A major tip that I do, especially if I'm using a laptop, is to find a box (old Amazon boxes work great) or a stack of books to sit my laptop on that will put the camera at eye level so that it does not appear that you are looking down. at the camera. I usually shoot for about 6" for the box or stack of books.
I actually enjoy the online interview. I feel comfortable and enjoy the fact that I don't have to risk the chance of being late and traveling to a particular place. However, tomorrow I am having a group interview on Zoom and that will be a new experience. There will be candidates and the interviewers so I will let you know how it goes. Thank you for your video and suggestions.
I have recently had a video interview for a data analyst intern position (I got the offer!). There were a few moments where I could not make out what the interviewer said, so I had to ask the interviewer to repeat the question. Other than that, I did not feel there was a huge difference between video interviews and other typical type interviews I have had.
@The Career Force, would it be okay to add a professional virtual background to the the ZOOM interview , such as an office as a background with neutral colors? Or would you recommend to just find a plain wall background in my studio?
Recently, I received a message from a company that would like to attend a Zoom Meeting next week. I find this video is very informative, your speech is clearly expressed and understandable. I hope i can do a IV presentation like you. Anyway, thank you for this video!
Nice tips, but this is not what I was looking for. I've never used the ZOOM platform and have no idea how it works and what to expect. When can I click the link? What's the meeting ID and password for? Do I need to create an account beforehand? Why does my invitation email say "One tap mobile" with two phone numbers, and "dial by location" with two phone numbers? These may seem small things but they are stressful when dealing with an interview.
My last interview, the manager had a haunted door. It would move about an inch, then move about an inch the other way. Finally the door closed. Then it opened again. It was the most distracting thing ever, and I couldn't concentrate, because this door kept moving. All I remember about the interview is the door.
Still try to find a quiet spot with a neutral background. Also position things so you're looking straight ahead (not down) at the phone whether you have a way to prop it up or are holding it. If you have a quiet room / conference room to use, this could mean using a book or shelf to prop your phone on. If you're outside, make sure it's not a spot with traffic that will drown out the sound. If that's a risk, use headphones with a built in mic to give a better sound quality. Make sure you look at the camera and not yourself since this simulates eye contact better.
Why Zoom? It doesn't let you multitask. Anything else you try to do on your phone shuts off the video part of the chat. Sometimes you do need to multitask.
it's 2020. whether you think it's fair or not, you have to join the present. learn modern technology, and frankly... if you've got a video interview scheduled, that's typically for work that you should already know how to use this sort of thing for.
Have you had a video interview before? If so, how did it compare to other interviews for you?
Dang this really coming in handy during social distancing.

Very informative. The presentation and the modeling are perfect.
This was very informative. Great tips. Downloading Zoom was simple. I'm all set up and was able to practice with it as well.
Hey so I have an interview for tomorrow on zoom, but I could not get off of work... I’m going to have to do it in my car is this completely terrible?
Such valuable information, thank you.
How to interact to camera, the best example is you,♥️👌 thank you
Can be stressful, especially when my camera/microphone works great on the "test," yet when it's time to go live, no one can see or hear me.
Insightful
Thank you so much it's helps alot

Exactly my situation too! So confused
Awesome video thank you
None my pants fit me, thanks to lockdown for two months
I had a zoom interview before. Honestly it was not as bad as I thought. In person also isnt as bad, but i prefer zoom. Phone interviews suck.

What do you suggest with using android cell phone. I have to an interview during work hours and have to sneak away .

Lise, I'm curious what kind of a spot you found? I have one with this exact thing (during work at lunch hour) and i'm trying to find a place to go!
@@jamiefritchman3435 i never xid. I changed it to a early morning

I have bought a mini tripod for my phone so I can have my interview without having to hold it for the duration.
lets the employer see you so they can age discriminate usually against age, weight or race..
What about age? I’m slightly older and am concerned the video interview is being used to screen me for age. It happened once before.
