for it to make logistical sense haha.
Thanks! I bet MN has some cool riding! I've been to Rochester with my brother when he had a visit at the Mayo Clinic. Short trip, but looked like a cool town. I was able to pop in a bike shop and talk with the locals. I would have loved to ride there, but was cold and snowy lol
@@CobraKyle four months of the year you need to like winter or suffer. But spring, summer and fall are awesome. I'm new to mnt bike and so far have only been on a few trail systems. Lots of flow. We don't have much for mountain here.
"Like a sine wave" Reimer's Ranch black trail and many of the trails in Bandera are the same way. Don't go when it's hot. You won't be able to work hard enough to get up the climbs.
These look like some awesome backcountry style trails. That techy stuff is a ton of fun, specially that slow descent deal with the terrain into switchbacks kinda stuff.
@@CobraKyle Well you found it , what you're looking for, is fun Tech, climbs and descents on LC HC RG, and all round epic rides, on GLS Capt. Peak, It is NOT a flow line or Jump Line or DH,
@@CobraKyle it’s a nice place given I only hike and the half of the park below lighthouse trail was closed. Really wanna go back one day and to the rylanders fortress trails.
Fuck texas...you cant mountain bike or trail ride in Texas....i would know...born in lubbock, grew up in midland and got tf out of that horrible state after serving my 29 years.
The flies were out of control! They were foreshadowing my death from all that climbing! Looks like I should have rode the second day stuff instead haha.
Dude it was lord of the flies out there. That was my bad on the poor trail choices for first day. The blues were a lot of fun. I was dead tired by the time I rode the Givens and Lighthouse trail. That's why I didn't bother filming because I was super dragging!
Dude yes they are intense. There was one I didn't show in the video, but think it was near the first section of lower comanche heading south, and it literally boggled my mind trying to figure out how it was possible. You must be a climbing beast!
@@CobraKyle haha, yeah it's kinda like how I could do a video of a flat DFW trail and it gets 5k views, but epic Colorado trails would only get 400! Oh well!
Just spent the week there and had a great time. Not confident enough to ride the upper Comanche!

Great places to visit! Reveille is still my favorite place to ride in Texas (so far). I haven't ridden everything lol
Awesome video, glad you didn’t get lost down there. Way to many people die in the canyon every year!

Just came back from here this weekend and we used your advice about which trails to hit and we had a great time!!

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS You're not a bummer at all! I've certainly ridden better trails than here too lol
Thank you this review was what I was looking for!

Perfectly explained. I've never seen so many flies in my life! I thought maybe it was just a special time, but guess it's always like that.
@@CobraKyle The "Blood Sucking Biting Flies" were hungry when I was there. I cursed them my entire first ride. Then got bug spray second day. Bad, but better.
We didn't get a chance to trail ride on our last visit, but I love the views from your video. Thanks!
Thanks so much! It's a really stunning place. I'm looking forward to going back.

It really is! I'm looking into going back for a longer stay.
Cool looking place. Nothing like that here in mn. Kinda novelty. Ps. I was born a short distance from there. Big spring. Thanks for the video.

Headed out there today and I pray the flies won’t eat me alive .

Oh yeah I've ridden Bandera in the summer before. It's unbelievably hot! I consider winter riding season here in Texas.
We went through there when I was a kid. Did some hiking but no mountain biking.
Hiking is pretty fun too! Lots of these trails were easier to walk up then bike lol
Major props to you! Those trails are gnarly enough for hiking in some areas, let alone on a bike.
I appreciate that Sean! I hope someday to be fit enough to climb them all with ease!
@@CobraKyle electric bike with assist uphill will take care of the hills

Wow it actually looks sick!
Yeah dude it's pretty cool! A group trip is in order for here I'd say!
We go just about every weekend and still love it! Awesome place to ride for sure
Those tight downhill turns had me worried just watching 🙈
I was extra focused here cause there wasn't much room for error!
Are you using a chest mount GoPro?
Yes I am! It's a GoPro Hero 8.
What bike did you ride there?
I was riding my Nukeproof Reactor 29". Super fun bike!
AWESOME! On eof the bikes I've drooled over. Along with many others. But it's in the top 8
It looks awesome out there! Glad you had a good time and great video... I laughed, I cried, it became apart of me Kyle.
Thanks Ryan! Sounds like I created a compelling masterpiece that should be on the trending page!
It should but unfortunately most great artists don’t get the recognition they deserves till after their death.....
That looked like so much fun
It was Mike. I was pleasantly surprised by it!
Those narrow rocky ledges stresses me out. My hands would be shaking after that.
Yeah I don't love narrow sections, but luckily these were pretty manageable!
Always look forward to your new videos, great work! Also...jealous haha
Appreciate it Evan! I'm jealous being back home and watching this footage. I loved the scenery there!
That looks fun
Palo Duro looks beautiful!
It really was! I'm still mind blown that this is in Texas. Might be my new halfway campsite when heading to Colorado or Utah!
now do the Franklin Mountains!
I'd love to! I'll add it to my agenda!
I've been meaning to come out here for a while, never seen a video on it, so yay you! lol looks great
I hope you get the chance to go. It was pretty fun! I noticed a lack of videos on this place. Not sure why. It's gorgeous!
Should stop by Lubbock for the Mae Simmons trails some time.
Fuck texas...you cant mountain bike or trail ride in Texas....i would know...born in lubbock, grew up in midland and got tf out of that horrible state after serving my 29 years.
I was curious if any other trails were around Palo Duro. I passed through Lubbock, so maybe next time I'll check it out!
There are some videos of the trails. None as produced as yours. There’s a great variety, mostly XC though.
Nice looks like you had a good time

i could do it ... but i need food, water and a bike lol
haha gotta start somewhere. One thing at a time.
Do they rent out bikes there ?
Palo Duro itself does not, but you could probably rent a bike from a local bike shop either in Canyon or Amarillo.
What kind of bike do you ride?
Hi Dustin. I'm riding a Nukeproof Reactor. Here's a video I made on it giving the rundown: ua-cam.com/video/qzD8NPfWi5E/v-deo.html
Looks like a god place to work on skills
Absolutely! I wish it was closer to me. I would be a much better rider if it was.
Should drive down to Odessa and hit up their little trail system. It’s a good workout for sure lol
Good to know for future trips! I was looking near Palo Duro for something else to ride, but didn't see a ton.
"If you like DH & enduro riding, it's not for you." Ok, bye! Lol!
