Not many react to hm unfortuunately. Its like, many on youtube who do reactions have either forgotten about him or don't know of him. I've been commenting in many reactions asking people to please react to Luther.
Omg that mans voice is extraordinary...luther Vandross had the greatest male voice. RIP Luther Vandross, he is a icon and legend and a "GOAT"....mind blowing voice.
Luther was a song stylist something totally obsolete today, just like his idol Dionne Warwick. Luthers ability to reinterpret classic songs is second to none, I say Aretha first than Luther in totally making a classic their own. Whitney said herself he is the best male RnB singer that will ever be and no one has touched this mans ability, no one.
Saw him live several times. He had the most beautiful smooth pitch perfect voice ever. Pure brilliance.Liquid velvet in the form of a voice.Best male R&B vocalist ever a true loss to music and sorely missed
Luther was my English Tutor...that was in the 70's. He came to my house when I was recovering from a neck injury. When I got back on my feet he put me on his writing team. I wrote on the first 4 albums...we never thought things would turn out tge way they did...I was still in my teens. He was hired by my aunt who was his English Instructor. He was so tough on me it wasn't funny...I still recall him saying...Come on Lisa you can do it...and I did. My mom and my grandparents loved him to pieces...I called him "Hey Tutor". Then when he place me on his writing team I changed his name to "Lukie Lue...we laughed a lot of times. That Black Leather Jacket is mine...I wore it one time. That was our signal to each other...my mom said "Luther, that's her favor jacket she never wore so take care of it....You dan see its small. We thought you'd enjoy one of his stories behind the scene. I wrote the lyrics "Never Too Much"...yep. Did a bunch of songs cause I wanted to be a writer. My cousin is Dion she's on my moms said. Nancy Wilson was my dad's BFF. So we listen to music all the time. My mom can sing her butt off...she stayed in church cause the streets were not for her..she's 86 now. You take care, Lis
I remember watching this live, it was a tribute portion to Dionne Warwick & this was 1 of the 1st times that many of us saw Luther small, when he first lost weight.
It DOES NOT get better than this...this is flat footed sangin'! Luther was everythang! His voice absolutely DRIPPED with honeybutter....AND HE KNEW IT!
I give props, so much mad respecting props to Luther Vandross here. This is my favorite performance of him for this Song and such a tender moment to do it at the NCAAP award in honor of Dionne Warwick. He's so smooth and so charismatic and that voice is butter that im just captivated from start to end with this performance. He's so handsome here both inside and outside! Great performances of yesteryear is to be cherished and to be a standard for today's musicians.
The best part about Luther is that he vibrato was a vehicle he used. He wasn't afraid to sing without it when the situation called for it. He knew how to make a note melt into nothing. He'd just take the vibrato out and fade himself out. I can't think of another singer who ever did that.
Much of what has been said is true but what you may not know is that he was the closest to Patti LaBelle of all of the divas. He was the first president of the Patti LaBelle and bluebells fan club and he remained a lifelong friend of hers. She also helped his mother.. Patti presided over his funeral, pretty much ran it. Amazing eulogy and song tribute. By the way that glissando leading up to the head voice near the end was pure Patti. Trust.
Ok what can you say... Nothing at all...Luther sounds as clear and on key as if this was recorded and mastered. Truly a strong performance and to think he adlibed and sang straight for more than 6 minutes. Masterful!
when MEN AND WOMEN use to romance, make love, create babies, express themselves, make up, beg, repair and fix their broken relationships with music and a song... my GAWD!
Pardon me, I did not know that every single person has watched this old ass videoo. I did not know that every person that has ever heard this super popular song has watched this award show performance of him performing it to her. My bad
An actual hit song of Dionne Warwick's in the 1960s, as well as "Anyone Who Had A Heart", which was also covered by Luther in the 80's. This video was taken during a lifetime achievement award tribute to Dionne Warwick. Vandross has said a number of times that his number 1 musical influence and his favorite singer of all times was Dionne Warwick.
I will never forget Beyonce recalling the great time she had recording her duet with the icon, the teacher, Luthor Vandross. And how they both stanned out about Diana Ross' tone. Ugh, I want Bey to talk about that again.
Who should give a damn about ones sexuallity...or their personal life at ALL. The man could sing and very talented in many ways. Thanks Just the Voice....another good Reaction!!!!
His sexuality is irrelevant. His voice still brought a lot of black babies into this world. Me being one! Luther fulfilled his duty to the culture beautifully.
You did it!!! Luther...there will be no other like him, not then, not now. The Divine only made one of him. I miss him soooo much💜💜💜😔😔😔😔 That voice that no one can compete with even in their dreams!! I'm falling in love all over again, my soul hurts.
It’s a testament to Luther that he was a favorite of mine and my cowboy boyfriend in a small southern town back in the day. Talent like that crosses all boundaries. We were country fans who loved us some Luther. He was undeniable. Gone too soon, RIP..
Thank you for reacting to him. Hardly anybody on youtube has a reaction of him. It's like they never heard of him. I just can't believe I can only find 4 reactions of him on here
The song will always make me cry when listening ,dont know why my feeling like that..very beautiful song live sang from my lagend soul Mr.Luther Vandross..miss your vioce always-a house is not a home-😭😭😭
I had the honor of being on the set of Soul Train when he sang this back in the 70s! I was one of the very few invited white folk invited to audition as one of the dancers for the show. Of course Luther stole the show! Great reaction -- new subs here!
Who’s doing this now? Who’s singing like this now? Nobody. No one in my life of listening to great music had, previous to Luther, been the of greatness that Luther exhibited from day #1. No one has since, and no one else ever will. Luther is one of a kind. We have his music, his gift to the world, his legacy of singing about love so purely. No one can replicate that monstrous rushmorian power of love that Luther left us with thru his beautiful music. Thank God for Luther and the gift he shared with the world.
Luv that u are reacting to this performance!!! This is Luther at his best!!! I have watched him in this video so many times and it affects me everytime!!
I love everthing Luther sung and he was wasn’t to be played with vocally! You should also do a reaction to Dusty Springfield live version of this song. She did a very good job.
Luther's voice is unique. A silly thought I always have is about the tale of the 3 little pigs. The wolf swallowed some chalk to make his voice softer so the pigs wouldn't be scared of it. I always think to myself that Luther swallowed ALL the chalk, lol.
They focused on Dionne Warwick's reaction because this was HER song! But, from that night on, she knew it belonged to Luther! This man took all the women who influenced him (Diana Ross, Dionne, Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin) produced or wrote from them and then blew them out the water! Did you hear how he said "Good morning, Good afternoon, Hello, Bye bye baby"? Now you must check out Luther doing "Superstar" live at Radio City Music Hall (featuring Nat Adderley Jr): ua-cam.com/video/QXY-AcEYbYU/v-deo.html, "Never Too Much", "The Glow of Love" Tribute to Smokey, "Dance With My Father" ua-cam.com/video/wmDxJrggie8/v-deo.html. He was truly in a class by himself! Please also check out Queen Pen's "All My Love" and Usher's Tribute to Luther ("Superstar") And, to think, he came to fame doing jingles in commercials!
Been waiting for your videos, got scared you wouldn't be back lol. Please react to Kelly Clarkson's Walk Away live on the today show! She added a horn section 😊
Luther never disappointed! He sounded like, if not better than his records live!
His tone is like buttery caramel. Just velvety smooth. Love his runs and low notes.
I love how you have the screen like we’re watching it with you!❤
The best ever to do it! Put on a masterclass for all artists ever!
Luther was a songsmith.
Also...mad props for reacting to someone like Luther! Very hard to find people reacting to legends like this

Yep. He loves some Ms. Dionne. She is Luther's favorite singer. RIP Luther!! You are great!!!
So easy and effortless but not boring
@@jimtim9190 yeah he always captures ur attention in a song...no one imo could do that today not a male singer
his love for Dionne is beautiful here. Luther, Patti, Gladys and Dionne were great friends
Luther made me cry in the audience while watching him sing this live. Also, your mom is right, Luther never was off key.
Wow you were there??? 👀👀 So lucky.
Saw him live in concert 3 times...sounds even better in person!! No other voice better!!!
Luther was a genius. No one of this generation is even an ounce as talented!
Saw him live several times. He had the most beautiful smooth pitch perfect voice ever. Pure brilliance.Liquid velvet in the form of a voice.Best male R&B vocalist ever a true loss to music and sorely missed
One of my fave live performances ever. He took his time! They don't make them like that anymore

RIP . He is so loved and his voice massages my soul and rest my mind.
His voice is like velvet smooth he is a pianist so he always on pitch
OMG this was superb. What a great vocalist, God rest his soul.
My late mother LOVED her some Luther! This was her favorite version of this song. She couldn't wait until he got to the run at the end! 🙌
Sorry for your loss. I miss my folks too 😪

This was an epic Dionne tribute❗️I had no idea that was hers first (until the last 5 years)😳😳OMG Burt Bacharach

Luther could have sang the alphabet and the phone book 😍😍😍😍😍😍
😂 and we would be here for it 🙌🏾❤️
@@ibukayov and I would buy out every copy 💕
You know, he used to be a jingles singer for commercials before he became famous.

Its pride month and we are all proud to have him in our world!
I always come back to your reaction of this song!
Pure artistry and technique.I only wish he and Whitney could have recorded something together.Would have been a sure hit.
How many people know this was a "remake" of a Dionne Warwick song?
babygirl4949 the fact that she's sitting in the audience might just be a dead giveaway.
Pardon me, I did not know that every single person has watched this old ass videoo. I did not know that every person that has ever heard this super popular song has watched this award show performance of him performing it to her. My bad
babygirl4949 This was produced by Burt Bacharach (Do some research to see how many songs she sang of his that Luther redid)🎁🎁
Luther's version was produced by Luther himself. Dionne's version was produced by Burt Bacharach.
An actual hit song of Dionne Warwick's in the 1960s, as well as "Anyone Who Had A Heart", which was also covered by Luther in the 80's.

this song is the reason a whole generation of daddies kept getting second chances
LUTHER!!!!! Panties thrown at the tv!!!!! Are you kidding me! I'm here for it, all the way here!
My favorite!
When you sound better live than the CD
I love how some of his songs always sound like they reset at the end. Like when he performed “Superstar” at Wembley... I think lol...
Ahhh learned from my Dad... that this is the Love Doctor
