The feeling you get when you see someone unafraid to walk in their God given gifts and talents...a true crooner and vocalist that is one of the best in history.
From 1988. They kept the camera on her because she sang it first in 1966 or '67. Written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach for her. I remember it was a hit or her. But Luther took it to another level. And she knows it.
Dionne Warwick’s reaction: GOLD!! And all the women screaming and swooning!! I think this was the NAACP Awards ceremony. This hit my heart, because I realize how much I miss him.
Luther never looked better or sounded better and I think he was all in for singing this song for Dionne who sang it first. Love was truly in the air. Brilliant!☮️❤️
Luther understood that love belongs to us all everyone, every color, every religion, gay and straight! That is why we can all connect and be one human race!☮️❤️
Aww, Luther Vandross!!! This is a classic & beautiful performance, chills👏👏👏👏 Definitely one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen👏👏Love your reaction too😄

He talked while he sang And it was just the two of you alone In the room You knew he was singing ONLY to you... You felt it deep down, to your toes. Saw him live numerous times One of my all time top favorites ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve watched this so many times! Luther is phenomenal here and Dionne Warwick was in Heaven listening to him! The entire audience was hypnotized by his singing. It is beyond heavenly!❤️
I saw Luther sing this song at Wembley a night I will never forget unbelievable what a voice . 60 years old now and still listening to it by far the best male vocalist ever. Thank you Luther what a legend
I was lucky enough to see Luther live TWICE in the 80s. And he would say throughout the show 'just like the record' because he wanted you to sing along with him. The best live performer ever!!!
Yes and he ALWAYS sung If only for One Night with Creep one after the other. And we would go crazy! Plus back in the day the radio stations always played those two back to back.
@@deborahtaylor3617 when i saw The Night I fell in Love tour the whole stage was decorated as his living room. Don’t remember, but he may have even started the concert with “Having a Party. “ In any case ,he said to the audience when he came out, “ Sit back and relax because we’re going to sing THEM ALL for you.” And he did. Such a great show.
I have been a fan for years and had the absolute pleasure of seeing the man himself Luther Vandross live in concert and believe me vocal talent such as his is a true rarety. A singer who sounds better live than on a studio recording is a privilege to behold. Unforgettable, sadly missed and a true loss to the world of music.
Luther began his career as a back up singer for Dionne Warwick. She encouraged him to sing jingles for commercials ... and then he became the Luther we know and loved.
I’ve always said Luther Vandross is the Best Voice to ever be recorded! This man sounded the same live in concert as he sounded on his records and he had some of the baddest background singers ever!
Luther is incredible! I saw him in concert probably about 6 or 7 times. "Never too Much" got me hooked a long time ago and I've been a huge fan ever since.
I'm so Jealous. If I could go back in time, I would find a way to attend at least one of his concerts. I so badly wished that I could have seen and listened to him live. Some of his songs are better live than they are recorded
I can't say I'm a particular R&B fan, but this video has been on my playlist for years. He was fantastic, and the world is a sorrier place without him in it.
I remember watching this when it aired and was blown away from his performance but so was she, because when he called her on stage all she could say was " you sure can sing....no, I mean you REALLY can sing" I wish they've left that part on 💙
Nothing needs to be said. Listen to it 100 times. It's gets better and better. The man's voice is an instrument from God. Love this version of the song live. God Bless you Luther Thank u
Luther did this. Another great Live version was 1981 when it first came out performed on Saturday Night Live. He got a standing ovation!!! *Janet lived next door to Luther & they were good friends. We'd wait on him like Whitney & get excited at the notes. Ironically Whitney is Dionne's cousin. *He was on Arsenio before his full performance & was asked to do just a little & when he sang a capella Arsenio literally laid on the floor & started kicking his legs up, he couldn't take it & Luther sings like we breathe effortlessly.

Masterful performance with a pre-recorded track that’s so fluid rhythmically. He never tries to count or guess and he has no click track. He just expertly navigates all those pitfalls like it’s nothing. Oh and singing his you-know-what off the whole time! Such a great talent.
Best live performance ever! Do you know the story about Luther and Dionne Warwick? When he was younger he told people she was his Aunt! Was fortunate enough to see him live in Chicago with Anita Baker.

When I got back to the USA, one of the first things I did is go to my friend's house and watch this on his VHS player. Needless to say, this performance was, is, and always will be; Stunning!!!
