      There is another one at Wylam a few miles further along the track towards Newcastle. I remember another now demolished at Penshaw near Sunderland. There were back in the day a fair few in the North East.@@LeslieGilpinRailways

      @@winco68 I thought there might be - its a long time since I've been by train all the way to Newcastle. The North eastern railway was keen on this style of signalbox.

      I find sometimes the southbounds are better loaded thn the northbounds. No idea where the containers come from sometimes.

    That was a long day for you, however you captured some great footage. That Swift parcels was a new one to me. Good to see that the water cranes are still in place at Haltwhistle. Semiphores at Hexham and of course the North East gantry signal boxes. Really enjoyed, thank you?.

      I think that water crane was recommissioned for the 'Return to Steam' runs in 1972(?) and has been used a few times but is not useable now. It has lasted well!!

    Well - you certainly caught some variety there.
    Of all the stations we covered between us I think Brampton has to be the least attractive - and probably the least used too.
    Hexham to Battersby - now there's an interesting pairing!

    • @LeslieGilpinRailways
      @LeslieGilpinRailways  Рік тому

      I think you are right regards Brampton. The NER waiting shed is subtly boarded up to leave a windowless waiting room but nothing else is near attractive. Yet it has the history of the original card ticket.
      I think Hexham to Battersby is much akin to Carlisle to Chathill.

    Good to see the Freightliner 90s in bright colour scheme a lesson to other operators who seem to prefer dull drab blue or green or all white trains. Are you listening DRS,GWR, Northern, Avanti West Coast, and especially Caledonian Sleeper.Brighten your trains up.

    • @LeslieGilpinRailways
      @LeslieGilpinRailways  Рік тому

      Freightliner locos of course carry the livery of their American owners, Genesee and Wyoming - you see it on short lines all over the USA. DRS are in the doldrums but GBRf have used some smart liveries. Avanti and GWR, both First group, have had imagination by passes when it comes to colour.

    There's going to be more divisions midweek by network instead of carrying out the work at weekends, network realised that there are more passengers using the services at weekends than midweek now.

      For network Rail use. Tampers etc are parked there in preparation for engineering works.
