What's your Home Assistant smart home disaster plan?

- Using Home Assistant and building a Smart Home with automation can be fun, challenging and extremely rewarding when everything works according to plan. When you've got your smart lights turning on when you need them, your heating system working just right and your garage opening just as you drive up in the evening.
But what about your family? Are they just coming along for the ride or are they part of your master plan? And what if something terrible happened, what would they do?

Thanks for watching, something a little different but hopefully thought provoking, let me know in the comments. Don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE 👍
Good thought provoking video. Having a disaster plan is a great idea not just for the family but also for memory loss due to say a stroke or head injury. Andrew Marr lost access to his digital data after a stroke as he could not recall his passwords.
You know what, I forgot about Andrew Marr, a fine example of what could happen 👍
One of the benefits of living alone I guess, I can write automations with just me in mind although I do need to think about how I'm going to scale things if it changes when doing automations. Highly recommend the doc idea, I use it just to keep myself on track.
Yes absolutely, even if it's just yourself it's still a good idea to keep track of everything you're doing.
I make sure I have a digital copy of all paperwork and then put this in my Google Drive that's shared with my wife. As well as home automation I put things like house and car insurance in there. A lot of people don't realise that the Google Drive app has a built in document scanner which is useful for scanning receipts. My optician was most impressed when I was able to call up my previous prescription whilst sat in the opticians. Takes a bit of work to setup but it's well worth it.
Sounds like a solid plan and some good pointers there Mark 👍
Thanks for this.
Hope it was useful 👍
Good information thanks
Hopefully useful, thanks for watching 👍
If the automation is written properly, the host can afford to stay in the hospital ... Think about it!
